Nålbinding Bottle Cozy
I finished a thing!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yarn: Lettlopi, colourways 1705 (lambagras) and 0005 (hærusvartur) and Catania leftovers (probably 105, 208, 398) and Catania Color (233).
The body is nålbinding, no pattern.
The flowers are crochet, following patterns from RaffaMusaDesigns (they're super easy, just 2 rounds basically!).
The drawstrings I made with a lucet.
So like, a cross crafts project! ^_^
I love it and most importantly, kid 1 for whom this was made, loves it too ^_^

There's been some new folks following my little blog here, so I wanted to say:
Hiiiii!!!!!
I'm Mappsie ^_^
You'll find mostly reblogs here, about ... *gestures vaguely* all kinds of stuff. There's no one theme. Only fluctuations of interests xD Recurring, though, are video games (e.g. Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age), my game screenshots, fandom stuff, craftsy stuff, parenting stuff, artsy stuff, long posts, shit posts, puns... whatever tickles my fancy.
I have 2 sideblogs: @mappsiemakesthings as archive to my craftsy endeavours, which atm entail crochet, spinning and needlebinding - i do want to get more into knitting, so we'll see about that.
@mappsiedoodles is an archvie of my doodles.
I also have an AO3 account under the same username, if you're interested in Paz Viszla x Reader fluff.
I love getting tagged in stuff, so feel free to do so ^_^
And, uh, yeah, that's it!
Hi! Glad you're here <3

Hey Ash! Congratulations again! 925+ is huuuge!!!
Hi, Mappsie!Thank you so much! For all of your support and kindness❤️Okay, here we go…
 Assassin’s Creed:I ship you with… Edward Kenway!
Okay so, it mayseem like a crazy pairing, but I truly believe that your kind and calm naturewould be a good thing in this pirate’s life. He would need someone like you tokeep his feet on the ground while at the same time he could bring out yourextroverted nature and give you a sense of adventure. Edward would love yourquiet temperament, simply glad to be around you to enjoy your comfortingpresence; a reprieve from his chaotic life at seas. Your personalities, while different, would bring out the best aspects of each other. And I don’t doubt that he wouldenjoy your saucy outbursts. 😉
Dragon Age:Origins- I ship you with… Alistair Theirin!
While Alistaircan come off as a little awkward and shy at times he is kind-hearted and loves makinggenuine connections which is something the two of you have in common. Your sweetnature is something he would cherish especially considering all of the changesthat he has gone through and will continue to battle through. Alistair would becontent to chatter away or simply enjoy a quiet moment with you through sharedinterests. Your wit and charm would be a big plus and combined with his ownsomewhat awkwardly endearing nature an easygoing chemistry would quickly develop.
Mass Effect: Iship you with… Liara T’soni!
Theintelligent archeologist would be a great match for you and your own brilliantmind. You’re both sweet and sometimes shy but you both strive to make lastingand committed friendships and relationships. Liara would undoubtedly enjoy thequiet relief that you bring in such a hectic time and you would both be greatcounterparts keeping the other grounded. Considering you both have many commoninterests and similar natures an easy-going chemistry and relationship wouldsurely follow.

On Sunday, traveling on the train from south Germany back to the north, I won a game of yarn chicken with the "Study Dragon Tail's Shawl" which I had started in January 2023:
Tumblr media
Today, while waiting at the rheumatologist's, I wove in the ends:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now it just needs a little soak and blocking and it's completely finished! ^_^
I lost the yarn banderole, but it's some merino lace yarn. The hook was a 4 mm hook. It's all just blo hdc and I'm super happy with the resulting squishy texture 💕💕💕

The book cozy for my lotr book is growing ^_^
The base is crocheted cotton yarn from my stash, the rest is gonna be nålbinding in Finnish 2+2 F2 with Lettlopi which i bought second hand.
Tumblr media
Going from round-based crochet into spiralbased nålbinding was not easy, and i'm not sure i found the best possible solution for it. I might go back later and do a few more securing stitches with a sewing needle..
Not sure how long my ambition holds, but i might end up embroidering something on it later? Maybe I'll dust off old my sindarin knowledge... or.. huh... dwarfen runes would be easier to embroider than tengwar actually... we'll see, we'll see.
First i gotta do enough rounds to hold the 1.3 kg tomb xD
And the flap. There's gonna be a flap for sure. Triangle, is what i'm thinking atm.
I'm excited! ^_^

Long time no post, but i did make some things.
E.g. this little Frøgge Pilløw which has now a new home with @lunetta-suzie-jewel ^_^
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yarn: I don't know where the banderole went 🙈
Tools: 3.5 mm knitting needles for main body, 3 mm hook for legs and arms
Pattern: 100% winged. Knitted the body, crocheted legs and arms. It was a great game of yarn chicken and I WON xD
Finished some time in December 2023, but my brain noped out of sending it out in time for Christmas. Sooooo, it was a Late New Year's gift, instead of Christmas gift BUT it got finished and it did arrive, so that's all what counts ^_^

