The days Zoe loved Marinette
In "Adoration", Zoe reveals to Marinette she had been secretly in love with her since the day they met. Marinette might have felt surprised to learn that she was the ninth grader Zoe was in love with all along, but it wasn’t long before Marinette's moment of surprise quickly turned to realization as she thought back to the time they shared together and realized it was obvious from the start that Zoe was in love with her, it’s just that no one thought to take notice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aside from Andre, no one else knew Zoe was in love with Marinette, but looking back, a lot of things that happened around Zoe in past episodes, make a lot more sense now.
Zoe met Marinette the day she arrived to Paris in "Sole Crusher," and at the time, no one knew who she was, making it all the more pleasant for Zoe as it was a brief window of opportunity to show her real personality, before having to hide it to fit the standards of the Bourgeois. Meeting Marinette was a complete contrast to what Zoe normally experienced, but was overall a moment Zoe felt she could genuinely just talk to someone without fearing the consequences that would come from allowing herself to be vulnerable enough to act more like herself.
Obviously Chloe did not hesitate to judge Zoe the moment they met, even threatening to send her back to New York if she didn't fit the family standards, while Audrey in turn saw nothing wrong in Chloe's methods and was more than willing to agree with Chloe for the same reasons. But with Marinette, everything was different. Marinette didn't judge Zoe, she looked at her with honest eyes and noticed she had her unique qualities, but also her share of struggles, all things Chloe and Audrey were quick to reject and ignore, from the unique shoes on her feet, to the way she hinted about her life in New York being anything but happy. Marinette listened to Zoe, she wanted to understand her, and despite not knowing much about her, there she was ready and willing to not only gift Zoe pastries as a way of welcoming her to Paris, but to also ensure the two of them would keep in touch by exchanging numbers.
Marinette gave Zoe her number on a box of macaroons, but it was her heart felt attempts to keep Zoe's number as close to her as possible, on the palm of her hand, that truly made Zoe realize Marinette was a kind and considerate person who wanted to befriend her, rather than expect her to be a certain way in order to obtain that friendship. But in actuality, this little moment always had more to it than the start of a friendship, it was the start of something more. Not long after Zoe wrote her phone number on Marinette's palm, Zoe BLUSHES, hinting she was not only falling for Marinette the moment they met, but that this new love she felt would grow the more Marinette reached out to her and saw through her attempts to fit in with her family, understanding there was something holding het back from being who she truly wanted to be.
(In "Sole Crusher", Zoe blushed at Marinette, revealing the beginning of her love towards Marinette.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(In Sole Crusher, after Zoe arrived at the Collège Françoise Dupont and felt compelled to insult Marinette to please Chloe, it was Marinette, the one girl who actually got to know her, who understood something was wrong and who was unwilling to push her away without hearing her out.)
Tumblr media
Although Zoe believed she had no other choice but to accept the same fate Andre had, as he too accepted long ago that he would need to abandon his dreams and much of who he was so he could shape himself to fit the standards of the Bourgeois family, it was Marinette who once again tried to reach out to her and told her what she was too afraid to tell herself, that no matter the consequences she feared, she always had a choice to just be herself.
After Zoe was akumatized into Sole Crusher, Shadowmoth pointed out that Zoe was weakening the more she listened to Marinette's words, and of course she did, this one girl(Marinette) whom she had fallen in love with, knew exactly how she was feeling, how frustrated she was to have to hide herself from others and constantly put on a show to pretend her life was fine. And of course Marinette understood how Zoe felt as well as the life Zoe was living, because she too was living that very struggle everyday of her life as Ladybug, and had already known all too well what it was like to have to live a life where she was controlled and judged by Chloe, who expected her to fit the role she had made for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Back in "Heart Hunter", Marinette opened up about her frustrations, one of which was being unable to just be herself, of always having to pretend she was fine for fear of the consequences.)
Tumblr media
Marinette didn't want Zoe to live with the same lonely struggle she had, to constantly hide from others, which is why she was so determined to reach Zoe/Sole Crusher and tell her she didn't have to hide her true self while in Paris.
