The Grand Enlightenment - Chapter 01
01 | 02 | 03 | 04 | 05 | 06
Summary: Koushiro and Hikari are dating, and they've been keeping it a secret from everybody else. But as it goes with any secret, well-kept or not, discoveries are bound to happen in the end.
Rated: T / Comedy & Romance
Ships: Koukari & featured/mentioned: Taiora, Kenyako, and Mimato
Notes: AU / Diverges from the Kizuna storyline. Inspired by FRIENDS. Dedicated to @earlgreymon - I would not have wanted to write for Koukari a second time if it wasn't for her.
Originally for #enlightenmonth but here we are missing events and nearing a few more. I can't keep up
You can read below the cut, or click here: AO3 | FFN
~*~*~*~*~*~
The year was 2010. Many of the Chosen Children were working their way towards their career paths, while the others were still honing their craft, or studying their way through university, hoping the answer to life would appear somehow.
Koushiro was lucky to find as many answers as he had at his age. He had already graduated from university by the end of Taichi’s second year, and at 21 years old, he was the CEO of his own technology company.
Taichi had been Koushiro's roommate in their two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment for three years now, since the time he had left his parent’s home and moved out after high school. Koushiro’s startup was a success and he had earned enough to buy his own place by that point. But he was used to having Taichi as a roommate; they were best friends, so Koushiro liked living with him.
Just as much as he liked living across the hallway from Daisuke, Takeru, and Ken in the same apartment building. There was a lot of hustle and bustle between their apartments combined as they had frequent visitors among all of the Chosen, and the three younger boys visiting Taichi and Koushiro’s apartment nearly every other day. Koushiro had learned to block out the noise, especially when he needed to focus, but it was a wonder that the rest of the building hadn’t reported any noise complaints against the two apartments. Taichi himself might as well have been a noise complaint on his own - he was usually the most jovial amongst their friends; and, not to mention those evenings when Sora stayed the night.
Koushiro had less to complain about lately, including one Friday evening when he happened to have the apartment to himself. Taichi had gone over to Sora’s place; and since Taichi’s schedule was free from classes the next day, he was not going to return to the apartment that night.
So, Koushiro relaxed in his moment of freedom, wearing a casual shirt and jeans, but adding a touch of gel to his hair from what he had already worn earlier that day at his office. He spritzed on some cologne because he wanted this night to be special.
A knock came at the door, and he couldn’t help but smile when he opened it. Hikari was standing there, and she looked as beautiful to him as ever.
“Hey,” he whispered.
Hikari smiled. “Hello,” she whispered back.
Out of habit, Koushiro peered over Hikari’s shoulder and around the empty hallway, eyeing the closed door across the hall. Hikari had looked around as well, but soon after, Koushiro took her by the hand to pull her inside, allowing her to close the door behind her.
Then, she leaned forward to greet him with a kiss - a kiss that nearly took his breath away.
“Hello, handsome,” she said, this time her voice raised to normal, her tone bubbly.
“Hey, Hikari,” Koushiro replied in his attempt not to sound breathless. He found it hard to use pet names, even though he wanted to call her ‘beautiful’.
Hikari giggled, then pulled him close for an embrace. He felt her breathe in. “Mmm, you smell nice.”
He took note of the sweet, floral scent on her, but his cheeks burned as he knew that he was too meek to say the same. Instead, he settled for holding their embrace for a few more seconds, with the knowledge that the moments he had with her that night was worth savoring.
Especially since no one had known that he and Hikari had been dating for a month.
They had prided themselves for keeping this secret from their circle of friends for so long. Luckily for them, the two of them were the least suspicious of anything out of everyone; therefore, the best two at keeping secrets and coordinating with each other whenever they interacted with the members of their group. Mimi and Miyako were intuitive enough to sense that Hikari and Koushiro had new ‘special someones’ in their lives, but they were so far out of their minds to even connect the dots.
Hiding this fact from Taichi had been their greatest achievement, but with Koushiro as his roommate and best friend, and Hikari as his younger sister, Taichi’s discovery was actually their greatest fear.
Another peck from Hikari had wiped the mixture of thoughts from Koushiro’s mind.
“So,” Hikari said, moving her hands from around his back to his arms. “I stopped by the market on the way here for ingredients to make us some dinner.”
“Are you sure?” he asked her. “You must be tired from being at uni all day. Why don’t we heat up some instant yakisoba?”
Hikari scrunched her eyebrows. “Nonsense! I will make you some from scratch. It’ll taste much better, I promise.”
“I’m sure it will.”
“And after that,” Hikari drew closer again. “We can watch something together, like a movie, and after that, maybe…"
Koushiro’s felt his heart beating more quickly for some reason. "Maybe… what?"
"You know… since it'll be just the two of us here by ourselves, we could…"
"...Enjoy the movie in each other's comfort?" Koushiro guessed.
Hikari paused, then she laughed, her cheeks turning pink.
"You can be so clueless about this. It's charming."
"Charming? I guess I wouldn't think of myself that way."
"Of course you wouldn't. That's part of your charm." Hikari giggled again at Koushiro's curious stare. "I wouldn’t be here to spend time with you and make you dinner otherwise."
She let go of his arms and turned to face the kitchen. As she took a step towards it, Koushiro took her wrist, stopping her. What she had been trying to say suddenly clicked in his head.
"What if I suggested for these events to be out of order?" Koushiro asked.
"What did you want to do first?" she asked.
"Well… the part that was meant for after the movie…"
His face was heating up again, but this time, his eyes were fixated on Hikari, who gave him a look of surprise.
“Really? You want to…?”
Koushiro nodded.
Hikari’s lips curled into a smile, the kind that he recognized when she was being playful. The kind that urged him to kiss those lips again. So when he drew her in like a magnet, her lips met his once more, and he gladly accepted. He kissed her back, his heart drumming in his chest as his hands wrapped around her waist, and her body closing in until her chest pushed up against his.
That “part” he was talking about was unexplored territory for him and Hikari. They had been taking their intimacy at a slow pace, and they had found pockets of time to sneak away with each other, stealing kisses here and there, even making out in each others’ rooms before their respective roommates showed up. But this time, Koushiro predicted that they would have no interruptions, and if they both wanted to end up in his bed that night, there would be no stopping them.
Not even a step was taken toward Koushiro’s bedroom when the front door opened.
“Kouuushiroooo!” came Daisuke’s voice. “I’m bored, let’s game…”
Both Hikari and Koushiro ripped apart from each other, but they were a second too late. They both faced Daisuke’s widened eyes and jaw which dropped so far it might as well have hit the ground.
