Delighted to have been involved in the installation of Helen Scott's Hidden Gems at The Edinburgh City Art Centre this week! It's free, inclusive, accessible and there are so many treasures here including new acquisitions such as this Morris Grassie. An exhibition of ‘hidden gems’ from the City Art Centre’s collection of fine art; celebrating the unsung and the unusual. #scottishart #art #curator #edinburgh #museumsandgalleries #scottish #fishermen #morrisgrassie @curator @curator_on_the_run @lifeofacurator @scottishgallery @fas_edinburgh @bonhams1793 @sothebys @lyonandturnbull @ramsay_cornish_auctioneers @scottishnationalportrait @travellinggallery @nationalportraitgallery @national_gallery @nationaltrustforscotland @royal_scottish_academy @the.scotsman @huffpostarts @artmaguk @artnewsmag @artreview_magazine @artobserved @stockbridgeedinburgh #artistsoninstagram #artforall (at City Art Centre)

My husband James painted this from our travels in Italy. The painting is titled Pedoni en Fiorenze (Pedestrians in Florence), acrylic, collage and oil on linen, 24 x 36 inches (61 x 91 cm) 2019. James wrote that new painting continues my exploration of people walking, this time set in Florence Italy. Walking across the Ponte S.Trinita, locals coming home from work, tourists from every corner of the earth and a group of Chinese photographers in between shooting a wedding couple for a fashion magazine all burnished by the late evening sun. My wife, Debbie is in the picture too, black coat and red scarf. It was cold then and the “bride” put on a coat in between takes. I observe the edit the pedestrians in my own way. Not seen are the cars and motorbikes that zoomed past. It’s a study of motion, pattern, shadows and golden light. www.jamesgriffinstudio.com.#florenceitaly #museumsandgalleries #artlover100k https://www.instagram.com/p/BzWCWpDBr3l/?igshid=1shzg0eok09un

‘This major exhibition brings together sculpture and drawings from the 1950s onwards, drawn from the ARTIST ROOMS collection, as well as the National Galleries of Scotland and Tate. These works show the strong scientific basis for Beuys’ art and his pioneering use of materials such as felt, fat, wax and copper. At the heart of the exhibition is the sculpture Scala Napoletana (1985), made only a few months before the artist’s death in 1986.’ (2017)
Myself and three fellow students have been accepted to participate in Occupations: working with artist James Thompson over two days in-situ within Leeds Art Gallery’s Joseph Beuys exhibition. We have been invited to explore and debate the theme of ‘occupations’ through our personal and collective artistic practices, and asked to transform the Gallery into a live space of production, responding to Joseph Beuys’ provocation ‘everyone is an artist’ as we navigate our surroundings to construct our own conception of reality.
