"Did it work?" Seungmin pouts staring at the potion in front of him.
The mixture's liquid looks decent, the forms of the steam above it looks like the kind of description their teacher made during class earlier, but something is off. He looks back to the recipe, knowing very well he has not missed a step because he is always very diligent with his work and also because Hyunjin was checking after him, but still. He checks.
"I think it did," Hyunjin answers after getting close to the potion. His cheeks coloured in pink. Seungmin does not notice.
"You think or you're sure? Those are two different things."
Seungmin smells the potion. This is what is wrong with it. It smells nothing. And the smell is surely the most important thing about this potion. It has to smell like things the person smelling loves. Seungmin expected to smell old books, something homey, maybe that pie Hogwarts serves during Halloween. But all he can smell is Hyunjin's perfume because the latter is so close to him right now, hovering over his shoulder. And to be honest they've spent so much time together lately, Seungmin feels like the perfume has penetrated his own skin.
One thing to know about Seungmin is that he hates not understanding. He will ask questions, make the researches, works the extra time if he has to. But he will get it. Whatever it might be. Usually it is school works, because ever since he has entered Hogwarts it had been his priority (obsession some might said). In exchange he keeps on being the best student, one of them at least, except in potions. Which makes no sense because potions surely is one of the most rational subject they have. Follow the instructions. Choose the right ingredients. Dont miss a step. And follow again the instructions.
The things Seungmin should be the best at! Not that he does not succeed. He just does not succeed enough. And Seungmin really wants to be a healer at St Mungo, he does not need to be good at potions. He needs to be excellent.
Except he is not and apparently books could only tell as much as they can - the disappointment he had felt upon noticing that is still indescribable - so he had gone to the only option left. Ask for help. Slytherin this year were no exception to the unspoken rule of them being the best in potions, in the person of Hwang Hyunjin who was mostly knows for his quidditch skills (Seungmin had had many opportunities to admire... notice those skills through the years).
Another thing about Seungmin is that he definitely lacks people skills, and because Ravenclaw do not share their potion class with Slytherin, he had no reason to ask Hyunjin for help. He knew from other shared times that Hyunjin is a very nice and approachable person, only has the looks of the mean cliché Slytherin but he's heard one day one of his friends telling him he could have been sorted at Hufflepuff and he agrees. Because when Seungmin suddenly showed up and ask for help to that boy he has barely talked to all their years, the boy smiled and said of course.
All that happened last year. When they were studying for their O.W.L.S and Seungmin wanted to make sure he got a O. And he got it because Hyunjin was a very good teacher, very patient, nice and funny. Even if he would often stumble on his words, somehow always made his point very clear. Plus he knew Hyunjin made space for him in his schedule which was already busy with quidditch practices, so for that Seungmin was grateful.
By the end of the year Seungmin knew he had made a friend. Which had not been the case since his first year. This plus the O.W.L.s results, his fifth year was a success. He really thought it would be the end of their lessons but it was Hyunjin who came back to him and asked him if he wanted to continue. He said yes because he genuinely enjoyed it and, if he was being honest with himself, he was scared he would have no reason to hang out with Hyunjin if not. And he really liked hanging out with Hyunjin.
This is how they ended up making amortentia from scratch on a Tuesday evening, because Seugmin completely failed making the mixture during his class in the morning.
"I'm sure it worked," Hyunjin insists, "everything seems fine."
"I cant smell anything," Seungmin tells him.
Hyunjin frowns, "get closer."
Seungmin does so, even if it is useless. He takes a deep breath it but once again all he can smell is Hyunjin's perfume. Floral, probably with lavender undertones, and a bit overwhelming at first but comforting. He shakes his head.
"Do you smell anything?" He asks his surrogate teacher.
This time he does notice the blush on Hyunjin's face.
"I do," he mutters.
Seungmin's never been a really into gossiping, he hates personal question about himself so he does not pry.
"Well, that does not make any sense," he mumbles almost to himself, "go away for a bit, please."
"What?" Hyunjin chokes up.
"I didnt mean it like that... just can you go to the other side of the room so I can focus."
If the request is odd to Hyunjin he does not protest it and do as told. Seungmin stares at the pretty forms the steam makes above the pearly mixture for a moment, deep into focusing on his senses. He closes his eyes to make sure of it. Hyunjin is not in his personal space anymore so there is no reason for his perfume to linger that much, at least he hopes so. He gets closer and closer to the potion but his nose only picks up the same scent over and over. When he opens his eyes back he is frustrated and it probably shows.
"What's going on?" Hyunjin asks him, worry in his voice tone.
"Its just all I can smell is your perfume and I dont get..."
He stops his sentence when he sees the look on Hyunjin's face, the way his blush expanded and his eyes were round. There is a moment of silence during which Seungmin is not really sure what switches in the air what kind of tension gets itself comfortable between them, nor why does it mean. Things in their relationship have always been very easy, even with Seungmin struggling in social interactions, even during the very first lesson Hyunjin had easily broken the glass between them and made Seungmin very comfortable. There is no overthinking when he is with him. It is so relaxing, so freeing.
"Seungmin," Hyunjin eventually says and it is obvious he is trying to suppress a smile on his lips, "you're the smartest person I know... but..."
Seungmin opens his mouth to protest whatever is coming after the "but".
Hyunjin shakes his head and comes back to his previous place, close, very close to Seungmin. It shuts him up because suddenly everything is different.
