My EACON3 post is finally here... with all my photos.

I'll skip the trip and go straight to the con because I fear it's going to be a long one. I am not going into details about the panels and other things that went on, but mainly about my interactions with the guests as that's what the con is about, right? I am also probably forgetting a bunch of stuff, so I might add things later if I recall them again, and here and there I may remember things in a different order.

The con started friday evening, I had won tickets to the game night and let me tell you I was terrified and not prepared. On top of that I was exhausted from the trip and had shitty medication side effects too because I had swapped meds earlier that week. Yes, fuck my life.

To make all THAT worse, while I was waiting in line to enter the game room I got texts from my friends who were at the cocktail party with the guests and they told me Arnas had long(er) hair and some facial hair. It was over for me before it started (IYKYK)

Luckily his facial hair was minimal and his hair wasn't long enough for me to go insane, but still, the tone was set and I avoided him like the fucking plague for real

Let me first say that I didn't expect Arnas to recognise me to be fair, as it had been like, what, half a year since we met in Germany? We had a brief interaction on insta a few days before eacon tho and that had made me a little anxious that he might remember me, but I did not want to be delusional so I kept telling myself he simply wouldn't remember me (haha....)

For the game I was in a team with Eliza, Stefanie and Ossian. Eliza is the life of the party and made everyone introduce themselves in our group. For some reason people always struggle with my name, so I had to repeat my name like 5 times and the entire group eventually shouted my name back at me to get it right, which the whole room could more or less hear, and behold; I looked up and saw Arnas glanced my way and then I just knew for sure that he now knew it was me (and I stressed out)

The game itself was hilarious, we played the card game Werewolves and Eliza was simply so much fun, Stefanie was more quiet but so sweet and Ossian… fucking hell, me and Ossian became rivals real fast. He kept saying he didn't trust me (in the game) and felt I was suspicious, which led to him turning the whole group against me and being cast out (which was part of the game). Eventually it turned out that he was completely wrong about my character in the game and, well, I casted him out the next round in revenge. We were going at each other, lovingly, and he was 100% the biggest surprise of the weekend for me by how cool he was and I became an instant fan of him because of his personality. 10/10, cool dude!

Random note: at some part during the game I heard Arnas laugh so hard in his own group while our group tried to concentrate and I struggled not to burst in laughter because of that and it was rough.

When the game was over, Christian and Harry stopped by every group for a brief chat and wow; Christian, beautiful man irl?! He also photobombed my group photo we took afterwards. 10/10, lovely dude! and Harry was HILARIOUS. Did not expect, another 10/10!

After the game I left the room and literally walked past Arnas without looking at him because I just couldn't??? I was so nervous because of the stupid jokes I made to him since Germany, I just couldn't face him for some reason and my meds side effects made me want to hide (constant flushed cheeks, it's awful, even when I'm shivering cold) however, I felt bad about avoiding him because I worried then maybe he wondered why I didn't say hi when we clearly "knew each other" so to say but, well, I went to bed and called it a night.

Saturday morning was rough. I slept well, the meds side effects had lessened so I looked more decent (until later that day again ugh) and I had a selfie lounge ticket for 10am (that's no hour for selfies). I met up with @mrsarnasdelicious and we stuck together for the lounge.

James was the first to approach us, and he was incredibly lovely (and tall, wow). He asked us where we were from and was overall just super kind. We took a few photos and then he continued to the next people. 10/10!!

Then Stefanie came over and again, she is lovely and gooooooorgeous!! She told me she liked my dress as it had the shoulders cut out and she loved that it showed my tattoos. I can't remember what else we talked about unfortunately, but just know she was a pleasure to meet. 10/10, hope to meet her again!

Up next we had Mark! I was so excited to finally talk to him, because in Germany I only saw him during my duo photo op, and we couldn't really talk. I told him I was super excited about him being in the second season of Rogue Heroes and he was so enthusiastic I mentioned it that he rambled on about several things that happened on set when he was filming that season and my heart was so, so happy. I did truly have a hard time keeping up with him talking because of his accent. Mark also agreed that 10 in the morning was an ungodly hour for a selfie lounge and we felt both tired lmao. He's a whole 10/10!!

