Db murder au? Pretty please? I want to know about murders

you choosing this is simultaneously a blessing and a curse because on one hand it's the au i'm most excited about writing/sharing but on the other it's also the one that's gonna take months, probably even longer, to finish lol

i don't want to reveal too much so that the tension isn't taken away, but i will give you the premise: dream as a lawyer, defending wilbur who killed his abusive boyfriend in self-defence.

and here's the snippet i plan to use in the summary:

“You’re Wilbur, right?” He asks, voice gentle and soothing. The other gives him a hesitant nod, and even though Dream isn’t sure if he can see him, he smiles for a moment.

“I’m Dream. I’m here as your lawyer.”

Another smile, this one a little more open, a little more curious.

“Would you mind telling me what happened? The only information the officers could give me was that you killed someone.”

Wilbur recoils violently at the words.
