Barbara Cartland wrote 723 novels – an average of more than 9 a year over her career. In 1976 she wrote 23 – still a world record. Many of her novels were made into films for television, including A Hazard of Hearts starring Helena Bonham Carter, with Christopher Plummer and Diana Rigg. Her 723 novels were translated into 38 languages, and she continues to be referenced in the Guinness World Records for the most novels published in a single year in 1977.
