Sannin headcanons and thoughts
The last thing I would like to post for the sannin week. It is still 24.04 here! :D @sannin-central
This is long. Spoiler alert. Mostly Orochimaru, some Tsunade, a little of Jiraiya (because his story is pretty clear and spoken and idk what I can add). Also I recommend to read this meta about Orochimaru, it has influenced me a lot and has some good points. Sorry for any posible grammar mistakes. Also I really should put here a lot of references to the manga or anime but it was something that was piling up for a year and I'm soooooooo lazy. After all, those are just headcanons. Also: Im not excusing Oro's bad stuff here, Im trying to understand the reasons.
Ive already posted some hcs, here, here and here.
Tumblr media
1. First if all, the chronology pic of sannin lifetime based on the info i found on naruto wiki and also some statements about wars from this post. It was tough considering what a mess naruto’s chronology is.
2. Sannin story shows what it cost to be a legend. They're like Team 7 but more realistic. Tsunade literally carried the war but left with nothing and developed a ptsd and have problems to just live on. Also anger control issues. I think she can be pretty bossy and stubborn which is not always nice. Jiraiya is the hero of the day but also very idealistic and can ignore some important details in the real word whether its the fight (he always injured during flashbacks maybe because each time he took too much to handle and on the one hand it's heroistic but on the other is a mistake that can lead your team to situations like in that Iwa cave) or your friends issues (I bet he saw what's going on but thought it's fine until Oro actually got red handed and left). He lives in his world and may have problems to get out to see it through someone else's shoes. As for Orochimaru, it seems like he was a normal guy for 20+ years (I mean, he didn't do crazy criminal shit and had something good in him and it was stated somewhere that it was his teammates influence. It is obvious they considered him as a friend, I don't thinks it was for nothing) but we mostly know his darkest side. Despite being a moster he is a human that have empathy and some ordinary human traits (man just decorates every bit of an environment he is in lol).
3. Tsunade was the leader of team Hiruzen.
4. Tsunade sometimes hit Jiraiya for some stupid things he did or said but never touches Orochimaru even if he did something same. Jiraiya complained about it once and almost got another hit.
5. Jiraiya had problematic parents that didn't care about him much and a lot of time he was wandering in the streets.
6. Judging by the look of Oro bangs and hair, he sometimes cut it off. A stress relief huh? And the fact that he doesn't do it now in Boruto..
7. It was shown that Tsunade and Orochimaru was acknowledged before they become a team. Maybe they did just before, or maybe some longer time before. I prefer the second option and hc that they met because both had no real friends - Orochimaru seemed weird and scary for everyone and Tsunade was Senju so everyone wanted to hang out with her but didn't really care. They weren't seen as what they were - people put the labels on them. But they didn't care about each other's labels and actually saw each other in true lights.
8. Tsunade knew it was an accident and it's not right but still she blamed Orochimaru for Nawaki's death for some time. It was something that seriously damaged their friendship and the team. Orochimaru was mad but also guilty, after all, he was responsible at least as a shinobi since Nawaki was under his watch. So he started to act cold and emotionless and was trying to distance himself from his teammates.
9. Jiraiya was in Ame while Dan died.
10. The whole his orphans mission was a bit irresponsible tbh. They already fought Hanzo and as he stated the conflict between Konoha and Ame is going to an end with Konoha's win. It's weird to stay here for three years in the middle of the war while there were other lands to fight. He left his teammates for some idea. Maybe that caused another crack in their team friendship.
11. If Tsunade would have find a way to live on with her trauma and follow the will of fire and stuff it would affect Orochimaru as well just as her grief affected him. It's like he would get an example that you can live on with this pain. So death isn't above human capability and we are not just the slaves of mortality (sounds stupid but i dont know how else to describe sorry). But as we know what he actually saw is that it broke her crucially to the point she couldnt be herself again. And so the death is above everything.
