I like how during the entire "Is it okay to kill evil digimon?" debate, Takeru and Hikari are just standing there silently. Meanwhile, Pegasmon and Nefertimon are actively attacking Golemon. And then Mimi is like "Does anyone know Ken's email? I'm gonna ask him to help kill this evil digimon"

Digmon Adventure 02 (Blind Watch) - Episode 25
This one was really fun! A Miyako/Mimi episode with good plot developments, especially with Ken's redemption. I think Miyako is growing on me. I feel like she's one of the more realistic characters in her imperfection. She acts like I would expect a 12 year old to. Her episodes are also a treat because we get to see Mimi and Palmon. What can I say? The less a character shows up the more hype I get when they finally appear.
Digimon introduced: Yukimi Botamon, Golemon, Aquilamon
Notes:
-Omg, Daisuke and Hikari looked so cute in their little lunchtime outfits <3 Sometimes I forget they're in elementary school until stuff like that happens. (Were they serve rice and peas? I feel like I've never seen rice and peas outside of an omurice context).
-It's cute how Daisuke is so supportive of Ken compared to everyone else. He's pretty simple-minded, so it would make sense that he's the least bothered and willing to let bygones be bygones.
-Not to be creepy, but Ken is definitely my type or woulda been when I was in middle school lol. I always went for the dark/pretty boys. It helps that he has a nice voice too.
-We see more of Miyako's family in this one. Just how many siblings does she have!?
-Those Yukimi Botamon were so cute, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? ;A; I want one! They look so squishy!
-What the HECK happened to Mimi's hair!? I guess she got some kind of perm but they drew it like they would draw a Black character's hair texture so it looks...odd. Good for her for experimenting I guess. I don't hate it.
-I was kind of surprised that Mimi was so ready to ask for Ken's help. I guess she hasn't been around for as many of the battles so maybe it's easier for her.
-I thought this episode did a good job of illustrating why killing digimon is a big deal for the kids, since in the past they've aimed at the dark spirals. Shoutout to @higuchimon for pointing this out to me too. Didn't see the "they aren't really digimon" twist coming, but that will make things a lot easier. I wonder if they were trying to use the kids' kindness against them, knowing that they wouldn't want to kill digimon?
-I tried googling where "Aquilamon's" name comes from and came up with nuttin' His design looks like a sports mascot that some redneck would have as a bumper sticker on their truck lol. Kinda weird that they gave him pecs...
-Miyako's email to Ken at the end their was so cute :) (Are they emails or text messages? Texts are called mail in Japanese, so it's a little confusing)

DIGIMON ADVENTURE: [2020 Reboot] ~ EPISODES 32~36 & EPISODE 37 + CHARACTER MOMENTS + SERIES REFERENCES ~ MIMI TACHIKAWA & TOGEMON & GOLEMON

Further original commentary under ‘read more’!
A golem, {in Jewish texts and Jewish folklore} is a clay creature that has been magically brought to life. The name comes from the Hebrew word “golem,” which means something incomplete or unfinished, like an embryo.
In popular legend, however, the golem became a kind of folk hero. Tales of mystical rabbis creating life from dust abounded, particularly in the Early Modern period, and inspired such tales as Frankenstein and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”  Sometimes the golem saves the Jewish community from persecution or death, enacting the kind of heroism or revenge unavailable to powerless Jews. Often, however, Jewish folktales about the golem tell what happens when things go awry — when the power of life-force goes astray, often with tragic results.
The classic narrative of the golem tells of how Rabbi Judah Loew of Prague (known as the Maharal; 1525-1609) creates a golem to defend the Jewish community from antisemitic attacks. But eventually, the golem grows fearsome and violent, and Rabbi Loew is forced to destroy it. (Legend tells that the golem remains in the attic of the Altneushul in Prague, ready to be reactivated if needed; this legend reappeared in Michael Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay). Likewise in Paul Wegener’s expressionist film The Golem (1920), the golem is a brutish creature whose powers are all-too-easily turned to destructive ends.
