Here is a snippet from the unfinished, untitled and unpolished chapter 2 of my fic The Seeker's Chronicles :

"May I use the phone ?"

The ticket seller jumps in his seat, in a way that would appear almost comical if it were not for the dire situation. His wide eyes lock onto the woman in front of him, before they close as he breathes out in relief, finding the beloved mayor's assistant a much more welcoming sight than the cloaked redhead with menacing glowing eyes.

“O- Of course, Mrs Darlington, go ahead…”

She quickly thanks him, and goes to dial a number, the movements of her fingers quick and efficient. After a short moment, a brief sigh of exhaustion can be heard, followed by the grave voice of a man.

"Hello ?"

She speaks urgently, "Mayor Smallcat, good evening."

"Good evening Helen, what is the matter ? I thought you were at the magic show with Mr Darlington ?"

"I am or, well… the show's been cut short."

"Cut short ? Whatever do you mean ?"

She sighs, "To put it simply, the magician was some kind of… dark sorcerer in disguise. He made several young women disappear, I think he stole their souls…"

"He— Their souls ?!" he cries out. "Dear god, are you alright ?!"

"I am, but Miss Anders was among the victims though…"

"I am sorry, Helen…"

"Mayor Smallcat, there is something else."

"What is it ?" he asks. His voice appeared to have aged several years in seconds.

"Right after those events, a young woman showed up. She doesn't seem to remember who she is."

"A young woman ? Do you know her ?"

"No. I don't remember ever seeing her in town either."

"Never ? Did you notice anything particularly unusual about her ?"

“Unusual is the right word sir. She is not dressed like a lady at all, and resembles some kind of adventurer. She also carries a roll of parchment with her, and refuses to let go of it.”

"A roll of parchment ? What does it say ?"

"I don't know, she keeps it closed in her hand, she is almost clinging onto it for dear life."

"I see… anything else?"

"Well, she helped me find some clues about what happened, she was very fast at finding them… Maybe she's some kind of investigator ?"

A pause.

"Good at finding things you say ?" he says with a pensive tone.

"Yes ?"

"Could you bring her to the city hall, please ? I would like to have a word with her."

➳ What was your first impressions of each other?

At first I was wary about meeting him since he sent me the vaguest message possible. But then he proved to be both kind and capable, and I... well, it made me smile. I must be honest here though, the first thing that came to my mind was : 'Wait. Are you the one who stalked me ever since I got here ?' And the second one was : 'Why are you so handsome ?'

⋆ • 💙 Informant :

I was not stalking her. I was investigating her because she was an outsider –we had not had one in years– and I wanted to see whether or not she posed a threat to the city. This rapidly proved to not be the case as I could see how kind she was to anyone she met. And I must admit... she looked as if the sunshine and stars combined took a human form. This did not help my case.

➳ What do you two find to be the most attractive about one another?

⋆ • 🧡 Seeker :

His smile... I cannot actually see it, but I do see the way his eyes change when he does smile. It makes my heart melt. Also, the way he raises his eyebrows when he is surprised is so cute ! But he really does have distracting eyebrows... And he has such a pleasing voice... and beautiful hands... I might be getting a little carried away here...

Her smile, her laugh, the way she rolls her eyes and crosses her arms when she finds something annoying... Her hair, especially in the sunlight... I love the way she scruches up her nose and shows her teeth when she laughs, the little gap she has is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I could go on and on...

➳ What went through your head when feelings were confessed?

It felt as... as if my mind had just gone blank. I could not think about anything other than : 'I love him, I love him, I love him'. I felt so, so happy. I felt happy, safe and... I felt as if I could do anything. I knew I was ready to go to the end of the earth if it could save him.

⋆ • 💙 Informant :

I immediately felt relief. And then so much, so much happiness. From this moment I knew I would never be alone again, and that no matter what, she would always be there. I felt warm and fuzzy, more than I am usually around her. She makes me feel safe.

➳ What’s your favorite thing about your F/O’s personality?

Definitely the way he expresses himself. It is mostly the microexpressions, because they are just proof that a lot can be said without words and with the tiniest movement. Also, the way he talks. Straightforward, and simple, always keeping it calm. Yet the best parts are when he feels more emotion and more of himself slips through.

➳ What’s your dream date to go on with your F/O?

Seeker and the Informant together? check. Late night in the observatory? check. Snacks, books, map of the sky? triple check. Playful fighting/flirting when taking turns at the telescope? Hell yeah check. Ending up as the last remaining visitors and falling asleep snuggled against each other under the stars? HELL YEAH check.