Marinette did say there would always be someone there to help Zoe up when she is down, if she took that chance to open up to people who actually cared about others, and at the very least, Zoe could place her faith in knowing that someone like Marinette, who never gave up on trying to reach out to her, really would always be there for her, and she was, from the very moment they met.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the end of "Sole Crusher'', when Zoe shared the macaroons Marinette gifted her with everyone at Anarka's boat, who welcomed her with open arms, there was a subtle moment where Zoe's eye's remained focused on Marinette, that look was not just out of friendship, it was out of love for the girl who gave her the life she never thought she could have.
Tumblr media
We even see Nino pointing to a rainbow on the title screen as Zoe happily stood beside him, a hint that Zoe was LGBTQ+. Zoe loved Marinette the day they met, but there was just one problem, it was entirely one sided as Marinette was already in love with Adrien.
Tumblr media
Back in "Transmission", when Zoe found out that Marinette was struggling with her love life, she did not hesitate to reach out to her to help. Of course, the situation surrounding Marinette and Adrien's love life was no easy matter to sort through and understand on account of their secret lives as heroes, but out of everyone in their social circle, it was Zoe who said she knew perfectly well just how complicated love can be. She knew because she was secretly facing a complicated love of her own, towards Marinette, that entire time.
Tumblr media
And sure, Zoe still had her issues with her family to sort through, but it was precisely her love for Marinette that eventually helped her find the courage she always had to stand up to all of them, and learn to not let their threats continue to control her.
To be the one whom her family mistreated was one thing, but to watch her family mistreat the girl she loved was not something she could bare to stand and watch, which is why in "Deflagration", Zoe took any fear and doubt she had over facing Chloe, and threw it straight out the window, refusing to stand by any longer as Chloe attempted to humiliate Marinette during her special lunch with Adrien. Chloe's threats might have proven effective in the past to make Zoe grovel for forgiveness, but in that moment, Zoe could care less, she’d rather get sent back to New York than have to stand by and watch the girl she loved cry.
Tumblr media
(In Transmission", Zoe found the courage to stand up to Chloe for Marinette's sake, and even though she quickly realized she may have to face severe consequences for it later, to see Marinette smile happily at her, thanking her for what she did, made it feel it was all worth while if it meant she helped the girl she loved.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As tough as it must have been watching Marinette fall head over heels for Adrien, even helping in any plans to help her get closer to him, the one thing Zoe had that likely eased her heartache, was knowing that Marinette was still part of her life and had found happiness with someone who loved her just as much as she did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In "Adoration", Zoe saw picture after picture of Adrien that Marinette owned, she saw Marinette's constant flustering and embarrassment towards him, her little sketches, her writings and talks about what their future together would be like, Zoe watched it all, and even though she knew every action and every word that came out of Marinette was for someone else, Zoe never reacted negatively towards it, instead, she smiled, smiled at how all those things made Marinette happy and larger than life. At the end of "Adoration", Zoe said she felt there was no point in telling Marinette she loved her if she was already in love with someone else, that doing so would only change, or even ruin, things between them, but thankfully, Marinette thought otherwise
In many ways, Marinette knew the kind of heartache Zoe felt, because she faced the same thing in the season 3 finale, when she tried to give up on telling Adrien she loved him and instead watched him drift towards Kagami, someone she thought Adrien loved and would love him just as much as she did in return.