He sees the look in Hyunjin's eyes, the way their hands could brush against each other if they decided to, and Seungmin is paralyzed.
"I think the potion works very well because I can smell the scent of old books in the library and sugar quills."
This time Seungmin feels himself blushing. Hyunjin always buys for him sugar quills if he goes to honeydukes without him, because Seungmin likes them so much. They are basically just sugar but the way they taste and feel are very calming somehow. He has never really thought a lot about Hyunjin's actions, just categorized him as the nice kind of persons who care a lot about everything and remember little stuff. He never thought it was something special. Just something endearing about Hyunjin like so many things.
"Uh.." he clears his throat. He never is at loss of words, he knows so many words!
Hyunjin smirks and Seungmin tries to look away but Hyunjin is too close and he is everywhere in his personal space and field of vision. It is overwhelming but he does not not like it. He just does not know how to respond to it. And he is still not sure he understands it. While Hyunjin seems to understand everything. That is embarrassing.
"I really thought I was obvious and that you were acting like it was nothing because you were being polite and you didnt want to embarrass me..."
Hyunjin is slightly taller than him, he has noticed, just a few centimeters really nothing in their day to day life but right now as Hyunjin very carefully moves his head closer to Seungmin's, he feels so tiny.
"But you were just very oblivious !" Hyunjin concludes with a smile, "because you are so smart, I never thought it could be that."
"Book smart and emotions smart are different things," he breathes out.
Hyunjin laughs and it makes Seungmin's heart race. He always seems to manage to make Hyunjin laughs so brightly like that, when he has never been known to be a particularly funny person.
"That's right," Hyunjin tells him, "so I'm going to ask you then. Seungmin, do you, perhaps, like me more than just a friend?"
Seungmin knows very well that his entire face is red by now, "I never.. thought about it," he confesses.
Hyunjin smiles very gently, "I did. I actually thought about it so much I lost sleep over it because all I could think about was you and how much I like you."
Seungmin's ears are ringing and he can only hear the loud beating of his own heart, "you did..."
Hyunjin once again looks at him with those doe beautiful gentle eyes and smiles softly and Seungmin feels like he is both melting and burning.
"This might be a bit overwhelming, so..." Hyunjin says and his voice is a little less confident than before, "maybe you can think about it and I can take you out on a date this Saturday at hogsmeade... and if you dont like me then I'll never bother you again with my feelings."
"That's.... thats a very good idea."
The face Hyunjin makes is better than any academic success, Seungmin thinks.

Seungjin drabble (slowtober challenge)
hii im doing a thing called slowtober (made by @/oeildesaturne on instagram, french speaking folks check it out!! although be aware of tw mental health and eds talks) and i'm posting on twitter a seungjin au per word
I'm late in the updating on tumblr but for the sixth days (october 16th - 18th) the word was "phobia"
I thought for sooo long and then decided to go for something light hearted and fun
So here is my vampire Kim Seungmin and his blood phobia meeting broke med student Hwang Hyunjin
For the tags well blood vampires and past 2min mentioned
Still no betaing to this and oh yeah this was my first time ever writing about vampires I usually hatee vampires story but maybe i'm growing up
AND if you enjoyed this challenge who is now over you can vote on this form for your favorite that I'll be writing into a full fic on ao3! ("soumettre" is "submit" btw)

Kim Seungmin is in front of a very annoying and ridiculous dilemma. And all of that is linked to the pathetic fact that he is starving.
Everything is Lee Minho’s fault, to be honest. For decades actually, everything has been his fault, because Seungmin would have never been starving, pacing in front of the back entrance of a hospital if it had not been for Minho’s fault. He is starving because he has been pushing that moment for days now. Maybe at some point hunger will take over his phobia of blood and he will just jump on the first person that goes by. Or he will die of starvation. Like he could die. Fuck Minho.
Usually Minho would concede his part of responsibility in all this situation, and he would be the one to deal with the whole starving part but right now Minho has a new boy toy and has disappeared. Seungmin knows very well how all this will end up because he has been Minho’s boy toy at some point, a very long time ago, a century ago and sometimes he feels like throwing up when he thinks about it. Sure it was great at the beginning, but then it was not and Seungmin was stuck.
Stuck in the body of a twenty five year old, stuck between the eternal dilemma of drinking people’s blood or fading away in slumber in a dark place, preferably a coffin. And both sucks because Seungmin has always had a very deep phobia of blood and now he is eternally being confronted by him. Why was his twenty five years old self so damn stupid?
He feels sick, as much as he can in his vampire form at least. His body weakens and even in the night time he feels like the public lightning is hurting him, he has trouble focusing on his vision and his head hurts so much it gives him dizziness. Fuck.
It could be very easy actually, he could find one random person and suck their blood out, and all the symptoms will be gone and he will be fine to go for a few weeks again, but his phobia is just plain stupid. The idea of drinking blood out of someone makes him feel even sicker, it paralyzes him. It is probably due to the fact that he can feel the person alive, the pulsing of their blood in their artery, and the warmness of it and the body, yeah, he can not do that. He can drink out of blood pocket, the one thing Minho promised he would always make up for. Seungmin will make sure Minho will never see the end of this.
Minho did leave some indications on how he gets the blood pockets usually, the hospital he goes to and how he gets in it but contrary to Minho, Seungmin has a conscience and maybe a faint reminder of a soul. Or maybe Seungmin has not been a vampire for long enough (just a few decades, not even a century). Anyway, he is not strong enough to do all this and now he is thinking about all the humans that could die because of him stealing some blood.
