my best advice to anyone who's still in middle/high school is to make your teachers think you are the nicest sweetest purest little goody two shoes on the planet so that you can get away with breaking rules fairly openly bc your teachers either won't believe it or will view it as a very minor issue since you're the perfect student

#this is how i broke a kids leg and physically injured a teacher twice with 0 repercussions #also make best friends with the snarky english teachers theyll protect you if you can match their repartee #literally just be like im such a perfect sweet little angel who is so so interested in history class #i would NEVER play cards in the empty orchestra room during class with some other kids. never would i break a rule its preposterous #if you have at least one teacher who views you like this theyll go to bat for you if you ever actually get caught :) #also just be autistic as fuck your classmates will hate you but ur teachers will infantilize you into non agency #i almost got suspended for wearing a hat all the time after being told not to then i told one of my favorite teachers #and she told the teacher who kept getting on to me to leave me alone #another year i feel asleep almost every day in biology and my astronomy teacher told him i was having a really hard time (i was) #so he ended up printing out the slides for me every day and asking my table mate to give me his notes when i fell asleep #which was so so sweet of both of them and i really needed that kindness and ill never forget it #but i think a more disruptive kid may not have received the same level of kindness

Never forgetting that one time at Uni when there was a shortcut to the place I needed to go to, but there was a "Do not open" sign on the door despite everyone opening it anyway but I'm a good boy™️ and I didn't want to break rules even if others were doing it.

So this classmate of mine saw me being hesitant at opening the door and it basically went:

Me: I need to go to [x], I should hurry because it's a long way from here.

Her: use that door over there to cut down time.

Me: but it says 'do not open'.

Her: and are you letting a piece of paper glued to a door order you around? //opens the door for me.

and this is not me hating on mari because i love her so so so much. i just hate how passionate and heated fans get about this. i mean... y’all... adrien didn’t even think mari liked him??? like, in puppeteer two, he is literally upset because he came to the conclusion that mari hates him. also, of course he’s not like in love with or crushing on her when she’s barely spoken actual sentences to him! again, not me hating on mari and her nerves because like i get it, it’s hard. and also this is like adrien’s first time interacting with people as peers, so 1. of course romance is not his main priority 2. he doesn’t understand social cues or situations very well At All which is made abundantly clear in the show 3. i don’t... i don’t think adrien knows what affection is??? i mean, he’s definitely learned some over the course of the show, but he’s used to a neglectful / abusive father, his stoic assistant, his bodyguard who doesn’t really talk like at all, chloé being chloé, and hoards of fans declaring that they’re in love with him, hanging all over him, acting like he’s a shiny thing rather than a person, etc... so like. how is adrien supposed to actually comprehend that mari likes him???

and okay no my last point: so so so sick of the double standard. i have seen countless people rant and rave and scream and shout about how stupid adrien is for not returning mari’s feelings or knowing he has a crush on her and then these same people will turn around and berate chat noir and say things like “gosh ladybug isn’t obligated to return his feelings:/” like... hELLO??? why is ladybug not obligated while adrien is??? it’s ridiculous and disgusting and i’m so so so tired of “just a friend” jokes on tumblr, in art, in fics, in youtube compilations... like... can’t we be normal about this? and i don’t mean normal as in “casually enjoy” i mean normal as in can we stop being so aggressive and harsh and hostile towards literal fourteen year olds my God they’re children they’re allowed to make mistakes and mess up and my God the way y’all talk about lila is disgusting, too like i hate her but i don’t want her tortured and killed??? and the way people characterize the classmates as physically and verbally assaulting mari because of lila??? like... my God they would never??? they would all honestly side with mari chameleon is a bad episode and is poorly written and everyone is out of character please use your critical thinking skills and understand that chat noir is not harassing ladybug anymore than mari may be harassing adrien (aka they are not harassing each other at all my God) and stop insulting and demonizing fourteen year olds so your otp can get together thanks

Back to that English commas thing, I read I can be sure to use commas wherever possible in order to prevent confusion and misreading and it made me laugh because it reminded me of one dialogue between one of my classmates and my Russian language teacher.

Went to an actual salon for the first time in years to cut all my hair off, and damn I did not expect this kind of endorphin rush. I was barking up the wrong tree with the painful massage business, the kind of human touch I needed was a stylist very carefully and gently clipping away ‘round my ears for an hour. The guy not only gendered me correctly, but also asked if I had grown up in Taipei with expat parents (maybe he was just being flattering though, cause if that were so I ought to remember the words for shampoo and conditioner by now and I said those in English). I feel like I had three years of bad vibes and stress stored in all that hair (started growing it out in Australia) and now it’s goneeeee, good riddance (of course I had been nursing no small amount of needless apprehension beforehand). Goodbye detangling battles, sayonara mayhem in the shower drain strainer. I did leave a rat tail as per tradition, in the event that I ever run into some fae entity or wandering god who demands a bodily sacrifice as part of a magical exchange, whereupon I will cut it off dramatically and without hesitation.

re that last post: honorable mention goes to the time the laws of mathematics changed but only where i was sitting

we were doing some statistics in class or i honestly don't even know anymore, but there was a complicated little equation. and i punched it into my calculator and it was Not the correct answer (which was on the whiteboard already)

so i said "ugh i probably put in the wrong numbers somewhere because i am chronically inattetive" because this has been happening to me since the dawn of time and was the cause of 90% of my point losses on math tests in middle school

so i did it again. and got the exact same answer again. "hey did i copy the equation correctly?" i did. i tried doing most of it by hand except for the part where i needed a calculator because i can't do square roots in my head. same answer. "hey maybe my calculator is broken" did some random equations, everything else was correct.

"ummmm professor, it's. i can't get the answer. i mean i can, but i can't, i- uh, come over here?"

i punched in the equation again. same result. "SEE? i did it all right!" and then i did it again at her request.

"hmm" the teacher said "you DID copy it over correctly and that was the right equation." "RIGHT??" i said, vindicated.

"well, keep trying." she said, and left, because she was an asshole.

i never did get the correct answer.