Eliza was next and she remembered me from the game night and I ended up telling her that I saw on her insta that she went to a Coldplay show in Sweden earlier that year, which I was supposed to go to as well, but I had to sell my tickets due to several reasons. We had a Coldplay fangirl moment and it was everything, I got to show her my several Coldplay tattoos as well and basically she's just a queen who hypes everyone up. Love her! We agreed that at the next Coldplay tour we'll be together at the show (I wish!) 10/10!!!!

Then we met Eysteinn!! My god!! No words. He is so sweet and shy and soft spoken, we absolutely vibed. We bonded over the fact that we both love to travel by train and really don't like travelling by plane. He loves to journal during his trips while I told him I love to read or just watch the scenery. Absolutely a blessing of a man! When I took our selfie I told him that I suck at taking selfies, and he said he has the same problem, so we just made the best of it together. 14/10, he's absolutely adorable.

The dreaded moment arrived…………… Arnas came up to us at this point and I had no chance of avoiding him anymore and all my bad jokes flashed before my eyes-

He greeted me with a happy 'Labas!' (Hi in Lithuanian) and he gave me a hug and I told him 'Laba diena' (good day) which he said was very good. Before I could say anything else he asked me where Danas was (long backstory to this, won't write that all here) I told him Danas did not want to join me to the con so he's back home. Arnas then went on a ramble about how he understood that, because he also wouldn't want to be in the same room with the guy his partner would have a crush on and also wondered why it's okay for women to have crushes, but boyfriends are not allowed to have crushes. I said 'I asked Danas several times who his crush is, but he always tells me he has none.'

Arnas was very pleased with himself here and said; 'haha, see, I totally tricked you into telling me I'm your crush, because I didn't know that.'

me: well *rolls eyes, lowkey shrug* (I believe at this point he "teased" @mrsarnasdelicious for a moment and girlie, you know you were rightfully flustered and it was cute, while I was left rather unphased by his remarks and I still believe that is why he began to rile you up hahaha)

Arnas then went on about the crushes problem in relationships and mentioned to me his gf would "not be happy" if he had a crush. He then somehow flipped the topic towards being obsessed with someone and I cut him off there saying; 'wow, but now you're implying I'm obsessed with you, and that is completely something else.'

Mans got put back in his place and apologised because he was totally blowing smoke up his own ass there (in his own words) and agreed that having a crush and being obsessed are two different things. And honestly the whole moment was chaotic and very surreal.

We also somehow ended up talking about other Lithuanian words and I told him I knew the word that means chicken, which he agreed was very important to know and we started saying 'chicken' in different languages, he then asked me what the French word was and we pondered for a second but I then remembered and it was rather wholesome and completely random????????

We finally got ready to take our selfie but then he wanted to record a video for Danas in Lithuanian. He started talking and I was like; 'what, no, I'm taking a photo?' He then said we could take a photo first but insisted on the video so yeah we made a video where he said some Lithuanian saying and yeah.. It was again very, very surreal. 10/10, still baffled he remembered me and Danas, who he has never met.

Up last we met Timothy and I told him I was very excited to meet him, because in Germany I was too broke to get a photo with him. We spoke about the German con and he said how surreal that con was because he had slept at the airport, arrived just in time, then at one point he went to the toilet and walked into William Shatner, which left him kinda starstruck, and he said 'it felt like I was in the upside down!' and then he apparently walked out of the toilets and walked into a Stranger Things cosplayer and he was about to lose his mind. Genuinely the most amazing anecdote of the weekend. Another 10/10!

Later that day I had polaroid photo ops, one with Eysteinn and one with Arnas. Eysteinn was once again lovely and asked if we should just pose cool, and well, see the result below.

The polaroid with Arnas was chaos again. For some reason he likes to say 'Sanneeeeee' when he sees me (vocal stim? perhaps. also he never struggled with my name, bless) so he did that, but I was exhausted from the whole day and couldn't hide it anymore while he was still high energy. He gave me a hug as I said I was so tired and we then cursed in Dutch at the same time. I asked if he knew anything else in my language and he proceeded to say in Dutch; 'what do you want?' and this left me shook: 'sleep tight, hot thing' (roughly translated). James then asked what language we spoke, we said Dutch, which James thought was cool and he got ready to take the photo. I asked Arnas how we should pose and he went 'should we do the Lithuanian anthem or is that too much?' I jokingly agreed it was too much and we both placed our hand on our heart and James said he loved the pose and told us to hold it. See the result below!

