[ these are rough adaptive outlines ]

01a ( for basic crime verses he follows my standard modernverse storyline of being a veteran turned security guard. for various reasons he needs more money ( either to help his dad with bills or he gets romantically / peer pressured into it bc hes weak like that ) & gets disillusioned with the local law along the way. the combination starts him on a path of looking the other way when its somewhat justifiable to more actively offering ideas and intel bc he prefers a job well done / this is actually financially/socially rewarding to helping accomplish more violent acts bc richter strong and now he cant afford being caught. hes usu around his 30s for this

01b same beginnings but ten or twenty years later and hes had time to become something more like his grumpy murderous usual self ( killer for hire or more likely working exclusively for a leader bc his storylines go best with being dedicated to someone elses cause )

02 for superhero verses and the like he tends to be a default thug ( for instance in overwatch hes one of those talon enforcers ) iow: strong. mean... can hold big gun

03 as an alt red dead redemption verse, his strichter incarnation is a saloon / brothel owner. i dont think id do anything with the latter aspect on tumblr tho bc too heavy etc

04 oh and he did have a sin city verse where he was a detective and actually was trying to do right. i cant remember if that spawned other verses but hes not always bad egg

Headcanons about Styxx’s modernverse

Since I’ve sort of melded together Styxx’s canon, modern, and AOS verses, here’s a quick rundown:

Styxx is immortal. I know, that’s not realistic for a regular modern but honestly I probably won’t be playing in a “regular” modern much. Just AOS or book-canon-modern.

Styxx has a few tricks up his sleeve. 1. Conditional Immortality. He cannot die unless his twin Acheron dies. Acheron is the child of atlantean gods and is a full blooded atlantean god himself, so the odds of him dying are very slim, to Styxx’s dismay. He is also something called a chthonian, which in this universe are comparable to Source Gods, and furthermore, of the chthonian species, he’s what’s referred to as a God-Killer, a source being that can kill even high-level gods without unraveling the seams of the universe ( zeus as a god king, apollo or artemis as the sun&moon respectively, ectect ) 2. Styxx can hear thoughts. He doesn’t want to, he doesn’t like it, he tries to tune it out, and has learned to block out the thoughts most times. But it’s a thing. ( since this could get me into god-modding territory I’m going to change canon a lil and adopt Acheron’s version to Styxx, which is that he can hear thoughts, but not of those closest to/fated to be close to him for any number of reasons ) 3. Styxx is a WARRIOR. This is not so much a trick ( unless you count the whole ‘can’t die’ thing that gives him an obvious edge ) as it is just a flat-out advantage he has over most fighters. Styxx was born in a time of war and hand to hand combat, was trained from way too young and then given control of an army and told to march on the enemy at 15 years old. Because of this, while he’s adapted to using modern weapons, his most comfortable and most efficient weapon will always be a blade and shield, spartan-style.

i guess kind of like for the whole of the modernverse kids, their neutral end isn’t meant to be a happy ending or something brainfuckingly tragic. things get resolved. things don’t. life moves on.

they move away. they’re going to need a breath of fresh air after everything they’ve done to each other. the gaslighting and the love bombing and the blackmail and it’s too normal for them.

rhys goes back home to new york and she’s sleeping 13 hours a day with the fanciest new drug on the street to help her forget about him, but damn, her aim’s never been better than before

lacroix briefly gives his farewells to vaith, who’s found peace- shaky peace- with zathe. he slits the throat of a serial killer before he goes to back to switzerland (the number of killers in the world stays the same) and busies himself in the hospital for a while.

so damn them if at any point in time they loved each other, or they thought they did, or they thought that it might’ve worked out. sure there’s no easy forgetting how she rolled her sleeves up come dawn or how he liked to fall asleep on the dining table amid a stack of paperwork. no easy forgetting the number of times they kissed just because they could, wanted to see how it felt like.