I made myself a beret! From selfspun yarn!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yarn: Selfspun from what I named the Hildra Fluff (which had been dyed by Elfenwolle)
Hook: 3.75 mm
Pattern: "Stellar (Beret)" by Linda Perman (available on ravelry)
Modifications: The Hildra Yarn is thicker than what the pattern instructions suggest, so I did one less increase round (2 less would have worked fine, too, I reckon).
I also didn't do the puff stitches, but alternating FPDC and BPDC for a more ribbed brim.
I'm very happy and proud with it and I (not pictured) look supercute with it xD
I also have yarn left, so I might make wrist warmers? maybe even *knit* them?
Some process pics under the cut:

I made a Pudgy Unicorn ^_^ 🦄
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pattern: Pudgy Unicorn Amigurumi by Nina Shimizu (free pattern download on ravelry)
Yarn: Schachenmayr Catania scraps, not sure of the colourways
Hooks: 3 mm hook for the main part of the body 2 mm hook for the decreasing part of the body and everything else
Modifications: Curlycues for mane (with 3sc per chain). I then lost steam, hence the tail being just... like, yarn. with knots at the end.
I read the instructions for the ears wrong, so these are different than the instructions.
Also, I kinda winged the placement of things.
Oh, and the horn is one row more than indicated. idk why i did that... it looked so small, but now it looks so big xD
Anyway, the creechure has been finished successfully ^_^

Shawl "Harlekin" (by eliZZZa Wetsch) is growing, slowly but slowly:
Tumblr media
Yarn is Nordlys (935) by Viking of Norway, which is an unplied, single sock yarn with wool and nylon that does not take kindly to frogging, but i've internalised the pattern now so that's seldom an issue anymore xD

Dice Bag/Tray
I finished a thing! And! It's a birthday thing AND it's finished on time. (Well sorta... it was planned to be finished last year.. but for this year it's on time xD)
It may look quite like a normal dicebag when it's closed:
Tumblr media
But unfolded, it's a dice tray that keeps your dice from rolling off of the table:
Tumblr media
Neato, right? ^_^
Pattern: DC Dice Bag and Tray by Lisa M. Fox (available on Ravelry), but very heavily modified
Yarn: Schachenmayr Catania (my beloved), colourways 189 (orange) and 430 (smaragd) --> held doubled
Hook: 4 mm
Started: March 19, 2022 Finished: February 14, 2023
I made the strings with my lucet and they're really nice and sturdy.
I also accidentally made one increase round too much, so it's... preeeetty big, whoops. But it can hold more dice and love like that xD
A fourth one of these will probably come up at some point, and I want to try and do hdc's for the base, just to add a bit more sturdiness.

I have finished the Coron Shawl!
The little ball is what's left of the yarn cake ^_^
It's still a WIP because ends need to be woven in and some blocking is due, but yeah, main work is done.
And Kid 1 has already laid claim to it xD

Snuggle Set for Lilly the Doll
My niece wished for a doll pillow for her birthday, so I made one. And then I had yarn left, so I made a blanket. And then I thought 'What's a blanket without a border?', so I made scallops. And what's a scalloped blanket without a scalloped pillow, so here we go:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yarn:
Scheepjes StoneWashed XL and... I'm not sure, an unmarked thing from my stash that could be some MyBoshi yarn..
Hook: 5.5 mm
Pattern: winged it xD

Halloween Beanies
Hey, look at that! I finished something in time! Namely, Pumpkin Face Halloween Beanies for my kids ^_^
Tumblr media
Started: September 17, 2022 Finished: October 28, 2022
Yarn:
Gedifra Cuor di Merino 120, colourways 111 and 127
Gedifra Cuor di Merino 210, colourway 35
Hook: 5 mm
Pattern: Winged it. Started at the bottom and worked my way up.
Read more below cut for some construction notes and hints:
For the "ear cuff": 1.) ch 21 2.) blo sc across and repeat until head circumference is reached
Then crochet together the first and last row. Fold in half, sc across to seam the two sides. Change colour.
The "beanie main body" is all hdc but with sticking the hook through the "third loop" (there's tutorials on youtube!). Gives a nice spongy texture imho ^_^
I did not take notes on decreases so I can't tell you what's going on there because I forgot
The "pumpkin face" is made of black felt and handsewed on with backstitch.
That's it ^_^

I finished something!
Tumblr media
[ID: A crochet cowl in blue and green]
The main part is made with the "Nalbinding single crochet" stitch, as invented by Kris Stone of Light And Joy Designs. It's not nalbinding per se, more of a mix of techniques, and done with a normal crochet hook.
For more infos, refer to her video explaining it all:
youtube
After finishing that part, wanted to add an increasing edge so the cowl would cover a bit more neck and shoulder area.
That turned into
sc around
blo: (hdc, hdc, hdc inc) around
blo: (hdc, hdc, hdc, hdc inc) around
blo: (hdc, hdc, hdc, hdc, hdc inc) around. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Hook: 7 mm
Yarn: Viking of Norway "Nordlys", colourway 930
The yarn is actually fingering weight, so I actually used my Spinning Skillz and chainplied a skein and got a nice bulky yarn xD
And the result is a nice, bulky, soft and squishy and warm cowl and I love it 💚💙💚💙💚