Yeah, Marinette's situation with Adrien wound up working out as she realized he always loved her, but had she been in the same position Zoe was in, then she would have wanted to take the chance to tell the person she loved how she felt if they were willing to give her that chance, to finally have that weight lifted from her shoulders and allow her to move on with her life, and that is exactly what she gave Zoe, a chance in knowing the person she loved would be willing to listen to her confession.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the end of "Adoration", Marinette gave Zoe the chance to speak her feelings, and despite Zoe's fears over what could have changed between them as friends in the process, thankfully, nothing did. If anything, the only change that did occur between them, was added respect towards one another in knowing they had both grown as people. Marinette never made any elaborate plans when she thought Zoe was in love with Adrien, and Zoe never broke the boundaries of their friendship to try and make Marinette fall in love with her. The two of them never lost sight of each other and accepted they both needed to be considerate of one another and be clear on how they felt. Marinette couldn’t reciprocate Zoe’s feelings, but this didn’t change the fact that she still loved her just as much as any other good person in her life, she loved everything Zoe did to make her feel better and appreciated everything Zoe did to look out for her in her most dire of times, such as when Chloe blamed her for stealing. Instead of ignoring Zoe’s confession, Marinette chose to acknowledge Zoe's feelings, giving her a proper rejection.
(Despite not feeling romantically drawn to Zoe, Marinette was still flattered by someone as wonderful as Zoe would fall in love with her.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zoe was always aware her love towards Marinette was entirely one sided, and even though she knew a romantic future with Marinette would never be possible, to know that Marinette valued her so much and thought so highly of her, meant more to her than anything, giving her the peace she never knew she wanted, and the confidence she needed to keep being that amazing girl Marinette said anyone would be honored to be loved by.

J, N, and T for the fandom asks :)
J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Tumblr is actually how I got into MLB! One of my mutuals (might have been you actually) reblogged a lot of gifs so I checked it out and fell in love. On the other hand, Tumblr is also how I learned of Supernatural, of which I have seen one episode (the Scooby Doo crossover) and avoid the fans like a dragon avoids eels.
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
Let’s go with Les Mis...
I wish there was more Marisette fan content that didn’t just write them off as the vanilla token straights. They’re the only healthy canon pairing and they’re adorable!
More awareness of what a lot of portrayals imply. Writing Grantaire and Éponine (who are in canon the ugly poor characters, one of whom has a drinking problem and the other is a prostitute) as poc while writing Cosette and Enjolras (the specifically stated to be gorgeous characters) as white is... not great for what it implies.
ohmygosh more Bossuet, Courf, Grantaire and Marius friendship! The disaster BroTP... it’s canon but gets no attention :( I think I’ve seen one post about them ever that wasn’t brick analysis.
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
SO MANY OMG
trans Feuilly and Joly (Les Mis)
autistic Luka (MLB)
ADHD Marinette (MLB)
bisexual Snotlout (HTTYD)
asexual Tuffnut (HTTYD)
bisexual Courtney who has an anxiety disorder (TDI)
Katie and Sadie are lesbians and they’re in LOVE (TDI)
Nemma was a publicity stunt, Noah is gay (TDRR)
everyone in Les Mis is bi/pan except for Valjean and Javert (ace-aro), Enjolras and Combeferre (gay-demiromantic), Azelma (lesbian), the Thénardiers and Tholomyes (the only straights)
Long-haired Enjolras (Les Mis)
many, many more that have, unfortunately, escaped me for the moment.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING!!! <3<3<3

Wow, I did not expect you to answer my question about the Evan actor interpretations so fast! Thank you so much! You said that you could do an analysis on the actor's interpretation on Evan as a character, so I was wondering if you would be willing to do that? I'm going to New York in a few weeks (planning on seeing MLB in DEH) and I am really excited to see DEH for the first time ever!
You’re so welcome! And that’s super exciting! Seeing DEH in person is so powerful, in a way that bootlegs just can’t capture. You’re gonna love it!