The panels I went to throughout the day were fun and I also met several super lovely people during the day like @whitedarkmoonflower, @bubblyabs (we hung out most of the con and again, bless you!) and also I met @sihtricsafin!

Later that day I was getting an autograph from Arnas and gave him the letters and art some people had sent to me, which he absolutely loved at first quick glance, and he said that his favorite con moment is actually after the con where he goes through the stuff that people have given him. He randomly told me he liked my necklace and I told him I actually got in in Vilnius at a fair earlier that year and he liked that, then asked me which fair it was but I told him I didn't remember. We then spoke a bit about Vilnius in general and it was great. When he saw the keychain that @thalygremlinsson made him (a gremlin with his mismatched eyes) he said he'd put it on his keychain and he also told me a random story how a firework flew into his home when he was a kid while he was playing with a gremlin toy??? I also have no idea besties. Anyway, we got to take another selfie again and…

Speaking about my friend @sihtricsafin… we joined each other in the autograph line for Arnas, and she had bought a recording of her autograph and asked me to film it, which I did, and well, the problems between me and Arnas then began. His handwriting was brought up and he remembered I messaged him as a reply to his story months ago that I thought his writing has not good enough to get tattooed (lighthearted) he agreed then and wrote he was happy I hadn't tattooed it, but apparently he was still "bitter" about that and we got it all on tape.

Also we found out he has never seen Nightmare Before Christmas and did not know who Jack Skellington was after asking my friend about the skull on her beanie (it was Jack), he then jokingly said something like that they didn't have a tv in Lithuania when he was younger. 

Also found out he thinks Muse is a great band and he played Otherside by RHCP on his speaker at some point (bass player!Sihtric confirmed???)

Aaaand that was more or less the end of my saturday at the con!

Sunday was rough. I was very tired from the days before but we pulled through. The day started with a group panel and later that day I had a photo op with Arnas.

Mans absolutely looked me up and down when I approached him at the op and ngl, I am not attracted to Arnas in real life (unless he has the SKMD/Masema haircut and the facial hair) but that split second 100% affected me and left me bewildered for a sec LMAO

I had no idea how to pose, and he said 'oh, classic, Sanne,' (someone was still petty (jk)) and then we both just posed as if we had no clue what to do, but it turned out to look like we are a married couple in the verge of a divorce and I love it

@whitedarkmoonflower gave me an autograph ticket for Mark (as I gave her two selfie tickets so we kinda swapped) and Mark gives great hugs btw! He signed my book but the marker fucked up so I got the cover and the inside page signed by him. bless.

Later that day I had a selfie with Christian and one with Harry because they weren't at the selfie lounge on saturday. Harry was so kind and I wished him good luck with all his future projects and he really really appreciated that. He's so sweet! When I took my photo with Christian he said 'oh, great camera! Or do we just look good because we are two beautiful people?'

Now, I usually ignore compliments bc I suck with them, but I just said 'both,' because in that moment we were just two beautiful people taking a selfie. He said he loved my skull tattoo and that he considered getting a skull tattoo himself (something along those lines) which was really cool???

I then went to Eysteinn to get my polaroid signed, and he said he liked the photo and that we looked like a death metal band. I said I'm up for that and told him I can play drums, he then told me he can play piano and I said we could make that work, to which he smiled (god… that smile). He loves to give hugs, so I got one, and it was great!!

Okay… so, very last minute I decided to get my polaroid with Arnas signed and it was a shit show (positive). It started with the fact he mentioned he didn't like the Beatles (he was playing his own music on speaker again) except for one song and he then looked at me and said 'or is it because I am a snob?' I shrugged and said 'perhaps.' Big mistake. He was "offended" and said he thought he was amongst friends here. I snapped back and told him I heard from my friends the day before that he told them that I trash talk about his handwriting to everyone (something like that). He got defensive and said it wasn't true blahblahblah, we both didn't give up and (lovingly) argued about it. He then finally signed my polaroid and messed up (obviously with that handwriting) and he said that it was my fault (man child) and wrote a petty ass message on the polaroid (toddler). We then told each other (more quietly) that he wasn't talking bad about me and I told him I knew that, but it was sweet of him to clear up that he truly never intended to make something sound bad and I in my turn told him I understood that, and there was this mutual understanding that everything was just a joke but that bickering was rather intense, and I think we both felt the need to make sure we both knew this was never serious, which truly made me love his personality even more.