This is, of course, a perfect encapsulation of the same anxiety that underlies so much of the mystical speculation about demons, dybbuks, ghosts, and golems: The power of life is so strong, that it brings both promise and terror.

OPs commentary:
Before talking about in-depth or ‘reviewing’ this episode, I’d very much like if the fanbase could keep in mind not only the said folklore that blatantly inspired this Digimons’ design and canonical lores, but also be careful in their commentaries about this episode as a result.
They are a very specifically Jewish folklore, and within our storytelling tradition are pretty complex creatures created to protect, but with potential for destruction. Often golems are taken out of that context, by people who are not Jewish, to be used just as monsters.
For many folks that isn’t an issue, but for others (myself included) that feels a bit uncomfortable, as the (perhaps unintended) message can be seen as “creatures that protect Jewish people are really monsters.”
[Keeping this information] in mind and being AWARE of the history of the golem in our folklore will prevent issues relevant to handling this topic. {Especially if you are considering either commentating on the character itself, the story within the episode portrayed along with it, or using or referring to the character within future fanworks.}

Why isn't Mimi the leader again? Mimi is literally perfect, she is the definition of perfection. (Also we all agree that Komondomon deserves a break right?)
One; I wish the beginning was an entire episode, or just longer (it was so perfect). Adding on to that, I really loved the Holy Digimon's interactions with one and another and would love to get more, especially since we haven't gotten any yet between the two
Two; And Golemon can talk! That's like new in this series.
Three; And Mimi literally made a second kingdom (I want Tanemon to come back)
Four; 99, Mimi has 99 servents now.
Five; Komondomon literally fell asleep but he is still walking. That is true commitment
Six; Ok but Taichi and Sora's reaction, (especially Tai and Greymon) we're the best, I don't remember laughing this hard at any episode in this series so far.
Seven; Seriously though I don't think you can possibly disagree with me when I say that the few best/funniest scenes/episodes were by either Mimi or Joe (especially Mimi)
Eight; Gogmamon talks! (I will forever act excited when I hear a talking digimon in the anime)
Nine; Mimi was more concerned with the "Today" Than "Snack"
Ten; Dude that cruel, he ate Golemon and Mimi+Togemon's friends, the Gotsumon's don't deserve this. First Mytosimon and now Gogmamon
Eleven; I was disappointed that we didn't see Rosemon as a silhouette, but we did get Lillymon's new drill move (and this entire episode) and that makes up for it
Twelve; I swear we better see Golemon again. And it looks like Mimi's teams meets up with Koushiro's group (I am assuming, I saw Komondomon and...yeah that's it)

Digimon Adventure: 2020 – Episode 37: Mimi-chan Wars (Review)
Thoughts on the thirty-seventh episode of the Digimon Adventure reboot series.
This was a fun filler episode! But . . . still a filler episode. XD;
Sora: “Oh, Hikari-chan and Takeru-kun, make sure you two don’t go too far.” Mama Sora! We love to see it. :D
Patamon continues to be the cutest Digimon ever. <3 And his contrast with Tailmon is funny, lol.
A tree really broke because Taichi pushed it? Really? This kid is something else. :P Also, I have to say . . . what a lame way to split the group up again - even if it’s just temporary. ~_~
Mimi: “The wave of social issues have already reached this Digital World.” And the guttural noise she uttered, LOL. So passionate and feisty. She’s great!
Mimi: “I’ll never forgive them! . . . How could they hog a load of gemstones?!” LMAO. Oh, Mimi. Never change. (Also, for future reference, her grandfather is Genichiro Tachikawa - chairman of Tachikawa Heavy Industries.)
Taichi and Sora being called Mimi’s servants again - No. 72 and No. 73 - was nice. I’m surprised this writing staff actually remembered something from a past episode eons ago, with how things have been going for a while now . . .