12. Oro wasn’t just acting as a cold pragmatic bitch in that cave but also tried to save Tsunade. Jiraiya knew it and that’s why he showed this sign to him like "I see what youre doing here" and that stunned Oro because he would prefer to look rather like a cold pragmatic bitch hehe
13. Just a thought. People in the village probably treated Oro as a foreigner or just wouldnt accept him because he looked so differently and had a weird attitude. That's why he sometimes didn't feel that Konoha is his home. After the wars where people were treated as means and tools, even the children, he himself developed this view on people - he dehumanized them and used as the means to his goals, just as his village did. Funny thing some people were straightly dehumanizing him too like Ibiki thought that he was a demon (tho he was a child). And he probably weren't the only one. Anyways the point is that it's logical that Orochimaru don't care about anybody but some few people, he's the product of his era. He's like Naruto that would chose the hatred way. But naruto had some good and understanding people around him and.. Orochimaru had them too, but match how Iruka treated Naruto and this Hiruzen's "I sAw tHe mAliCe in This cHiLd fRoM tHe BegGinNinG". And oro didn't even have a big ass evil fox in him. sry i hate hiruzen
ANYWAYS the moral of the story is not "go criminal if they hurt you" but always treat people like people. Waving my hand to Kant.
14. The reason why Orochimaru didn't pick some good morals to stick with through the hard times no matter what (like, idk, Jiraiya or Naruto) is because 1) I think he is/was pretty depending on people around him 2) the war fucked him and his friends up too much (Nawaki incident + Tsunade) 3) twisted addictions (though I don't think he's that sadistic, we never saw him torturing randoms just for fun, it was always some science experimental shit. He tends to get fun out of cruelty only when it's personal) that maybe developed as a way to sublimate anger and sadness caused by his parents loss (that's what they share with sasuke - unlicke naruto, they knew their parents and it's other kind of pain. Sasuke developed a revenge issue and Orochimaru - cruelty pleasure which... is kinda the same but less epic and more occasional lol).
15. Speaking of that, Orochimaru cared for Sasuke because he saw himself in him.
16. Oro hold grudges against Hiruzen for not choosing him to be Hokage not only because he was ambitious and/or egoistic, but also because Hiruzen was some kind of a father figure for him and his approval was important tho i doubt he was aware of that. He also probably could tell that Hiruzen was suspicios about him when he was a child and that led to many conflicts and was hurting as well.
17. Tsunade knew things weren't pretty with Orochimaru after the wars but she never expected them to be this bad. During the week that she was given in her arc she thought not only about how much she wants to see Nawaki and Dan again despite how wrong would it be but also was trying to bury all the good memories she had left of Orochimaru so it would be easier to kill him.
18. She poisoned Jiraiya exactly because she knew he would not let her do it. Jiraiya was always hesitant to kill and inclined to forgiveness, while Tsunade, as mentioned by Orochimaru, could be merciless (so much so that he was not surprised when Kabuto suggested that she wanted to use Jira for Edo Tensei).
19. That was one of her traits that scared Jiraiya and fascinated Orochimaru.
20. Remember how Oro grabbed Jiraiya's neck when the latter was trying to cover with hair jutsu? On the snake, in Tsnade's arc. Orochimaru could have easily kill Jiraiya by pulling the sword out of the mouth (arteries are right there) but he didn't. As well as he could kill Tsunade when she was still shaking - just aim for the neck or the heart. Instead, he just injured her lung and kicked her which is not a big deal for the kind of shinoby like her at all.. Also he helped Anko not accidentally kill herself but it would be way much profitable to let her do it. "Orochimaru has no feelings".
21. The reason he suddenly wanted to kill Tsunade instead of forcing her to heal his arms as it was planned (which is weird since it will not going to get him heals and he kinda said that he wouldn't want to kill her just minutes ago) is that not only she refused to help him (he thought he could work it out) but she also prefered the village over him (from his point of view). Out if everyone she was the closest to being able to understand him since the village caused her painful losses too but nevertheless she agreed to be on it's side.
22. He wasn't fighting her back in the end partly because he thought he deserved that. Somewhere deep inside hahah.
23. Tsunade got a fear to develop deep bonds so they probably weren't very close with Shizune (also the way she knocked her down in this hotel.. oh).
24. Orochimaru will be here when she'll die.
25. Orochimaru's eng dub to Tsunade: "I often wondered what it would be like to ring that pretty neck yours". No comments.
26. Orochimaru is either bi/pan or ace. Anything or nothing lmao
27. Hiruzen knew about at least some of the Oro’s illegal experiments and was okay just as he was okay with the Foundation all the time. Because it’s useful. Then he has discovered he went too far OR he knew everything and oro just became too inconvenient because of his methods. The way Orochimaru tells Sasuke about reasons they are well treated as the criminals is based on in his experience with Hiruzen.