We ended on good terms and a hug, I told him good evening in Lithuanian and then left. And with that, the con got to an end too.

When I got home the next evening I had only stepped through the door and received a dm from Arnas with a photo of the postcard I gave him, indicating he had read my message to him and it was honestly the most perfect way to end that entire weekend. The timing was insane and I shed a tear!

you put them on one by one, and stare at your hands for a while.

you're frowning.

in fact, you feel your cheeks get warm, your eyes water.

Crowley literally spawns out of nowhere, from behind you.

He rushes to see what's wrong.

you don't even question his presence, i mean, it's Crowley.

he's probably been there for a while, just to see your genuine, grateful reaction to his amazing gift!

Crowley was a good reason as to why believe that men in general were straight up sketchy.

after your last class of the day, your guardian texts you, he has a surprise for you, so come see him!

When you do, he's waiting for you holding a beautifully wrapped box.

you open it and....!

there's a plushie of a puppy inside!

"Do you like it, pup? would you at least let him accompany you?"

you stay silent.

Since you got here, on Twisted Wonderland, no one has really treated you like back at home.

next day you suddenly have a partner for the next upcoming project, and it seems like it's a certain someone that is more than glad to help you, and that will be patient no matter what.

ik this is probably a dead topic to you and i apologize for bringing it up again but i was just rewatching the leaked jk videos of him in his apartment with that girl bc i saw some discourse abt it in another tkk blog’s comments. some jk stan who’s convinced he’s straight, that he was sleeping arnd/had a girlfriend, and that we’re all delusional came in the comments and basically started stirring shit lol. they mentioned they believed he was dating that tattoo artist girl who he was photographed w his arms arnd as well. but i thought she had a bf at the time of that pic being released? idk fs tho and that pic def gave off close friend vibes to me?

anyways, seeing the discourse made me go back and watch the video again and the more i watch it the more conflicted i get. like he is rlly all over her. arms wrapped all around her and walking holding her from behind like that. ofc it’s POSSIBLE that they’re just friends especially if he is gay/queer (ik that kind of physical affection is more typically acceptable between queer men and straight women than when both parties are straight). but to me for some reason it seems improbable and like that’s just an excuse to keep myself believing in tkk ? like really…we’re convincing ourselves him and the girl he had at his apartment at night alone w him are just friends when almost everyone and their mother would see that as clearly romantic and crossing platonic boundaries ? he’s THAT close, comfortable, and affectionate w a girl he’s just friends with ?

Yeah, you probably ar submitting this because you want me to reassure you 😊 and that’s totally fine honestly. I mean, we are invested in Tae and Jk and stuff can really become complicated and confusing at times. Being confused is never a great feeling and you just want to not feel confused.

I need things to be realistic myself as well. I don’t need Jk and Tae to be together, I basically just think they are. I’m not afraid to step away from them if I feel they’re no longer together (or.. if they never were). And I will definitely let everyone know if/when I ever feel like something is off (and right after that I will hide because Jkkrs and anti’s will come for my head 😂).

To me it is all about the things I know for sure. Like Tae wearing that t-shirt for instance.. on the same day as Jk when he shot that mv. To me that is something strong and real talking in favor of them being together. Same goes for other situations: Tae and Jk at that hotel after/before Dubai, Jk singing that song to Tae, BH acting weird about them (and them alone), the way Tae constantly mentions Jk… and I could go on for a while probably. Those are actual things we have witnessed.. things that are real and when you look at the whole of it.. things that are consistent and that we have witnessed for a prolonged duration of time.

When I look at the footage of supposedly Jk with that girl, I see a person backhugging a girl for a real short amount of time. I have no context, I have no clue about there being more people or not. I can also clearly see that the footage is manipulated. I know it was released at a shady timing, with the purpose of harming him. I know that there’s an actual platform where people who hate him gather and plan stuff like this.

So when I put what I know is true about Jk and Tae next to what I know of that footage… the scale just tips over. I do not trust shady footage more than I trust what I know of Jk and Tae. And I might be wrong.. absolutely. But I just don’t think I am.