Seungmin takes a moment to realize that his canines are puncturing his lower lips, blood drips out of it. His senses are all over the place now. He does not hear the door opening, but he hears the pulse of blood running in a human body and the sound of his heart beating, it makes him crave with thirst and hunger and disgusts him at the same time, chills going down his spine. He does not control it when he jumps on the poor person that has just gotten out of the hospital.
The person screams when they both fall down the floor and he only hears them like their voices are an echo because all he hears is the blood. There is no control left in his own body, just hearing himself at the very back of his mind crying because he hates it so much, hates losing any kind of control, hates hearing blood like that, but there is nothing he can do about that.
As he can see himself getting closer and closer to that poor person throat, himself is experimenting an outer body experience, he hears the person scream and he feels them fight back the weight over them, helplessly because even running out on his last forces he is still stronger and faster than this human person could ever be.
"Please don't do that," the person implores under him, "Lee Minho sent me here!"
The name acts like an electro shock for Seungmin although he does not let go of his grip, because damn this human smells so delicious and he is so hungry he cant think, and his fangs are out. However his vision refocuses a little and he sees behind him a young boy, probably around his age (when he got turned.. at least), with black hair tied on a bun on his head, a medical white coat and a terrorising expression on his face. Seungmin feels so bad and so hungry, it feels like he is going insane.
"What?" He stutters.
It is ridiculous how hard it is to speak like that.
"Lee Minho?" The person says again, "if you let go of me I promise I got the... thing you're looking for."
It takes everything, absolutely everything in Seungmin to be able to do as said, but he still manages to get off them. Very quickly they crawl away from him, it still feels very bitter to be the reason of someone's else fear, Seungmin thinks. The person searches in their lab coat pocket and then takes something out of it. Seungmin recognises the blood pockets that Minho usually stock in their fridge.
"Please dont bite me," the person whispers, handing out the blood pockets.
Seungmin considers them still on the ground in front of him, curled up over themselves only their arm extending. They are looking at him with pleading eyes. He takes a step forward and they curl up even more, he sighs and very quickly takes the blood pockets. He does not even bother and bites into the plastic immediately.
He lets out a content sigh when he feels finally the energy coming back in his body and the fog in his brain finally lifting up. Once he is done with the first pocket he gets back to his senses and suddenly realises that the person he had just attacked is still staring at him in the exact same position as before.
"I'm sorry," he mutters.
He feels ashamed of himself now. He does not know this person at all and he probably just gave them the worst fear of their life.
"Its okay," they answer although nothing in voice sounds like they are okay, "Minho warned me it could happen."
Seungmin rolls his eyes.
"You do that often?" He wonders.
"Only for Minho."
Seungmin swallows down the amount of inappropriate questions he has in his mind, although he is almost sure Minho's current boy toy's name is Jisung.
"He gives me money," he adds quickly.
"That's... okay?"
"I just didnt want you to assume stuff. He flirts a lot but it's not like that."
Seungmin stares. He can hear their heart beating faster.
"Okay," he says again.
He also notes that the stranger is very cute. Scrap that brain, he pesters at himself. The person stands up suddenly.
"I gotta go back to work."
Seungmin stops sipping on his blood pocket, "you work here?"
"Yeah, how do you think I get these?"
"But..."
They shrug, "I need the money. And you need food or else you'll do exactly what you just did to me. And its fucking scary."
"Right. Thanks."
"I'm Hyunjin by the way."
"Seungmin," he stutters.
"Well.. so, maybe I'll see you around?"
Seungmin is not sure exactly what this question involves exactly but it makes him smile slightly, "yeah. Sure."
Hyunjin smiles and waves him goodbye and goes back inside the hospital.
Maybe, just maybe, Seungmin does not hate Minho as much as usual today.

Seungjin drabble (slowtober challenge)
hii im doing a thing called slowtober (made by @/oeildesaturne on instagram, french speaking folks check it out!! although be aware of tw mental health and eds talks) and i’m posting on twitter a seungjin au per word
I’m late in the updating on tumblr but for the seventh days (october 19th - 21st) the word was “ghost”
i was extremely tempted to write angst i'm not gonna lie, but i decided not to (because it is seungjin and they deserve all the sweetest thing in the world and no angst unless there is comfort) so i went on the other side of it - no pun intended there - and go for something very fun!
if you know new girl you'll recognize my inspiration btw
this is just a silly love confession gone wrong, haunted house funfair are involved and accidental hitting too!
oh btw when i'm done with this challenge i'll hold a little poll on twitter to see which drabble should be written as a whole fic!! so if you like it, you might want to follow this:) (or not) (like it's up to you)
and i keep forgetting to thanks everyone for their time hehe<3 i appreciate every likes!
AND if you enjoyed this challenge who is now over you can vote on this form for your favorite that I’ll be writing into a full fic on ao3! (“soumettre” is “submit” btw)

In Hyunjin’s opinion the funfair is more lame than fun, but he is here for Seungmin and it goes way above and beyond any lame thing he can attend. Even if it means ruining his Halloween night, and bringing all his friends into his doom, because Seungmin got this stupid job in a haunted house. The overwhelming romantic feelings, and painfully one sided, he has for his best friend of several years has obviously nothing to do with these kind of decision. Never. No matter what Minho would say about it. Or Felix, or Jisung.
