Texel

We rijden van de boot. Op het eiland schijnt de zon dapper door, er staat een briesje. De omgeving oogt glashelder, alsof ik net mijn brillenglazen heb gepoetst. Er ontstaat een kleine file, richting De Cocksdorp, het uiterste plaatsje noord op Texel. Twee hooiwagens voor ons. Lekker langzaam, in een optocht van auto’s, het onthaasten is begonnen. Man krijgt de kriebels, slaat rechtsaf, om toch maar weer terug te keren. De hooiwagens zijn inmiddels verdwenen. 

Ons onderkomen is een vrijstaand huisje in de glooiende duinen. Twee konijnen huppelen op het terras. Een zeemeeuw krijst. ‘s Avonds na het eten wandelen we naar het strand. In het heldere licht, dat je alleen op een eiland treft. Het duinlandschap strekt zich uit aan twee kanten. Prachtige (grijs)groene en paarse tinten, af en toe een plukje geel, de lucht erboven gekleurd door een half ondergaande zon, het slingerende schelpenpad, de stilte.

Aan het eind van de kilometers, de weg loopt omhoog, zien we bovenaan in de verte de zee rollen. Onstuimig, met spierwitte schuimkoppen, niet het geelbruin wat ik ook wel ken van de Noordzee in het westen. Hup, erop af. De golven aan onze voeten. Het brede, lege strand. In de verte een boot. Zoon rent energiek heen en terug, met de zee mee. Hij joelt. Het aloude spel. We wandelen terug door de duinen. De opvallende stilte, de schoonheid van het landschap is overweldigend.

‘s Avonds in ons huisje is het muisstil, geen auto-geluiden, niets. Slechts het suizen van mijn oren en een zacht tikkende klok. ‘Mag het geluid aan, vraagt zoon. Anders is het zo stil’.

Ik ga mijn fiets ophalen. Thuis online vast gehuurd en betaald. Een damesfiets met zeven versnellingen. Man loopt met me mee. Het begint zachtjes te regenen. Daar zal je het hebben. De jonge vrouw komt met de fiets aan de hand aangelopen. Een Gazelle, ziet er uit als nieuw. Man zet het zadel wat hoger, nadat het mij niet lukt. Ik stap op. Perfect. Het is al weer droog.

Zoon ziet mijn fiets, wil een rondje. ‘Mama ik kan er makkelijk op fietsen, alleen het zadel staat te hoog’. Ik weet dat hij liefst zou ruilen van fiets. Zoon heeft een prima fiets. Vorig jaar nieuw gekocht. Ik weet een leuk onderwerp voor aan tafel, zei hij een week geleden. Verwachtingsvol keken we hem aan. Ik wil een nieuwe fiets, zei hij stellig. Dit keer waren zijn ouders onverbiddelijk. Laten we het gazellig houden, zei hij nog. We lachten. Hij zag het als een aanmoediging. ‘Ga er maar voor sparen’.

Ik zit met koffie en een stroopwafel in een streep zon voor het huisje. Twee meeuwen vliegen cirkels boven mijn hoofd, er volgen er nog twee. In een reflex verstop ik mijn stroopwafel onder mijn arm. nog een rondje en ze vliegen weg. Verbeeld ik het me, of heb ik ze om de tuin geleid? De betoverende stilte wordt steeds vaker onderbroken door vliegtuiggeraas. We blijken vlak bij Texel airport te zitten. Niets is wat het lijkt. ‘Nee, zegt man, je hoort de Efzestiens van vliegveld Leeuwarden’. 

‘s Middags fietsen we door Nationaal park Texel, richting de vuurtoren. Flinke klimmetjes, het lukt me om in zijn twee, te blijven rijden. Als een slak, ik val nog net niet van mijn fiets. Al bijna negen maanden niet gesport, denk ik verbeten. 

De natuur maakt alles goed. De zee, bijna groen, als een verlengstuk van het duinlandschap. Komt door de dreigende donkerblauwe lucht die er boven hangt. Ik zie twee lef-surfers. Zoon wil de vuurtoren bezoeken. We zetten de fietsen in het rek, wandelen er naar toe, links in de diepte het enorme strand, in de verte de zee. Hier en daar een vlieger, slechts een paar stipjes mensen. Aan deze kant oogt de zee niet groen, maar blauw met fantasierijke wolken erboven. 