If I had no knowledge about Tae and Jk before seeing that footage.. maybe I wouldn’t have secondguessed it as well. But, I do have that other knowledge and therefore if I see something that goes against that.. I look at what’s fed to me more critically.

I don’t know if this has settled your mind anon. Personally I always feel fine with not having all the answers, but I can also understand that can be real unsettling. Maybe try and land in the ‘I don’t know for now’ zone for a bit?

Im gonna hit u with a big very delusional one ^_^ This is more of a silly thang that could or could not be seen in universe BUT superiors eyes flash either green amber or red (sorta like some animals' eyes in the dark) when he's feeling rlly intense emotions ^_^

Green is when he's a little malicious and he's got more of his old villain-y vibe going on, usually when he's like reaal annoyed or frustrated but in his arrogant petty evil genius way :3 usually nothing bad ACTUALLY happens, but when he's like this he goes a bit more extreme/suspicious with his methods but its always a ploy or a trick to get the badguy to back off, like threatening an innocent or being mischievously unpredictable >:3 it flashes briefly like when authors say characters have a mischievous glint in their eyes ^_^ I'd say this is triggered by more negative emotions like frustration and anger

Amber is when more of the. .Spidey side comes out, very empathetic and protective of innocents and also usually a big worrier</3 its usually when he sees someone in imminent danger and he goes full hero mode doing things he would normally say he finds illogical, like having 0 self preservation to jump into action to save someone !! :3 or going out of his way to do more than he would usually see fit !! While usually his more logical approach to saving people results in the least damage or harm to all parties, this helps in situations where he really has no time to think, but always ends with him getting more beaten up than usual </3 it flashes for longer than the green and usually lingers throughout whatever heroic action he's suddenly had the urge to take <3 I guess this is more positively charged since its his desire to help others and keep others safe? Its based on love for others I guess ^_^

Red is my most insanest idea because its all my own weird take 💕 Unlike green and amber where its some aspect of his thought process having more influence than usual in emotionally charged situations, red is uhhmm I'm a bit silly ok get this . So I had an idea before I read the comics that since he is able to access the memories of peter parker and they were like, not very spiderman-focused, the essence of "spiderman" <-strong capable and confident 'great power', is seperate from the peter parker stuff, which is the 'great responsibility' and all that.. so,, in like legitimately. Now otto used to be very good at handling intense negative emotions (with violence) but with the new morals factoring in and the way its affected him I feel like even he would get overwhelmed in some situations. And in those most horrid scenarios bestie... he just is not there!! the superior spiderman is acting purely on that 'spiderman essence' but without the restraint of peter parkers compassion or otto octavius' logic.. its a little scarymode because its like unhinged strength and impulsive action, and of course backed up by intense emotion. Anyway that was very normal of me ! Onto MY BLORBO BUNGUS PETER PS4 PARKERR !!! Honestly my ver of him is pretty close to canon! A headcanon I do have tho for both the actual game and for my little au is that yknow at the end of the 2020 game miles is able to drink upside down and that shows him settling into being a fully fledged spiderman.. Maybe i should sleep, i haven't properly had anything close to sleep in 3 days (in more or less sobriety i mean my drink binges hardly even last for more than one day before i get tired of it, nicotine and weed is another thing tho) i tried to do things but i'm too disoriented to manage anything right. It's surprisingly rather not that impressive to deal with in real life given what background I came from. When my dad was doing these things he was like either just yelling at existence (incredibly funny things tho, that's exactly why I'm rather weirded out when people flinch for the content more than the chaotic delivery, it was about hm, absolutely everything in existence, my case was really not the center of his problems so he thrived that I was just not giving a fuck (anyone else sort of cry when they hear his shit, in my case I'm like "you did not pay attention then, you freaked out for absolutely hardly anything really" because unless you give the first punch he refuses to do so because things and stuff happens in life when you just beefcake (in his case it doesn't mean pretty boy but landing a decking you should only do in actual beefcake than just some people), and me, well, given the sature he probably would have just obliterated me with some little slappie. My mom had no issues lashing out whatsoever tho, but, no he could also have obliterated with some slappie and so could i so choices were made. He never gave a fuck about anything ever and life was peaceful when i had headphones on. But never ever will i marry a woman in my life ever. Like okay no. Yes i went to therapy for extreme misogyny since age 12 and it's not even a divorce. At least not my own.