Anyway, he twitches in his halloween costume. Way before this whole situation happened, Hyunjin had decided to make his costume a bit funnier than usual, when they were supposed to celebrate it in the warmth of a house, and had picked a slutty nurse costume. Except now the skirt is definitely way too short for his liking, showing too much of his legs and the autumn night has no mercy on his skin. He could have changed when he had known the plan would, but Hyunjin is terribly stubborn.
Parents of young children are looking at him with horrified eyes, he stands a bit taller in his costume. Although he is not sure if it is the slutty or the skirt part that horrifies them, he can bet that they would have been less upset about it if he had been dressed as a man. Fuck them.
“You look very sexy,” he hears Seungmin’s voice say to him.
“I’m also very cold,” he answers.
Seungmin sits down in front of him. Hyunjin is holding on to a cup of hot beverage like his life depends on it, maybe it does though. Seungmin is dressed as a ghost, well not like the easy kind, with just a white sheet or anything. For such a little funfair and a haunted house that is so tacky Minho has already told them he had went two times and had not been scared once, the make up artists and costumers are very good.
Hyunjin is a scaredy cat, he would rather die than enter the haunted house, it can be as predictable as possible he knows he will end up on the floor crying, so he would rather wait outside for Seungmin to be done.
“I have a coat that I don’t use,” Seungmin tells him, “does not suit the vibe very much, plus it’s hot in the house.”
Hyunjin shakes his head.
“Then die in the cold,” his best friend flatly says.
“Hey! Being sexy comes with a price.”
“You’d be sexy fully covered or dressed as a pumpkin, what you wear does not matter.”
Hyunjin raises an eyebrow, “sexy pumpkin? Is that your thing?”
Seungmin blushes. Hyunjin can not see it under his make up but he knows him well enough to guess it. He feels proud of himself for that, if he can not do anything about his one-sided attraction at least he knows him better than anyone else, and knows exactly what to say at what time. So there is that.
“That’s not” Seungmin stutters, “don’t be stupid! I’m just complimenting you.”
Hyunjin blinks several time, registering exactly what all of this meant. It is not unusual for Seungmin and him to compliment each other, even on their apparences. Well Hyunjin could never spend a day without telling Seungmin how handsome he looks (he makes sure not to make him uncomfortable of course), but there is something different in the tone of his voice. An embarrassment, or maybe it is the term that he has used. Hyunjin’s not sure.
“You think I’m sexy,” he says, “all the time.”
“Yeah, of course. You are so attractive it’s stupid, not that it’s the only thing that I like about you.”
Maybe the cold has frozen all his braincells, maybe but he does not react at all and Seungmin looks away.
“Sorry, forget about it,” he mutters, “I gotta go back to work, break is over.”
Hyunjin opens his mouth but nothing comes out and before he can do anything else Seungmin is gone. He stays still for a moment, trying to process what he has just heard.
“Hey,” Felix says.
His costume is way too complicated for the place they are, a cosplay from some video game he enjoys so much, and he struggles to sit down on the spot Seungmin has just left. He moves his hand in front of Hyunjin’s eyes when he has no answer, “Earth to Hyunjin?” he adds.
“Felix,” Hyunjin says in a very low voice that startles the latter, “is it possible that… maybe, Seungmin likes me?”
Felix’s hat almost drops off his head as he lets out the longest and deepest sigh he has ever had, “woh, the question is more is it possible that Seungmin does not like you? And the answer is no, by the way.”
“What do you mean?” Hyunjin asks, confused, “what do you mean?”
“Well I’m sorry to break it to you but you know every time you came to me crying because of your one sided feelings for Seungmin? They never were one sided.”
“Why didn’t you tell me??”
Hyunjin stands up, suddenly getting the control of his body back. The beverage falls down on the table spilling hot chocolate everywhere but he does not care.
“Hey! I tried! Don’t blame the messenger, you both are so oblivious it’s stupid and also kind of entertaining.”
“Fuck,” Hyunjin mutters already not listening to whatever Felix is saying, “I’ll be back.”
Without thinking he starts running toward the hunting house. There’s no need for a ticket since they paid to enter the place in the first place. He probably scares a bunch of kids and outraged some more parents but if he starts to think he will back down and he can not because Seungmin now is probably thinking that Hyunjin rejected him or something.
He regrets it immediately when he enters the house and the lights are shut down and the floor is cracking under his feet and he hears laughter in the echo, and screaming. His blood turns cold in his veins, he makes one step forward but something sticky touches him on the shoulder and he screams, painfully aware at how much skin is out to be touched. He wants to cry.
He is a man on a mission, so he does not and goes on, yelling for Seungmin’s name a bit louder every time something scares him (every two seconds).
Weird things are touching him, the floor is either too viscous or too thin, moving or painfully still, he tries not to lose his balance as fear entirely flood his brain. The noises are too loud between the children screaming in fear and the scary music and sounds everywhere. In theory he knows every trap he encounters are made up but it still works every time.
He enters a new room and feel a hand catching his shoulder and he does not think as he screams and pushes back. He hears a loud noise that has nothing to do with the haunted house, and a bunch of curses, and suddenly two people catch him and hold him on the ground. He tries to fight back but their hold is too strong. The lights are blueish in the room and his eyes have finally being used to the obscurity.