“Daisuke!” cried Hikari, mortified. “Don’t you ever knock?!”
Gah! Koushiro thought in his head, but he might have said it aloud. He had been too enamored with Hikari to have forgotten to lock the door when she arrived. He gathered that her immediate reaction toward Daisuke was out of her guilt for the same reason.
“No, no way!” Daisuke said with surprised laughter in his voice. “Kou is your mystery boyfriend?! And Hikari’s your secret lover?”
“Daisuke!” Hikari repeated, her face turning as red as Koushiro knew his face appeared.
“Oh, man! I can only imagine what would happen if Taichi found out-”
Hikari started toward Daisuke, but Koushiro was faster, with his fear, panic, and anger surging all at once. He held Daisuke by the shirt collar and mere inches away from his face.
“You cannot tell Taichi,” Koushiro spat, and he realized that the tone of panic must have prevailed based on how his voice sounded. Still, his forcefulness seemed to have caught Daisuke frightened.
“Whoa, I didn’t think this would be so serious-” Daisuke sputtered.
“Please, Daisuke, promise you won’t tell him, or anyone else!” begged Hikari at Koushiro’s side.
“Alright! Alright…” After a few moment’s pause, Daisuke’s stare relaxed, but his next question threw the other two for a loop. “What’s in it for me?”
“Why would we owe you anything?!” Koushiro asked incredulously.
“This is a pretty big secret, and you know how terrible I am at keeping them. And when it comes to Taichi, there’s no way I could keep this from him.  I’d like some compensation.”
For a head like his that was always full of ideas, Koushiro was running short of them at that moment. He let go of Daisuke’s collar, having no idea what would appease Daisuke for something like this.
“Ramen,” Hikari replied suddenly. “You can cook for us,” she continued. “We’ll critique it for you.”
Daisuke’s eyes softened. This was something that Koushiro knew meant a great deal to Daisuke, as he was studying and aspiring to be in the culinary field. Not a day had gone by that he boasted about his skills and he had begged everyone in his friends group to at least taste his food to help learn what worked and what needed improvement.
Koushiro was in awe of Hikari hitting the nail on the head with this idea, and it made him adore her more than ever.
“Do you guys really mean that?” Daisuke asked, and Koushiro swore that Daisuke’s eyes were getting glassy.
“Yes! We do!” Hikari replied, and Koushiro nodded enthusiastically. “Hikari and I will enjoy your ramen together!”
“You guys… are the best!!” Daisuke stood up, then hugged Koushiro and then Hikari tightly. Koushiro smiled widely along with Hikari, knowing that they both were laughing in relief.
Then, Daisuke laughed aloud in his glee, and he balled his hands into fists and held them at his sides. “Ah, well! Nothing like a couple devouring my best noods ! Wait, that didn’t come out right…”
Koushiro blinked in confusion, then turned to Hikari once more, and she shrugged as she smiled with embarrassment in reply.
~*~*~*~
After a few hours of practicing ikebana, Sora needed some fresh air. The first idea that appeared in her mind was to check on her friends. It was easy for her - she could pay a visit to one place and she could check mark five of her male friends’ names from the list, one of those males being her boyfriend, Taichi.
That day, she had been hoping to run into Koushiro, whom she hadn’t seen in a while. Her frequent visits had come to a halt lately, but at least Taichi stopped by her place to see her whenever he had the chance.
When she stepped off of the train, she wondered who she would see this time. Taichi had yet to respond to her text message, but even if he nor Koushiro were away, Someone was always at the other apartment for her to chat with. That was always something she expected.
What she did not expect as she stepped along the platform was to catch Koushiro's spiky red hair from the corner of her eye. She watched him quickly move through the platform with someone and turn a corner. Going on her instinct, she followed them, and she kept herself at a distance to remain unnoticed, but she was able to recognize that “someone” who sat on a bench so close to Koushiro. That petite someone who had a short bob haircut and who was slightly shorter than he was, but their head tilted upward for her lips to lock with his.
That someone who was Hikari.
Sora nearly dropped her shoulder bag, just as she heard her phone ring from inside. When she saw who was calling, her eyes widened, and she quickly took a deep breath, hoping to exhale her shock and fright before answering his call.
“Hey, Taichi,” she said. “You home?”
“I’m just leaving from work. You?”
“Oh, well I was just heading to see- uh- Koushiro-!”
Her mouth hung open as she watched the two, shamelessly kissing each other like that. Sure, they were behind a wall that was normally easily missed by any passersby, but to be out in public-!
“Huh? Koushiro?” Taichi asked.
Sora swallowed her shock and gathered herself to give Taichi a reply. “I was going to stop by the apartment to say hello.”
“Really? Want me to meet you there?”
“No-”
She realized that her answer might have been too quick. She turned around and began to head in the direction away from Koushiro and Hikari, as though every frantic step further would make Taichi less suspicious. “No. I’ll be there a short while before heading back to my place. It might take too long for you to get here. Why don’t you meet me at mine? Then we can figure out what to do then?”
Sora expected Taichi's silence for him to figure out that her suggested route made sense. She also welcomed his silence for her to process what she had just seen. Koushiro? Hikari? Together? How long had they been seeing each other? How serious was it? Did any of their friends know? Did Taichi know?
There was no way that Taichi could have known. He teased Koushiro for being a top secret "playboy", and he bickered with Hikari about any of her love interests, even if she refused to tell him any names.
"I guess I’ll take the train straight to your place then," Taichi said, then, he added with a tease, "Don’t stay too long with Koushiro. You know I’m the sensitive, protective type. I might start thinking that you’re his secret girlfriend, or something.”
Sora laughed, but not out of amusement.

while it's not over yet, i think i can conclude my own submissions for this year's enlightenmonth. i thought i could squeeze in a new chapter for the sinensis affair for free days, but since i'm adjusting to my new job, guess i'll just enjoy the freedom of being free and take a rest—because that's the beauty of our dearest, slow-paced, enlightenmonth :)
massive thanks to @izumiyagami14 @seventeenlovesthree and @hallowed-nebulae for being a great pack of fireflies and swarming along this may! iヽ(o^ ^o)ノ know i haven't reblogged everything in my personal blog, but that's because i want to properly show my gratitude and emotions toward your amazing works. also, to those fireflies who plan to join on the free day, or even any other month, feel free! the @koushirohikari will always be ready to reblog all the koukari goodness!
onto the next project: in a few hours, @digiweek will release the prompts for this year. there are a lot of things i want to say, but i guess i should keep my mouth shut for now hehe.