Believe it or not but that's why I hate fandoms, my mom was exactly the kind of person who'd get delusional over tv shows (like with actual diagnostics and like, ok, it was rather grim ngl, like the worst people in life aren't always junkies, but yea she had to sort it out the hard way and still) the problem on my side of therapy is that my mom bullshit that was projected on me (because i was too critical of my own shit to begin with) was interpreted as "good coping" and I should acquaint with more people like "me", but...instead of making me spending on whatever plastic shit, it was more like a complete deficit. It is for so many people, let's be fucking honest. But the people bullying me at school found my coping fanfiction (because it wasn't exactly bullying but people being very amused by how i coped) and oof...everything is being made fun of here, I just diss and trash whatever i write about. It's not presentable unless you like weird assholes who can take shit because i was straight up sorting actual living people in metaphors and they were like "hey that's my bullshit last week 🥰thanks" but there was so many bullshit, some people were playing too hard. In order to get my mind off of the absolute drama of the state of the community right now, I’d like to write a treatise on the validity and loveliness of JunZhe / LLD; welcome to my TED talk. This will come in FOUR PARTS.

LONG POST AHEAD!---

Important note for new followers: welcome! This is all speculation/CPN (cp fiction), it's impossible to know for sure that these actors are together unless they willingly come out themselves. And considering the environment in c-ent and China, homosexuality isn't exactly welcomed, so there's that.

I only present my view and what I've gathered, and I try to maintain an accurate account of events even if that sacrifices it being fun to read, so be forewarned! My sudden zzh appreciation posts just pop out tho so I'm not perfect ok?

1. My initial skepticism about JunZhe/LLD:

Initially, after I finally believed that BJYX/YiZhan (Wang Yibo/Xiao Zhan) was real, I highly doubted that their story could be replicated again. If you are unfamiliar with their story, I recommend rainbowsky’s blog / accio-victuuri’s blog. Anyway, in the back of my mind I knew that lots of LGBTQIA+ people exist in the entertainment industry in every nation, and it must also be true in China as well. And people fall in love on set all the time, they get into their character, they find chemistry in each other, they get together, and that’s that. Well, I figured since it happened once already with WY/XZ, how likely was it to happen again in ANOTHER danmei adaptation so soon between the lead actors?

I also would like to note that I’m usually not in any overseas fandoms so the idea of CPF (couple fans) was completely foreign to me. I see that many people treat CPF’s as some kind of delusional fans who just want two men to boink? But the treatment of CPF’s by a lot of solos / general public seem very homophobic to me, as someone from a country whose LGBTQIA+ communities are allowed to exist and maybe even thrive (of course there are exceptions, etc). In my eyes, CPF’s are just ordinary fans who recognize when two people have quite a clear romantic connection. And in our case, I don’t even believe that we’re just CPF’s, that we’re fans who “ship” two people - I think we’re just fans who support a real couple.

1.5 Homophobia in entertainment and the hurdle same-sex couples must pass

People fall in love all the time on set. Straight or gay or queer people.

However, we do have homophobia in entertainment. Oftentimes heterosexual couples are assumed to be the default of any “normal” relationship (this is often coined as a part of "heteronormativity"). Thus, any interactions between a man and a woman are “naturally” seen as romantic, and normal, and thus accepted. And so the bar for a man and a woman to actually be seen as romantic and in a relationship is extremely low. They can brush elbows and give each other the side eye - and audiences would be gnawing at their bits shipping them, and no one would be doubting it.

(Ex) I will cite the famous “Brangelina” cp - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who both divorced their current partners to be with each other after meeting on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The tabloids were on fire with their relationship, in which they spent a lot of personal time together + appeared in each other’s space all the time. Sound familiar???? Everyone assumed they were together, honestly, I was a teenager at the time and even I knew lol. (Of course they ended up divorcing after like over a decade, but that’s an aside).

On their falling in love on set:

Del Prete[assistant director] remembers one night, after filming in the desert, Jolie and Pitt stuck around in lieu of returning to their hotel, built a campfire and spent the night in their trailers. "It was a little more than a working relationship," he added. "You don't really see those flirtatious type of things."