I guess Komondomon falling asleep “at the wheel” is kind of funny . . . :P
LOL at Mimi just following the gems and creating a Plan B. Also, the way she runs is . . . XD;
Taichi was more likeable in this episode than he has been for a while, but I can’t help but miss how amazing his dynamic with Mimi is in the OG. I liked Michi there, but here . . . Taichi is still just too dull for me to care.
Gogmamon looks cool. I bet Mimi wishes she was made out of crystals, too. :D
Golemon lost his head/entire body . . . and his detached head still spoke, lol. Kind of weird for a kids’ show, but OK.
Mimi giving “her” diamond for Lillymon to use in her attack: “I have other things that are more precious!” Awww. How can you not love Mimi? She definitely has the most personality out of all the kids by far. And she’s caring to boot!
Sora came riding in Greymon’s arms and I remembered she was part of Taichi and Mimi’s “group” too, loool. Oh, Toei. Your treatment of Sora is forever abysmal.
Mimi: “Hey! The word ‘company’ has another meaning besides ‘workplace’! And that’s . . . ‘friends’!” Bless her. Watch out, Yamato, she’s coming for your Crest . . . wait, what’s Yamato’s Crest again? You can address this at any time, reboot. Go on. I dare you. :D :D :D
Next week’s episode preview: YA-FUCKING-MATO IN DA HOUSE!!! Finally. I’m so hyped! Yamato has been riding Garurumon for two months . . . only to find Jou at the end of his never-ending journey. How disappointing for him! XD;
All in all, this was just a fun filler episode. Mimi really shined. I’m glad she actually took up most (?) of the screen time and Taichi wasn’t shoehorned in for 90% of the episode. Though, the reboot did shove Koushirou, Takeru and Hikari to the side for this to happen . . . and took Sora “along” for the ride as well, but then also shoved her aside, LOL.
I’m not against filler, but I think this series really needs to focus on actual plot development as well. Every episode should matter. I love Mimi’s personality - but I’m sure they could’ve utilised it just as well in an episode that mattered. Still, this was fun! I enjoyed it more than the past several episodes, that’s for sure.

Episode 32 arrives! It’s, I gotta say, quite an improvement on what we’ve had lately. Quite an improvement. Even so, it’s nothing that’s gonna rock the world... but hey, I was so desperate for something different to happen that y’know what, I’ll take it.
Pic of the week:
Tumblr media
A Digimon who just wants to roll around in the grass. Go’way, baddies.
More below!
So as you probably gather... we start with Takeru this week! Haha! Good riddance Taichi! I luv ya but I’ve had enough of ya! Take a break!
jk I totally missed him the whole thirty seconds he wasn’t on screen
Tumblr media
Takeru and Patamon are running for their lives, of course! Patamon makes a valiant effort to evolve to protect Takeru but...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... Poor baby. He gave it the ol’ college try but he just ain’t as young as he used to be.
Tumblr media
Things look grim until Komondomon shows up with a creepy disembodied hand sticking out of his fur!
Tumblr media
Phew, it’s just Sora. Her brilliant plan to rescue Takeru is to grab his arm and drag him along with them... I mean... sure... Whiplash has been proven Not A Thing in this universe so...
Tumblr media
After getting rid of their pursuer, the group checks in with the others. I’m reminded of how silly separations feel when you can just communicate with each other by walkie-talkie. Yamato’s been riding Garurumon for a long time now lol. At least we got to see him...
He sweetly encourages Takeru and tells him the best thing he can do to help Patamon with his evolution issues is be there to support him. Then he tells Taichi “I leave Takeru in your case.” Ok sure, like Sora’s not right there...
Tumblr media
Taichi: In my care? Should I point out that I already lost one little sibling to the dark side? Nah...
Seriously, though... that’s the current situation. Taichi is actively going over SkullKnightmon to get Hikari back. If Takeru stays with him that just means Takeru gets to go into danger again too. Of course, it seems that the dark side is suddenly uninterested in Takeru and Patamon so... I guess it’s okay 9_9
Tumblr media
We then check in with Mimi! Who is being her awesome Mimi-tastic self. Ugh I love her.