enlightenmonth 2022! ✨
hello fireflies! thank you for filling out the interest check. we are pleased to announce another enlightenmonth this year, which will be held in may 2022, because it is said that fireflies start to emerge late spring, just before the summer ;)
— how does this work? enlightenmonth is a one-month challenge, with prompts changing every four days to give more time to prepare. for each span, there are two prompts available. feel free to pick one of the prompts for each day, or if you are up for some challenge, you can always mix both. pick both prompts for two different works? why not!
— but i can't join in may! no worries; do your own enlightenmonth in any other months! if you want to start early on march or april, please do too! (also, you can always put your submissions on queue/schedule too...)
— i can only join on the first week!
this is a very chill challenge, so do not feel pressured or obliged! it's okay for you not to finish, only participate in several days (because you're busy or you're not clicked with the prompts), or even participate simply as an observer.
— what kind of things i can post? any fan contents (art, fic, video, headcanons, etc). no specific genre or boundaries (language, rate, etc) as long as they are about the relationship of koushiro izumi and hikari yagami—which may also include their best partners, tentomon and tailmon. what kind of relationship, you ask? anything. platonic friends, brother-sister, romantic, or even rivalries.
— what are the prompts? day 1-4: friends/family day 5-8: work/holiday day 9-12: dance/music day 13-16: rain/shine day 17-20: fall/bloom day 21-24: magic/science day 25-28: go out/stay in prompted challenge officially ends on day 28, but for day 29, 30 and 31, you have the liberty to do anything you like. post other koukari things that are not prompt-related? sure! publish the works from any other days you weren't able to finish timely? go ahead! take a break and do nothing? yes, you deserve it!
— how can i interpret the prompts? any way you like, literally or figuratively. just because it goes with rain, shine doesn't always mean sunshine. fall, besides autumn, can also mean falling in love... or falling to the trap of piemon, perhaps.
— any specific tags? we're always tracking #koukari, and please don't forget about it as our aim is to spread more love to this dynamic. you can add #enlightenmonth or #enlightenmonth 2022.
let's illuminate the fandom with koukari! (graphic source credit to graffart and grave of fireflies)

Dusk to Dawn
enlightenmonth // [day 1-4] morning or and evening Summary: after a long night of hanging with friends, Hikari asks Koushiro to walk her home. As they walk together in the late night, they ask each other deep questions take enlighten their perspectives on one another. Happy Enlightenmonth, everyone! I’m so excited to see everyone’s work! Bear with me with my writing (haven’t written anything Koukari in a couple years…) I hope as the month goes along my stories will be better!
Two silhouettes walked side by side down the house’s walkway, away from the loud tempo beats and laughing crowds. The chirping of crickets and the cooing of doves drowned out the upbeat music with each step the two took away from their friend’s house. Koushiro’s hands were shoved in his pockets and his eyes were locked on the ground beneath him. Hikari, on the other hand, was light on her feet and humming a soft tune.
“Aww, you two are leaving so soon? But the party just started!” A voice shouted from the balcony of the house, causing the two to stop in their tracks and turn around.
“Yeah, Mimi! I have something to do in the morning and asked Koushiro to walk me home!” Hikari shouted back. “Thank you for inviting us! Tell Taichi that I will meet him at home!”
“Will dooo~! Thanks for coming!” And with that, Mimi skipped back into the party.
As soon as the balcony door slid shut behind her, Koushiro let out a long, unknowingly held breath and the two continued walking. “For only being back from America for this short of time-,”
“She sure does know a lot of people,” Hikari finished his sentence. She glanced over at the boy next to her. His hands still in his pockets and eyes still on the ground. He looked so tense from where he was.
Koushiro mumbled under his breath, “What did she mean ‘the party just started?’ It’s almost three in the morning.” A tiny giggle escaped Hikari’s lips from his statement, causing him to look up at her and slow his pace. She skipped along the path in front of him, still humming to herself.
After a couple minutes quietly observing the optimistic girl, he managed to ask, “So, what do you have in the morning?”
Hikari stopped humming and slowed down a bit. “I’m, uh, meeting a friend for pancakes in the morning. Haven’t seen them in a while.”
Koushiro squinted his eyes at the sound of her wavering voice, but decided best to ignore it. He let out another uneasy breath and trudged along.
As the two walked side by side, Hikari could sense the tenseness slowly radiating from the boy. She could hear the overthinking gears in his head. Every thought. Every calculation. Every probability. It needs to stop.
“Hey, Koushiro?” Hikari asked, looking up at him.
“Hmm?”
“What’s your favorite childhood memory?”
His head quickly turned to meet her gaze. Flustered, he responded, “What? Why would you want to know that?”
“Just trying to make some conversation, silly. We still have a while until we’re back at the good old Yagami residence.”
“Huh? Favorite childhood memory...” he repeated the question, bringing his hands finally out out of his pockets to run through his hair. “Let’s see...”
Even with his mind digging through his memories and thoughts overtaking his steps, she could see his shoulders loosened a bit and his hands were not ready go back home to his pockets just yet. She chuckled, “Take your time.”
When her eyes rested upon the boy’s face, they widened. A soft smile she had rarely seen before landed on his face. “I think my favorite childhood memory would have to be baking with my mom.”
His contagious smile found its way to her face. After admiring the unique sight for a moment, she said, “Now your turn, Koushiro. Ask me anything.”
“Okay...” He put a pondering hand under his chin. “What is something you’ve wanted to do for a while, but haven’t done it yet?”
Hikari copied his gesture and puffed out her cheeks in thought. “Hmm... Well, they’re many things. Write a poem. Bake a cake. Oh, I know! I’ve always wanted to see the sun rise above the ocean. All the pinks and purples and oranges mixing in the water below would be an amazing sight to see.”
Koushiro was a little shocked by her answer. “You mean to tell me you haven’t-,”
“Nope! Not yet. It’s on the tippy top of my list of things to do though.” She said, making a stacking gesture with her hand as she spoke.
“I would have thought that you have seen it at least once....” He was still stunned by her remark.
Hikari shook her head and exhaled a laugh. “Just haven’t had the time to, I guess.”
Their conversation was stopped abruptly as they reached a fork in the path. One lead straight back to the Yagami residence, the other had a couple detours but did just the same. Koushiro started taking the first path, but Hikari stopped in her place, looking at her hands in front of her. When he realized she wasn’t following, he turned around.
“Hey, Hikari, is everything okay?” Koushiro said with a concerned look on his face. “I know I’m going the right way, so it couldn’t be that…” he mumbled, thinking of any possibility as to why she’s not following him.