28. As you may know the lyrics in Orochimaru’s music theme goes “don’t talk with the silence of the heart”. It was taken from one Indian song that also had lines like “don’t question life too much”, ”pain arose somewhere in the chest”, “don’t speak to the wounds of the heart”. Though I’m not sure 100% because I was translating it with some hindi dictionary with like zero knowledge of hindi
29. I like to think that this “silence of the heart” theme and the fact that he called his village a hidden sound village are somehow connected. The hidden sound is the possible explanation of all things waiting to be listened to but the truth is silent and you know it deep in your heart and it bothers you. The world is silent just like the life is meaningless but people can only hear. *Sigh* anyways
30. Orochimaru’s journey is the one about accepting death. When he saw Karin released her chains while was trying to get to Sasuke he understood that the death is a part of human’s strength.
Can’t wait to feel that everything I wrote is wrong or not enough or stupid and obvious lol. Anyways, it’s something that I wanted to share until I move to some other fandom.

looking for the truth (pt 3)
Fandom: Naruto
Relationship: Kakasaku
Characters: Hatake Kakashi, Haruno Sakura
read on ao3: here
part one / two / three / four / five / six / seven / eight / nine / ten / eleven / twelve / thirteen
Upon arrival at the village, the pair halted just before the gates, suspending themselves in the trees. Summoning his ninken, Kakashi sent off Pakkun to snatch some clothes better suited for a semi-affluent couple on a romantic retreat. A bit insulted at the trivial task, Pakkun only agreed when Sakura begged and scratched him on his head.
“Well, how could I refuse now?” The dog had said. “I always liked this one,” he shot at Kakashi.
He set off on his little shopping spree, money tucked into his jaw.
Due to his small stature, Pakkun had to make a few trips. First, he brought back a nice summer dress for Sakura: white with cherry blossom petals blowing in the wind.
“How fitting,” Kakashi said as Sakura once again rolled her eyes.
For Kakashi, Pakkun purchased (or rather, left coins near the stalls he had taken the clothes from) a smart button down and well-fitting jeans.
Holding up the light blue pants to the sky, Kakashi scrunched up his face. He wasn’t too excited to wear something so constricting. He much preferred the loose ninja outfit that made him feel free and safe. Protected.
“Oh, lighten up,” Sakura told him as she changed on a branch a few levels above him. “At least you’ll have pockets.”
Kakashi had to admit that was nice. Sakura was stuck with strapping weapons and scrolls on her upper legs, or stuffing them down her bra. Not very comfortable.
Regardless, he still grumbled as he stripped off his ninja clothes. Pakkun was shaking with laughter as Kakashi fumbled with the buttons of the shirt.
“Haven’t gotten out much lately, have you?” The dog commented.
With a glare, Kakashi finished the last button. “Why are you still here?”
The dog shrugged. “This is incredibly amusing. And I thought you might want some tips for this mission.”
“Tips? Why would I need advice?”
The dog gave him a knowing look. “Even though you avoided the question, I know you haven’t been out much, much less gone on a date recently. Do you know how to act around a girlfriend? A fiancé?”
Straightening out his collar, Kakashi avoided eye contact. “I think I’ll manage.”
“Maybe with anyone else, but this is Sakura we’re talking about.” Pakkun circled in place three times, then settled down with his paws crossed.
Kakashi paused in his fidgeting. “And what does that mean?”
He could see the dog sigh. “Well, I guess if you have to ask that, the point is moot.” He scratched his ear with a rear foot. “Any other things you need me or the crew to take care of? A perimeter check? A sniff-out?”
Although still wondering what Pakkun meant by his last comment, Kakashi let it slide. “I think we’re good for now, but I’ll definitely need the pack later on. Don’t stray too far.”
“We never do,” the dog replied. With a nod, he disappeared in a puff of smoke.
“Oh no, did I miss saying goodbye?”
“Yes, but he’ll be back, don’t wor—” his mind went blank when he saw Sakura. Her headband was stored in her pack, leaving her short hair to flow unrestrained around her face. Her grace in the wind perfectly mimicked the dress as it bellowed in the soft breeze both in the physical world and the illustration on the material. She looked so small in the dress, so different from the powerful Sakura he had constructed in his mind.