Tumblr media
Wondered what happened to Golemon. Turns out there was nothing much to worry about because no one loves a macho boxing match like Tachikawa Mimi. If there’s ever a season where these kids grow up, I hope Mimi is like, a big fan of sumo or something.
Tumblr media
Taichi: O... kay... well... Mimi sure is... an intersting person...
Agumon: Hey you should make her your girlfriend!
Taichi: what nOOO BAD IDEA ABORT ABORT
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the situation with Jou is, um, questionable to say the least...
(how is keeping that towel on)
Tumblr media
Jou: HEEEEELP!!!
Taichi: ... you didn’t hear anything, did you? Me neither. *closes link*
Tumblr media
Finally we check in with Koushirou. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you what he says. -__-;
At least we see him get bombed a bit. He’s okay though.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile unconscious Patamon gets a visitor from baby angel Lopmon, who tells him about hist lost memories.
Tumblr media
He adds that the other legendary warriors have lost their power and it’s up to Patamon and his bond with Takeru to save the world more or less.
Tumblr media
He encourages Patamon to find his hope.
Tumblr media
Patamon: Who am I? What am I? All before me is dark. I know not what path to take.
Tumblr media
The others, having nothing better to do, peep on Patamon’s crisis of faith.
Tumblr media
Takeru relates a story about learning to swim and being scared of the water, but Yamato stayed with him so eventually he was able to learn to do it. Aww. Not quite comparable to Hikari’s “I wet the bed and Taichi changed the sheets and then told our parents that he was the one that did it” from the 99 series but still pretty good.
Tumblr media
The sweet moment is interrupted by a flash of light! Then dark! Then light! Then dark!
Tumblr media
It’s another scary Digimon! Oh dear. It’s Kerberomon. A three-headed Cerberus as I’m sure you figured out. Once again, this show does not how to convey what the stakes are. After everything we’ve been through, it’s hard to take random nobody Digimon as serious as each episode wants us to take them... but it’s obvious from the build up here that Kerberomon’s going to be tough to beat for Reasons.
Tumblr media
Greymon gets hit and says, “I let down my guard!” MAYBE DON’T DO THAT THEN
Tumblr media
Also it is very windy.
Tumblr media
Le ouch. This is the Digimon from earlier whose name I forgot to take down. He’s come back with his friend...
Tumblr media
... Scarier-in-the-dark-mon.
Tumblr media
They’re surrounded~ Oh noes and whatnot.
Tumblr media
Taichi is a bit cool here, clinging to Komondomon’s helmet and directing the battle like a war general. Mostly he’s telling them how to avoid getting hit by Kerberomon’s powerful attacks but I like that we get to see him using his head like this.
What I think is happening here is, Komondomon isn’t as fast as the kids could be if they were on their own, so their speed is hampered and that plus the number of assailants makes this battle tough. I am sure we’re supposed to assume that the reason WarGreymon doesn’t appear is because it takes a lot of energy to bring him out, even though last time he appeared twice in the same episode -.-;
Tumblr media
Sora decides to be useful and goes to help Takeru get to safety.
Tumblr media
... She is immediately struck by an attack and collapses, badly hurt somehow. This is so dumb. First of all, they don’t even animate her getting hit. There’s a flash and then she’s down. She should at least get to throw herself over Takeru protectively or something. Geez. 90s anime did it so much better. She’s just standing there and gets hit. What, did she forget there was a battle raging around her?
Second, WE ALREADY HAD DAMSEL IN DISTRESS SORA. It was Jou’s motivation to be cool way back when this show was rather more interesting than it has been of late. Why do the boys need Sora to get SERIOUSLY INJURED to be able to fight?? WHY?? Like, Taichi gets caught in the line of fire ALL THE TIME, but he never gets injured to the point where he can’t continue on. (Except for that one time with Devimon but those were exceptional circumstances!)
Like, why are we making Sora so weak?? This is so unnecessary.
Tumblr media
I guess Yamato was right by entrusting Takeru to Taichi instead of Sora though...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
... Uhhh.... never mind X’D
Tumblr media
Taichi: Whew... m-maybe no one saw that...