“Everything’s fine. It’s just…” she inhaled deeply.
Koushiro gave a puzzled look, “Don’t you have something tomorrow? Let’s get you home safely.”
“About that…”
“What?” He asked, walking back toward her.
She responded, looking at her feet. “I might have…kind of made that up.”
Koushiro stopped walking and took a second to process what she said. “Then why did you ask me to walk you home?”
“To be completely honest with you,” she slowly replied, still avoiding his gaze, but walking toward him. “You looked a little uncomfortable being there. Sooo, I thought I could help with that.”
Koushiro’s eyes instantly grew wide and blood rushed to his cheeks. “You didn’t have to do that, Hikari. Now you’re missing the party.” Because of me. “Let’s go back-,” He started to turn back around.
“No, no!” She shouted, grabbing his arm and looking straight into his dark eyes. He looked upset with himself, something she did not want to see at all. “It is perfectly alright, Koushiro! I know that you love your friends and are willing to do anything for them, even when it puts you out of your comfort zone, but everyone’s ‘social battery’ runs out eventually.”
The two stood there in silence, her delicate hand still resting on his stiff arm. Koushiro let out an embarrassed sigh and looked into her eyes. “Are you positive?”
She smiled back at him. “I promise. It is completely okay with me. You don’t have to fight battles by yourself.” He tried to smile back at the girl in front of him, but his eyes darted downward to the hand still resting on his forearm. Hikari’s eyes followed his gaze and she moved her arm back to her side. “Besides, I don’t mind talking to you. I like your company.”
Koushiro brought a hand to the back of his head and scratched. Letting out another uneasy breath, he gathered enough courage, stuttering, “Hey, um... Do you want to take the longer way home? Since you apparently don’t have anything in the morning...”
Hikari smiled. “The more scenic route? I would love to.”
Silence fell between the two of them, but neither of them wanted it to stay. Hikari knew she had to think of something quick before he retaliated back to his old overthinking habits.
“New question,” she started.
“Ready when you are.”
“What’s your biggest regret?” She asked, keeping her eyes locked on his face to see any kind of expression. Sure enough, he was surprised by her choice of question.
He scrunched his eyebrows and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. “You are really bringing up deep questions.”
Hikari waved her hands in front of her. “You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.”
“No, no! It is quite alright,” he replied as he placed his hands back in his pockets.
A moment of silence allowed the cicadas to echo in the night sky and dance with the sound of the pair’s footsteps on the concrete. Hikari hopped onto the wooden outline of the path and started walking the line like a balance beam. Koushiro was still lost in thought until realization hit him.
“I think my biggest regret as of right now would have to be not hanging out with the other digidestined as much as I should.” He looked at his feet and started counting his steps to himself. It’s a trick he did to help his mind from wandering off. He wanted to leave it at that, but something urged him to keep talking. “I want to get to know each of you more and make that effort, it’s just been… difficult for me.”
Hikari slowly nodded her head and jumped back down to his side. She lightly nudged him with her elbow. “Well, you’re doing great right now.”
“Because it’s you.” He said before his thoughts got the best of him. He felt his face get hot from his words and brought his hands to his cheeks. “I mean… you’re easy to talk to. You don’t judge me. You understand, if that makes sense.” He paused for a second to think his way out of this. “Did I really look that uncomfortable at the party?”
She giggled before saying, “Just a tad.”
He grumbled in defeat. “Why am I like this?”
“Is that your next question for me?”
“Pardon?”
She laughed again. “It’s your turn to ask me a question. Was that it?”
Koushiro looked at the girl next to him and slowly shook his head. He saw what she was doing and smirked. Thanks to her, it was time to change the subject.
“Okay, Hikari…. What is your biggest joy in life?”
“Oh, look at you with your deep questions now.” She giggled, causing a blush to form on Koushiro’s cheeks.
“I’m just making my observations.” He defended himself.
She looked up to the night sky and subconsciously started counting the stars. It didn’t take her long to count all of them since there was too much light pollution from the city. “I guess my biggest joy in life is… I don’t know, I can’t pick just one.”
Koushiro cocked his head to the side. “Well, what did you have in mind?”
“Well, there’s my family-my biggest support system. There’s being with my friends, like Takeru, you, Sora… but I also find joy in helping others,” she sighed and glanced over at him, who was already staring at her.
When they made eye contact, his eyes darted away and looked back at the ground. “You can have many joys in life. I don’t want to make you choose just one.”
When he said that, Hikari stopped walking and looked up again. “What time is it?”
He pulled out his hand out of his pocket and looked at his watch. “It is 4:17am to be exact.”
“Golly, time is flying by,” she responded.
Koushiro hummed in agreement and turned his head to the left. He saw a path winding around the corner and the light bulb went off in his head. “Let’s go this way,” he pointed the different direction. “There’s something I want to show you.”
A little startled by his change of mood and curious by what he meant by that, Hikari gave a slight nod. “Okay.” The birds in the trees started singing their early morning tune as the two walked. “My turn then…” she started. “Where is the one place where you feel most like yourself?”
“Uh…” For the first time in a long time, Koushiro’s mind went blank. He continued to look anywhere but at her. “I honestly don’t know.”
“Really?” She smiled softly at him, trying to figure out an answer for him.
He gathered enough courage to glance back at her and his face flushed. “Hey, quit smiling at me! I can’t focus when you look at me like that.”
“Like what?” She teased, smiling even wider.
“Like that!” He says, throwing his hands in the air and gesturing to her face like she was supposed to know what he meant. “I don’t know, Hikari… I guess when I’m not worried about what others think.” Like when I’m with you.
“Hmm,” she hummed in response.
Distant waves from the approaching shoreline echoed in the dimly lit sky. Koushiro’s hand slightly brushed Hikari’s, causing him to pull hiss hand immediately back. He fumbled and fidgeted
“Do you believe in true love?” He mustered before he realized, shoving his hands back in his pockets and keeping his eyes to the ground.
“What? Why would you want to know that?” She teased again, crossing her hands behind her back and leaning forward to look at his face. His flustered face always made her smile.
“It’s my turn to ask a question,” he objected. “To be completely honest with you, I’m not entirely sure. Just… curious.”
After some thought, she said, “Well, true love could mean many things and could be between any two people. Mom, dad, sisters, brothers, friends, digimon partners, couples. It’s about unconditionally caring about someone. Putting their well-being before your own. Taking time to make them smile or doing things for them without asking. Surprising them. Talking to them about anything. Helping them achieve their goals. Respecting and accepting each other. Being a team.”