Pretty much anywhere. Whether it is when browsing social media or walking outside, in nature, at a museum... It could be a character's original pose in the midst of action, the unique colors of a sunset, the way the brush strokes are done in a painting... I would think 'Hey, I can use this !!'

Anything I see might give me an idea for a pose, a vibe, a story... There is just potential and beauty in so many things and it would be a shame to not enjoy it to its fullest.

He is arrogant sometimes. Mister knows best ! Listen to Mister, it's a scary world out there !

I know he is intelligent, smart, knowledgeable about a lot of things, and I admire him immensely for that. But gosh... sometimes he has trouble taking a step back. He can be stubborn, very much so !

I... argh, I cannot stand how stubborn she is ! If Miss Seeker has decided something, you can always try to talk her out of it ! It is like talking to a brick wall !

I admire her determination and her bravery, but at times they do get to her head...

➳ When did you know you were in love?

I... I think it was that night when we went in the forest to search for Nostromo's treasure chest.

On the way back, we were attacked by a werewolf. He pushed me out of its way and got hurt... I think I managed to kill it using my powers, at least that's what Info told me...

But the important part is that he did not even let me take a look at his wound ! I had to insist ! Only when we got to his network's safehouse, did he let me take a look. I didn't care if his agents were staring, I had to help him, he was bleeding damn it ! He finally let me look at his side and use my powers to help him at some point, but that took a lot of convincing...

I just could not stand seeing him in pain... I didn't want this happening again, I didn't want him to have to stay hurt alone...!

I would say... that day when I accompanied her back to her house, after we failed to catch the Man in the Mask in his catacomb lair.

The way back was a bit of a blur for both of us I believe... She was in such a strange state, I am quite certain she had just had a panic attack of sorts. I think I somewhat lashed out at someone who tried to accost her at that moment.

It was rainy and dark and cold the whole time, and I am not sure whether the water drops on her face fell from the sky or her eyes.

I cannot tell whether it was truly the realization that I loved her, but at the very least, I was feeling as if I... as if I could never let her face her fears alone again.

➳ Gush about your f/o's interest(s) and how they talk about them!

Oh boy. I love that he draws. I love when he draws the little squint and frown combo when he is really focused on it, and the way he gets really close to his paper when he is drawing a detail and his nose is touching the paper and his tricorn hits the paper and he gets surprised about it and tilts it back so he can continue.

I have no idea why but everytime it is said he is cooking something in the game (so far I saw it once but it multiplied in my head 👀) it is making me terribly flustered. I just imagine him wearing a cute apron on top of his usual outfit and it looks so cute. Also I love how he looks so focused when he is adding details, the little wrist movements when he puts powdered sugar on a cake.

➳ Gush about how your f/o acts/looks when they're flustered!

He tries so hard to not let it show that he is flustered but the red on his cheeks and ears betrays him. It is just both funny and adorable how he just stays very still and very upright while he turns red as a poppy and his eyes widen and look away. And then he tries to speak and answer to whatever made him flustered (spoiler : it has something to do with Seeker :)) but he cannot answer and ends up stuttering. So he stops talking because he is looking for his words but he still blushing all the while and oh my god.

hey hey. 👋 I love these, it's so much fun to see if you're right or not. 😂🤣

I assume you and the informant are poetic romantic lovers, leaving heartfelt words for each other [via letters, notes, etc.] and possibly a few roses once in a while too. 🤔

Oh lord you are right. Seeker and the Informant are indeed romantic lovebirds.

I got a lot of inspiration from the beginning of Seekers Notes, both versions (the beginning of the story was remade not very long ago, it was weird but came with good stuff too).

In the old game incipit, the seeker receives a coded message from the Informant and has to decipher it to then go and meet him for the first time. In the new game incipit, the Informant sends a non coded message to the seeker via a messenger pigeon.

So my headcanons are that they send each other cute letters via pigeon, or leave a cute coded message to the other, just to have fun deciphering it. The Informant even taught Seeker the code he uses with his network! The only disadvantage is that sometimes those cute coded messages get confused with messages for the network. The agents got really confused the first time they saw a letter from the Informant start with "My sweet ray of sunshine".

As for flowers, yes. In her mail, Seeker gets flowers regularly from admirers or as thank-yous, but the Informant also regularly leaves flowers at her door. Always the ones she prefers (sunflowers, daisies, yellow roses, crocuses, daffodils...) and always the same dark blue ribbon so she knows it is from him.

And Seeker gives him flowers too! I headcanon that he likes colourful, not-too-big flowers, and it is a joy for her to get him some! Hence, the network's safehouse is filled with colorful little bouquets and the agents are not complaining.

Alright I said a lot here but god I love talking about these two !