Tumblr media
Our be-bibbed god reappears to offer sage advice.
Tumblr media
Patamon recalls his final moments as Seraphimon... being enveloped into darkness.
Tumblr media
This is cool - we see his angelic wings turn to demon ones briefly before he slides back to lower levels. Not sure if it means anything but we have been theorizing that Patamon could still be infected by the evil that wounded him in the past.
Tumblr media
Patamon then recalls things that happened after he was reborn and I’m reminded for the billionth time how much harder the emotions around Angemon’s death hit in the 99 show...
Tumblr media
Suddenly Patamon realizes - his hope is Takeru, and he is Takeru’s hope.
Tumblr media
The boys put on their game faces. This is what I mean by Sora really didn’t need to get hurt here. I get that it gives Takeru a reason to be protective, but the thing that evolves Patamon is Patamon’s feelings, the same way Agumon’s feelings were what rescued them from Devimon etc. That’s an interesting thing about this show - the Digimon’s feelings seem as important to evolution as, if not more than, the kids’.
Tumblr media
Patamon evolves!! Very creepily! But... not to Angemon!
Tumblr media
He becomes Pegasusmon! Who... looks a lot bigger than I remember, even considering Takeru is very small... xD
So this is pretty cool! I’ve been wondering how on earth the show was gonna keep introducing evolutions after already using up so many key players, especially for Taichi. But it looks like Armor Digimon can appear, and that makes me think that we could see all kinds of evolutions for the entire team that we’ve never seen before. I like that idea, but I don’t really know if this show has time for it. Maybe it will just be Pegasusmon and Nefertimon who are available to Takeru and Hikari so the writers can preserve the angels for the most epic moments only. That seems the most likely way things will go here, and the only qualm I have with it is, they’ve played all of Taichi’s cards already, and he’s the main character. He has to have something else in the future...
Tumblr media
He attac!!!!
Tumblr media
Kerberomon doesn’t last long, although why is wholly inexplicable. What about Pegasusmon gives him the edge when MetalGreymon and Garudamon couldn’t handle it? Is it because he’s an Armor Digimon? That may be it but the show doesn’t bother to explain.
Another thing I’d love to see, if there are gonna be more than just one evolutionary tree for the partners, is the kids actually strategizing when they decide which evolution to use. One of the cool parts of Tamers was the kids actively supporting their partner with skill as well as heart. I don’t think that’s gonna happen in this season, but you know, a girl can dream.
Tumblr media
Takeru: Hurray for murder!
Tumblr media
The three Digimon work together to put the lid on Kerberomon. Garudamon has the coolest moment. Squash.
Tumblr media
Taichi checks on Sora who seems fine now. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
Tumblr media
Aw, but these two really are adorable.
Tumblr media
What a sweet ending card T_T I want more of these.
Okay so yeah, this episode was a much needed upper after the stream of “watch Taichi fight random forgettable monsters” episodes we’ve had lately. I’m glad we got it. I still, just, like, why can’t they get the emotional build up right?? I wouldn’t say 99 Adventure did anything insanely unusual in how it treated the various crises the kids faced, but it def did a better job than this show. In 99, they understood the importance of moments of reflection, of talking about things, of showing expressions and how other characters react... And I still feel like this reboot DID do that, at least somewhat better, in the beginning. Like what went down between Yamato and Taichi after Ogremon was killed. That was pretty good.
They’ve totally lost what makes Digimon great. I hope this episode is a sign that they’re gonna take it back, but, my heart just hearts y’all.
Next episode... I’m rather surprised since we are REALLY overdue some face time with Yamato, not to mention Mimi and Jou, but apparently we’re sticking with Taichi. At least it looks lke we’ll get some new plot stuff related to Hikari.
Tumblr media
If this all leads up to something that makes sense, I will retract all my complaints, I swear. Except about the gratuitous nonstop fighting. But the rest, I will take back.