“Seungmin, are you okay?” someone says panic in their voice.
Hyunjin’s brain focuses back. In the side of the room he sees a silhouette getting up from the floor, helped by another one.
“Yeah, I’m fine I just hit my head on the side.”
“Oh my god,” he stutters, “I’m so sorry.”
The two people over him hold even tighter, he let out a scream of pain.
“Seungmin, it’s me,” he mutters, “fuck, I’m so sorry I just got scared!”
“Hyunjin?!”
He sighs as he recognize Seungmin’s voice.
“It’s me, are you hurt? Did I hurt you?”
“You can let him go,” Seungmin tells the two persons.
They seem unwilling to agree to that.
“Please,”  Hyunjin whimpers, overwhelmed by the entire situation and the fact that he still is terrified by the whole haunted house. “I’m really sorry.”
Eventually they do and Seugmin goes to his side, “why are you here? Hyunjin this is so…”
“I like you! Like more than a friend.”
He hates himself this is the worst way to confess to his long time crush. After hurting him and in the middle of a haunted house, in front of obviously very judgmental people right now. He can not blame them for that. Seungmin stares in disbelief.
“Is this why you pushed me?”
“No! This is because I was scared, I’m still very scared.”
Seungmin shakes his head but he faintly hears him laugh.
“Okay, I’m going to take a break and get checked by a doctor, okay?”
Everyone agrees to that. He then stares once again at Hyunjin who is still lying down on the floor.
“I’m wondering if you deserve to finish the haunted tour by yourself or…”
“I’m really sorry,” he repeats.
Seungmin extends a hand that he grabs and gets up.
“Fine,” he tells him, “but that’s because I like you like more than a friend too.”
The sparkles that Hyunjin feels in his heart manage to make the scary atmosphere fade away. Seungmin still holds his hand and he feels warm. He gets closer to him. Maybe the funfair is not that lame.

Seungjin drabble (slowtober challenge)
hii im doing a thing called slowtober (made by @/oeildesaturne on instagram, french speaking folks check it out!! although be aware of tw mental health and eds talks) and i’m posting on twitter a seungjin au per word
for the ninth days (october 23nd - 27th) the word is "nostalgia" and it's the end of this challenge for me!!
It's the last day to post, it was hard to get inspired I thought of the usual exes to lovers trope but there really was something missing, so I went with a reincarnation/cursed trope
Tw: implied angst and death (thus the reincarnation) in a full fic the ending would be happy
AND if you enjoyed this challenge who is now over you can vote on this form for your favorite that I’ll be writing into a full fic on ao3! (“soumettre” is “submit” btw)
if you want to check all the drabbles you can go here
thank you for your interest for the whole challenge or just this drabble it was fun to do:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Seungmin falls asleep he sees it all.
The first life he has been with Hyunjin, the one life he had thought love was easy, love was given, like he earned it simply because he was alive and so was Hyunjin. They got a bit cocky. Defied the gods because they thought love, their love, was stronger than anything they could throw at them.
They took Hyunjin away from him. Cursed him to remember it in all his next lives and in spite he swore to never stop looking for Hyunjin in those other lives.
When he closes his eyes he sees it all. Diseases, hate, wars, everything the gods threw at them to make sure they could not see happiness through their love. Seungmin remembers them all, feels it over and over as they replay in his mind, all to taste Hyunjin's love for the little time the god would allow him in each life. It is all worth it.
After all this time Seungmin has learned that it was no use to search the world for Hyunjin - the life he had spent working as a sailor months on the sea, was carved in his mind like a tattoo - he knew the gods' sadistic little games would make them cave and eventually put Hyunjin in front of him, when he does not expect it most of the time. He is just a pun in all of it, all he can be grateful for is that Hyunjin does not know anything about it.
All he can be grateful for is that in every life he loved Hyunjin and Hyunjin loved him back over and over, again and again. While Seungmin knows all about him, and wholeheartedly loves everything about the man, no matter which name, no matter which story he carries, Hyunjin always had to learn to love Seungmin and he never failed. It makes Seungmin open his eyes, every time.
In comparison to some of his other lives, this one has been calmer, but awfully lonely. He has never spent so many years without meeting Hyunjin, at least once. He tries to keep it together, and follow his hope and guts that he will eventually end up on him, as he replays in his mind every time he has met Hyunjin.
In a church. In a pianist concerto. In a painter workshop. In the street. On a bus.
Hyunjin would smile at him, their eyes would met, a strand of hair would fall on his forehead, Seungmin would have to stop himself from touching him, his heart would beat the same way it always does, like it has been broken all the years he’s spent without him and gets suddenly fixed, back to life when their paths cross once again. Seungmin vowed his eternity to Hyunjin and gladly carried it more like a blessing than a burden. No matter what the gods try to punish him from, he would endure the pain, he would remember the pain, he would be swallowed by the nostalgia when he is by himself and he waits for Hyunjin to bring him back to life.
Seungmin waits.

On a spring day the city he lives in is always lively. He goes to work and sees a bunch of children going to school hand in hand with their parents, and Seungmun finds himself recalling the very few lives in which he had been able to experience this joy with Hyunjin.
The days are always similar, the nightmares almost keep him up all night long, and he mindlessly falls into his routine. Today something feels different. Maybe it is because he can not hear any birds chirping when he goes outside, or because the sun shines a bit too brightly and there is no spring breeze to cool it down, and time feels like it has been slowed down. Or maybe Seungmin has just been lonely for too long, missing Hyunjin like a part of him had been taken away from him, and his hope slightly breaks a bit more every day.