And, as requested, here’s some character interpretations :D
Michael Lee Brown - As I said before, MLB’s Evan is definitely on the autism spectrum. But, he doesn’t know it. His official diagnosis seems to be anxiety, and that’s what he’s running with. But the social anxiety is a direct response to people’s actual reactions to him, not a fear of what might happen. He doesn’t really understand social norms, and the way he talks and acts seems different to others. He’s had negative experiences with people, many times before. When Zoe calls him weird and he says “I know,” it feels like an exchange that has happened a lot. Especially with a friend like Jared, who breaks apart everything he says and does, he is extremely aware of the fact that, try as he might, he doesn’t always know how to act. And all the therapy and anxiety medication isn’t helping him much, either, because neither of them are addressing the actual cause of his struggles. Because of that, he feels broken. He avoids talking to people out of fear that he’ll get it wrong, and he has this desperate need to keep everyone around him happy all the time. His worst fear is people being mad at him, and that’s a big thing that pushes him through his every decision. It’s what makes him keep the lie going, it’s what makes him send Alana the note, and noticeably, it’s what gets him to admit the reason he broke his arm. With other Evans, Mike and Alex were gentler in that scene, coaxing the truth out of him, but when it’s MLB, they both yell at him. He doesn’t like big shows of emotion, in general. Seeing Cynthia cry is almost as painful for him as being yelled at. I think his Evan is in the unfortunate situation where he’s extremely empathetic, but struggles to process and deal with emotions. As for his relationships, he sees through some of Jared’s bullshit but does believe that he doesn’t actually want to be friends. He loves his mom, but doesn’t entirely trust her. He thinks she wants to “fix” him, and resents that enough to push her away. His crush on Zoe borders on a special interest. He knows every little detail about her, and I think it’s a compulsion at this point to learn more and more. Cynthia and Larry definitely become his surrogate parents, to the point that he forgets about Connor every so often, but whenever he’s reminded of him, he looks devastated for them. Especially for Larry. Also, I don’t remember if the others do this, but he has a bit of a freudian slip during “To Break In A Glove.” Instead of immediately saying “Connor was really lucky to have a dad who cares so much about taking care of stuff,” he just says “Connor was really lucky to have a dad.” He quickly catches himself and adds the rest, but he makes that a noticeable moment.
Colton Ryan - The first word that comes to mind with Colton’s Evan is fear. He’s a very frightened kid. Where you feel like MLB’s Evan has had a lot of negative social experience, Colton’s Evan seems to just overthink everything. His mind jumps to the worst possible outcome of every situation, and he constantly does damage control for something that may never need it. He and his mom have a better relationship in the beginning, and it only falls apart once he becomes close with the Murphys. It’s like he doesn’t notice the flaws in their relationship until he experiences a different one. The things he says when they’re fighting come across as true, but they seem to have popped into his mind in the moment, rather than being something he’s wanted to say for a long time. The biggest thing he needs is a supportive figure in his life, and that’s what the Murphys provide. He needs reassurance that he’s doing a good job. He’s a really smart, nice kid with extreme self-esteem issues. Once he gains confidence, he thrives. His crush on Zoe feels more like a typical high school crush than an obsession, and their relationship is actually pretty sweet. (Colton is the only Evan who had believable chemistry with Laura Dreyfuss, in my opinion.) In the scene before Only Us, you really feel like you’re just watching two teenagers talking to each other. But, the loss of that relationship doesn’t feel so important because most high school relationships end, and that’s exactly what they feel like. A high school relationship. Fun, but ultimately temporary. He and Jared work off of each other really well, and you feel like they’ll actually make up after the end of the show. From the start, Evan’s very aware of his bullshit, and he’s just as sarcastic back to him. Even though Jared is probably one of the biggest things tearing his confidence down, he’s also one of the only people he’s comfortable with, in the beginning. They’re both relaxed around each other, and it’s the thrill of the Connor Project that pulls him away, not a genuine belief that Jared doesn’t care if they’re friends or not.