Tumblr media
Taichi’s determined!! This is Digimon Adventure! Let’s go on a freaking adventure!!

Digimon Adventure Reboot Episode 37
Anyone else watch half the episode using grade nine french before crunchy got the english up?  Just me?
-        Tailmon being serious and Patamon just wanting to play is a pretty good summation of their differences.
-        What could be worse than one kid trapped grasping a log and floating away?  Sora knows the answer.  It’s two children grasping a log and floating away
-        “Hasn’t this happened before?”.  C’mon guys that was like eight months ago.
-        SJW Mimi Tachikawa
-        Of course they give the rocks completely extra names, it sells better.
-        “The fierce exchange of fists…lasting days.” That really did take days in universe, did it?
-        If only all misunderstanding could be solved with violence
-        “he’s a wicked enslaving boss, and worse, he’s hoarding gemstones”
-        I’m trying to remember, does Mimi show any of this leadership when she’s with the others?  Or only here and in ep 6
-        Like I understand her not doing it on the bench, with computer stuff she doesn’t know, but these episodes she’s completely take-charge in the way Jou can only hope for, and I…don’t really remember it being a thing elsewise?
-        No 99 lol
-        Being both queen and CEO feels like a good flavor bit if you remember she’s 10.
-        I am so happy they included the “talk on digivice” scene.  Yes, please give the eight-year-olds and the socially awkward kid an explanation for having ditched them.
-        Like any good boss, Mimi knows how to delegate.
-        Taichi last episode: “we’ll wing it and see what happens, oh, all up to you kou”
-        Taichi this episode: “You have a Plan B?  I’m worried.”
-        Mimi considers being beaten up a bonus, I suddenly concerned her grandfather is not the paragon of worker’s rights that we were first led to believe.
-        Mimi: “it’s all mine” Gogmamon: “it’s all mine actually”.  Mimi: “Now it breaks the law”
-        Now I may not be the most successful businessman out there, but I feel like eating your workers will lower overall production.
-        ‘tis but a flesh wound
-        This really just comes down to Mimi declaring everything hers, huh.
-        The whole “it’s your precious diamond” thing doesn’t really land for me, especially because there’s, more, just kinda around.
-        Employee’s are friends, not food.
-        They say Golemon is acting president, but what kind of business is this, like how do they make money?  Is money a thing?
-        Right at the end we see goodboymon, so does that mean they reunited offscreen?
-        I recall seeing praise for Angewomon’s encyclopedia not being thirsty, those same people are going to scold this segment for being thirsty, right?  Right?
-        (next time on encyclopedia is Takeru’s pet turtle.)
-        “The blazing blue friendship” well that can’t be Metalgarurumon, he’s cold not hot.  Maybe they just mean Jou.

Review: Digimon Adventure: (2020) Episode 32: Soaring Hope
Tumblr media
In this episode, the team struggles against the Digimon Takuya beat singlehandedly in episode one of Frontier, so they call in the Digimon Takeru got saddled with in episode three of Zero Two.
It’s too early to say the show is finding its legs again, but there are encouraging signs from every angle. It’s a rare time when a new evolution feels earned after we get time to get inside a character’s head. One of the kids is actually hit by an attack, in a way that even impacts the fight. Circumstances prevent Taichi from dominating the spotlight, useful as he continues to contribute nothing of value to the show. And there’s a new evolution mechanic that holds a lot of storytelling potential if it can be utilized the right way. That’s a big if, especially as evolution mechanics continue to be frustratingly vague. For all the good things offered here, there are just as many signs that the show still doesn’t know what it’s doing.
After all the time we’ve spent gnashing our teeth at the lack of any sort of character depth, of course the one to stand up and demonstrate how it’s done is Patamon. He’s been struggling ever since the DarkKnightmon fight, with only Komondomon’s intervention saving him and Takeru from Fangmon’s attack. The resulting feeling of inadequacy is explored beautifully as Lopmon reaches his subconscious. While meant to be encouraging, the reminder of everything he’s been through in the past only builds up that feeling of helplessness. This is a Digimon who has been through everything and given up so much, only to be stuck in a fragile body, unable to step up when everything’s going to hell again. As far as the Digimon themselves, this sort of depth is right up there with the main players of Xros Wars. As far as characters in this series, it’s near the top with that alone.
