Blind Spots of Motherhood: Last Twilight, Episode 10
We're coming off of the emotional rollercoaster of last week's episode and seeing the consequences of Day and Mhok's getaway. And the consequences are big, which not even Night can assuage.
I love scouring the tags as I watch Last Twilight, and I've been seeing many call Day's mom evil or a narcissist. In my opinion, she does not fit the bill (if you're looking for one that is, go watch Twins, now that's a narcissist). There's a tendency of wanting to villainize mothers, and BLs do a great job of giving us mothers that do fill that role, but I sincerely don't think that's the story P'Aof is trying to tell us here. Rather than evil, I think her arc is more about being a flawed mother that does more harm than good through overparenting, her perceiving Day to be more vulnerable than he really is, and sidelining of Night.
Tumblr media
Stages of Adjustment to Vision Loss
Just like the seven stages of grief, similarly there's a theory about the seven phases of adjusting to vision loss. The Stages of Adjustment applies not only to the one suffering the vision loss, but even their friends and family.
Phase 1: Trauma, where personal attitudes and generalization form one's personal view of a person who is blind takes over.
Phase 2: Shock and Denial. Self-explanatory.
Phase 3: Mourning and Withdrawal, it's where the loss of regular activities and routines occur.
Phase 4: Succumbing and Depression occurs when an individual is unable to come to terms with the sudden low vision/blindness and they stop caring for themselves. Feelings of inadequacy becomes prevalent.
Phase 5: Reassessment and Reaffirmation occurs when individuals regain and maintain control of their life. Loved ones play a significant role in assisting them to reach this independence at this stage.
Phase 6: Coping and Mobilization happens when individuals develop coping techniques to live with the vision loss and acknowledge their abilities and accept when the need assistance.
Phase 7: Self-Acceptance and Self-Esteem occurs when the individual realizes that they have value and their loss of vision is just one of the many attributes.
When the Last Twilight first started, we met Day as he was dealing with Phase 3 and 4. With the help of Mhok, we've seen Day grow in his independence, but also come to terms that his vision loss may be forever. He no longer was thinking and hoping for that transplant surgery, he wasn't even counting on it anymore. Instead, with the help of Mhok (and Night), Day was able to reach Phase 6 and was transitioning into Phase 7.
But just as Day was moving on with his, his mother wasn't. She's still struggling with his disability and has gotten stuck in Phase 3 and 4, just as Day had been. She's so blinded by Day's disability, that she's drowning in the fears of what could happen to Day rather than seeing the strides of improvement that he has made.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overprotective Parenting fails in Harm Reduction: Day
"Expecting him to be independent at one time and overprotecting him at another will only result in a frustrated youngster. It is important to judge and treat the blind child fairly; not indulging him, yet not setting goals and expectations so high that he is discouraged." -The Blind Child: Becoming an Independent Adult
Day's mother is frustrating, to say the least. She is so incredibly misguided in how she treats both of her sons, it's no surprise that Day locks himself away into the cavern of his bedroom.
She only sees Day for his disability. Acknowledging and accepting that Day is blind is important, and that does signify life adjustments, but that doesn't mean making Day's blindness the only thing about him. She forgets that Day was a full-functioning adult that had his own lifestyle before he lost his sight. She's only come to known Day for his blindness. She's the one that puts his blindness at the forefront.
She wants him to get out of his bedroom, to stop locking people out, but once he has some sense of independence, apart from his family, now she's afraid? Her son, vision loss or no vision loss, is an adult, but instead of giving him such dignity, she regresses and infantilizes him. She pushes him back into that suffocatingly big bedroom. She takes away his phone, his internet, every tool that connects him to the outside world. She takes away what little independence he had started to build up again.
Any good parent would be worried about their child who has undergone a traumatic event, but over-protecting does more harm than good. In her anxieties, she ends up resorting to using unintentionally abusive tactics. Yes, Day would be physically fine, but in her overprotectiveness, she fails to realize that it could lead to dependency inducement, learned helplessness, and bouts of depression. Day's mother fails to realize that taking away any autonomy that Day has only started rebuilding, would only result in Day's emotional state worsening.
