How did you get into rotbtd?

I think it was after I found out about Jelsa (which I do not ship). There was content on that that I kept seeing (I had just watched ROTG for the first time and I was in LOVE) so all the Jack Frost stuff online was either jelsa or the big four. And once I saw it... never looked back. 😊

What made you stay/come back?

I never left this fandom once, and it makes me so sad that it’s so small and practically dead at this point. LET ROTBTD LIVE!!!!

Out of the four movies, which one is your favorite?

If I had a gun to my head, I’d probably say how to train your dragon. But that’s only if I had a gun to my head... in any other life scenario, they are all equal. 😉

Dreamworks dragons or Rapunzel’s tangled adventure?

Dreamworks dragons. Not even a question. I grew up watching that.

Which one do you prefer they make a sequel of, Brave or Rise of the guardians?

Rise of the guardians. I feel like brave had a pretty tied up ending, but rise of the guardians had so much more storyline potential! (Also we’d get more jack 😏)

OTP/BrOTPs??

OTP is Jarida, but I also love jackunzel. And BrOTP? Merida and hiccup. Those two 🥰🥰

I can’t remember, but I’ve been super into this Walt academy comic that’s a bunch of Disney characters in college together. Highly recommend it, you won’t wanna put it down @welcometowaltacademy

MERICCUP MONTH 2021: WEEK 3, DAY 15: MEETING FRIENDS

...and that’s how Merida turned the attention to her in Raya’s welcoming party XD.

I always love to imagine RotBtd co-existing with the Disney Princesses especially because Rapunzel and Merida are members of it both, and Jack and Hiccup meeting up with the rest of the girls.

I also think that in a world where something like Pocket Princesses or Princess Academy, Merida would sometimes feel like she’s different from the princesses but she’d see and treat them as family nonetheless (even if she won’t admit it XD).

I could have made a one shot out of this but I sadly cannot make it in time especially with the exams coming tomorrow but I’d definitely make something more out of it. To explain the story, Hiccup visited the Princess Academy(PattyCake reference) for the first time and Merida is delighted to see him so much that she forgot that all of the princesses are all there because it was Raya’s welcoming party.

Cinderella, Belle, Tiana and Pocahontas: No love interest, huh? Care to explain? (the sass of my favs tho, lol)

Ariel and Snow were just in awe with the cuteness.

Aurora was just there sleeping, not really aware (XD)

Mulan and Moana: Woah, so that’s the dragon rider Merida was talking about? Where’s the dragon then?

Jasmine: Wait what? Another dragon? We’ve had two in a row now, is it safe?

(and yes, Mulan and Jasmine held microphones because they had a duet, if you know who sang for them, then you would know the irony XD)

Raya: A third dragon? Wow, so much for a welcoming party.

Elsa: Well, at least it wasn’t the skinny twerp with white hair and a stick. If something happened, Merida might throw a boxing glove at me again.

(I’m sorry for Jelsa shippers but this was heavily inspired by the Pocket Princesses Comics. I headcanoned there that Jack once run into Merida and Elsa and let’s just say that things didn’t go well. Since Jarida is my Brotp, I switched it that Merida instead taking sides with Elsa get back for her brother XD. )

Anna (who was just containing her laughter on what Elsa said and with that memory): Elsa... you do realize Rapunzel’s just right in front of us, right? You’re lucky she’s too excited to even hear what you said.

(note: Robtfd or Super Six didn’t happen in this; I just imagined Rapunzel introducing them to Jack and Hiccup because they’re her cousins in rare occasions.)

Rapunzel was the happiest among them all, I mean why wouldn’t she be? She was the one that told Hiccup the location and she’s the number 1 Mericcup shipper, plus she just won the bet she once had with Jack XD.

rotbtd tag game!

started by @risoris a while ago but i saw it in the tags and i wanted to try 😊

name/nickname? i go by phoenix

how did you get into rotbtd? i was a big fan of rotg and i kinda stumbled onto rotbtd through fan art and stuff. so i started writing fics on wattpad and got involved in all that fandom drama ahahhh it was fun, not really tho it was messy

what made you stay/come back? i got back into writing rotbtd fics for comfort, and now i have very different opinions on how i see the characters compared to back then and i need a place to scream so here i am 🤡

out of the four movies, which one is your favourite? this one’s tuff. honestly rotg still holds a special place in my heart, i love the characters and the world and i still needa read the books!! but at the same time, httyd is like a PERFECT film in my mind when it comes to storytelling, so like, definitely between those two.

dreamworks dragons or rapunzel’s tangled adventure? i haven’t watched either of them in full, but i gotta say dreamworks dragons just bc of HEATHER. heatherrrrrrrrr, she owns my heart, heathstrid owns my heart

which one do you prefer to be made a sequel of, brave or rise of the guardians? definitely rotg but i’d want it to be more of a tv show. i’m too invested in the lore and the characters, i need full length episodes.