She cocked her head to the side. “Are you alright?”
Kakashi pinched himself. “I’m perfectly fine. Are you ready?”
Shouldering her backpack, Sakura nodded. “But what about?...” she shyly pointed at Kakashi’s face.
He patted himself down. “What? Is there something on my face?”
Somehow Sakura made herself even smaller by crossing one arm around her body to clutch at her opposite limb. “Shouldn’t you take off your mask? I’m not sure if that’s really a common thing around here.”
“Oh.” Kakashi brushed his mask with fingertips. She was probably correct, but he wasn’t ready to strip himself that much in front of the kunoichi. “I think it’ll be fine. Lots of people have loads of odd customs.”
“Okay,” Sakura said. And without further argument, she leapt down. Kakashi followed, meeting her at the base of the tree. She waited patiently, scanning the area around them and contemplating the entrance gate to the village.
“Here, let me take that,” Kakashi extended a hand for Sakura’s backpack.
She’d never looked more offended. Taking a step back, she said, “I’m perfectly capable of carrying it myself. I think I might even be stronger than you!”
“I don’t doubt that,” Kakashi admitted, “but people might think it odd if such a dutiful fiancé wasn’t carrying his partner’s luggage for her.”
Reluctantly, Sakura handed over her backpack. And with that joyous note, they left the solitude of the foliage to approach the main gateway.
Two hired guard stopped them. “Halt! What brings you two here?”
Before Kakashi could answer, Sakura draped herself over him, placing one hand over her chest and lifting one leg in the air. “Why do you think?” She batted her eyes at the guards.
Immediately the guards softened. “Of course, my apologies for my comrade’s rudeness,” the other said, slapping his fellow guard in the chest. “You two must be here for the festival. Welcome, welcome.” The two stepped aside and gestured into the main road of the village.
“Much gratitude,” Sakura said sweetly. Linking arms with Kakashi, she led him past the men and into the town.
“Impressive,” Kakashi mumbled down to her.
“I’m a kunoichi,” Sakura stated. “Charming is in the job description.”
Of course. Kakashi felt chills at the implications in her statement. Ninjas were expected to be used for seduction purposes, female ninjas more than men. Kakashi had had his fair share of such assignments, but thinking Sakura had been through such demeaning and self-deprecating situations made his lip curl in distaste. Kakashi had no worth. But Sakura shouldn’t have had to go through that. Not that any kunoichi should—but something about Sakura made him feel more protective. Maybe he was already taking his role as fiancé too seriously. He needed to take a step back and act more professional.
Kakashi left that dangerous train of thought to take in his surroundings. He was astounded at the scene in front of him: the main street was similar to Konoha’s, with lines of street vendors and different shops. But for the event the people had clearly gone crazy. Drapes of pink and white lights arched through the sky above, crossing over from one street lamp to the next, flashing their colors. Banners hung from every building, proclaiming the event in huge letterings and large hearts. The street itself was lined with flowers of many kinds, including roses petals, daisies, and even peach blossoms.
Solicitors roamed around, selling flowers and chocolates to anyone that would listen. Vendors overflowed with bouquets, trinkets, and food for loved ones. Dozens and dozens of couples swooned over the attention from shopkeepers, dragging significant others from stall to stall. From all the rustle and bustle Kakashi wondered how they would get the information they needed for Tsunade.
Sakura tugged on his arm. “Come on, we should find a place to set up camp.” Once again, Kakashi followed, after slyly removing his arm from Sakura’s. The lack of warmth left him empty, and the space between them was cold. Sakura shot him a surprised look, which turned to of sadness and slight rejection. But she covered it up quickly and took the lead down the path.
“Ahh, what a lovely lady! Would you like a necklace? Lovely necklace for a lovely lady!”
“It’s such a hot day, how about a nice refreshing smoothie! Peach and cherry to match that beautiful hair of yours!”
“Take a break and sit down, Madam! Let me sketch you and your lover!”
Sakura was the target of nonstop street car peddlers. They zoomed in on her summer dress and immediately recognized her as a tourist. Every time she indulged them, but after a moment she would always turn them down.
