do you think jotaro ever looked at the stars and thought about how beautiful they were in egypt, despite everything?
i had capcut, zero experience editing, and a dream. this is actually my second edit & i quite like it i think- at least i enjoyed the process lol everyone and their moms is addicted to part 3 angst and i'm no different, sorry. i miss the jjba fandom.

I feel like a lot of people in the jjba fandom seem to genuinely struggle with how to flesh out Jotaro as a character or trying to imagine how he might have matured as a person without keeping Kakyoin's death canon. The single biggest reason I don't really explore the idea of killing him off in any of my aus is that I hate the idea of Kakyoin's entire existence being reduced to Jotaro's manpain. I'm not really a big fan of stuffing underutilized side characters into the fridge to begin with so the hero can get all sad and determined, honestly.
I think Jotaro doesn't necessarily have to be a less deep or interesting character in continuities where Kakyoin survived, nor do Kakyoin survives aus automatically have to be "softer" or less angsty.

@nitkat360 asked about the meme i made
Tumblr media
Created my DA account in 2015 to read Hetalia x Reader fics
My oc for DC is in a relationship with Bruce Wayne who is a few years older than her hence the sugar baby joke (she is not an actual sugar baby)
My oc for scooby doo is black and given the reaction to Velma she probably would be called woke...ignoring her personality
My self insert for monkie kid is the center of a love triangle between Sun Wukong and Macaque
Barb (my oc for hotwheels) is the estranged daughter of Dr. Tezla. Her parents divorced when she was 4 and it was only when she was 16 that she met her father again at the Highway 35 race
I ship Kendrix Tennyson wh Varian bc they work so well together I can't explain it but Varian would go for someone like her and he's the only guy she can really stand besides Albedo but that's purely platonic
Given the nature of the franchise I have multiple versions of Kaysha Wallace depending on show. The big mainstay is that she loves fashion and wears pink
Tallulah an oc I made for Monster High id part werewolf which technically makes her a monster but she can't turn into one. She doesn't even had werewolf traits she is human. Her sister on of the other hand can turn into a lycan.
In my au Lloyd's mother is not Misako but a lady named Bashira. She was frozen in stone and had Lloyd taken from her bc her village feared her son. Misako and Wu tried years to find him and that's where the first season comes up where Lloyd learns of his mom. Also bc Misako x Garmadon is so fucking BORING
Jora's dad offered the Incurseans frog legs as a sign of peace...didnt go very well but in his defense he don't know shit about aliens
Because of the shoddy way Arcee and Blackarachnia were written it motivated me to give my female OCs complicated backstories and personalities that didn't revolve around a guy or manpain
After s8 and such Lord Garmadon comes back and shacks up with Odette's family. Her sister Leilani befriends him and Garmadon may have a chance to redeem himself even if he can't access his human form anymore.
In my version of The Amazing Spiderman Gwen Stacy lives because it's my oc Vesta that gets kidnapped by Green Goblin and dies. She comes back in Homecoming as Wolf-Spider in a grand rescuing Michelle from a similar fate; reuniting with Her world's Peter but can't be with him bc she's now helping guard the multiverse from Scarlet Bitch
On plan I had for Rosslyn (my oc for alpha teebs on machines) was for her to be a clone of Mr. Lee's late wife Rosanne. But this was scrapped bc it was too obvious a twist plus I doubt Lee would clone his own wife.
Noelani was originally conceived as Chris Thorndyke's teenage sister and would replace him as the main human. I changed so much of her by then especially to distance her from that shitstain.
An idea I had for Jojo Part 9 was for Jolyne Kujo's mother (Jotaro's ex) to be the main antagonist. Her goal was to avenge Jolyne's death by leading a campaign against stand users seeing them as too dangerous, as well as plotting to wipe out the rest of the Brando family so they can't hurt anyone ever again. My main JOJO, Josephine "Josie, wouldve opposed her alongside her friend Gia Brando (Dio's granddaughter), Josuke 8 and Yasuho.
I have a himbo fetish since some of my personal f/os are himbos
CANON MONSTERFUCKING Amani is dating a Mummy Pharaoh, my self inserts date mummies, and monsters and robots yeah we having a great time
And that's about it!!
Also all ships (that aren't incest\problem/gross/yucky) are canon bc i dont care much for ship wars