As he walks down the street, he tries to not dwell too much in the nostalgic feeling, the melancholy that is taking up all the space in his heart, almost taking over the love he feels, the love that makes him not fall completely into madness.
There is a slight ringing of an outside bell that makes him raise his head. There is no wind still the delicate chimes’ noise continues. He looks up to the sign over the top of the boutique and does not recognize the shop. It is an antique shop. He follows his instinct and pushes the front door.
Seungmin wonders if the shop is empty. He sees no one behind the counter and he hears no noise except from the front bell ringing when he pushes and closes the door. The shop is full of different objects, from furniture to decorations going through jewelry and other accessories. It does not seem like it is organized in any kind of logic, all the objects mixing up with each other no matter what use they are but maybe Seungmin does not know any better.
He finds himself recognizing some vintage items that he has used during his past lives and finds it amusing that in this time and life they might be considered as valuable or precious.
Seungmin loses track of time as he explores through the shelves, lost in his memories. He finds what seems to be a twentieth century little metal box that he carefully opens. In it there were a bunch of old letters. The papers seemed to have gone through a hard time, as they were stained, torn in some places, and he could barely read them. The letters feel familiar but he is not sure why. Until he finds under all of them a photograph.
He almost drops it when he sees it.
In all the lives he has lived and been reborn into, none of them had ever crossed. Yet he sees his own face in the photograph and next to him, Hyunjin's. It is an old police school's picture from the middle of the twentieth century that he remembers very well. He had met Hyunjin there and they had become best friends for a while.
There were only a few lives in which he had not had the pleasure and the chance to kiss Hyunjin. This life had been one. With the state of the world, the constant supervision of their officers, two boys being in love was ridiculous. Hyunjin was supposed to marry a girl, the daughter of a family close to him that he had known since childhood.
Seungmin takes on a deep breath. He tries to not grip the photograph too tightly so as to not damage it.
Hyunjin never got the opportunity to love either her or him. The attack that killed him happened a few weeks after this photograph was taken.
"I'm sorry," a voice says behind him, "I didn't realize someone was here."
He turns around and the surprise makes him drop the photograph. It slides down on the floor until it reaches the feet of the one, owner of the shop surely, who bends down to pick it. His black hair falls in front of his face in the motion. Seungmin feels his legs weak like each time it has happened.
Hyunjin looks up to him, photographs in hand and smiles at him. Words get choked up in Seungmin's throat. It has been so long and Hyunjin is so beautiful in this life too. Wearing a casual outfit, headphones around his neck and hair tied up in a ponytail. He looks healthy and happy, eyes sparkling and light makeup on, Seungmin notices.
"Oh," Hyunjin whispers as he looks at the photograph, "you found this? I've always found this photograph very intriguing."
It takes everything Seungmin has to not run to hug the man in front of him and to just move his head, "really?" He asks.
Hyunjin gets closer and Seungmin can smell his perfume all over him. He shows him the photograph and points to his own self, not that he could be aware of that.
"This man's features are so similar to mine," he explains. Seungmin nods slightly. "But I've looked up in my family and I seem to have no connection to him."
Seungmin’s not sure if he manages to utter anything as an answer. Hyunjin points at the box, “the letters are hard to read but some are signed by his name, I found who he was by looking at archives, I think they were never sent."
He seems thoughtful for a moment while Seungmin does not know what to say.
"Sorry, I must bore you with all this information," he suddenly apologizes.
"No, no," Seungmin answers, "it sure is a very weird coincidence."
Hyunjin looks at him with kind eyes and then back at the photograph.
"Well," he whispers, "it gets even weirder."
He points at the man in the picture that is Seungmin, the real one holds his breath.
"This man looks like you."
Seungmin blinks a few times. There is a voice in head that desperately screams for him to tell Hyunjin everything. But the few times he had tried to do so, Hyunjin never believed him, or their time together was cut even shorter. However, never had they been confronted with this kind of proof.
“You’re right,” he answers finally.
Hyunjin shrugs, “maybe it is just a coincidence, right? Some celebrities' faces sometimes look like old paintings or pictures, maybe we just have basic faces…”
He blushes, “not that I think you look basic.. not at all you’re not basic, your face is very pretty…”
He hides his own face in his hands, embarrassed. Seungmin laughs quietly.
“Yours is too,” he tells him.
Even behind the hands he sees the blush expand on Hyunjin’s face. Eventually he gains back his composure and looks back at Seungmin.
“I’m sorry, it’s my first time ever opening this shop and it’s been my dream but I’m not quite sure what I’m doing,” he tells him.
“It’s okay. I think it’s very nice that you seem to care about all of it a lot.”
Hyunjin nods, “I sure do. By the way, I’m Hwang Hyunjin.”
Seungmin freezes. This is also a very unusual thing. In all the other lives, Hyunjin, which was his name in their first life and the name Seungmin has carried with him, had multiple different names. It is the first time he got back to his original name. He looks at the photograph, the letters and then the man.
“I’m Seungmin,” he says carefully.
He is not sure what to expect, maybe deep down a sign that Hyunjin would suddenly remember everything. It does not happen. Hyunjin just smiles more.
“It’s very nice to meet you, Seungmin,” and Seungmin adores the way his name sounds in his voice.