We even get signs of life from Takeru! He’s been an empty shell since his arrival, but he supports his partner in a more meaningful, more revealing way than we’re used to. He ties in a story from his past and his appreciation for Yamato’s patience through a struggle, extending that same kindness to Patamon. It doesn’t tell us much, but he’s opening himself up, something the other kids have been hesitant to do. It’s also a reversal from the usual norm of the Digimon supporting the children. Perhaps we should be treating the Digimon partners as the true main characters of this show, with the children resigned to blunt accessories. It’s a terrible waste of the Adventure kids, but building on the Xros Wars route and turning the partners into genuine featured characters would be an intriguing path if explored evenly and consistently.
The action is transparently tailored to let Patamon be the star, but all the contrivances in the world are worth it to take the spotlight away from Taichi. For the second time in the series, Sora is not granted the same immunity from damage Taichi and Yamato receive, laid up after a nasty hit. The nature of the chase jostles Taichi, MetalGreymon, and Garudamon out of position. Patamon and Takeru defiantly protect Sora, stirring something within Patamon to rise to the occasion and remember the fight that’s always been with him. It’s not a revolutionary kind of growth, but it’s effective and told well and we’re cheering for Patamon as he evolves to… Pegusmon??
It’s a head-scratcher, but it’s too early to say whether it’s the “intriguing twist in mechanics to be explored later” kind or the “hey, just for fun, let’s do this one instead” kind. Lopmon suggests that all the collective battles has shut down Angemon for good, but there’s no good justification for why Angemon was available before fighting DarkKnightmon but not after. There better be more going on here than just bad timing. If it’s something we aren’t fully aware of yet, using Pegusmon in his traditional role of evolutionary detour makes perfect sense. If not, this is blatant pandering to Zero Two fans and another bullet point on why this season is shamelessly bad.
We’re stuck waiting on two factors to really assess the idea of alternate evolution and the show’s commitment to it. One is when and how Angemon appears again, because he obviously will. If something beyond Patamon’s control is blocking evolution and something, likely involving DarkKnightmon, needs to be unlocked, that’s a good sign. Further validating the idea is if other Digimon have to resort to alternate evolutions at some point. If Angemon is blocked, could that be why Tailmon hasn’t appeared yet? There’s certainly a number of alternate forms her path can take. When thought out well and applied consistently, it’s a refreshing mechanic that could define a system that thus far refuses to show its work. But given how it hasn’t, we’re past the point of letting signs of promise in one episode generate too much hope.
My Grade: B+
Loose Data:
Komondomon was shown with a big enough saddle that we never considered that he could be another Digimon you could go inside. They really love those this season. Have to wonder how that works that Sora can just stick her hand out of his fur from inside.
While Takeru gets rounded a little more, they’re doing everything in their power to neuter anything interesting about Yamato. The kid who refused to work with or for others is now shown to be a supportive big brother who has no problem entrusting Takeru to Taichi’s care. So boring.
Taichi suddenly asking about the others is a terribly awkward segue, but it’s no surprise that Mimi’s in a far more interesting predicament than they are. We’d say we want to know more about this Golemon-Togemon fight, but Joe’s suddenly got a lot less interesting now that there’s actually a clear threat.
Koshiro actually seems upset that somebody other than him found out about the ISS situation. The prospect of misinformation doesn’t help anyone, but he really seems to think it would be better if he and he alone dealt with the crisis in secret. What an ass.
It’s laughably evident that the writers forget that the kids ride their Digimon into battle at every opportunity. Pegusmon goes into a spinning attack with Takeru on board and it’s never brought up.
To everyone’s relief, Pegusmon is treated appropriately given his apparent level. He’s permitted his standard debut evolution bonus, of course, but he’s only enough to hold off Cerberumon long enough for the much stronger MetalGreymon and Garudamon to get back in the fight. They even let him get off the final shot to save face!