As she went on and on about this topic, Koushiro couldn’t help but admire her enthusiasm. The way her face lit up when she thought of something else to tie in. The way she made huge gestures with her arms. The way her voice picked up speed. He just smiled as they continued to walk side by side, taking in the sight of the passionate girl beside him.
When Hikari realized what she was doing, she laughed. “I’m sorry, Koushiro. What was the question?”
Koushiro stopped walking and sat down on a bench next to the shoreline. “I asked if you believed in true love.”
Hikari breathed out and sat next to him. She closed her eyes and listened to the waves crashing against the rocky shore. “Well, what do you think?”
He chuckled and looked out at the shore. “Well, from your passionate monologue, I would assume yes,” he responded quietly.
“Yeah,” she exhaled. “Yeah, then I guess so,” she replied softly, looking out for a brief second and then turning her head to meet his gaze.
The two sat there for a while, not breaking away eye contact. Koushiro unknowingly held his breath until Hikari broke the silence.
“So, what did you want to show me?”
“Well, in about two minutes and 39 seconds, you’re going to find out.”
Hikari raised an eyebrow and looked out toward the sea. Her heart fluttered when she realized what he meant by that. Right on cue, the pinks and purples and oranges mixed together in the sky. The rays of lights sent a beautiful radiant glitter on the water below. The glow glistened in her eyes as she sat there in complete awe.
Instead of witnessing the glorious sun rise from the horizon, Koushiro had his sights set on the girl next to him. He was completely mesmerized by the way the sunlight kissed her face.
“Wow… it’s so beautiful,” she whispered.
Still looking at her, he smiled softly and replied, “Yeah… pretty prodigious.”
Hikari took a deep breath and placed her hand on top of Koushiro’s hand. He did not tense up from her touch. “Thank you,” she said, meeting his eye contact.
“It was my pleasure,” he replied, his heart beating a little too fast. He hoped the sound of the crashing waves covered that.
The two sat there next to each other in the morning sun. Words left unspoken about the night we’re about to make way to this moment, when all of a sudden, a buzzing sound came from Hikari’s phone and her eyes widened from the caller ID.
“Taichi, hi! No, yeah! I’m so sorry for not telling you where I am! Where am I? I’m still out with Koushiro. Yeah, we are taking the more scenic route back.” She stood up from the bench, indicating for Koushiro to stand up as well. “I’m sorry for worrying you. I’ll be home in a bit. Okay, bye.”
Koushiro cleared his throat. “Let’s get you home then.”
Hikari smiled at him, hoping to have more times like this. “Okay.”

4 Sorato - but Sora has the black eye! And if you feel like it: 141 Koukari and 136 Kenyako
My first writing in moooonths! Thanks for this prompt!
Ojalá te guste :)
Enjoy!
“I just finished band practice and I’m ready to get some ice-cream if you’re still up to it :)” Yamato texted Sora. Event though they had been dating for over five months, his hands still managed to shake whenever he was texting her. How dumb of him…
“I don’t really know if that’s a good idea…” she texted back; Yamato was caught off guard.
“Did something happen at tennis practice?”
“I’ll see you outside the girls’ restroom in five minutes.” Yamato wasn’t part of the people who enjoyed running, but he ran as fast as his legs let him, bass on his back and everything else, because he could feel something had happen to, er, his girlfriend. And he couldn’t help but feel worried.
“Sora! What in the world happen, are you ok?” Sora’s right hand was completely covering her right eye, as if her hand could magically turn into an eye-patch.
“I’m fine, I’m fine! Just… don’t be so loud,” she took his arm with her free hand and pulled him into an empty hallway. “You have to promise you’re not going to laugh!”
“I won’t, just tell me what happened I’m getting really anxious over here!” Sora removed her hand from her eye and Yamato immediately gasped. “Who gave you that black eye? Was it Akira? She always gets too competitive; we need to let the coach know ASAP!”
“Yamato, Yamato!” She held his hands, his eyes static on hers. “It wasn’t her; it wasn’t anyone actually.”
“What do you even mean it wasn’t anyone?”
“I gave this black eye to myself; it was an accident.”
“You’ll have to explain that better, because as far as I know people don’t go walking around giving themselves black eyes.”
“You’re funny,” she rolled her eyes, hurting herself a bit. “I was practicing, hitting some balls against the wall and I ended up miscalculating,” her cheeks blushed, how could she have been so silly?
“Are you serious?”
“Yes, I am, and now I can’t go back home because my mom will get so mad…”
“Isn’t her flower exposition tomorrow?”
“Precisely! How am I supposed to show up looking like this!” she cupped her own face, pressing her cheeks. “I’ll just have to move to your house for a bit, or something.”
“Sora…” he deeply blushed, thinking for a second about Sora living with him and his dad was enough for his mind to travel far.
“I’m sorry, I just don’t know what to do,” her words tumbling against one another, her breathing quick. “Is it bad?”
“Well, not really…” whenever Yamato lied, his voice went high pitched. And right now, it was the highest Sora had ever heard his voice be.
“You’re lying! Oh God, what am I going to do!”
“Let’s not panic, we can ask Jou for help.”
“How did I not think that? I’m so glad one of us is logical!” she smiled; the first smile Yamato had seen that day come out of her lips. He felt happy, not because he hadn’t failed at being a good boyfriend, but because Sora looked relived.
“You know what?”
“Ummhm?”
“That black eye suits you,” she rolled her eyes, kissing his cheek softly, as they changed their ice-cream date to a visit to doctor-to-be Kido Jou.

can i have a koukari in 10? it can be romantic/platonic, i just need the combination needs more love :D thank you!
Number 10: “I know you’re not a fan of Valentine’s day…I just thought that maybe I could change your mind…”
Characters: Koushiro x Hikari. I’ve never written for Koukair, but I find the pair so fascinating. I’ve been working on this for a month, but it still reads kind of clumsy and awkward. However, I want to write more of the two of them, so hopefully practice will make perfect. ALSO, I am going to rewrite this in the future, but I just wanted to get something out to you in the meantime :)
Feel free to send me a prompt!
Hikari had never been one to avoid confrontation. She liked to think herself as diplomatic; easily navigating the relationships around her. It wasn’t until a messy-haired ginger waltzed into her heart with his nervous chatter that her heart began to waver.
Somewhere along the messy business of growing up, her heart began to flutter whenever he was near. Hikari wasn’t avoiding confrontation per say; she was avoiding Koushiro. There was a clear distinction between the two (or so she believed).
Her red pen marked one day closer to Valentine’s.