It’s always nice to meet you again and again, he thinks.

Seungjin drabble (slowtober challenger)
hii im doing a thing called slowtober (made by @/oeildesaturne on instagram, french speaking folks check it out!! although be aware of tw mental health and eds talks) and i’m posting on twitter a seungjin au per word
I’m late in the updating on tumblr but for the eight days (october 22nd - 25th) The word is "ritual"!
I went with an inaccurately historical au, European (France) 17th century Seungmin is a "witch" like they used to call them and Hyunjin is an apothecary/pharmacist
As a personal tmi I really ADOOORE this period of time and if i get to write this au, it'll be inaccurate for several reasons but I did spend a lot of my free time when i was young reading about it and learning about it sooo! This was so fun
Tw: period related homophobia (implied)
AND if you enjoyed this challenge who is now over you can vote on this form for your favorite that I’ll be writing into a full fic on ao3! (“soumettre” is “submit” btw)

The clock on top of the front door ticks in a familiar motion. Hyunjin does not bother looking at it, silently counting the sounds in his head and when he finally reaches sixty, the door opens.
He has to stop himself from smiling too brightly. Seungmin is a very predictable person, Hyunjin means it in the most positive way, and with time he had learned with enthusiasm to understand all of Seungmin's rituals. He is not sure if the latter has noticed that.
"Good evening," Seungmin's voice whispers.
The shop is empty. It is a late Thursday night and no apothecary should be open at that time, except Hyunjin's definitely not a simple apothecary.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything."
Hyunjin swallows back the fact that he has been waiting for him all night long. He just shakes his head, "of course not."
The nobleman seems relieved. The lights in the shop are dim, it would be best for both of them if no policemen starts wondering about the shop activities on the side. He knows very well that Seungmin is also a very careful man and would have made sure to come here in a discreet manner, like most of Hyunjin's clients he has as much to lose as he does. Maybe worse. Seungmin puts his hat and coat on the coat hanger near the door. He watches the way he carefully folds the coat, in an inexplicable yet seemingly very important way, because he does it like that all the time. A man of ritual, Hyunjin thinks.
Hyunjin does not need to tell him anything because he knows his way around and they are both comfortable enough by now. After all they both know each other deepest and most dangerous secret. Sometimes Hyunjin can't help but wonder if Seungmin might keep another kind of secret. Sometimes with the way his eyes linger on Hyunjin when he believes he is not seeing him, or when their fingers brush and his cheeks are colored in a pink tint… sure sometimes Hyunjin lets himself think about it.
“Full moon’s ritual?” Hyunjin asks him, when Seungmin is ready to listen to him, even if once again, he knows that the answer is yes. Seungmin’s practice seems to be mostly oriented toward the moon and its phases so Hyunjin carefully checks it every night.
“Yes,” Seungmin answers, “and some other things I need. I got a bunch of my, uh, clients asking for my help.”
He slides a piece of paper on the counter. Hyunjin carefully looks at it. Seungmin’s handwriting is neat and precise. He describes exactly the quantity of each plant and other ingredients he needs. Seungmin was actually the only person Hyunjin has ever met who had more knowledge than himself on the subject. Maybe because Seungmin comes from a higher line, richer and more powerful, he has access to information way before Hyunjin could, receiving books and reports from overseas expeditions, places Hyunjin barely manages to imagine in his own mind. He is not sure why Seungmin still comes to him, in his little shop, in a part of the city which probably takes him a while to go to, and risks being caught. Or maybe he does not let his mind wander in the reasons.
Hyunjin has already prepared everything for Seungmin, he just needs to take a few other things in his cupboards. Seungmin waits for him patiently, looking around in the shelves to keep himself busy.
He still remembers the first night Seungmin came to the apothecary. Hyunjin's side practice is not known by many so Seungmin must have been close to one of his most important clients to be there, as there is no way to randomly find about it, Hyunjin always makes sure of it. Seungmin was very shy, and embarrassed, like he was not sure why he had come here at first, or maybe like he was not sure if it was safe enough. Their first talks were mostly in codes, making sure that both of them were on the same page. Hyunjin never ever judges his clients. He has seen it all, and he does not care what they will do with what he gives them. He is far from stupid, he knows the amount of poison murders that has been happening in the high classes and he probably knows he has played a part in those killings, some would say. He sleeps better at night, not asking any questions, only handing the ingredients. What they do with that is far from his worries, once they have closed the door of his practice and he is counting the money. People might die. He gotta live.
Seungmin seemed different. The shyness first of all had nothing to do with most women or men discretion. None of them were really shy. They were commanding, arrogant, haughty, but they knew what they were to lose if they got caught. Seungmin spoke softly, handed him a carefully folded piece of paper, a very beautiful paper Hyunjin had noticed, and the ingredients written on it had nothing to do with the usual... preparations he has been asked to make. Another thing Hyunjin had noticed immediately was how cute and pretty Seungmin was, he kept that to himself.
Slowly but surely Seungmin warmed up to him, because Hyunjin always made sure to make Seungmin comfortable and it was obvious that it made the latter happier a bit more every time. More and more Seungmin would smile genuinely at him, dare to look him in the eye, linger a bit longer in the shop when it was not necessary, brush their hands whenever he had to grab for what Hyunjin was giving, explain to him why he would buy this and that, or make a compliment. More and more Hyunjin would stay awake at night thinking about him, making sure to remember all the rituals he was following, in his own practice or in his life.
