i love kiarah with my whole heart! as a person who was raised on quite controversial examples of female friendship [blair x serena, brooke x payton, etc], i love when shows don't portray girls as rivals. and i loved that cleo's arrival didn't cause any drama between girls. so many shows would've added stupid jealousy to ensure female-driven drama, but thank you obx writers for avoiding this shit

there were so many small moments between sarah and kie throughout all three seasons, but i really want writers to show female supporting female more. i think the lack of female friendship can be explained because obx is written by men and even if they have female writers there, i don’t think that they have big roles in the writers room to add some layers to girls in particular, unfortunately the foundation of kiara and sarah to be modern example of female friendship is there, and not so many shows nowadays can provide that. i do hope that gen z girls who watch obx can see healthy example of female dynamic that doesn’t involve boys. it’s really great that sarah and kie don’t have the same love interest or even the same interests/hobbies/activities, they don’t share the same goals in life and it’s okay cause it’s how real life works as for kiara’s crush, i’m actually a bit torn. sure, i consider kie as bisexual, it’s my headcanon and you can’t convince me otherwise. and also i think that kiara is a type of “people need people” person, so when she was thrown into kook academy with no one around she needed someone on hey side because that’s who she is. i can also say that i think kie’s sign is a cancer, so her getting close with sarah and focusing solely on sarah is something that cancers do, but i don’t think that you want to dive into astrology with me lol

okay, i think that kie might have felt that she need to be close with someone to go through that life-changing period for her - and that’s where sarah comes into the picture. she is nice, she shares kie’s interests, she supports kiara by coming with her to feed turtles, so kie sees her as a soulmate and basically, i think [and you can totally disagree on this one with me] she considers sarah as a bandage to cover up a wound that left in her heart once she grew apart with pogues. so i think that's why kie, being a person who can’t exist [and most importantly have never existed] without strong friendship, clings to sarah

i want to say that kiara had a crush on sarah, but i just don’t want to somehow mess their beautiful platonic connection by adding romance into the mix

on the other hand, i can guarantee that if we were in the world where jiara doesn’t exist [what a lame world though], i would've been shipping kiarah with all i have. they are soulmates in my eyes, and i don’t think that anyone can convince me that they’re not

Nanowrimo day 6: another WIP from 2 years ago. It was gonna be a Kiara x Sarah fic.

“Shut up,” Sarah’s familiar honeyed tone reached Kiara’s ears before she saw her once best friend. “Kie?”

Kiara’s stool twisted toward the sound of Sarah’s voice and she couldn’t stop the smile that crossed her face as she looked at the other young woman. It had been a few years since John B and Sarah had broken things off and almost as long since Kiara had actually seen her. Sarah had left the OBX the same way Kiara eventually did, with little more than a goodbye and no attempt to follow up with friends. All anyone really knew was that she had gone to school out-of-state and moved away from North Carolina and her toxic family.

The time away had obviously done her a world of good. She looked better than she had when they were sixteen, the blonde in her hair a little lighter, soft waves of gold tumbling over her shoulders. Kiara was reminded of the crush she’d had on Sarah back in the day as the other girl hugged her, the familiar floral perfume hitting like a train.

“I can’t believe this, what’re you doing in LA?” Sarah asked, immediately occupying the empty stool beside Kiara. She waved her hand for the bartender’s attention and he gave it almost immediately, promising a quick return on the drink she rattled off.

“Just travelling…I was home for a few days recently, for Pope’s birthday.” Kiara replied. The memory of the heartache was fresh but she pushed it down.

“I was gonna go,” Sarah admitted, “Pope invited me out but John B and I still aren’t really…speaking, so I didn’t wanna make things awkward.”

“I would’ve loved to see you,” Kiara wasn’t ashamed to admit that she’d felt the emptiness of Sarah’s absence, especially when she was clinging to anything that might’ve made the entire day feel less difficult.

“Well, how long are you in town?”

“A couple weeks.”

“Good, plenty of time for us to catch up, staring now.” She replied.

Sarah belonged on a beach. That was Kiara’s assessment by the end of the two weeks that they spent almost exclusively together. She wasn’t sure if she was reliving some passed fantasy or if realizing JJ wasn’t her ‘splinter bean’, as Sarah always said, had pushed her in the direction of needing to move on and not wanting to. Was she so desperate for a piece of the old life that she was digging up her feelings for Sarah or had two weeks away with her old best friend just reignited a flame that was never fully extinguished?