Like most girls her age, Hikari typically spent the days leading up to the holiday in a frenzy of melted confectionaries and drafts of handwritten notes. This year, however, she planned to lay low. She couldn’t trust herself not to get caught up in the excitement an accidently make Koushiro honmei chocolates instead of the customary giri.
After wrapping seven sets of identical chocolates – her friends would never forgive her if she forgot them- Hikari began to wonder if chocolates were the way to go. In all the years that she had known Koushiro, she had never known him to be particularly fond of sweets. Unlike the other boys, he preferred the bitter taste of hot tea or a protein bar. Chocolate, she decided, would be a no-go.
“Onii-chan?” she asked, rousing Taichi away from scavenging through the refrigerator. He grunted, frozen corndogs in clutch. “Do you know if Koushiro-san is busy tomorrow?” Hikari mused, trying her best to sound nonchalant over the pounding of her heart. Why was she so nervous? She had no idea.
Shoving two of the corndogs into their toaster oven, Taichi answered with a shrug of his shoulders. “How am I supposed to know? You could just send him a text.”
A mixing spoon clattered onto the kitchen floor. Hikari jumped in surprised, narrowly avoiding the droplets of melted chocolate that ricocheted in her direction. Her brother was not as quick on his feet. “Hey, watch it!” He struggled to wipe the sticky syrup from his face. Glops hung from his hair, but Hikari stifled her giggles. As beep of the toaster oven regained the attention of the older, less graceful Yagami, Hikari allowed herself to breathe a quick sigh of relief before cleaning up the mess.
-
Morning sunshine filled her bedroom with an ethereal glow, but Hikari’s eyes nervous glanced over to the cat-themed calendar on her wall. The angry red circle seemed to lasso itself around her thin shoulders, constricting her stomach into tight knots: it was Valentine’s Day.
But luck appeared to grace her with one favor; it also happened to be a Saturday.
Seven little pouches of neatly wrapped chocolates guarded her bedside table, making the gift bag appear even more out-of-place. Late into the night, she swallowed her pride, realizing that if she wanted to have any chance of getting through to Koushiro, it would have to be more personal that a standardized gift.
Dressing herself in her favorite pink skirt and ladybug-hairclip (partly for good luck, partly to see if Koushiro would notice), Hikari dropped one of the bags in front of Taichi’s door before giving her mother a kiss goodbye.
“Goodluck today, sweetie!” Her mother called out. Hikari’s mother - who didn’t even realize that Gatomon was a living creature until three months of her being there – took note of the tension in her daughter’s shoulders. Flashing a quick, tight-lipped smile behind her, Hikari disappeared into the light of midday.
Once she was seated on her bicycle, Hikari allowed the breeze to carry her anxieties away. It was only Koushiro. Some of her earliest memories of childhood were stained with his fiery hair. His quick wit was more coveted than her brother’s bravery, and there were days that his smile warmed her like sunshine. She had seemingly known him forever; how could she be afraid? The bicycle wheel clicked to a stop, and Hikari wished courage was hereditary.
Gift bag in clutch, the young girl nervously fixed her appearance in the reflection of the window. The ladybug charm shone brightly amongst her bangs, and she absentmindedly wondered if he would like it. Flipping her cell phone open, digitalized numbers told her what she already knew: it was now or never.
Hikari sent Koushiro a text letting him know that she was there. She perched herself on a bench, folding her hands in her lap to keep from fidgeting. The sun warmed her shoulders, the heat adding to her anticipation. “Hello, Hikari-chan.” Koushiro’s voice washed over her. His shadow loomed over her, offering some reprieve from the sunshine.  Through her squinted eyes, she did her best to read his facial expressions. When she made no move to speak, he motioned for her to follow him.
Hikari let the silence filtered between them for a few beats, sighing in appreciation as the air conditioning enveloped her. “You know,” she began, hands clammy around the handles of his present, “It’s about time for your lunch break.”
Koushiro only hummed in agreement, turning the corner to his office. His khaki pants were wrinkled compared to the crisp pleats of Hikari’s skirt. She noted the tense outline of his shoulders and shadows underneath his eyes. “Have you been sleeping alright?”
“I’ve been sleeping as much as I can, but I still have so much to work on.”
As they crossed the threshold into Koushiro’s workspace, Hikari did her best to cover her surprise. She had almost forgotten how shiny the floors could be without its usual coating of trash and debris. He stood sheepishly in the middle of the room; hands buried deep in the pockets of his pants.
“Wow, you’ve cleaned! It looks great!” she praised, eyes glittering in appraisal.
“Well,” his hand found its way to the back of his neck, “I knew that you were coming over.” It could have been any combination of his rosy cheeks, downcast eyes or subtle confession, but there was a hum of anticipation in the air. To avoid her heated stare, Koushiro sat behind his computer, fingers clasped in his lap.
Her hair fluttered around her face as she thrust her gift in his direction. “Here, this is for you.” As Koushiro took the bag from her, he allowed his fingers to linger a second longer than necessary. Blurting out his obligatory “Arigatōgozaimashita”, he methodically removed his favorite flavor of tea and bags of jellybeans. Hikari clasped her hand behind her back, doing little to conceal her anxiety.
The bags of tea and snacks sat listlessly in Koushiro’s lap, his eyebrows furrowed close together. If she hadn’t been so nervous, Hikari might have laughed at how the resembled to little caterpillars on his forehead.
“I know you’re not a fan of Valentine’s day…I just thought that maybe I could change your mind…” Hikari faced colored, eyes staring intently at the shine of Koushiro’s dress shoes. The room was eerily silent, the buzz of anticipation dancing around them like static.
His office chair squeak as his weight shifted, shoes moving closer to her own. Hikari’s head tilted the slightest bit upwards. She couldn’t breathe. He took a step closer, cheeks aflame. Koushiro’s eyes fluttered shut as he leaned in slowly, hand bringing itself to rest at the small of her back. Anticipation burned in her stomach; her heart was doing somersaults in her chest. His fingers reached out to run themselves through her hair but got caught.
“What’s this?” He mused, words no more than a whisper that ghosted over her lips.
“A ladybug” her breath mingled with his.
He leaned in.

Just such a shame that my favourite boy Taichi’s event and my new found obsession KouKari’s event decided to clash with my ultimate obsession aka Beyblade month, cuz I would’ve loved to make content for either but ya know, can only do one event at a time and Mayblade is just packed with amazing prompts 🥰
(Can’t even rb stuff the now cuz I don’t want the Beyblade stuff to drown on my page, it should be the highlight.)