Hands raised in a small surrender, she apologized. “Sorry, but we’re not interested right now!” And Kakashi would follow her once more as she continued down the road.
After the eleventh shopkeeper took interest in her, Kakashi stepped forward. “Please leave my fiancé alone, we’ve had a long journey and really must find a place to rest. Have a good day.” He placed a hand on the small of Sakura’s back, leading her away from the leering stare of the salesman.
“There’s no reason to be rude,” Sakura muttered under her breath.
Exacerbated, he shot back, “There’s also no reason to stop at literally every little shop.”
She tugged herself away from his body. “We just arrived, we need to get a feel for who is here and what’s going on! Ever heard of reconnaissance?” Shamefully Kakashi looked away, knowing she was right. It was just not the way he would have gone about it. “Besides, we also need to keep up appearances. No one will guess if we’re snooping if that’s just what we’re like.”
Sakura said that as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, but Kakashi hadn’t even begun to think of that. He was just planning on settling down in a hotel room and sending out his dogs at night, and then following up on any suspicious activity. Spying in broad daylight was a tactic, just one he barely employed. He was still thinking as if he were alone on this mission.
Crossing his arms, Kakashi tapped his chin. “You’re quite right. I’m sorry.” He placed his hands in his hips. “Good thing my fiancé is so smart!” He said loudly.
“Sens—Kakashi,” Sakura corrected himself, looking away with a blush. “You don’t to be so obvious.”
“Gotta keep up appearances,” Kakashi referenced Sakura’s line with a shrug, walking away to explore the other shops, pretending to be interested.
Before he reached the cart lined with books, a hand cut of his line of vision. Following the limb upwards, Kakashi saw a young man with a bright smile attached. He was dressed quite smartly in a dark blue suit, and a nice brown bow tie.
“Good evening, sir! Pardon my eavesdropping, but am I right in overhearing that you and your fiancé have only just arrived at our wonderful town?”
In a split second, Kakashi memorized the man’s sharp chin, wide nose, and big ears. Height: 5’11. Hair: dark brown. Skin: brown. Eyes: green. He was overconfident, rich, and eager.
“Yes,” Kakashi answered, looking to Sakura as she joined his side. Taking her cue, he slid his arm around her waist, careful not to put a lot of weight on her. “We are so excited to share this wonderful adventure together. And you are?” He still didn’t take the man’s hand.
The man paused, taken aback by Kakashi’s slightly cold demeanor. “Oh, of course! I am the Lord of this village’s son, Futoshi Sato.”
With a nudge from Sakura, Kakashi finally took the man’s hand. “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Sato.”
Sakura extended her hand out as well. “I’m Sakura Haru, and this is Kakashi Hata. Soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Hata, obviously,” she giggled.
Futoshi shook Sakura’s hand as well. “Wonderful, truly wonderful! Our entire village is blessed that you both chose to spend the next few days here. Have you decided on a place to stay?”
The pair shook their heads.
Futoshi beamed. “Then I must insist that I offer you the finest of accommodations our Village has to offer. Right next to the residency our Lord, by the palace, are our best houses. Please allow me to give escort you there.”
Spinning on his heel, Futoshi led them through the tight streets of the village. Sakura and Kakashi let go of each other and stood a respectful distance apart to follow.
“The Lord of this village is also the daimyo, since this land is so small,” Kakashi noted.
“I know,” Sakura whispered back. “This is a good opportunity to get close to the royal family, without being too obvious.”
Before Kakashi could ask her to divulge how she meant to so that, Sakura excitedly pointed to a ramen stand within their eyesight.
“I’m famished!” She announced. “Would you mind pausing a moment so we can eat a bit? We haven’t had a bite to eat in ages.”
After one look at the little run-down ramen stand, Futoshi had a look of utmost horror on his face. “Of course, but here? In this place? For ramen? Do you not want me to take you to some of our five-star restaurants?”
“I love ramen,” Sakura insisted. “Please, I would love it if you joined us.”
Kakashi had to hand it to the girl. Futoshi had no way to refuse without insulting his guest now. How Sakura managed to be such a bad shogi player and yet be a master at mind games was impressive.
“Alright,” Futoshi relented, joining Sakura who had already sat down at the stall.