they weren’t really too attached to the notion of sex and love being intertwined, but if we’re talking about the neutral ending, it probably wasn’t a hatefuck. say it was probably once in another country they’ve already forgotten the name of in a car that wasn’t theirs. and it wasn’t their firsts, either, but you could argue a lot of things are a first when it comes to both of them.

didn’t talk about it afterwards. it happened, but that was all.

come to think of it, he probably ends up traveling a lot with his brother. maybe it’s a little bit awkward at first but there’s nothing to fill the vacuum in your heart by exploiting capitalism and experimenting on people for the greater good of humanity, question mark

it’s like an apology for freeing liam tenor vaith from his contact but it’s not really

the two of them discuss the crow at length and bond over his heroic tendencies. it’s not a healing experience but it soothes the raw in his chest.

trey sits next to rhys’ bed one day and the two of them wallow in the silence. the dark, because they haven’t opened the windows. this is part of being human, finding out how to love. sometimes love doesn’t mean purely anal sex in a relationship, he says, and she throws the covers over her head.

he introduces her to a slew of girls over the following weeks but she can’t ever get attached to any of them. she’s in it for the brief spark of maybe this is love but there’s nothing left for her after that.

( once someone tries to apologize for snapping at you with a butcher knife via taking you to the edge of the coast just to see the sundown, and it works, and it’s this pretense of freedom that really makes you forget about anything-- well, after that, it’s all a candle to the sun )

anyways they don’t talk about their new scars, do they, the ones they’ve slowly accumulated over years of going at each others’ throats. they’ll never admit that they should’ve listened to zathe.

assflash, newshole, for living with a psychopath, zathe had some good tips.

their new years’ resolutions are to move on. maybe not to forget, although that would be nice, but just to. you know. not stop and stare at everything that reminds you of someone else. associate better things with old symbolism.

they don’t really feel the need to go back to each other. rhys does, for a little bit, cries and almost stabs her hand into the wall to stop herself from running back to. well, anyone. we blame that on lacroix making her dependent on him.

we blame lacroix’s paranoia on rhys’ tendency to guilt-trip and emotionally blackmail him. they don’t come out of this nicely scarred and they’re not supposed to.

lacroix lifts his phone away from his ear and stares at liam’s number splashed across his phone’s screen. time heals all wounds. but not this one. not now.

.. and this is a really shitty closing thought but it’s 2:52 and i’m still awake at the most time people get up at bed all the way on the east coast but

it’s not that they couldn’t work it out, somehow, but that’s really too idealistic and in the end it’s probably better for them like this. it’s why it’s called a neutral ending

Current Wishlist - Short

A slightly more literal take on the good and handsome knight-hero goes off to slay the dragon trope. Relative goodness and heroism tbd.

For a Belle or a Fou: invading army takes prisoners and demands tithe from town. Given to Gaston as a spoil of war. Fun stuff!

Cool alternate for a Belle: forced to wed Gaston in order to pacify the Powers That Be. Could also be fun a Belle and a Fou to explore together!

Cool alertnate for a Fou: forcible draft. Is trained against his will to be a soldier. Trains/serves under Gaston. Funtimes.

I’m trashy and want werewolves because pack dynamics are awesome, thanks!

I’m still trashy and also want vampires, but I might be a little more selective about this one ‘cause I only want them three ways.

One: The big vampire verse I talked out with the Skype group with all four twins.

Two: The slightly smaller vampire verse I talked out with @jcligarcon involving territory wars and terrible people.

Three: Something more in the style of Bloodlines, with vicious Vampston out killing dudes on the frontlines, although this could even work post-war if need be. I’m not tied to the novel series’ WWII setting but I would prefer something more historic to something more modern for this.

Speaking of modern a modern at-war verse might be cool, but word up I don’t know jackshit about military biz.

I talked out some dark-ass serial killer stuff on Skype a few times. I think serial killer modernverse Gaston might be fun still. Will be selective about this one, lotsa grown up themes.

Gaston doing well to incredibly well in a typical dickhead talent-based profession. I’m thinking either sports or music, although racing (cars, he’s kinna big for a jockey) wouldn’t surprise me much.