Taylor Trensch - Where Colton is frightened and MLB is awkward, Taylor is bubbly. He is the smiliest Evan, always cheerful and thinking of the positives. You sometimes get a glimpse into the idea that it’s an act, but a lot of the time, it seems genuine. He doesn’t seem to realize that Jared’s comments are mean-spirited, or that Connor signed his name in awkwardly large letters, and he seems genuinely grateful for both. Zoe seems to intimidate him way more than Connor does (and maybe that’s what he likes about her.) Taylor’s Evan is a double-sided coin. He’s the most outwardly friendly of the Evans I’ve seen, but also the most selfish. He almost seems to be manipulating the situation with the Murphys from the beginning. The fact that Taylor plays down the anxiety so much makes his actions feel more like calculated plans than split-second decisions. Once For Forever has happened, he is all in on making the lie as convincing as possible. He seems blissfully unaware of a lot of things, dismissing Jared in Act 2 with the same big smile and cheerful tone he always has. He’s shocked whenever anyone’s mad at him, like it never crossed his mind that he wasn’t being nice. He’s also the most in denial of how he broke his arm. He’s sobbing by the end of that scene, and still doesn’t seem to have accepted it. When he tries to tell Heidi about it later, he breaks down sobbing again. This Evan is more immature than the others, and either knows exactly what he’s doing or has greatly misinterpreted what he’s doing. He’s a master at convincing himself of things that aren’t true, and it makes sense that he does the same to other people.
Roman Banks - Roman is a very shy Evan. Much like Colton, he tries to make himself as small and unnoticeable as possible. He’s a genuinely sweet kid, but he really doesn’t know where he fits in. And, I think his father leaving has had the biggest impact on Roman’s Evan. If I really wanted to overanalyze things, the fact that Heidi is white and Evan isn’t adds another emotional level to that plotline. He’s missing an important figure in his life and is constantly trying to fill that void. He’s also very much a kid. He hasn’t been exposed to a lot of the world’s problems, and when he’s thrown into the spotlight, he doesn’t seem to know what to do with it. He has a desperate need to keep people from worrying about him, so he puts on a very thin mask that a lot of people don’t see through. His mom, especially, takes everything he says and does at face value, when he wishes she would look harder. With the Murphys, he feels like it’s a little safer to not be completely okay all the time, because they aren’t either. They’re grieving their child, and they are able to provide each other mutual comfort. He helps to fill the void, and they let him be a little more vulnerable. He and Zoe together are just cute. They’re kids who are smitten with each other and have no idea what to do with those feelings, and it’s kind of adorable. Roman and Mallory work together really well, and seem like genuine friends irl. He doesn’t put her on as much of a pedestal as the other Evans sometimes do. He just really, really likes her. He’s a little more awkward around Larry, because he’s not really sure what to do with a father figure. But, when he takes a moment to open up to him, there’s finally a moment of real bonding, and from that point, Larry is constantly gently reassuring him. When the truth comes out, where it usually hits hardest that things with Cynthia or Zoe have been broken, Roman’s Evan losing his bond with Larry is what stands out the most. There’s a sort of relief during the scene before So Big/So Small, because finally, for the first time, he’s vulnerable with Heidi, and she accepts him. You can see the weight that’s lifted from his shoulders, and his improvement by the orchard scene feels like it was largely because of that freedom to be open with his mom.

Changes That Madden Needs to Make to Fix its Franchise Mode
#FixMaddenFranchise has been trending since last week on Twitter and for the last several years in the fans’ minds. The NFL is the most popular sporting league in America, and people take anything to do with the prestigious association, very seriously. So, it isn’t surprising when amidst a global pandemic, racially unstable society, and the highest unemployment rate in ‘forever,’ we are concerned about fixing a video game.
Tumblr media
Dark jokes apart, it is high time that the makers of this game take things seriously. After 2013, and fans concur on this, the game has been a below-average effort on the developers’ part. It is like they wait until the very last day to work on it and then do the most basic job possible to clear sales and increase profits. Although, it might be becoming counter-intuitive since the rebellion has started among fans, and they aren’t happy at all.
A “new version” is out, and fans aren’t buying it!
Okay, we might ‘buy’ the game because we love to hate it, but we aren’t buying the whole “new version” part. The improvements and updates are nothing but patch fixes and would have quickly been done to Madden’20 itself. The sales that are happening are because of the other modes such as Madden Ultimate Team and Knockout superstar. But the bread and butter of Madden is its franchise mode. And the makers couldn’t stand a chance at success from here on now if they do not lend an ear to the fans.