“One tonkatsu ramen and one miso ramen,” Sakura ordered as Kakashi sat down on her other side. Kakashi shot her a surprised look, and she smiled. “What type of fiancé would I be if I didn’t know my partner’s ramen order?”
“Quite right,” Futoshi admired the two of them. Sakura was correct, that was Kakashi’s preferred ramen order: good old miso style. And goodness knows they’d had ramen countless times with Naruto. Kakashi was just surprised Sakura took the time to notice that he never strayed off from his one selection at Ichiraku.
Futoshi flagged down the waiter. “One more tonkatsu, please.” He turned to the ninja. “So are you two excited for all the festivities planned?” Futoshi asked, resting his elbow on the counter.
Sakura rested her head on a fist. “We don’t actually know much about what’s been scheduled.”
Futoshi’s eyes lit up. “There’s so much that we have prepared! Tonight, there’s a dance set to music that has been choreographed by yours truly,” he gestured to himself. “Tomorrow is the celebration of the first meeting: partners plan on gathering at a designated location by themselves, to mimic bumping into each other for the first time. Later that night we have a firework show. Then we have a day just full of activities, ranging from pottery, flower gathering, picnicking, petting zoo, boat rides, and more! The next day we rejoice in the inner beauty; participants are expected to wear masks so everyone can focus on the personality quirks that make us love one another. I see you’re already prepared for that one,” Futoshi joked.
“Indeed,” Kakashi squinted his eyes in a smile.
“Wow,” Sakura tapped on the counter. “That’s a lot. How much is this costing the village?”
With a wave in the air, Futoshi did not look concerned. “Oh, this whole shebang won’t even cause a dent into our village’s funds. We have so much nowadays!”
Right then, three heaping bowls of ramen slid in front of them. “Dig in!” The chef told them with a bright smile.
The conversation ended, so Kakashi filed the information for a later discussion. For now, he would enjoy his favorite type of ramen.

Any feedback is very welcome!

(1) In the cluster au, how do natural affinities work? what I mean is if Izuna goes in Tobirama's body (he visits?) he's using Tobi's chakra but Izuna is primarily fire affinity so does that mean he can't use his giant fireball skill while visiting water-jutsu pro Tobirama or do the affinities also go with? I was also wondering if their cluster was unique in how they have 3/8 members being ninjas. I always assumed the civilians outnumbered the ninjas by a lot so are they a "tank" cluster.
(2) I also wanted to know if you Aburama’s character’s bugs felt the difference. I would assume no from what you’ve stated before but I love the idea of the bugs freaking out and no one in her clan getting it. I’ve also been picturing you villain kidnapping one of the civis of the cluster and them being all “duuuude you do not know who you’re messing with. You just pissed off 2 of the strongest ninjas in Fire country. Be ready to weep.” And then Tobi and Izuna transporting via Hirashin (?)(3) behind the baddy of the day with Darth Vader’s music in the background. Actually, would Tobirama mark all the cluster members with Hirashin so that he can find them quickly? How come so many of the members are from Fire country? Will the older brothers of the duo one day realise what is happening?(4) what happens when a member of another cluster crosses eyes with one of your cluster’s ninjas. It’s hugely problematic for the secrecy of the clan unless they have a way of blocking that? How old were all the members when they became a cluster? Did Izuna and Tobirama realise they were born on the same day? That must have annoyed in pre-cluster times.
whoops, I said I’d answer when I got home, but we went out shopping instead...
So, the thing is, I actually headcanon that Tobirama’s worst affinity, but that he’s a stubborn bastard who refuses to let it be weak, which, that attitude, actually transfers over well in this.  The ninja just work to make sure that none of them are at a disadvantage when in each other’s bodies (nor in the civilians but that’s not as important to your question)
Yes and no as to the Cluster being unique in the ratio of ninja to civilians.  I based the OCs in what I felt lined up the best with the roles of the Sense8 Cluster, so there needed to be 3 fighters.  It’s not completely unusual but nor is it really that common.  While there definitely are more civilians than ninja, just by number of Hidden Villages that exist, there’s a decent amount of ninja in the world, but certain Clans are....unlikely to produce a sensate.