How he longed | Koukari Enlighten Month 2021
Koukari Kingdom AU series [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Day 5-8: Hug/Longing | Characters: Koushiro (pov), Hikari, Taichi | Genre: Fluff | Wordcount: 244
xxx
How he longed
Koushiro kind of envied Taichi. Not that he wanted to be a king, not at all, the opposite. Koushiro loved his role and work as a royal adviser. But every time he looked at Taichi, he envied him anyway.
It was the way he was able to be all close and physical with his loved ones, taking every opportunity to cuddle when the outside world wasn’t watching him. He and his wife Sora were incredibly touchy in between the bickering, holding each other in warm embraces as if to make sure not to ever lose one another. Taichi also loved to place reassuring hands on employee’s shoulders when they needed it.
On top of that the bond with his younger sister Hikari looked like a very strong one.
They hugged a lot, talked for hours, cried together, laughed together. To Koushiro it seemed like a close relationship between siblings and he longed to have a bond like that with someone one day.
Or maybe he longed to have a bond like that with Hikari one day…
Struck by his own thought, his eyes widened. He shook his head.
“You okay there buddy?” Koushiro could hear Taichi saying, a reassuring hand gently placed on his shoulder. He quickly nodded even though he wasn’t sure and his eyes traveled back to where Hikari was, hugging her sister-in-law.
The reassuring touch of Taichi was a welcoming one, but oh, how he longed for one of Hikari’s hugs.

5 Works Tag Game
Rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
[Noct note: This includes headcanons and WIPs too! I hope I’m not spamming too much with fics and end of the year talk but I’d love to see everyone’s favorite creations from this year - even if you have one or two! Let’s celebrate the things that made us happy!! :D
If I tag you, don’t feel obligated to respond <3]
Tagging: @earlgreymon @tangledupblue @digidigi-monmon @patamon-ears @yoroyazu @calamansifresh @digitalworldbound @renchan7 @izzyizumi @ahiddenpath
I would love to read about your 2020 favorites! :D
My Five:
1) Takari Week Day 7: Comfort OR Healing/Taking Care Of
Takari Week was the first Tumblr Week event that I got to be a part of and it was SO MUCH FUN!! I loved all of my responses but this one is my favorite; I’m partial to angst.
2) Knives Out Headcanon
This was another first. Do you guys ever watch something and think ‘imagine the Digidestined in *this* setting’? That happens a lot with me.. and I thought putting them in this movie’s universe was so “out there” but I love those kinds of ideas ;)
3) "I’m never buying IKEA furniture again” (Koukari)
You know how you write a fic and you stop writing at the fluffy part because it was too cute to handle? Yeah, that’s what happened here. And it was amazing to see others feel the same way. XD <3
4) The Princess and the Dragon (Taiora, AU)
THERE WAS SO MUCH TAIORA (surprise, surprise) but I only wanted to choose one work. It was hard ranking my Taiora stuff personally LOL. But I’m going with this one because this one had hints of romance but was more about family love - Yagami siblings and of course, Papa Taichi and his baby girl <3
5) Effervescent Fires (Howl’s Moving Castle)
I hope to write more of this! I’ve been working on a fic about Calcifer. The idea of writing the story through the eyes of a cursed star/exasperated flame being is so fascinating to me. I can’t find the link to where I originally posted my excerpt (it was a few months ago but buried in the depths of Reddit, so I’m just going to post it under a cut. :D
The boy seemed to know this star's fate as he reached his arms up, holding out his palms for it to land. The star could tell as he settled with his gentle sparks leaving the boy's hands unharmed that this boy was no ordinary boy; this boy knew magic, and he could help him live.
The star could also tell that this boy wanted something in return. A contract? The star did not truly understand, but if it meant that he could avoid his fate for much longer, then he was willing to accept.
And so, with the boy’s inhale, the star was devoured and was met with darkness. It was a different kind of a falling, from all of the bright colors to none at all, until he stopped moving. After a moment’s pause, he felt a beat. A slow, steady tempo within him while his flames lit up in a soft blue.
The blue turned into bright orange as he flowed back out into the world and onto the boy’s palms once again. He was no longer a star on his way to the end; he was now a vivacious fire demon, entwined with the boy by the manner of his heart.
No words were spoken between them, but the fire gathered their introduction by contact.
The boy's name was Howl.
And his name: Calcifer.

Hey, I really like your blog! I thought I'd ask you -since you ship Hikari and Koushiro- if you had any headcanon about that pair?
First off, I’m so gladyou like my Blog 😃
Thank you so much for asking me this! I’m so glad I addedthat I was a Koukari (Koushiro x Hikari) shipper to my description now, I’mkind of in awe that I even got this ask
Okay, don’t worry this is just an appetizer before I get into the real meat of this ship, for now here are some simple koukari headcanons I have about what happens after they start dating
For their first date Koushiro insists on taking her out to a fancy restaurant and although Hikari doesn’t really like the idea she has difficulty saying no to him. While on the date Koushiro gets the feeling she isn’t very comfortable in fancy restaurants. They have a conversation about it afterwards and agree that it makes sense to be open about this stuff.
Hikari is much more of a ‘stay at home and ordering Takeout’ kind of girl, she likes curling up on the couch and watching movies with her boyfriend or just talking.
They can stay up talking for hours, about anything and everything. There is no rhyme or reason to their conversations, they jump from topic to topic with ease.
Hikari genuinely enjoys hearing Koushiro talk about computers, she thinks it’s very interesting and although she doesn’t understand everything he says she listens very carefully to him and he tries to explain it as best he can.
Sometimes he just goes on long tangents about something related to computers and Hikari gets completely lost, and he’s too into what he’s saying for her to have a chance to talk to him so he can slow down and explain. It’s okay though cause she knows sometimes he just needs to vent.
She also finds it kind of hot, Koushiro talking smart is one of Hikari’s turn ons.
Even though they have no problems holding a conversation they can also just sit in silence together for long stretches of time without it being awkward. In fact, that’s usually how their conversations go, they will talk about stuff for long stretches of time, then have sudden long stretches of silence where they just enjoy each others presence, then more talking.
Koushiro really admires Hikari whenever she stands her ground on something, even if she’s standing her ground against him
He used to buy her flowers every month but then he realized she gets kind of depressed when they die. So he decides to start giving her chocolate roses once a month instead cause she loves sweets and she doesn’t have to worry about them dying :P
His go to gift to give her is deserts when he can’t think of anything else to give her
When they first started dating he used to ask Taichi for advice on what to get Hikari before realizing pretty quickly that Taichi is pretty useless when it comes to that stuff
Every once in a while Taichi overhears Hikari mentioning something she would like and he always informs Koushiro about it.