Blindness doesn't have to mean debilitating, but locking your son up in his room without any way to interact with the world around him that he is trying to relearn? That's more crippling than any vision loss could ever be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Readjusting as the Glass Child: Night
"The most egregious form of rejection that anyone can ever experience is parental rejection" -Is Rejection, Parental Abandonment or Neglect a Trigger for Higher Perceived Guilt in Adolescents
Oh man, the pain I felt for Night this whole episode was next level. The idea of a glass child is not one's delicateness but rather as a sibling of a individual with disabilities, the sibling becomes invisible to the parents, only seen when the parents need them. If it wasn't obvious before, it's clear that this was the role that their mother was forcing Night into.
There's nothing that hurts worse than the sharp words of a mother directed to her child. His mother explicitly blaming Night for Day's disability was a new low-blow. Night had already been beating himself up for the accident, his father (who doesn't even live with them) knew that, but seemingly their mother was oblivious. The only one that Night could rely on was an outsider, a father that they hadn't been in contact with for years. Their mother created that environment by not paying attention to her other son, who was also in that accident.
Nothing fuels sibling rivalry like preferential treatment from parents. Even worse when one has to be the caretaker of the other when they already have a fractured relationship. Instead of easing the tension between the two brothers, their mother is too busy worrying solely for Day without accounting for Night. Caretaker burnout is already incredibly exhausting when you're caring for a loved one, but Night has personal guilt and Day's resentment to deal with as well. Not once does their mother ask him how he's doing, if Night is alright.
Night is the forgotten child, the child that's expected to take care of his brother no matter what, no matter how independent Day has become. She has parentified Night without any consideration of how he was doing or what was going on in his life. This was probably already a running theme as they grew up, assuming from their positioning in the family portrait. In doing so, she unknowingly worsens the strife with the brothers, making Day believe that Night had only been "behaving well" in order to win some preferential treatment from her.
Even on Christmas, their mother only cares for Day, feeding him first and putting food on his spoon, body fully turned against Night. In that scene, visually Night seems like he's intruding and he feels it as well! It's why he excuses himself, saying that he's going to meet up with some friends. Even after being forgiven by Day, his mother doesn't make any effort to include Night other than just having him at the table. It's as if he wasn't part of their nuclear family, just a convenient body that is there to help out as Day adjusts to his new life. If it hadn't been for Day, Night would have left that table that night and would have believed that nobody cared for him. I'm hoping this makes her confront and reassess how she's treated Night, now and in the past.
It's ironic, even though Day is blind and held a lot of contempt for his brother, he was still saw Night and all his struggles. Meanwhile, their mother was seeing right through him, blaming him for what happened to Day. Driving a dagger, that Night had already stabbed himself with, even deeper.
Final Thoughts
I'm not quite ready to jump on the 'Mother Gothel' train for Day and Night's mom. I think she is juggling being a career woman and being a mother at the same time, while failing to adjust to Day's blindness and making mistakes in her parenting as a result.
I also don't think it's out of maliciousness or self-importance, either. When I see their mother, it's as if she's trying to save a sinking boat that is already pierced by numerous holes. There's no going back to their lives before Day's blindness. She needs to adjust her priorities, because disregarding Night and locking up Day is not the answer.
This episode was frustrating, not because I found her to be outright abusive, but because of her worries she ends up hurting her sons even more. No parent is perfect, and they can hurt you while thinking they're acting in your best interest, but they have to be willing to love and let their kids learn on their own.

The brothers, Day's anger, and Night & Mork
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: not a native Thai speaker, still learning 🙏
This is in part inspired (brainrot-induced? brainrot-fuelled?) by @chalkrevelations's post about the brothers and Day's behavior (go read it first if you're reading this!!) and in part just my usual language rambles observations.
Let's establish a few facts first (all pronouns presented as A/B are to be understood as I/you)
Night is older than Day - by enough that he's older even than Mork! (Mork and Porjai both call Night พี่ /phi/ while referring to Day as น้อง /nong/)
The brothers use กู/มึง /guu, mueng/ with each other, despite their age gap. These are informal pronouns that are actually pretty rude outside of using them with people you're close to because they're overly familiar -> for reference, Day, Gee and August all use these with each other, and Mork and Porjai use them with each other
Between ep. 1 and 2, Night and Mork go from the polite formal ผม/คุณ /pom, khun/ in both directions to Night using กู/มึง /guu, mueng/ and Mork using ผม/พี่ /pom, phi/ - they're friendly with each other! -> for reference, that's the exact same as you hear P'Aof and JimmySea using in the bts- P'Aof uses กู/มึง /guu, mueng/ while Jimmy and Sea use ผม/พี่ /pom, phi/ with him
Same as I've said that Mork and Day's way of speaking is getting sweeter, Day and Night are. uh. kind of the opposite. But also, they barely talk directly to each other anyway.
