some absolutely wild speculation after watching the missing link teaser trailer several times in a row:

someone (presumably the player character, since it shows a shot of them on the ground while they mention this) washed up on the beach after a meteor shower (JUST LIKE KAIRI DID. BTW). this makes them a "drifter"

a bizarrely doubled voice (someone antagonistic?) said to turn 'them' (Player 2 again probably) over to the "founders" if they don't cooperate... those founders are mentioned again later, and seem to be in power. the founders and leaders of the different societies? Ephemer is pretty famously The founder of Scala…

speaking of which, oh boy, factions!!

astral plane connects existence and non-existence. is that supposed to refer to reality and unreality? is that how this real world gps map thing is being explained?

but unreality isn’t supposed to have heartless, so….

that ^ is a new prismatic melody :3 the only other white one is the Silver Rock and that has a different hat color

“Which one’s the calamitous star…?” I’m taking that to mean they’re referring to Player 2. and if so. damnnn is our existence causing problems in this game

So rarely did the experiment invite the PITY of others, masking much of his pain behind a SERRATED gaze. Like the prismatic remains of a mosaic window, the mercenary’s eyes SLICED the night air, reaching the young girl with as much WOE as sheer ADAMANCE.

❛ … I don’t need to be saved. ❜ Yozora stressed, albeit, with slight DISHONESTY. His ever unstable Gigas core only foretold an early DEMISE. He was compromised, but saw LITTLE VALUE in concerning others. Particularly when he saw no clear solution to his PLIGHT.

Like a true SOLDIER, his priorities lay in his missions, and in his missions alone. And if Kairi were to ever survive in a world sieged by WARFARE, she should be thinking exactly the same. ❛ By saving her… we will be saving everyone else. ❜ Yozora murmured, albeit RESOLUTE, setting his sword ablaze with a single crack of his wrist. ❛ We have no time to lose. ❜

❛ Fate brought you here for a reason. ❜ Yozora exhaled, lidding prismatic eyes for the briefest of moments. He hated resorting to such whimsical concepts, like destiny and divine decree. But there was no other explanation for Kairi's manifestation. ❛ But you will return one day. And... she will return to me. ❜

there were so many questions dancing on the tip of her tongue? where was here? WHY here? where her friends okay? were they worried? who was SHE and. . . why did kairi feel as if, despite just meeting him, she believed him.

“i can't wait for that one day. i need to go back--- my friends, they--- they need me." panic ROSE in her tone, fidgeting where she stood. they were in the middle of a WAR, one that decided the fate of worlds and here she was, somewhere she couldn't do anything to help ( though not for the first time ). "you said your name was yozora, right?" gaze flickered back to his, hands balling into fists at her side.

"tell me what i need to do. i'll help bring your friend back and-- if what you say is true. . . it'll help me find my way back home."

The youth had risked it all in the moment of overwhelming power being thrown in what some would call a last ditch effort by the enemy, costing her greatly as blood had splattered all over the poor male before her, prismatic eyes gazing upon him with concern, for him (such a foolish girl). Before slowly trailing downwards to gaze at the blood seeping forward through her plain outfit. The crashing waves of the shoreline do little to wash away the sudden river of blood slowly dripping into it as the redhead staggers. Despite the blood slowly dripping from the corner of her mouth, she smiles.

"I couldn't just watch you get hurt, you tall fool."

Before she collapses to her knees, strained breathing as the crackling sparks of her strained efforts of a curaga, unfortunately it was much too late as her frame slowly lies in the shallow waters of the beach, while a true fool coated in her blood now faced inevitable oblivion, if not from Dagon, then from those who would learn.

The display did nothing to faze Dagon. A bloodied and dying youth at his feet was something he'd become uncomfortably familiar with a very long time ago. No matter who it was, this would be treated the same way it always did. Cold, dead detachment. There was never any other option.

Perfect future sight meant what the name implied. One could see the future fully, in every detail and every permutation its paths had. There was nothing beyond his sight, nothing he could not align up to prepare for the ideal outcomes he needed.

This moment was no exception.

Nothing this adversary could throw at him in their limited arsenal had any actual chance of harming him. Even if he didn't just tank the attack head on, he could have easily avoided it. He would not have listed this long otherwise without mastering combat. But this instance had not required him to fight, but for her to die.

Kairi's life faded quickly, the injuries too severe to keep her conscious for long. Perhaps then it was a small comfort that she did not have to see the dispassionate expression on his face, the endless mask he had to maintain to make all those dominoes fall into place.

This unimportant foe was quickly dispatched. They had served their purpose, knowingly or not, and had ceased to be relevant. As for the fallen princess, Dagon allowed himself a weary sigh before kneeling down and shutting her eyes gently. She would be in the afterlife by now, and his intervention there would make more problems for him to contend with.

And so it ended, another thread in his tapestry cut short. A sad shake of his head at the pointless waste of life, and then he was gone.

There was always more work to do.