To follow that, certain Clans are very likely to have sensates.  Like the Aburame.  Basically they have a mindset that is very conductive to being a sensate so they pop up often.  Which means that Suzu just tells her bugs and the bugs are like ‘sweet, they’re like your human hive’ and can tell when it’s someone else.  (okay the bugs just became a character to be included in all this, wow, I hadn’t actually thought much about them)  Also there’s probably a number of people in the Aburame Clan that know about the Cluster. (certain things a fluid as the majority of this AU hasn’t been written)
Oh, you know Tobi’s tagged everyone with the Hirashin Seal.  He’s much like Will in that he will do anything for his Cluster and his loved ones.  And Izuna is like Wolfgang in that he will attack anyone who threatens them.  And Suzu is so Sun it’s ridiculous.  All three will fuck the bad guys up so bad.
While one day the Clans of various members of the Cluster will one day be in Konoha, for the OCs I actually was spreading them out.  Suzu I’m thinking is more towards the boarder with the Land of Noodles.  Hina’s Clan is canonically from Tea, Nori’s Clan is from the Naruto Jinraiden: The Day the Wolf Howled novel and doesn’t give an exact location from what I can find, but it’s most likely either west of Ame or south-west of Tani.  I’ve placed the Haruno Clan as coming from Yu no Kuni and migrating to Konoha as a way to get better deals for protection of their caravans, so Nanami isn’t in Fire.  I haven’t quite decided where the Taira family is located as of yet - Makoto just has access to a lot of maps.  And Katsurou is off in the Land of Demons though his family might be somewhere else.  Plus Fire is rather large, so it isn’t surprising that there are a number from there.  Just luck of the draw as it were.
As to the brothers?  Well, that is a plot point, so I shan’t say.
It tends to be pretty obvious when someone is Visiting, so the sensate in question just moves to where they wouldn’t compromise the security - though it’s rare (almost will never happen) for Tobirama after a lifetime of fighting a clan who’s entire thing is using their eyes to mess with you.  Senju just don’t meet people’s eyes.
The Cluster is sort of lucky in that they were all pretty young when they were birthed as a Cluster - early teens, maybe 13 or 14 at max (I haven’t quite decided because of the next part), definitely after the River Confrontation because I need that to happen as is.  I’m not sure if they would have known each other’s birthday, as I feel like it might be something not advertised until a ninja is older, you know?

Hi, I joined the sasunaru fandom not so long ago and you were one of the first blogs I encountered! I want to start off by saying how much I love every little analysis that you do. It's obvious how much effort you put into each piece of work you do, which I ma very grateful for (as it's hard to find blogs which are not biased just because of their ship). That is also the reason I came to you specifically to ask you about something. I read a few other analysis of the canon ships to see why 1/?
people ship them. I was never too keen on them. But some analysis did make sense (I guess) and it kind of upset me because maybe the canon pairings did make sense and us sasunaru shippers are just looking for anything to invalidate those ships. I’m not saying that Sasuke and Naruto had not potential because I’m 100% sure that what they had was something special. I just get sad thinking that they did not actually love each other and are happily married to other people (sorry if I sound childish) 2/?
I mean… How can they say that Naruto was ‘slow’ (he clearly knew about his feelings for Sakura) or that Sasuke was in the darkness and couldn’t return Sakura’s love (he was able to return Naruto’s feelings of friendship/love)? I was wondering if you’d be okay with giving a more in-depth analysis of NH and SS development (if they have any, in your opinion) and if either of them is happy. Thank you very much in advance if you are able to do this :)
First of all, thank you and pardon my rather late response. You are free to view NH and SS as logical pairings. Liking or acknowledging NH and SS does not mean you can’t appreciate SNS. However, your assumption that follows is flawed. You think because we see flaws in NH and SS, it means therefore that we SNS shippers must be biased since the majority of us disagrees with the endgame couples and is not sheepish with their critique. Needless to say, you confuse me a bit. Your message is contradicting, but I will just assume it’s due to the fact that you are unsure. I will put my thoughts under the cut for more convenient reading as my reply is fairly long.
Warning: The following content is heavily anti-NH and anti-SS. Hence, I’d kindly advise anyone who cannot accept differing views to keep scrolling.