So let's look at that fight in the car in ep. 8
Night tries to engage Day and an awkwardly-caught-in-the-middle Mork takes up the speaking instead. When Day opts to use Mork as a middleman (just one of many instances of both brothers not speaking directly with each other), Night keeps on trying to engage him to no success. And then he just kinda- 🥴
Tumblr media
ส่วนห้องน้ำคนพิการอยู่ทางขวา /suan haawng naam khohn phi gaan yuu thaang khwaa/ -> คนพิการ /khohn phi gaan/ = disabled/handicapped person (don't let the /phi/ in the romanization fool you, it has nothing to do with the pronoun พี่ /phi/)
I wonder since when they've been this distant because Night here isn't looking at Day like he's a person, he's almost looking at Day only through the lens of 'person I need to take care of' - because of the responsibility their mom has put upon him and because he's the older brother - anyone who's the eldest child among siblings and feels seen please raise your hand 🙋‍♀️
Night means well, he cares about his brother - but he's also ignorant and a bit of a klutz with his words. It's being singled out as disabled and the implication of needing special treatment in everything that tick Day off enough to speak directly to Night and start getting rude:
Tumblr media
The word here is เหี้ย /hiia/ and it won't be the last time or the only curse word he uses.
Night is saying all the wrong things of course, while Mork is sitting in the back having to witness it all (and maybe being reminded of fights he's had with his own sister).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
มึงรู้ปะ ตอนนี้กูเห็นเหี้ยไร /mueng ruu bpa, dtaawn nee guu hen hiia rai/ = You know what the fuck I see right now? กูไม่เห็นเหี้ยไรสักอย่างไง /guu mai hen hiia rai sak yaang ngai/ = I don't see a fucking thing! แล้วทุกอย่างแม่งก็หนักขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ /laaeo tuk yaang maaeng gaaw nak khuen reuuay reuuay/ = And it's all damn getting worse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
แล้วเพราะกูรู้ว่าแม่งแค่ฝันเนี่ยะ /laaeo phraw guu ruu waa maaeng khaae fan nia/ = And because I know it's just a damn dream, แม่งยิ่งเหี้ย /maaeng ying hiia/ = that's even more fucking shit.
Tumblr media
Oof. Calm down, kiddo, this is your brother ;;
Day speaks with bitterness and resentment and viciousness. I don't think this started when Day started losing his sight but long before that, the way Day talks to and about his brother:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only one who's looking out for Night is Mork
We actually get a lot of reaction shots of Mork silently watching and trying to parse the family dynamics, reaction shots of Night looking melancholic because of or happy for his brother, and sometimes it even looks like Night and Mork make sympathetic eye contact via reaction shots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Night defends Mork several times in front of their mother and later tells Mork that they're grateful to him for making Day happier! And Mork does the same, he mentions Night to Day positively. Day doesn't realize it, for some reason, but Mork and Night talk to each other. And they see how Day interacts with the other one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it didn't surprise me at all to find out that Mork had gone behind Day's back yet again, after the brothers had that huge fight in the car. Of course Night knows where they are and that Day is safe. Of course Night knows. Night is constantly making sure that Day is okay without actually showing his involvement - he is just as invisible as Day and Mork were in parts of the story.

Not to be that guy, but Night wasn’t actually to blame for the car crash that caused Day’s TBI that lead to him losing his eyesight. Night got fall down drunk yes, Day was his designated driver but he didn’t have to go, he could’ve sent a cab/uber/car to get him. But they clearly were close enough that he wanted to get his older brother home without getting him in trouble with their mother, so they were brotherly once. Night was near passed out in the back of the car, Day was chastising him for being a brat and getting drunk and having Day chauffeur him around again. A little argument that sounded like they had many times before, so this was nothing new. Whilst no doubt annoying to Day, not really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
But when Night started to dry heave in the backseat, Day was far more concerned about the possibility of a mess in his car instead of actually worrying about his brother being sick. He was so worried about his car’s interior that he ducked his head below the console to look for a plastic bag for Night to vomit in, instead of maybe just pulling over onto the shoulder of road or finding an exit to locate a gas station. No, he took his eyes completely off the road and leaned over the centre console to dig around the passenger side area looking for a bag. Which led to him either swerving into oncoming traffic or not seeing another car swerving into his lane, but Night saw it and screamed in terror, which alerted Day to his massive fuck up.
