Wang Yan and Emperor Wang Xuan showing up when all the fun is over with 10 minutes left of the last episode 😆 I mean, they had their own fun on the war front but, you know... lol
Also we got Chen Chou and the soldier guy’s reactions to Zhang Ping’s plan to get himself stabbed, and I know we were kind of busy with the action, but I also want to know the others’ reactions to Zhang Ping’s plan to get himself stabbed.
Going slightly backward a little, but not going to lie, the way that Lan Jue is such a well-done flawed character where we saw him willing to go dark and against his morals to accomplish his goal to clear his father’s name before that when he sided with Gu Qing Zhang over Zhang Ping after the stabbing of the “empress,” there were definitely a moment of uncertainty of “is this really happening” that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Sucks that they couldn’t really have the Empress’s evil crimes on record without the why she did it and go back to the switched princes reason since that would lead to chaos.  So while the truth of what happened to Moulou Village and Lan Jue’s dad is out, it also was like muddled with the need to cover it up to keep peace. At least the important people that needed to know and be at peace with their truths knew.
Also, the fact that Gu Qing Zhang and Zhang Ping grew up with each other as brothers for a few years yet we only got 2 scenes with any real emotional moments between them (when Zhang Ping came back to the capital after learning the truth about his past and when Gu Qing Zhang thought Zhang Ping died) is a shame.  I want to know Gu Qing Zhang's thoughts and reactions after seeing his adoptive brother again for the first time and realizing he wasn't the only survivor of the red mist over their village. I want to know more of Zhang Ping's reactions after he remembered his past, more than just a passing comment of "oh I remember I had an older brother who likes to read and didn't play with me as much."
The drama is beautiful. The plot and mysteries are tight and the pace’s good.  All the characters are likeable and understandable. The characters’ interactions with each other are also A++  Cinematography is also gorgeous.  I do wish it was a little longer so that we could have sat with some of the moments some more or dove into some of the interactions and development deeper.

6/24/Molly sniff
I was sick for a good deal of today so I didn't manage to get 100% out of my last day here, but this evening I was doing alright, so after a visit to the dentist we went out for curry beef noodles. Then headed back to Ximen to try out another game center (playing MEG songs on jubeat again and played DDR for the first time in ages) and bought a couple of shirts at street stalls.
Spent the last hour packing and listening to Humming Urban Stereo while finishing off the last pudding in the fridge.
Don't wanna go back home ;___; can everyone come here instead please??

6/23/Molly Log
Houtong today was amazing. It takes two trains to get there, and a considerable stint of sleepiness, but they're not lying when they call it "cat village". It used to be an old mining town, but over the past ten years or so the local cat population has grown so much that it began to be famous for it, and now it's a tourist destination. Arriving in the station, there's platforms for the cats to walk around on the walls, and cat houses here and there along the roads. There were around 4 cats just taking the cross-over bridge to get to the main square.
The town is built onto a mountain next to a fairly bubbly river, so the scenery is pretty amazing, but more so than that is just the sheer amount of cats. If you see a box, there's a cat in it. A pot, there's a cat next to it. Same goes for doorways. tables. food stalls. chairs. a dusty road. a brick wall. the cats are sleeping on everything. I think I must have seen over 70 unique cats, and I didn't even walk the full village.
After heading back to Taipei, we had pork cutlets for dinner (boss), and then went to an arcade in Ximen, which you might call the Harajuku of Taipei in that it has a lot of cheap clothes and food and is a bit of a teen hangout. I busted up my hand playing Taiko no Tatsujin (Tsukema Tsukeru!) and tried Jubeat for the first time (MEG and more Kyary songs even. amaze.) I always forget how fun it is to just binge play rhythm games.
Where's the replay button for today?

Belated Molly Diary
Day before yesterday we went to Judy's brother's place to make dumplings. The whole family used to live in Houston so I managed to get by ok conversation-wise, and they were kind enough to put up with my sub-par dumpling rolling. Man, I had absolutely no idea it was so hard ;__; but so tasty! Newfound respect for each and every single gyoza I eat.
And yesterday we went out to a bureau office to get Jun a stamp for his passport excluding him from the draft. Nearby there was a noodle shop, where we had some really great food and where the shop owner was sitting at one of the tables with a stuffed otter, folding paper to use for a calligraphy manuscript she was copying. So cute! We followed that up with a visit to Songshan cultural park, which has like 3 different design museums, and is right next to Eslite, a very carefully curated interior/fashion/product/graphic design department store of sorts. It's usually a chain of bookstores but they recently opened this more varied department store, which is particularly beautiful. Songshan itself used to be a cigarette factory, but it's been repurposed as a creative park and has a whole set of older buildings with new interiors, and great gardens. The plan for today is to go back to Eslite to take a workshop on ring crafting :V Molly out!