Starting off with NaruHina’s development (or lack thereof), Naruto is a character that throughout the entirety of the series uses self-insertion to relate to comrades and villains alike. He feels empathy once he manages to establish a sense of similarity between himself and the other character, and while not all his bonds are based on this concept (Sakura, Kakashi, and Jiraiya being some notable exceptions), it holds truth for a majority of his bonds. This leads to a vast number of characters being eligible to be his foil—and by definition, they are.
If you would like to justify Hinata being the only logical partner for Naruto because she is his foil, then no, the argument doesn’t work. Nagato, Obito, Neji, or Itachi are all foils to Naruto (in different ways) that have given him admiration and acknowledgment, whereas Sasuke, Rock Lee, or Gaara are all foils that have extended the admiration to friendship, support, and love. NH shippers aren’t wrong in saying that Hinata could fit as a counterpart to Naruto, but it doesn’t mean that Naruto and Sasuke do not have any potential to become a far better couple. Naruto has many more literary counterparts, so their conclusion is not sufficiently supported by that argument alone.
In my opinion, NH has no romantic development. Hinata’s friendship to Naruto is no different from any other ordinary friendship Naruto has made throughout the series. Yes, Naruto and Hinata have had moments. That’s it, though. All in all, his bond to Hinata is not any more special than his bond to most people. The difference is, Hinata suddenly became his romantic interest despite them not interacting in a romantic context before.
Now I shall attempt to describe what is fundamentally wrong with SasuSaku and the reason why it lacks development and undermines the individual characters. I am aware that with good development, it could’ve more than reasonably flown off, but Kishimoto’s subpar writing in the last arcs created the SS we currently have. I do not hate any character individually, however together, they bring the worst out in each other.
Sakura begins the story as a scared and helpless ninja who learns to toughen up and is eventually trained by Tsunade in medical ninjutsu and combat. She has one of the best chakra controls in the ninja world with the physical and mental strength to match. Unfortunately, she returns to the same meek stuttering fangirl at the beginning of the series every single time Sasuke is involved. Sasuke, on the other hand, is introduced as an incredibly capable ninja who is a quiet and mysterious person with a traumatic past, making him reclusive and angry.
He had much more opportunity to open up to Sakura in the first part of the series since they went on missions together, fought together, and functioned as teammates; yet, he refused to talk in-depth about himself. And the problem is, none of the issues between them were ever addressed or resolved. One curt and unexplained apology and a time skip don’t cut it. As if that single sentence makes up for the complete disregard of Sasuke’s emotions and wishes on Sakura’s part and the hurtful remarks Sasuke uttered. Before anyone wants to argue that Sasuke’s words weren’t meant in a hurtful manner—it doesn’t matter because Sakura was still sad, and it’s important what the person who receives feels, not what the giver expects the receiver to feel.
Overall, his lack of interest in her was obvious enough to make Sakura question whether he cares about her at all while fighting Madara. I mean he dismissed her and Kakashi when Kaguya arrived, he allowed them both to fall into lava (a certain death) without batting an eye, and after Naruto yelled at him, he didn’t show any remorse. I’m not saying he should’ve shown remorse, I’m simply explaining how his actions represent the honest-to-goodness, as clear as day, down-to-earth climax of indifference he feels towards Sakura. Any sort of social relationship that involves a person who experiences indifference, whether the other person falls into lava or dies a painful death, is genuinely disturbing. And if that wasn’t enough, he throws Sakura’s feelings back in her face with a traumatising genjutsu and states that he doesn’t understand what she sees in him (Kakashi seems equally puzzled).
Sakura pretty much is the main reason SS represents an unhealthy relationship (notice how I used the term “unhealthy” instead of “abusive”). She becomes selfish and emotionally manipulative whenever she interacts with Sasuke, from start to finish. Whilst Sasuke eventually apologises for his behaviour, Sakura never does. The worst part, though, is that she actually had the audacity to compare him leaving Konoha to the Uchiha massacre.
This was a poor attempt to guilt-trip Sasuke and the readers into making Sasuke the bad guy and into humouring her selfish desires that take absolutely no one else into account. Their dynamic for almost all of the series is summarised as Sakura switching to her submissive personality and Sasuke getting annoyed. It’s a huge understatement in an even huger understatement to believe they merely have unresolved issues. Is there any evidence Sasuke ever saw Sakura as more than a friend or a pseudo-family member?
Having said that, I hope this answers your question sufficiently, Anon!
