I can't stop listening to this song after noticed Charlie Watts passed away because my fav Jazz player Sonny Rollins collaborated on this song for Charlie's requests. And I really love these two episodes:

Charlie was too nervous to say to Rollins, "Can I play the drums next to you?..", then he couldn't says that.., and in no time at all, the recording was finished, then Rollins left the studio immediately.. In the end, his dream of performing with his favorite jazz player did not come true..

Excerpt from an interview with Sonny Rollins: “Some years ago after that record came out, I was shopping in the supermarket and they play this music, you know, pop songs. So one day, I heard this song and thought, “Hey! This saxophone one player on this record, he really sounds like something.” Then I realized, it was me....”

RIP Charlie Watts.. and happy 91st birthday Sonny Rollins. 

チャーリー・ワッツの希望でソニー・ロリンズがソロを吹いたこの曲を、チャーリーの訃報のあとずっと聴いてる。「緊張で”隣で一緒に叩きたい”と言えず、30分も経たないでスタジオを去ってしまったロリンズとは結局共演できなかった」という話がもうね。。笑えて、そして泣けてくる。

「ロックわからんから隣で踊ってみせてくれ、それに併せて吹くから」と言われたミックが、ここぞとばかりガンガン腰振る中（たぶん両手に拳銃ポーズでゲッツゲッツと。。）、その隣でいつもの通りカリプソをやるロリンズ。このソロパートが流れるとニヤニヤが止まらなくなっちゃう。チャーリーとロリンズのセッション、聴きたかったなぁ。

ロリンズの思い出：「このレコードが出てから数年後、スーパーで買い物をしてたら"ポップス"が流れてきたんだ。”ここに入ってるサックス、なんか聴き覚えあるだよなぁ、なんか似てるんだよなぁ”としばらく考えてたら、う〜ん。ん？？ あ、これ俺か。。って気づいたんだ。」

うちの親父と尊敬するブラウニーと同い年の1930年生まれソニー・ロリンズ91歳の誕生日を祝ってジャズとロックを鎮座レコードに。
