VOR SHOES x ACAPULCO DESIGN Coop. THE STORY: The idea for a collaboration arises in the first Covid Lockdown 2020. On a children's playground. In a time of social distance, this is possibly one of the few places where conversations take place and ideas can be born. Between playing and screaming children, Andi from @vor.shoes and Benni from @acapulcodesign talk about a possible collaboration for the first time. The desire for socialization is very high in spring 2020. Likewise, the ambition to design something eclectic and joyful in these gray times. “Memphis” was founded in 1980 as a designer collective in Milan. The aim of the members was to shake up the current state of the design industry. They called it anti-design; launched a frontal attack on the doctrines of "form follows function" and "less is more": The Memphis group made the design world shrill for a few years, more playful, grotesque, happier. The perfect inspiration for Andi and Benni in these monotonous times. This particular shrill and joyful aesthetic, as well as the eclectic Memphis color scheme was incorporated into the shoe and the lounge furniture.
