You've become even more of a comfort person for me because you're the last thing I talked about with my sister. She passed away a few weeks ago and the last time we hung out, I talked and talked for hours about my Eras Tour show. I'll never forget that last day I had with her and how excited she was for me that I got to see you live again. shoutout to this edit by @lorelaiileigh for making me realize that the music video was her very pointedly telling us “he’s got my past frozen behind glass but i’ve got me” — unlike on tour, what’s in the boxes are mannequins. it’s this big warehouse of memories that is locked tight that no one can interact with. but she is literally leaving with herself, because her face is in the painting!!! but it’s not ANYWHERE else. it could have been her in all boxes also begging to get out, but ir was just her in the vault and her face in the painting. literally “but i’ve got me”