Hikari always knows when Taichi has helped Koushiro find a gift, she always shows it off in front of him saying “look what Koushiro got me” so he knows he’s done good while also hiding the fact that she knows Taichi is helping out when he can
I’m going to have to do an entire post about Taiyama/ Koukari double dates because I’m telling you it would be all kinds of hilarious
When Koushiro and Yamato come over to the Yagami’s for dinner they always end up in the kitchen
These two are incredibly effective together in the kitchen. Yamato always ends up taking over and making whatever Yuuko has come up with as well as making some of his own dishes. Koushiro is an incredibly good assistant because he is fantastic at taking orders and is very exact, just the way Yamato likes it.
They always insist that Yuuko just take it easy cause they can totally handle it and Yuuko is happy to oblige; she finds it fascinating to sit at the table and watch them work, she’s kind of in awe of their team work
Koushiro and Hikari are the first of the Chosen to get married
Takeru is Hikari’s Maid of Honor (you know it’s true, don’t try to deny it)
Taichi is of course Koushiro’s Best Man. Taichi agrees to wear a suit and tie to the wedding but he doesn’t have his shirt tucked in and looses his jacket very early on, long before the ceremony begins, Hikari doesn’t mind since it was Yuuko who insisted on the suit in the first place.
They have two children, a boy and then a girl (of course). The boy is much older than the girl, there is like a 9 year age gap between the two of them. The boy is super nervous about being a big brother cause he doesn’t know what to do and isn’t sure if he is going to make a good big brother but he really wants to be. He goes to his uncle Taichi for advice and Taichi makes him feel a lot better about it.
They live in the city even when they grow old because Koushiro never retires, he likes his job too much and they need to stay in the city to be close to it.
Hikari loves to go visit her brother and Yamato at their country home though, Koushiro not so much
More in depth Headcanons to come soon as well as other Koukari content I’ve been working on, I’d also love to hear some of your Headcanons

Flowery facts
“Aren’t they pretty?” Sora said as she looked over the field with flowers, eyes beaming with joy.
Sora grew up in another kingdom where her mother was the gardener of the royal palace. One day Hikari and her brother had accompanied their parents to the other kingdom for a quite formal state visit. Hikari was still very young and couldn’t remember much, though the thing she could remember best was Sora and the way she had taken care of Hikari during their visit. Ever since that time Sora had been like a sister to her and it truly warmed Hikari’s heart.
It had warmed Taichi’s heart as well.
Every time their parents told them they were visiting the adjacent kingdom, Taichi was the first one screaming to tag along. Mom and dad thought he had a crush on princess Mimi, but it was Sora Taichi was interested in. Prioritizing his duty over his feelings, feeling obligated to marry a princess, Taichi kept those feelings hidden for everyone including Sora. Instead their bond blossomed into a strong friendship, the secret romantic feelings for his beloved Sora always with him as both a burden and a blessing.
It wasn’t until Mimi was married of to Taichi that he started protesting against the obligations. Luckily for him, Mimi had fallen in love with the royal musician so she protested too, but with no luck. Mimi who was friends with Sora as well, asked Sora to protest against the wedding by telling she had fallen in love with Taichi, and would be here to win him over. To everyone’s surprise and without any hesitations, Sora had said yes.
Suspicions rose and Mimi informed Taichi with the convenience of which he packed his backs and courage to travel to the other kingdom only to confess to Sora in the middle of a beautiful flower field. He had repeated random facts about different flowers he knew she loved, leading up to the moment of him confessing. All Hikari knew was that Sora had been speechless at first, but after overcoming the first shock (“but I thought I had to be the one to confess…”), she had answered him with a sweet kiss on the lips, making them fall right into the flowers. The rest was history and Hikari always swooned by the romantic image of her brother and her sister-in-law. If only she—
“Did you know the different colors of the Tsubaki* all have a different meaning?”
“Ah, adviser Izumi-san!” Sora said.
“Sorry for the interruption,” his voice sounded like a whispering song to Hikari. “And please, call me Koushiro, your Highness,” he bowed ninety degrees.
“And you know you can call me Sora, Koushiro-san,” she winked. “Oh and stop the bowing!” She waved with her hand to make him stop. Hikari chuckled, Sora hated all the formalities, just like Taichi. Hence why both of them took every opportunity to just be normal people safely between the walls of their castle.
“My bad, Sora-san.” He corrected himself before turning to Hikari, sweetly nodding in her direction. Hikari’s throat turned dry a little.
“Better. Anyway, I didn’t know you held an interest in flowers?” Sora smiled, one eyebrow raised showing her genuine interest.
Hikari had been quiet all this time, unable to say anything, watching their conversation flow. Her mind, however, was with Koushiro, wondering if he too had memorized facts about flowers. Hikari’s heart skipped a beat, her cheeks showing a pinky blush.
“I have an interest in knowing and learning as much things as I can. Flowers, however, are dearly to me. They remind me of my parents, you see…”
As Koushiro rambled on about the meaning of specific flowers, Sora nodded along with his sayings, every now and then chiming in. Hikari could only watch and listen, seeing and hearing the two persons she (secretly) admired so much. Sora looked at her between Koushiro’s ramblings, then the castle’s bells ringed.
“You know what?” Sora said, standing up abruptly grabbing Hikari’s wrist and pulling her to her. “You can tell princess Hikari-chan here everything about flowers! If you’ll excuse me, I have to check on my husband.” And without further ado she left Hikari and Koushiro behind.
Hikari gasped, her face heating up with a speed she couldn’t fight against. She hoped Koushiro would break the ice, but he looked a little panicked, so she shook her head and swallowed hard, trying to be bold like a true Yagami.
“W-What do you think of red roses, Koushiro…-san! Koushiro-san?”
It was the first flower that came into mind and of course it had to be the most romantic one. Her eyes grew wide, staring at Koushiro waiting for him to tell her it was an off question. But he didn’t, instead he smiled that smile she adored so much and Hikari swooned away upon seeing it, her heart making a somersault.
“I think they’re quite romantic.” A blush arose on his cheeks matching her own rosy ones. She herself mimicked his smile with one of her own. “Care to show me the red roses, Hikari-san?”
Like a real gentleman he offered her his arm and Hikari linked her arm with his, wanting nothing more than to show him the red roses and listen to all the flowery facts he could share with her.

*Tsubaki is Japanese for camellia. The white camellia means waiting, the yellow one is longing and the red camellia implies love.