Gertz also noted an obvious friendship. "You definitely saw a back and forth ... just an easiness about people that have not spent a lot of time together," she said. "Or, you know, just an easiness when you have 150 people in the crew around you dissecting every part of the scene, and you still have a fun camaraderie, a banter, that you’re able to maintain."

^^^ All of these things are typical of people who fall in love - it happened to Brad Pitt/Angelina, Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, and here - Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan (do you know of the 'One Rainy Night' story? where they spent the night in ZZH's trailer?)

Here are 5 couples in C-ent who fell in love on set (heterosexual cp's), maybe their CP fans also got a lot of hate, I wasn't in the fandom at the time, so I wouldn't know. But it's readily accepted, and they actually announced their marriages after falling in love. A luxury our boys don't have.

1.51 - Queer Old Hollywood and Lavender Marriages

Because queer people didn't have the luxury of being out and proud, they had other means to shield themselves from retaliation and persecution, i.e. the lavender marriage.

Queer actors and actresses have existed since... acting began? If I were to go back, we can compare current c-ent to Old Hollywood (1920s-50s).

You may have heard of Hollywood's Hays Code, which outlawed any "sexual perversions" in motion pictures, in which homosexual relationships fell under. But did you know that the early 1920's actually were very accepting towards queer relationships? The "Pansy craze" swept the world, people were out and gay and dancing and dressing in drag, even straight people. The film Manslaughter (1922) was the first film to show a kiss between members of the same sex, and it was only in the 1930's when the code started to be enforced and homosexuality was forbidden. Universal Pictures actually put in provisions in actors' contracts, "morality clauses," that made sure they were straight! And if not, then they'd lose their livelihoods, so if anyone felt any gay feelings, they'd have to resort to other options. I.e. the Lavender Marriage. (This video is fantastic on this history)

A Lavender Marriage is a type of marriage where both partners are of the opposite sex, but are gay / lesbian. It's a marriage of convenience, meant to be a shallow shield against outside eyes, so each partner could pursue their own lives privately under the guise of already being in a heterosexual marriage. Many famous people were speculated to be in lavender marriages: Rudolph Valentino (who got married a few times and divorced his wives after a few years, and whose wives actually got married to him to hide their relationships with their girlfriends lol).

Judy Garland famously married Vincenti Minnelli, an openly gay man in New York. She later even advised her only daughter, Liza Minnelli, to marry gay men because they make the "best husbands." The fact that he was gay was an open secret! If you had any gay feelings, people in the business knew, and they were fine with it usually as long as you weren't too ~in your face~ about it, or too public with it.

Cary Grant also famously lived with his "roommate," Randolph Scott, for more than 10 years and cycled through 5 different wives. They had many many many pictures of them shown in fan magazines, promoting their "cp," their "best friends" and "bachelors" image.

Yes, the CP-branding does extend all the way back to Old Hollywood. They'd write about their favorite recipes, so women at home could practice those recipes in the hopes of marrying these men. Their studio knew of these photos, taken by a gay photographer, actually, and stressed that the photos not be too gay. Just enough. Anyway, even after all the CP promotion ended, they still stayed in touch and lived together.

Interestingly, Chinese people have a version of this called Tongqi (同妻) or " tongfu (同夫) is another neologism for men who have married lesbian women."

See how gay Old Hollywood was? And how queer current Hollywood is? Do you really think that it's that different to C-ent? Queer people exist everywhere, in all eras. And the fact that they were gay/bi/queer was an open secret.

1.52 Current C-ent is similar to Old Hollywood

As you may have seen, current c-ent is on a censorship mania. After WOH aired, rules were enacted to basically ban dangai dramas, or anything that's deemed too queer. We know that if it weren't for censorship, like the Hays Code, we'd probably have gotten a WenZhou sex scene / kiss scene / nude dual cultivation scene.

In terms of actors, there are also a few famous personalities in c-ent whose sexual orientations are open secrets (I can't say who bc ofc it's unconfirmed, but if everyone and their mom knew Rudolph Valentino, a famous and highly popular actor, was gay, then is it that farfetched to assume that people in the entertainment business also know? And that they don't really care, or are even happy for their friends/ colleagues?)

Even straight actors kept their relationships a secret and had CHILDREN (Andy Lau, HK). Maintaining image that you're single is important for keeping up a fanbase and fan-following, as c-ent and Old Hollywood have assumed. (It makes the whole JunZhe obviousness even better because clearly they know how many fans they stood to lose by being close, but they didn't care).