The car crash was completely Day’s doing, Night wasn’t even in the front seat. Day could have very well killed himself, his brother and whoever he hit in the other car. Like I was saying to @negrowhat, Day should be happy all that happened was that he ended up going blind from his injury, instead of ending up in prison for vehicular manslaughter.
Trust me, I understand survivors guilt, too damn well. But the fact that Day is torturing Night to the point that even Night blames himself for what happened, it’s just unfair. Yes, Day is in pain, he’s angry, he’s lost everything and he feels like Night is taking over as the golden child, which Day used to be. But it’s not like Night asked for this, he was proud of his baby brother, he didn’t need to be the golden child, he was perfectly fine boasting about his talented nong to other people. But now Night has been painted the villain and by Day himself, Night’s self-loathing for getting drunk that evening and the ‘if only’ thoughts are driving him to the point of allowing Day to basically use him as an emotional punching bag.
Day has every right to feel as upset as he does, trust me, as someone who is slowly going blind themselves, and from a car crash too - although I was not the driver, I was in the backseat - I completely understand where he’s coming from. His whole life has changed, people are treating him differently, his entire future has shifted, people talk to him like he’s a small dumb child that needs a pat on the head and to be pitied. But none of that is Night’s fault, Day’s anger is so damn misplaced. Day doesn’t just need Mhok in his life, he also needs a damn good therapist!

Night you are ripping my fucking heart out, WHAT HAPPENED!?!?
No one who talks about themselves with such self-deprecation, who sounds so resigned to their families disdain while looking on the verge of tears, who calls themselves the villain, could ever truly be one.

Last Twilight Episode 10 Reaction
I wasn't even going to write my own posts of LT but this episode just delivered punch after punch! I couldn't help but comment, so–
Tumblr media
I love to see Jimmy and Mark using their dramatic acting microexpressions attacks on my heart, i'm bleeding but I'm fascinated. Sea has grown a lot and acts so believable, I want to praise him. But damn, maybe it's because I actually remember Jimmy and Mark since Bad Buddy, the contrast is huge here. Jimmy also does that thing with the jaw that makes him look more manly and mature, none of the young and mischeivous Wai, in Vice Versa he also didn't reach this level of complexity, I think we all should bow to P'Aof & team for leading him.
Tumblr media
I know I should be talking about Day who isn't crying while his family is devastated (he knew and was prepared and felt comfortable as long as he had Mork, they were not prepared) but I am biased... The way Night didn't even dare to touch Day when he wanted to comfort him at doctor office Т_Т And how later, at the dinner table he looked with such disbelief, and hesitantly started teasing Day as sibling again when Day reached out Т_т And how for months he felt he deserved to be silent, torn apart and uncomfortable, yelled at and judged for not taking care of his brother properly.
Noo, my heart!
Tumblr media
But also Day and Mork, of course, the way Day bravely said "The last thing I saw in my life was his face", and Mork said "I'm sorry" and I can understand the mom going "you crossed over all lines with ny son, get out of my house", and it's probably huge red HR violation but Jimmy's big teary eyes aaaaah how could she not fold? I saw some comments on tumblr about the show not calling out her being abusive and everything, but I strongly disagree and I think it all makes sense. The strong single mom, the asian family, the unwanted oppression and self-misery that finally cracked during Christmas dinner – I could probably write my view on this in another post but who cares.
Tumblr media
Dhskajvs I love how Porjai and Night are "patpraning" Mork and Day, like they are setting up plans to look like accidents just for two undestined lovebirds to be able to sneak out on a date from the parent who shouldn't know about it, very PatPran behavior xD Only friends are the one making it work xD
Tumblr media
That's the face of a man giggling because he just declared himself a father and a future husband on his own (oh their mom is going to have a heart attack but who cares). "That's my child" - look at the sky, this night is so freaking green~ I'd say the real winner of that marathon was Night, Day maybe got a medal and a boyfriend but Night got a girl and a kid! xD His confidence is hot, but also I wouldn't hesitate a second as well if I saw Porjai available to be loved, I mean look at her! What a treasure.