This episode wasn’t as good as the previous two but okay
Episode preview!
Nothing interesting except but Garbemon (long time no see!) and Raremon! (Last seen in Xros Wars but was redesigned, so fun to see the original design back!)
Yeah so, out of these five episodes I did enjoy 3 a lot but, yeah, the filler isn’t particularly thrilling or anything. But I had fun! And as per my previous post concerning episode 43 spoilers, while I’m not particularly excited about the next episode, I SURE AS FUCK AM FOR EPISODE 43
So I’ll see y’all either next week or two weeks from now (I might not be excited enough to watch episode 42 right when it becomes available so I might wait until 43)

Patamon is still too tired to digivole while Fangmon try to attack them. The other kids are dealing with their own thing before they can be found.

Pegasusmon, because he's the Digimon of the week!
One; I'm just gonna assume that they saw Takeru and Patamon getting chased by a Fangmon and Sora didn't just like being hidden in Komondomon's fur for whatever reason
Two; lol Patamon is dead
Three; and how is Joe not dead, I mean he is being swung around by a Blossomon upside down, why does he have the worse luck?
Four; and while Joe is on that position, Mimi over here is having the time of her life with a bunch of Gotsumon watching a boxing match between Togemon and Golemon. And this isn't a "hey I want to eat you" battle this is solely just for fun
Five; at this point I'm not even listening to what ever Koushiro has to say about the real world, it's really always the same thing
Six; and Patamon is dreaming about angles, which means Lopmon. I'm happy to see Lopmon again and wondering can she sense Patamon's dismay? It does seem to be revealed that Lopmon isn't the Holy Digimon alongside Patamon and Tailmon
Seven; "who is it? No I know who it is, I just can't remember" You'll remember buddy! You both were a Celestial Angle! Also Lopmon patting Patamon is cute
Eight; Patamon voice is so cute ಥ‿ಥ
Nine; "the light of hope to brighten the world" I hope that sentence will be more relevant later on since you know, it's the little ones crest and their partnered to the holy digimon
Ten; while Takeru tells Patamon that flying is like swimming and he'll stay by his side (which is such a cute moment) the others just watches intensely
Eleven; oh, so now they get affected and hurt by explosions and they were able to stay on their Digimon while they were being thrown around by a bigger stronger digimon
Twelve; so Seraphimon got sunk into the maisma after the war and got corrupted into ShadowSeraphimon but then he remembered Takeru and got purified but devolved into Angemon. Now we really needs a couple of flashback episode during and after, maybe even before, the war
Thirteen; and Pegasusmon! Aesthetically, Pegasusmon does make more sense for Patamon to evolve to than Angemon, but I like Angemon better (as you can clearly tell) but this does make me worried that we wont see Angemon for a while, especially since we are already half way through the series and he still have his ultimate and mega form to evolve into
Fourteen; how did Takeru not throw up, or fall off? Pegasusmon literally went upside down dodging attacks and done a dozen front flips has a attack. And I am also disappointed that Garudamon and MetalGreymon helped him finish him off, like I know it's only one attack but I wanted to see his wing shooting star attack
Fifteen; haha Sora and Taichi looks like a married couple
Tumblr media
Sixteen; the next episode is called "Hikari of Dawn" and I thought this was supposed to be called "Light for Dawn" which got me thinking, did they mistaken Light for Hikari? Since you know Hikari is Light in Japanese
I am hoping my SkullKnightmon is Tailmon theory is right, and I think the next episode will prove if it is or not (or if it's DarkMaildramon who is Tailmon). Hikari looks pretty creepy in the preview (rewatching the preview now and I'm exaggerating) and the full translated preview did say that Hikari gets absorbed into SkullKnightmon (yes, you heard me right, absorbed) and Taichi tries to grab her hand but she pulls away and willingly absorbs into SkullKnightmon, which makes my theory more plausible