otp/brotp(s)? ahhhhh this question. hijack is probs my fav otp just bc i love like.......... the idiot x idiot dynamic they have going on. the sheer dumbassery of pairing them together brings me sm joy, they’re so stupid and i could go on for hours but anyways........ biggest brotps are probs jackunzel and mericcup (i KNOW those are the most popular ships idk why i’m like thissss) but also jarida gives me such a rivalry dynamic that i love, and i just. love them all

favourite characters? LOVE THEM ALL. idk man i feel like i think about jack the most bc he’s kinda the most tragic character w 300 years of isolation, but i also love analyzing hiccup and rapunzel, and i basically put merida on a pedestal, so it just depends on the day and whoever i happen to be hyperfixated on 🤓

favourite au(s)? probs a modern au or any kind of fantasy au, and like whatever’s in between those two. i think it’s just fun playing around w the worldbuilding of all their movies and just coming up with something totally new

pick one! favourite b4 house placement in hogwarts au? | favourite b4 nation/bending headcanons in atla au? idk anything about hogwarts so for nation/bending........ kinda caught between airbender and waterbender jack bc his powers are literally both, i think i’d have to go w waterbender tho. rapunzel is the avatar from the fire nation, and merida and hiccup are both from the earth kingdom, but merida is an earthbender and hiccup is a nonbender. this is prone to change

pick one! since this is 2021, any hot takes you want to give us? | what old fanon tropes that you still enjoyed to this day? i have takes, idk if i got “hot takes”......... ig none of them are straight?? uh jack and merida DO get along for many reasons, but mostly bc jack is so similar to the triplets yk. uhhhh jackunzel and mericcup give me sibling/family energyyyyyy 🤭🤭 elsa would NOT hang out with them, b4 > b5. idk 🙃

any fic recs? or if you couldn't think of any, what was the last rotbtd fanfiction that you read? (it could be an old work or a recent one, do share!) i have MINE sdjkfljhjdskfhsah i unpublished most of my wattpad fics and reposted them to ao3 bc it’s honestly just a better site, but they’re all unfinished. tbh i needa read more b4 fics, i still mostly read rotg fics.

name/nickname? mags! my favourite one atm is magatron

how did you get into rotbtd? saw some fanart on google images while i was perusing through the httyd fanart as a ten year old and never looked back. deviant art and youtue amvs became my vices after that.

what made you stay/come back? httyd 3 actually! even though it's my least favourite of the trilogy, it made me so nostalgic for rotbtd. also the content now is so much better than it used to be imo.

out of the four movies, which one is your favourite? httyd1 definitely. i think its the most well written and constructed (tangled is a close second) and the soundtrack is amazing. while i think brave and rotg aren't as narratively strong, they have the same heart and loveable characters as the other two. tbh, i thoroughly enjoy watching all of them

dreamworks dragons or rapunzel’s tangled adventure? i ADORED rob and dob and i used to watch it episode by episode on abc3, but i haven't gotten around to watching all of rtte yet. tbh...i don't like the characterisation in rtte very much, something just feels off about it. character and plot wise, i don't have anything against rapunzel's tangled adventure, but some of it gets boring and repetitive after a while. this is a long winded way of saying i prefer dreamwork's dragons, but just rob and dob ig.

which one do you prefer to be made a sequel of, brave or rise of the guardians? like @hobie-brown said, disney should not be trusted with merida or any of her family. that being said! a rotg sequel would be a dream come true!! there's so much lore and world building that needs to be explored!! i have so many questions. how did the other guardians die? they mentioned the groundhog, are there other spirits?? are there different ones from other cultures?? and obviously there's will joyce's series to take inspiration from as well. imo, a series would work better to explore everything. (also give me a pitch black redemption arc. i LIVE for the villain-turned-awkward-relative trope)

otp/brotp(s)? my otp is hiccstrid and i think eugene and rapunzel is one of disney's most solid romances so there's that. jarida!! my beloved!! tbh, i was indifferent to jarida until like three months ago but now i cannot stop thinking abt them. in terms of brotps? all of them. literally any. the best thing abt the rotbtd revival is the lack of ship wars and the realisation that all of them have wonderful and distinct chemistry between any other member of the group.

favourite characters? httyd and brave were my gateways into this fandom, so i guess hiccup and merida?? but i actively kin rapunzel and jack has so many unexplored character traits beyond Ice Themed Bad Boy That Pulls Pranks. idk man, don't make me pick.

favourite au(s)? BAND AU. OMG i LOVE BAND AUs. @risoris made an awesome band au and a fic to go with it and i think i cried when i saw it. some of my other favourites are: office aus, superhero aus or camp counsellors aus (which @ven-finn has drawn art for ;))

pick one! favourite b4 house placement in hogwarts au? im not as into hp as i was before bc of reasons but my headcanons for house placements are: hiccup - ravenclaw, rapunzel - gryffindor, merida - slytherin, jack - hufflepuff

when merida's old and her kingdom's passed onto her brothers or her heir (if she has one), her retirement plan is to go live in the woods and become the resident cryptid.

any aus that take away hiccup's disability is yuck.

i mentioned this in an earlier question, but jack has SO MUCH character beyond the basic bad boy arcetype everyone placed him in during early fandom. like, the boy needs therapy but not in the way wattpad boys need therapy y'know?

in general, i think old fandom lacked a lot of nuance when it came to the characters, especially when they were all together so im glad that's starting to change!

in a modern au, raps would DEFINITELY be on art tiktok. like those mirror painting trends and the cottagecore aesthetics remind me so much of her.

everyone thought that jack would play hockey bc he's ice themed and everything, when in fact 1) he uses his staff much more like a lacrosse stick than a hockey stick and 2) you think that twink isnt the resident smart ass who makes fun of the sports people at the risk of being punched in the face?

any fic recs? or if you couldn't think of any, what was the last rotbtd fanfiction that you read? the last one i think i read was @risoris 's 'Like A Fist In The Eye' which is a jarida soulmates au but with a twist that they hate eachother. it's only got one chapter and they haven't met yet, but im in love with it. a few i'd recommend are:

we cannot be friends (cannot pretend it makes sense) which is a platonic merida and hiccup fic with added hiccstrid and lesbian merida

Jack Frost and the Shadows of Van der Bor which is a jarida hogwarts fic!