I can't believe I was so on board and rooting for a hetero couple in a BL since the very first second but they are still going too damn strong. I love them. I shall draw a fanart.
Tumblr media
Omg, pop-up books shout-out in a BL! First time seeing this. Okay, Day and Mork are freaking cute, I usually lose interest when characters start dating but they are so damn adorable and in their happy bubble here! Smiling and goofy Jimmy is all I need in this economy.
Master Aon is slaying on a dance floor, this actor is honestly stealing the show and I love it for him... I like how he shows being advanced and comfortable as visually impaired person in relationship with a girl that can see, the calling out and gestures and the comfort.
P'Aof and his damn heartwarming community scenes, first with MLC and now here, I knew what I walked in and still wasn't prepared for all the EmOtiOns<3
Tumblr media
Promoting Oishii as one of the color paints is very creative but all it makes me think of is a VERY relatable situation with actual artists who put tea cup and water for paint on the same table... Yeah xD
Also, sniff kisses are so cute, fight me, westerns.
Tumblr media
Lmao, Day even drew Jimmy's poor 5 o'clock shade above the lips fvsjakjahk I wonder which one of the staffs drew it, or was it actually Sea? No matter what, I bet this person had a lot of fun anyway :D
Tumblr media
Okay, THERE ARE MORE SCENES THAT MAKE ME ALMOST CRY Poor Night, he was so unloved and judged in this family for a year, I will actually fight everyone to give him his own special beef stew.
He was going to distance himself out of guilt as a self punishment and feelings of 'the hero is here, the villain should vanish' supported by both people closest to him, but Day insisted he's a family and he should stay, reminding their mother of it… Oh no. So many feelings.
Again, it deserves another post. Where I talk about how Night feels like such a man, a protective adult who changed and is able and actively wants to take care of dear people, but who looks and feels like a small punished kid in his own family house. Day too, btw, but he hasn't found as much confidence as he struggles with blindness as well.
Tumblr media
But I loved that family having fun scene. I loved it so much. That family trying out cake eating blindly was so nice, oozing of happiness. The curse of misery deserves to be broken, and the kids are the one breaking it, as usual. Mother should remember what's really important - her and her kids happiness, not control that's led by fear. But it's not easy. This is why this scene is so important, and filled with happy and relieved tears. Tbh I didn't feel like P'Aof glossed over the mother-son conflict, it's just that the narration feels... I don't wanna say more asian, it might be different from the sort of justice/revenge what some of the people wanted to see. I understand it and it hits home.
Tumblr media
Oh I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, P'AOF!
Something tells me in a very loud way that this operation won't go well, look at Sea's face! The scene just screams "I still can't see anything". It would be such a P'Aof type of teaser as well, give hope and then trick into the opposite. I can't imagine him actually getting his vision cured. I'll fight myself if that's what actually happens in the next episode. It's a great way to show that you should just keep enooying life instead of regretting the cure.

Last Twilight Ep 2 initial reaction
Gonna go in random order as thoughts come in so be warned
Tumblr media
First Mhok is best boy. He’s going to have to do something really awful for me to stop loving him. The way he burst in to check on Day after the encounter with Night’s friends was so raw and emotional. Then he went to go experience what Day goes through to really apologize. He didn’t know if he’d ever see day again but he wanted to learn because Mhok cares and has learned from Day so much 😩😩 god I love them
Tumblr media
Side note on that scene so Night has lots of friends but hasn’t told them about Day? His accident isn’t recent. I think it just shows how broken disconnect the family was pre Day’s accident. They don’t know how to be in eachothers lives. Night seems like typically he doesn’t spend time at home. Which I don’t blame him since everything is about Day all the time. Might still be too leinent on him because I love Mark so grain of salt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second every wide screen shot is so rare in this show I take screen shots every time idk something about how it’s shot feels like we are in Mhok and Day’s bubble. Getting to see the two of them in the wide almost feels wrong. But each one is so pretty and freeing. Like both of their worlds open up each time idk I think it’s neat.
