Discussion

This is an alternate (read: not canon) version of how Lia and Peter share their first kiss. Their real first kiss is in Michelle’s Master Plan a oneshot located in my oneshot book on Wattpad, Sunlight, which you can read here.

Pairing: Peter Parker x OC (Liana Rose)

Warnings: None. Fluff.

“Hey, Peter?” Lia asked.

Peter looked up from his desk, where he was tinkering with some sort of technology he’d found in a dumpster on the way home from school. “Yeah?”

“Have you ever been kissed?”

Peter turned beet red. Luckily, Lia hadn’t noticed. She was still too busy fiddling with something on his top bunk, her favorite place to sit.

“Y-yeah,” he stuttered, forcing himself to look back at his project.

“By who?”

“A girl named Mary Jane. She kissed me under the monkey bars in third grade.” He put down his screwdriver, a contemplative look making its way onto his face. “She told me that she wanted to be my girlfriend when we got older. She moved the year after that to… Omaha, I think? I don’t really remember. It was a long time ago.”

“That doesn’t count,” Lia objected, sliding down the ladder to his bunk to sit on the lower one so she could see him better.

Peter raised an eyebrow at her. “Why do you ask?”

She shrugged. “I’ve never been kissed. I was just wondering what it feels like. Is it like in the movies when fireworks go off and romantic music comes on or is not like that at all?”

Peter shrugged back. “If the third grade kiss doesn’t count, then I’m as clueless as you are.”

“Huh.”

Peter’s heart was pounding so hard he swore Lia would be able to hear it. He didn’t know what it felt like to kiss someone, but he had definitely dreamt of kissing someone, specifically her. Ever since she’d come home from being kidnapped by HYDRA he’d fallen for her, hard. It was sometimes hard to hide the way he felt from her, but he didn’t want to jeopardize their friendship. The last thing he wanted was to lose her. If that meant staying friends for the rest of their lives, then so be it. But the way she was talking right now was making him want to do something drastic…

Peter took a deep breath. Was he really going to do this? Why did he think this would be a good idea? Abort mission, abort mission-

“Do you want to find out?” he blurted out.

She looked at him, her face unreadable. “Find out what?”

Make up an excuse! Don’t go through with this! This is the worst idea you’ve ever ha-

“What it feels like to be kissed.”

Great job, stupid. You’ve really done it now.

Lia’s eyes were sparkling, but not with happiness. There was something else there…

“Peter… what are you saying?” she asked softly.

There’s still time to back out! Don’t do it! Don’t-

Peter took a deep breath, pushing the nagging little voice in his head to the very back where he wouldn’t have to listen to his negative thoughts anymore.

“I…” he started, swallowing hard. “I really like you, Lia. Like, really like you. I have for a while but I didn’t want to tell you cause I didn’t want to ruin our friendship-” Peter stopped short when he saw her face.

She was beaming. “I really like you too,” she replied softly.

Peter couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Wait, really?”

“Really really.”

“Only you would quote Shrek at a time like this.”

She just smiled. Peter pushed his swivel chair away from the desk and closer to the bed, taking her hands in his.

“So… do you want to find out?” he asked again.

She nodded, leaning in closer.

Peter hesitated for only a moment before softly pressing his lips to hers.

It was… not what he had expected. There weren’t any fireworks like the movies said there would be. That said, the butterflies that had taken up residence in his stomach seemed to be running laps. He had never felt quite like this before; sort of floaty, like if he let go of Lia’s hands he would float to the ceiling. He felt warm, happy…

It was over in a few seconds. Peter opened his eyes to see Lia looking back at him, that unfamiliar sparkle still in her eye. Peter was able to put a name to it now. Love.

She laughed softly, leaning her forehead on his. “So that’s what it feels like…”