is jotaro's story manpain? discuss
not really? or at least not in a lasting sense? “manpain” isn’t exactly a professional term with an official definition so i guess it depends on how you’re defining it but at least in my experience i’ve only ever really seen it used in reference to like. men whose trauma revolves around bad things happening to the women in their lives, i.e. their wife and daughter were murdered and their motivation in the story is to avenge them or something along those lines. like it’s more about misogynistic writers using women as sad plot devices for the development of men than like. men having angst in general. and well that IS the case in part 3 because his mom being sick is his motivator there but ultimately she’s fine and that never comes up again so i dunno that it qualifies as an actual lasting Sad Backstory. so i guess yes for like a month and then no again for the rest of his life

Harry Mason is probably the only good example I can think of of the “protagonist gets killed in a sequel” trope horror movies do constantly because his death in silent hill 3 doesn’t detract from his accomplishments in the first game. it still happened and it was still important because cheryl-heather was rescued from the cult and subsequently raised by Harry to become the woman she became in order to face the challenges she faced in the shopping mall and then afterwards in hell (ymmv on the location). Harry still mattered and things would not have happened the way they did without him. That’s why his death is meaningful, valuable, an emotional gut punch, without feeling like cheap artificial bullshit designed to manufacture emotions and manipulate you into being attached to the characters who don’t matter because they’re literally just meatbags (like in nightmare on elm street and friday the 13th). Perhaps this is due to the nature of the medium, or the country of origin, and/or bias on my end (as I favor horror games to movies and I much favor J-horror to american horror). But it’s a very specific example.
Another way to put it would be Stardust Crusaders. Kakyoin kept everyone else from dying a dozen times while he was with them, and his death is probably the literal only way that Jotaro could have defeated Dio. It is a satisfying character arc, and is a perfect “raising the stakes” moment. Had Polnareff died in his place, not only would it be impossible for that idiot (affectionate) to figure out a way to communicate to Joseph with Silver Chariot that Dio could stop time, but it would also have cheapened his character arc and prevented his actions in future endeavors. Similarly, Avdol had a perfect moment to die for real in a respectful and heroic way. Except it was immediately retconned and he was brought back in the dumbest way possible, Hol Horses’ potential was wasted and he was disposed of because of the literal worst and dumbest stand ability in the series (I despise retroactively ironic fate mechanics because it’s stupid the way it’s implemented in fiction every single time), he didn’t do a goddamn thing useful that anyone else couldn’t have done except provide humor in the Mariah Carey episode because haha it looks like they’re gay haha it’s funny because they’re gay DO YOU GET IT (yeah whatever the series is dated don’t bring up the discourse or I will kill you on the spot), and then he died like a bitch for no reason other than to show “hey look the secondary villain is really powerful” for you to think oh shit Polnareff is in danger like he was 30 other times before, I sure hope he makes it out of this one alive (and shocking nobody, he totally did). Araki changed it so instead of dying heroically to save his boyfriend, the token black guy got fridged by Vanilla Ice to give some ManPain to the white guy [yes I know Joseph is also white but at least he’s not fucking French which is beyond the mayo]. Literally nothing would have been any different if Avdol died before Egypt and Hol Horses was the one to push JPP out of the way. If anything that would’ve been an excellent redemption moment for HH considering he’s the one who would have killed Avdol in the first place. And the worst part is that Avdol didn’t even have a character arc at all. Jotaro didn’t either but that’s because his character arc spans FOUR seasons.
…although Jojo is also Japanese. Man…

God Tier Jotakak is when Jotaro and Kakyoin actually have a dynamic and the two sass and give lip to each other and be dorky and do dumbshit weird things together and not some homophobic, fetishistic uke/seme stereotypes meant to appeal to straight girls of Kakyoin as an uwu soft moe blob devoid of personality who only exists as a satellite and emotional crutch for Jotaro and Jotaro as generic broody, angsty, edgelord manpain dude No.452 instead of the absolute dork he is in canon.