Making Madden a money-making machine
There’s so much focus on Online mode and not so much on the offline one because the makers can make money from microtransactions in the online mode. The franchise mode, which fans adore, has remained untouched in seven years, and it’s time to make significant amendments. So while the people don’t mind anybody profiting, they want to pay for a product that they deserve.
Here are some changes that EA Sports should look into, to make Madden a better place for everyone:
Tumblr media
Give us back the Training camp
In 2004, a minicamp mode was released¬— drills as per the player’s position to improve them as they head into the regular season. Training camp provided for a fun way to prepare your players for the regular season, where an unready body costs teams. Fans stayed up all night to get gold in these drills, but after 2013, we never saw the exercises again. We have to have something like a training camp to get out ahead in the season. Currently, there are only four-pre-season games, which everybody simulates. So, a training camp will be a welcome addition.
Revamp the drafting & scouting
Scouting and Drafting are crucial areas for football, which affect the whole season. Since the name of the mode is ‘franchise mode,’ we ought to have some semblance of being able to build one up correctly. In the current drafting situation, it is either round one or bust. Fans are tired of complaining about this and not getting anywhere with it. The rest of the rounds don’t carry any surprises or respectable talent, which does nothing but create an unrealistic vibe for the game. Since the NFL is famous for having gems come out from the later rounds like Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (Round 4) or the GOAT Tom Brady (Round 6). The drafting process has remained unchanged in almost ten years, and there’s just no way it hasn’t reached EA Sports yet.
Where’s the depth, EA?
MLB, NFL, and NBA are the top three sports leagues. And in real life, the NFL is at the top in all aspects of the country. But virtually, the amount of success enjoyed by NFL’s virtual counterpart stands nowhere close. The versions of Madden released after 2013 don’t seem like the work of a behemoth company like EA. The player’s information, news updates, and locker room chatter all play a role in building and succeeding as a franchise. And Madden doesn’t give us anything properly. No proper scouting, no in-depth player analysis, and you aren’t even privy to the national news (only the local ones).
Customize everything!
If you look at the franchise mode of NBA2K, Madden’s foremost foe, you’ll find everything you want Madden to be. The draft classes date back to the 1960s (when the NBA wasn’t even that great), so you can re-play history. They create expanded records and track everything. You can trade draft picks from the past five years on your team for additional transfer cache, there’s in-depth scouting, and even the off-season has been made attractive.
Tumblr media
And we haven’t even discussed customization yet. NBA2K allows you to create a fully customizable team. You can move them anywhere and have a mascot with the name of your choice. While Madden has relocation too, but it is restrictive, and you can’t even name your team or select a city of your choice (you’ve to choose from the list). Even MLB has gotten this feature in their game.
But Madden wasn’t always this disappointing; long-term fans remember how amazing the gameplay and player analysis used to be. There were national news reports and detailed player profiles. Maybe, they just got lazy and stopped brainstorming for new ideas. It is time to get back on the drawing board EA.

Opening Bell: March 11th, 2019
Tumblr media
I had a lunch date with my grandmother on Saturday, because I am seriously too adorable for words. We ate some killer fried fish in a lakeside restaurant, with a great view of the snowmobilers as they came flying across the ice before parking and waddling up to the restaurant’s back entrance. It’s nearly impossible to look cool while wearing enormous snowpants, so we had a good laugh each time a crew of them would shuffle their puffy asses across the 40 yards or so from the water to the door. It was a great and extremely wholesome time.
My grandmother is a huge sports fan, and on the ride home she told me a hilarious story about how she yelled at my uncle because he wouldn’t stop talking about dumb stuff during the Super Bowl gathering she was at. She really wanted to hear Tony Romo, I guess. The story ended with her saying “Everyone thought it was funny, but it wasn’t funny to me!” which in turn made it funnier to ME.