Tumblr media
Day and his mentor/friend are very sweet together I’m glad there is another blind person being shown making his way about. Living his life. I know it’s not the same but I’ve helped other people before with similar issues to me and it really helps with your own struggles. Seeing how someone else lives their life and offering them advice to have a better experience makes you feel less alone. He seemed to like Mhok so big plus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day regretting Mhok being gone hurts me so badly. Every time I listen or hear the little Prince I’m going to think about Day. And how much he grew to love Mhok’s presence because Mhok tries. Yes he goes over board but he keeps inching closer and closer. He doesn’t give up which is what Day needs. Look how precious he is
Tumblr media
I know this isn’t a kiss but Day and Mhok at the fish tank talking about little Day and big Mhok felt like kissing. It was so intimate I was blushing. Maybe it’s just me but they are just so in love 💕💕
Final silly thing:
This hallway just makes everyone look hot as hell. Or is it just I’m a simp for these two. Idk draw your own conclusions but look at them.

Bisexual longing

Thank you for being one of the only people not to immediately jump Day and Night’s mom. It’s kinda frustrating for me because I can see that she clearly cares about them and she’s just going about this the wrong way. One thing about parents that don’t spend a lot of time with their kids (in her case because of her career), it’s hard to recognize that they aren’t children anymore but are fully grown people who can make decisions. I just think the outright demonization of her from some people is a bit too far imo. She really does care but that doesn’t mean what she’s doing is right. Like you said, it’s from that place of caring that she’s unintentionally doing MORE damage
Hey Anon! Thank you so much for sending this is in, I love the conversation that my post has created and I’m glad that you were able to connect with it. You make such good points that I’m going to expand a bit on my thoughts that I don’t think I explained fully well.
I agree! The vitriolic reaction Day and Night’s mother has received has been disproportionate to the intent behind her actions. I get the disgruntled reaction about how she goes about taking care of Day (and Night by extension), but people forget that intentions do matter! An actual narcissistic mother uses manipulation tactics and maneuvers their children to meet their own needs, prioritizing her desires and using her children to enhance herself. That’s just not the case here. In my opinion a lot of people wish parents were infallible, so the moment a parent makes a choices that results in hurting the child, they want to believe that it was a conscious, planned choice to cause the harm rather than accepting that just maybe the parent fucked up.
She’s scared about Day’s vision loss, what it means now that he has to be dependent on people. On one hand, I understand her fears about Mhok. Day needs someone dependable and stable, and while Mhok may be dependable, he’s is on her payroll, so how can he truly be stable? He’s not and that scares Day’s mom. But she fails to understand the actual value of Mhok in Day’s life. In her love for her children, she’s letting fear control her reasoning. She’s misguided. She’s a businesswoman, she places value/analyzes risk in her field and she’s doing the same for Mhok, but fails to consider that the scale of value should not be based on her opinions but rather on that of Day’s.
I think you make a good point that as a single mom, and a career woman, she probably didn’t see her kids grow up. I mostly overlooked that and didn’t even consider that angle since I just took it for granted that she was infantilizing solely because Day’s her youngest and plainly because his newfound disability. But you’re absolutely right, the fact she was not around leads likely adds to why she finds it hard to accept Day’s independence.
Like many of the tags on the post said, I don’t think she irredeemable as a character and as a mother, but I do hope that the story acknowledges her mistakes and the pain it inflicted on his children rather than having Day and Night just brush it under the rug.

Onto the promised second half of my accumulated language notes on Last Twilight ep. 9-11, this time a short one!
Tumblr media
จ้า /jaa/
Perfect subs, no notes. จ้า or จ๋า is an ending particle or interjection that gives vibes of intimacy and being sweet - I kinda melted when he said it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that Day calls out to his brother in this moment of distress by calling him พี่ไนท์ /phi Night/, whereas they usually use familiar impolite กู/มึง /guu, meung/ with each other, and we see them be physically affectionate now 🥺
Tumblr media
หวัดดี อาหมอก อาเดย์ ลุงไนท์ สิลูก /wat dee aa Mork aa Day loong Night si luuk/
-> อา /aa/ = a young uncle or aunt; ลุง /loong/ = an old uncle; ลูก /luuk/ = child, son/daughter
Tumblr media
Porjai พอใจ /phaaw jai/ = satisfied, content; satisfactory
Poomjai ภูมิใจ /phuum jai/ = proud
This notion of You're more than 'enough', you're amazing! -
Tumblr media
ผมอยากให้คุณภูมิใจในตัวเองนะ ที่แบกท้องคนเดียวมาได้ขนาดนี้อะ /pom yaak hai khun phuum jai nai dtuua ehng na thee baaek thaawng khohn diao maa dai kha naat nee a/
= I want you to be proud of yourself for carrying this pregnancy alone for so long.
