i live in stockholm, the capital! it’s on the east coast, a bit more south than the middle of the country. i unfortunately haven’t seen any northern lights yet, they’re almost only visible in the far north, but we usually get snow in the winter! some years it’s very little, some years it’s a lot. very cozy 🤭🤭

#we actually had one day in november last year when it snowed so much that like school was cancelled & so on because #there was snow up above your knees so the roads couldn’t be plowed and the subways didn’t work #and most trees broke down because of the weight of the snow 😮 so it was kinda dangerous to be outside because either you could get hit by #a collapsing tree or by big lumps of snow falling down from roofs #all of our fruit trees got ruined :( #but it was so much fun #playing in knee-high snow really warms your heart #my inner child was very happy #and seeing parents pull their kids around on sleds :( so cute #asks! #anon!

Btw if you’re weird about cyclists I will block with abandon unless it’s funny enough. In places with the infrastructure to support cycling and places with decent public transport there need to be less cars on the road. I’m not even saying no cars but dramatically less. For the climate and for air quality and for safety. It’s cars that make roads dangerous for everyone not cyclists.

#people are soo weird about cyclists and as someone who cycles everywhere(and is safe about it. i make jokes that I’m not but I am) #it’s really scary to see the amount of vitriol towards cyclists #in most cities there are not enough safe cycle paths and if there’s no cycle path we have as much right to the road as you. #anyway! #some of the jokes are funny but if you’re in my activities page typing in all caps about hating and wanting to kill cyclists I will block. #like my city is supposedly really good for cyclists but the cycle paths will stop in the middle of busy roads so cars can park there #which means I then get spat out into busy traffic with people who think I’m a public nuisance. for just getting around the city. #i wear a helmet because if I do come off my bike I don’t want to fucking die and yet studies show that drivers care less about #keeping safe distances from cyclists wearing helmets because they don’t see them as human. like I’m sorry but that is deranged and dangerou #you are in a fucking death box and i am on a little frame with two wheels take the fucking responsibility that that warrants. sorry.

the way it's practically impossible to get anything done that you can't do yourself if you work monday to friday. what do you mean I have to apply for leave so I can get my car serviced? are you insane?

#i had to call in sick to get my foot looked at #I've done all kinds of hours and days over multiple jobs #the best imo is something like 9-5 for only 3 to sometimes 4 self chosen week days #like that was my favourite type of schedule #I've done weekend work I've done arvos and sleepovers #I've also done no sleep night shifts and those flat out fucking kill you #i worked an all nighter then had to drive 50km home. no joke i was falling asleep at the wheel on Australia's most dangerous road

one day, im gonna sit down and write a poem about how after adopting a dog who spends 80% of his time sat in my lap, ive come to appreciate how difficult it is to do things without jostling him and how id never appreciated the gentleness of the stranger who had picked me up, held me and carried me home when i tore a chunk of flesh out of my leg at age 9 when i ran into barbed wire playing hide and seek tag, and how a man i didnt know had done everything he could not to jostle me as i clung to him, and just how difficult it must have been for him not to jostle me, and how he didnt need to be that gentle or to help me at all but when he was the first adult a different child could find and ask help from, he didnt hesitate to do everything he could, and how every time im trying to do anything without jostling archie, i think of him, and how anytime some piece of media tries to tell me that computers have figured out humans can only destroy, i cant take it seriously because with nothing to gain from it, he did everything he could to help a child who was hurting.

i just dont know how the fuck to put all of those feelings into coherent words because theres just so much feeling and emotion that goes into it, and because im always more critical of my work when its more optimistic or positive and how that definitely says something all by itself, but i still dont know how to word any of it.

#kai rambles #delete later #probably #im just feeling some feelings on this fine saturday afternoon #and i dont know how to word any of them #its so much easier to write painful things or sad things than happy things #at least for me #i also dont know how to separate it from the fact that none of it should have happened in the first place #because we shouldnt have been able to play there #residents had written to the council over and over again asking them to put a fence up because they knew it was dangerous #and that there was barbed fucking wire sticking out of the ground #and that kids were playing there #and the council never did because it was seen as a priority #and they didnt have the money #because they rarely ever have any money because we are one of the most impoverished boroughs in britain #and thats consistent #so it wasnt even that the council knew it was an accident waiting to happen and didnt do anything #it was that they couldnt rationalise spending the money on it without there being an accident because you know #some of our schools were not safe for kids to be in like on a hygeine level #and our water pipes broke seemingly every year so they were always fixing that and our roads needed doing #and a lot of our bridges are barely over the threshold of safe #so the council just couldnt afford to put a fence there until i ran into barbed wire and needed stitches #its so hard to separate all of that from the actual event because the wider context is just a damnation of capitalism and our government