Hyunjin looked forward every time he knew Seungmin would cross the back door of the shop.
“Here,” Hyunjin tells him when he is done measuring everything Seungmin needs.
He makes sure to let his hand linger near the package and Seungmin does exactly what he expected and his fingers brush the back of his hand. He is happy with the small touch.
“I have something for you too,” Seungmin says.
“You do?”
Seungmin takes something out of his pocket, “one of my own clients offered me this, you might have heard about it… chocolate powder.”
This time Hyunjin can not hide his surprise, “I’ve heard but…”
Seungmin has a shy smile, “it’s good, and you can make it sweeter.”
“I thought only the people of court had access to it,” Hyunjin comments, staring at the powder like it would have been a magic one, “I did not realize those were your clients.”
Seungmin puts a finger over his lips, “I have a few secrets I might tell you one day.”
Hyunjin stays quiet, when Seungmin winks at him, he giggles. Seungmin puts his own package in his pocket before going back to his coat and hat.
“Good night, Hyunjin,” he whispers softly.
Before Hyunjin can answer anything, the man is gone. Hyunjin gasps for air, his heart beating faster in his chest, and his cheeks burning red.

AAAND it's not betaed.. plus it's just a little brainrot but i liked it so i'm sharing it here!! not to be too excited but it'd be great to write it entirely (one day)

"Hyunjin!"
Hyunjin opens one eye. His ears moving at the sound of his name being called but not wanting to move any other body parts. He has spent the morning sleeping peacefully in a very sunny spot in their garden and with fall beginning he knows he will not be able to do so for a few months.
"There you are," Felix says as he stands tall, in a respectable distance from Hyunjin.
Felix never really liked cats. Due to his special nature, he never gets close Hyunjin when he is turn into a cat.
"What?" He asks barely moving.
"Did you forget? Our new roommate is coming at any second and you're cat sunbathing."
There is no real bite in his words, he is barely really mad. But they did promise to Minho, who is giving his room to this new person, to make sure nothing weird happens. Which is funny and ironic because Minho has always been the one to play with the weird limit. But the latter would deny it if they were to tell him.
"Right, I totally did not forget, " he finally decides to lie while standing up and stretching his cat body making sure to wake up each and every muscle.
"Good, because I already had to convince Jeongin to make sure he stays hidden but he said he was curious about the new guy but..."
"There you are, Felix!" A voice says at the door of the garden.
Both of them freeze. When Hyunjin looks up he sees the young man Minho had introduced to them a few weeks ago. What is different from that day is that now he is wearing some sweatpants and casual hoodie, his hair is slightly dishevelled and he looks terrible cute. Hyunjin knows his cat ears perks up in joy. How could he have forgotten today was the day he was joining their household ? He is so stupid. And Seungmin is so stupidly cute.
"Oh! I didn't know we had a cat," Seungmin says cutely.
Hyunjin has always been a very tactile person, and the same as a cat, but when Seungmin squats down next to him and gently extends a hand to pet him, he dodges it. The surprise look on Seungmin's eyes makes him swoon.
"He does not like being touch?" Seungmin asks Felix.
Hyunjin almost answers for Felix but thankfully he remembers cat don't speak before he does something that definitely falls into the weird part.
"No he really is affectionate, he must be nervous," Felix smirks and Hyunjin sends him a glare.
The reality is that none of his roommate ever pet him considering, Felix is a werewolf and would rather die than touch a cat, Minho is too jealous of Hyunjin shapeshifting ability, and Jeongin.. well Jeongin could hardly touch anything. Plus maybe it was a bit weird. Well he had never overthink it. But now Seungmin, the very cute new roommate, the very new human cute roommate, wants to scratch his head without knowing it was actually a human being.
"So what's his name?"
Felix seems to think very hardly on it and Hyunjin knows he will come up with something. He meows adamantly. He barely meows because he is used to his roommates knowing he is a human first and always talks normally even as a cat. It sounds weird.
"Its not our cat," Felix ends up saying instead and Hyunjin ears move pleasantly, "he just comes here sometimes..."
"Oh okay."
Seungmin tries again to reach for Hyunjin's head and this time he can not do anything else but let him pet him. It does feel good. He ends up purring a bit and keeps his eyes half closed to not look at Felix's mocking face. It is enjoyable. He could definitely go for that again.
"Hyunjin's not home?" Seungmin asks.
Is Hyunjin insane to hear a bit of disappointment in his voice?
"I dont know where he went, he should come back any time soon."
Yeah! He would come back quicker if Felix could bring Seungmin inside and let him carefully go back to his room to turn into a human again. Instead of letting him pur happily while Seungmin scratches behind his neck. Fucking cat instinct. He sure will remember that whenever Felix needs help.
"Okay well I put most of my stuff in the kitchen, is it okay if you help me get them upstairs?"
"Sure, I just know Hyunjin will magically appear when he hears you need help."
Seungmin stops the petting and Hyunjin opens his eyes quickly enough to see a blush on his face. He wants to bites Felix leg.
"Really.." Seungmin laughs awkwardly, "then maybe you should go..."
He gets up and starts walking back to the inside.
"I hate you," Hyunjin whispers very quietly to Felix.
Like the traitor he is, Felix just winks and runs to follow Seungmin. Hyunjin wants to disappear.
