Fair warning, I dropped out of school right before grade 10 started, and that was years ago now, so I'm sorry if my knowledge of highschool is limited, as I never went to highschool

You were about ready to snap. This day had been the worst day of your life and you were about ready to blow up in frustration. Not only had today been your first day of 12th grade, but it was your first day at a totally different school full of strangers.

You had gone through several mishaps through the day, including getting lost while walking to class, getting hit in the face with a ball in P.E, spilling water all over your brand new dress, and to top it all off, you got in a collision with one of the dumbass jocks who was riding his skateboard down the halls! And now.. now you were lost in a junkyard walking home..

As you walk through the junkyard, you step on something squishy and gross. You look down and find you've stepped on an old used condom, the clear, squishy latex slightly sticking to your shoe. You groan, all the events of the day catching up with you. You angrily pull your shoe off and try to shake the condom off, standing on one foot as to not step in the dirt and ruin your socks. Eventually the condom peels off your sneaker and plops onto the ground. You let out a high pitched yell in frustration and throw your shoe out of pure rage and impulse.

"FUCK THIS DAY!" You scream out and chuck your shoe far, far away.

The shoe hits something hard before landing on the ground.

"OW! What the hell!?" You hear a deep voice say from a distance, "Who's throwing shoes out here!?"

A head with a long dark brown mop of hair pops up from behind a rusty old buggy, a hand rubbing his head where the shoe must have hit. The figure turns around and sees you standing there, a socked foot held up to avoid getting your white ankle socks dirty and a shocked look on your face, not expecting anyone else to be here.

"Fuck.. this day just keeps on getting better.." you mutter bitterly, "Hey, uh.. you mind tossing me my shoe back!?" You yell across the junkyard to the stranger.

He bends down and picks up your shoe, hopping on top of the rusty car's hood to make his way over to you. You panicked for a second, but noticed he didn't look too bothered by the fact that you had just accidentally assaulted him with your shoe.

You recognized the stranger, having seen him at school in the hallways, people always whispering about him as he walked by. If you can recall correctly.. his name was Rupert, and he was a total weirdo with no friends.. or so you heard. He had shaggy long hair and is wearing a shirt with a funky design on it, a yellow turtleneck underneath it, jeans, and boots, carrying my shoe in his hand and his backpack over his shoulder. And he was tall.. fuck, he was really tall, and you hoped he wasn't upset, because there was no way you'd be able to save yourself if he was.

You don't bother to try and hop to meet him midway, knowing you'd probably trip if you did, so you just stand there on one foot, waiting until he gets close enough to grab your shoe from his gloved hands, and then maybe run away if he got hostile.

"Hey.. you're the new girl at school, right? I'm Rupert. Rupert Marshetta!" He grins as he stops in front of you, handing you your shoe.

"Yeah, uh.. I know who you are, everyone talks about you.." you say awkwardly, taking back your shoe and slipping it on tightly to make sure it doesn't fall off.

"Ah, so you must've made friends with some of the cool kids, right? Though.. you don't look like someone that would hang out with douchey jocks and bitchy cheerleaders.." he says thoughtfully.

"I'm not.. People just talk in the hallways, and I just happen to overhear.." you say, stepping away from him to put some space between you two.

"Hmm.. I see. So.. why did you throw your shoe at me? I mean, obviously I heard you yelling, but that still doesn't explain what I did to deserve a shoe to the head.." He says, rubbing the back of his head, where the shoe had hit him. It obviously didn't hurt anymore, he just wanted sympathy, which you gave to him.

You flush in embarrassment, "I didn't mean to hit you.. I was just frustrated.. I've been having a really bad day," you semi-explain, feeling guilty about the uncalled for attack on his head you had set on him.

"Yeah, I can see that. The question is.. why? What happened?" He asked, hopping up onto one of the rusted car hoods to sit and listen to your story, seemingly genuinely interested and willing to listen.

Needing to vent to someone, words immediately spill from your lips, telling Rupert all about your shitty first day, tears of frustration blurring your vision, your voice becoming shaky and choked up, your hair falling over your face and eyes as you look down, trying to hide your crying.

Rupert's eyes widen as he sees you start to get extremely upset and jumps back off the old car and doesn't hesitate to hug you and comfort you, rubbing and patting your back.

"Hey.. we all have bad days. Today might be frustrating and lonely, but tomorrow will be better, because you'll make it better in any way you choose to do so!" He murmers, speaking in a soft, low tone to comfort you.

You sniff, your crying starting to cease, "T-thanks.." you choke out, wiping the tears off your cheeks with your sleeve.

Rupert slowly lets go of you, giving you one more pat on the back before standing back and letting you breathe in some of the fresh air.. well, as fresh as the air can be in a junkyard.

"No problem.." he trails off, realizing he doesn't know your name.

"Oh, sorry.. My name is (Y/n). (Y/n) (L/n)." You stick out your hand to shake his.

He laughs a bit, but still takes your hand, shaking it enthusiastically.

"Nice to meet ya! Now.. I believe you said you were lost. I know this place like the back of my hand, all I need is your address and I'll make sure you're on the right track home! I promise! No funny business, I just wanna see you get home alright.. Okay?" He smiles gently.

You give a small smile back. Maybe.. just maybe, this guy isn't as weird or bad as everyone makes him out to be..