My amusement was swiftly replaced by sheer horror when she seamlessly segued from talking about the Super Bowl into sharing her thoughts on the current scandal involving Patriots owner Robert Kraft. I found myself trapped in a moving vehicle listening to my sweet, nearly 85-year-old grandmother go over the sordid facts of that particular case like she was Jeffrey Goddamned Toobin. I prayed a sinkhole would open up in the pavement and send me to sweet oblivion, an Irish lilt proclaiming “Do you know they have it on video?!” the last thing I’d ever hear.
Eventually, her analysis was mercifully complete and the conversation moved to ice cream, and our shared excitement over a local bakery opening for the season. In conclusion, fuck you, Robert Kraft.

One minute you’re snorkelling in the ocean off of South Africa’s coast, the next you find yourself in the mouth of a 50-foot-long whale. Classic.
I enjoyed this appropriately grouchy take on MLB and its current era of “post-competitive baseball.”
YouTube instituted a change intended to silence the sad bastards losing their minds over Captain Marvel, and it worked.
The Coast Guard rescued 46 ice fishermen who were stranded on an ice floe in Lake Erie.
A hilarious Texas man painted his house a truly awful shade of pink, and his neighbors are pissed.
An extremely badass dog made it to the peak of a 23,000-foot-high Himalayan mountain in Nepal.
Let’s finish things with a great headline: “Bus Driver Flips-off Students, Tells Kids to ‘Go F**k Yourselves’ Before Abandoning School Bus at Gas Station.”

Corridor of Famer Willie McCovey has some sturdy ideas on Barry Bonds’ candidacy
Subsequent week, the CBS Sports activities baseball crew will begin operating by means of the Corridor of Fame instances for every participant on the poll, main as much as the good reveal on Jan. 24. It is sure to be the same old contentious time within the feedback sections and on social media.
I do know some hate it, however I adore it. I feel it reveals that the Baseball Corridor of Fame is the very best one there may be, as a result of no different Corridor evokes a lot heated dialogue. Nothing will get extra heated than discussions on gamers tied to PEDs, and the most important lightning rods there are Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens.
On that entrance, we have already seen some warmth from present Corridor of Famer Joe Morgan. He wrote a letter to BBWAA voters urging them to maintain steroid customers out of the Corridor. Morgan explicitly mentioned he would not communicate for each Corridor of Famer, however there was a giant implication in there that he believed he was talking for a lot of of them.
Giants nice Willie McCovey would positively be a type of folks Morgan just isn’t talking for. Actually, McCovey believes that letter was principally directed at fellow Giants (and Pirates, too) nice Bonds, by way of a narrative within the San Francisco Chronicle. Among the many feedback — learn the total story for all McCovey’s ideas, together with when he immediately addresses Morgan — are that Bonds not being within the Corridor of Fame is a “sin.”
After which there’s this on PEDs:
“Guys took issues ever since baseball existed. It could not have been steroids, however guys took issues like these greenies and stuff so they may play the subsequent day. You are telling me all people is clear as a whistle? You performed towards guys who had been doing the identical factor he was doing, so what the heck?”
McCovey accurately drives house three central factors that we have been making on this web site for years.
Gamers have been attempting to make use of PEDs because the starting of baseball. Analysis “Pud Galvin” if you would like a Corridor of Famer for example.
“Greenies” are amphetamines, and Corridor of Famers equivalent to Willie Stargell and Mike Schmidt have been tied to them. These days, a optimistic amphetamines check carries a 25-game suspension.
We do not know who was or was not utilizing any form of PEDs whereas Bonds was going by means of his prime. We’ve got no means of definitively figuring out everybody who did or didn’t. None. Any argument towards that’s delusional. As such, we’re we penalizing Bonds? As a result of he was the very best participant alleged to have executed it? Damage emotions?
We’ll get extra into Bonds’ Herculean Corridor of Fame case subsequent month, however for now, we’ll let McCovey’s excellent outlining of the selective morality and hypocrisy carry the day.
