SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Finally, today I feel myself as good as never before cause my holidays have started!!! This year was very hard and I had so many plans to realize!.. Because of different reasons I couldn’t finish all of them, but now it’s time to relax and to generate a lot of creative energy for the next year.

Last week was full of events and activities because of the knitting project birthday, so I hadn’t time to publish my new baby design. I plan to do it next days, so you’ll have enough time to realize it for your babies. I really hope that you’ll like it.

I wish you a productive week if you work or a relaxing one if you are in holidays, like me. See you in September!

3 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR KNITTING LEVEL ⠀ Good Friday! ⠀ I guess that summer holidays are the perfect period to prove your knitting skills. Having more free time you can use it to obtain new knowledge or to try new things. As we like to knit, let’s discuss how to improve them fast, easily and having fun. ⠀ 1. First way is to read a knitting book and to try unknown techniques which you’ll find there. I’m sure that reading a book you’ll find many new and interesting information, but I guess it’s a bit boring to spend free time reading a book and trying to understand new methods.

⠀ 2. Second possibility is to find in Internet a tutorial video in which author explains how to make a knitting good, sharing her knitting hacks. It’s better cause you’ll have both new knowledge and finished project which you can use in future. There is one problem with such videos, usually, it’s possible to realize a one size product.

⠀ 3. The last way is to realize a knitting project using a knitting pattern. Pay attention to the pattern you’ll choose cause it should be easy and clear. At the end of knitting process you’ll prove your knitting skills, learning new things, and will realize a knitting good (wear or toy) to use in future or to present to your friends/relatives. Moreover, a good author will help you if you’ll face problems or difficulties during the knitting. ⠀ Which method do you prefer? Just write the related number in comments.

MY FAVOURITE MILAN YARN SHOPS

⠀ Last time I made a list of my favorite on-line yarn shops. This time I made the list of off-line shops I like. I live in Milan and I hope that this will be interesting to Lombardy knitters, leaving close to me.

⠀ ✔️ Canetta (Milan, via Dante, 4). It’s the most famous shop in Milan. They sell yarns, knitted and sewed baby stuff, produce the «Mani di fata» journal and not only. Here you can find mostly Italian and Spanish yarn producers, like Sesia Manufatture, Silke by Arvier, KATIA and others. All items are of high quality and, at the same time, high price.

⠀ ✔️Hydra’n’gea (Milan, via Lodovico Muratori, 54). It’s the closest shop to my house. The owner is a very friendly and ready to help. They have many different yarns among which are Louisa Harding yarns and Lana Grossa. There you can find any price range yarns. I strongly recommend it. ⠀ ✔️Merceria Carcano Foderami (Milan, via San Gottardo, 9). A little shop with big amount of Italian yarns, like Sesia Manufatture, Mondial, Lana gatto and others. Prices are not high and very attractive. By telephone the seller can check if they have the yarn shadow you need, so it’s not necessary to come. Moreover, here you can make a yarn order without prepayment! ⠀ ✔️ Punto dopo punto (Milan, via Ambrogio Binda, 33). A very cute shop with huge amount of different yarn kinds. They sell Italian marks mainly. They have so many yarn types of any price range, that, I’m sure, there you’ll find the yarn you need. They have handcraft courses as well. ⠀ ✔️Fiordilana (Villasanta (MB), via F. Confalonieri, 83). This shop is located close to Monza, but I visit it frequently. They are the official Garnstudio Drops yarn distributor in Lombardy. There you can find other yarn producers as well, like Malabrigo and Katia. The owner Heidi is very friendly and ready to help.

MY KNITTING/CROCHETING STORY ⠀ I have started to make posts here a couple of weeks ago, but I still haven’t told you about myself and my story. So, today it’s the right moment to change it and to tell you my knitting story. Many knitters start to knit in childhood, when their mother or grandmother teaches them. My story is quite different. ⠀ One of my grandmothers could knit goodly 👵, but she made only socks for all her big family. In that period we lived in Siberia and I remember goodly how each year a wooden box with sweets and wool handmade socks arrived from my grandmother to our home. My older sister wanted to study knitting and asked every knitter she knew to teach her. They showed to us knitting basics, I repeated them, but I wasn't interested in knitting. 😕 ⠀ Many years later, few months after the death of my grandmother, I walked in a spring period and met a little girl dressed in a crochet jacket. It was so beautiful and she looked so cute 😍, that I had decided to try to make a crocheted easy good for me. So, I made my first crochet top and since that day I can't live without creative activity.

Some years later I restarted to knit and now, after 21 years of knitting/crocheting experience, I have 38 my own knitting designs (find them here: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/irina-marzo)! It’s amazing! Sometimes I can’t believe that I created them all! ⠀ What about you? What do you prefer knitting or crochet? Tell me about it, I'm very curious.

LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF ⠀ Few days ago I have created my profile here. Previously I had profiles on Instagram (@knit_baby_wear) and on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/knitbabywear), but because of some personal reasons I have decided to leave them. I have already published few posts about my hobby, but I still haven't wrote nothing about myself. I guess it’s the correct moment to do it 😉/ ⠀ My name is Irina Marzo. I graduated as engineer-physicist, but I worked as an IT-specialist. Because of pandemia, I stayed at home almost one year. I had more free time during that period to dedicate to my hobbies. ⠀ I’m Russian, but I’ve been living in Italy for almost 8 years, since the moment when with my international family (my husband is Italian) I arrived here 🇮🇹. Being looking for a new job in Italy 6 years ago, I understood that in this country it’s very hard to find a job to a stranger. That’s why I had started to think about my own activity. ⠀ Having different hobbies I tried many of them. I made felt home decorations, baby cockade, crochet toys and baby booties… Finally, I chosen the knitting as a principal activity. Since almost 3 years I create knitting designs for babies. I try to make them both comfortable for babies and easy for knitters. My aim is to create cute and clear patterns what even a knitting beginner could realize.