Night used to call himself พี่ /phi/ and Porjai เรา /rao/ or น้อง /nong/ up until last episode. That he now uses the more formal ผม /pom/ and คุณ /khun/ is giving such married couple vibes 🥹
-> More on all these pronouns here, where I explained how MorkDay went through the exact opposite pronoun journey

Thoughts About Last Twilight Finale as I watched it
One part of me is happy to seeing them flirting and getting along, but the other rage-filled part of me that has not healed from episode 11 is honestly kind of upset about them being able to do that again like the breakup wasn't as painful as it was. Like obviously its been several years and i'm glad they aren't holding onto any of the pain from it because that wouldn't be healthy but just.....it hurts a little seeing the characters be okay when i'm still not. (And like it was a painful breakup and we're seeing no trace of that with their interactions).
I appreciate Night and Porjai little attempts to get them to talk and Mhok being a bridesmaid makes me happy.
Ok so they've talked about the breakup and Mhok's thanking Day for it? And saying he was right? So we just aren't going to discuss that fact that Mhok's actions were a combo of things besides pity? Like his trauma with his sister? I want it to be addressed gosh darn it, they haven't talked about it enough in this show. They spent this whole show talking about how Mhok didn't pity him and now you're saying that in an instance where Mhok's actions could be explained by a couple different reasons, you went with "actually he does pity him" as the reason? I just feel like there were better ways this could have been addressed but they had limited time.
"I can't believe its been three years"
*me, upset, staring at my screen* "Me too"
(You went three years without talking?!?! After breaking up over one argument!?!?)
"Whatever problems you have, talk to each other" where was this advice during episode 11, it could have saved a lot of time and heartbreak
You know what, I'm tired of being upset, bring out Poomjai, i want to see her and have Mhok see her
ok she's out of focus but she looks very sweet
the problem here is that I can't tell if Day is just hesitant to try again with Mhok or actually doesn't want to, so every time Mhok references it I feel awkward. I know its supposed to be a romance show so they'll probably end up together but.....
ok Day made a joke about it so I guess he's not too uncomfortable but still...
Poor mhok.....I honestly hope that if they do decide to get back together, its because Day went after him and told him that he really did want to get back with him because I feel like too much of the show has been Mhok taking the steps forward with their relationship
looks like i get my wish....ah the classic airport scene
I highly doubt he actually left on the plane but you know what, maybe its good to let them sit with this emotion for a little while (I'm sorry, I'm still so mad)
So it was a setup...but how????? like???? what???? If you knew Mhok would be in there, when did he let you know, because there was no point in running around the airport if you knew he would stay....
Honestly I feel like the breakup was pointless now... like yeah they had the conversation about growth and whatever but it feels like Mhok acts the exact same so I don't feel necessarily if he can differentiate between he role as a caretaker and as a boyfriend, which was a legitimate problem. And I also kind of hate that he is apologizing. It just feels like Mhok is once again focusing on others feelings and not his own, and so they will run into the same issue as they did before.
As you can probably tell from all this, I now feel very protective of Mhok and it makes me upset that he hasn't gotten the chance to work through some of his issues. I know he is more the type to pretend everything is okay, but there has to be a limit. Like at the least acknowledgement of his pain
They're having a baby!?!?
We get a happy ending
Final thoughts:
It was a good show and I enjoyed it for most of it. I understand why they did the breakup (though I don't think it was entirely necessary), and yes it may have been good for them as a couple, however I wish it had either happened earlier or they made the show longer because it felt very quick leading up to it, and I felt like the last episode just didn't have time for them to discuss it in a more meaningful way and actually show why it was beneficial for both of them. I also think it would have given more time for the audience to process everything (it resulted in me thinking too much about the breakup to be able to be happy at some of the good things about episode 12). We got one conversation about why breaking up allowed them to grow, and I just wish we had a bit more than that. I also would have liked it if it had discussed Mhok's troubles and emotions a bit more. It led to the relationship feeling a little bit unbalanced some of the time. Overall (!) I enjoyed it (with the exception of certain storylines that I have already discussed). I don't think I can ever classify as a comfort show again (as I did before episode 11). It was definitely not perfect, but it wasn't an awful show, and so I am going to try and remember the good parts of it.