In addition to that, there are still lots of studios who take advantage of actors, young and old, and sign them without properly giving them backing or just working them to the bone for x amount of years (ZZH's old studio, where he sustained a knee injury and was encouraged to work anyway and permanently injured his knee / GJ and his first signings where he was scammed). (in the US, contracts can be broken at any time but the studio can still have a "sunset clause" where they'll receive x amt of royalties for a time).

Now that I've established that queer people exist, and how open secrets were a thing in Old Hollywood, and how current c-ent is similar to Old Hollywood in that queerness = bad, queers = exist, we can move onto JunZhe.

2. JunZhe and SHL/WOH

In the case of WOH/SHL, they went ALL OUT in showing how absolutely gay for each other Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing are. And in the BTS, these two are EVEN MORE in love than on-screen.

And in interviews and promotions, Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan both support each other so much, and are almost UNCOMFORTABLY in each other’s personal space. They are constantly touching, giggling at each other, looking at each other, sneaking a peak, smiling lovingly,

like - there’s a certain level of internalized homophobia (we all have it due to the world we live in, don't worry) that makes people deny that this could be anything but “bros” or “bromance.”

But when you apply these interactions to a man and a woman? If a man and a woman were to act in the same way that they do? One constantly holding onto things for the other (concert), instinctively reaching out for each other if one is falling (Happy camp), brushing each other’s hair away from their eyes (every second of WOH BTS), staring at the other’s lips while they talk (Ace Actress interview, WOH promotions), brushing shoulders in every interview (everywhere), casually holding onto one other’s waists while they cross paths in a cross-promotion (Tom Ford promo), just IMAGINE THAT. With a man and a woman, most wouldn't doubt that they’re something more than “friends.” I don't do these things with my friends. Like. AT LEAST, one must acknowledge that these two are flirting.

BUT SOMEHOW, when it comes to two men, or two women, they are dismissed as just “close friends,” or the dreaded - “roommates” stereotype lol. Now, the caveat is that it is detrimental to a person’s image in CN media to be out of the closet, so I understand if people deny them their love on that… but as I've said above, these aren't really secrets? Everyone in your industry knows that you're queer. And they're fine with it. They literally cannot go around blabbing everything because their careers are also on the line, and they don't want to make enemies. They just have to put on a façade according to the Code.

Why not just acknowledge that their actions are more than friends, respect what they show to the public and support them in that endeavor? Or at the very least, leave the CPF’s or fans who acknowledge their relationship alone - just cuz one couple is gay doesn’t make your world explode. It took a lot, like a LOT of evidence to get over my own internalized homophobia (even as a decidedly queer person), that these two men can’t be in love, they’re not allowed so it must just be friendship and closeness and then omg did they really say that to each other, and then why are they always touching each other, and etc etc down the pit I went lol.

3.The Significance of THE RING:

Normally, idols and stars in c-ent wear jewelry that they either 1) own themselves or 2) are sponsored to wear during red carpet / premieres / photoshoots etc. If they were still working and have a dedicated fanbase, they also would avoid wearing rings on their ring fingers. They have a vested interest in the obtainable ‘bachelor/bachelorette’ look, so that their solo fans can have the fantasy that they, one day, may be able to be with them and thus continue to support their idols with the $$$$$.

So it is quite rare for two seemingly single bachelors to start wearing rings on their ring fingers. And we know they were single because Ma-jie, the chief producer of WOH, specifically only chose single actors for the leads of Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu. I know all of this from other fandoms, and it’s just rational to assume that in order to continue your lucrative career in entertainment, and to cater to your solo fans, you must maintain the “available” facade. SO, BOY WAS I SURPRISED WHEN I SAW THOSE ENGAGEMENT RINGS.

Part Two: The Rings to Rule Them All (Queue'd for tomorrow, Apr 23, 2022)

As a sidenote, BJYX also has a lot of CPN (cp "fiction" or unconfirmed observations) revolving around rings. It's actually shown that XZ does wear a ring around his neck, whose outline can be seen in a lot of impromptu videos or photos. For more about them and their ring, check here. So yeah, rings are a thing. I mean, they're a thing for het couples, so why wouldn't they be for gay couples?