Weer het scheurende geluid van F16’s. Stelletje spelbrekers. We beklimmen de vuurtoren. Dat verklaart de lege stranden. Ik aarzel, al die mensen achter elkaar op de smalle treden in de benauwde toren naar boven. Om maar te zwijgen over de hoeveelheid mensen die tegelijkertijd naar beneden wil. Ik krijg het benauwd, loop naar buiten. Ga je nog mee? vraagt man. Ik verman me en loop braaf achter hem aan. Had me al bijna verzoend met mijn aftocht. nu ben ik definitief mijn moeder, dacht ik. Die wachtte ook regelmatig op ons door zelf achter te blijven. Het uitzicht vanaf de toren is als een ansichtkaart. Het duingebied verpletterend, zeker zo mooi als de kant van het brede strand met de zee. Texel doet me weer versteld staan. 

Via De Cocksdorp fietsen we terug. Niet voordat zoon nog even een ijsje scoort. Wij wachten op hem, mijmerend staan we naast onze fietsen. Daar zal je ‘m hebben. Hij houdt het ijsje omhoog. Ziet er uit als een bak voor drie personen. Het is een sundae ijs met chocoladesaus. ‘De stukjes kitkat is hij vergeten. Misschien verstond hij me niet’ zegt zoon met volle mond,  neemt een grote hap waarbij de chocola om zijn mond blijft plakken.

We komen bij het huisje, parkeren onze fietsen en zien drie konijnen. Even later hupt een fazant op het terras. de fazant ruikt voorzichtig aan de trapper van mans fiets. Ik maak er een foto van. Onderweg in de duinen zagen we twee paarden. Zonder zadel of berijder. Althans, ik heb ze niet gezien. 

De zon schijnt, ik installeer me met boek en drank voor het huisje, lekker lezen in ‘Het feest’ van Elizabeth Day. Even later valt er een buitje. Ik struikel naar binnen met boek, wasgoed en mijn glas. Nog geen kwartier later, is het weer stralend. De zon is weldadig met 21 graden in augustus.  

Na het eten, vraagt zoon of ik met hem wil badmintonnen. Hier krijgt hij al snel spijt van. God wat ben ik slecht. ‘Mama, wel je best doen hoor’. Zijn opmerking maakt het treurig, beter dan dit kan ik niet. Gelukkig kan ik hem wel aan het lachen maken. Beetje de clown uithangen in tijden van (sportief) onvermogen. Zoon heeft het niet van een vreemde. De clown uithangen dan, verder is hij een en al sportiviteit. Zijn juf schreef in zijn rapport, hij zat op de kleuterschool, ‘Maarten, je hoeft niet altijd de clown uit te hangen’.

Fietstocht naar het Sluftergebied. De Slufter, Sluftervallei ook wel genoemd, is een grotendeels door duinen omsloten strandvlakte, die in open verbinding met de Noordzee staat, waardoor *een kwelderlandschap is ontstaan. Het pad er naar toe is heuvelachtig met tegenwind. Ik fiets in mijn favoriete versnelling.

Het Sluftergebied is indrukwekkend mooi. Net als de vorige keren. Maarten was drie maanden, lag in de groene kinderwagen, man liep erachter. Hier is een foto van, vandaar het beeld.

De tweede keer was zoon zes. Nu is hij elf. Net lang genoeg geleden om het weer eens te willen beleven. Zoon zorgt voor entertainment onderweg, bovendien kiest hij de route. We staan voor een watertje waar we alleen met natte enkels de overkant kunnen halen. Avontuur is soms nodig. Uiteindelijk maken we een flinke wandeling door de Slufter, door het mulle zand van de duinen, zo richting de zee. ‘Nieuwegein’ schrijft zoon in het natte zand. Niet voordat hij eerst een piemel heeft getekend. ‘Kijk eens, mama’. Op de terugweg rijdt langs ons een wagen met twee paarden ervoor (waar hebben we deze paarden eerder gezien). De vrouw op de bok van de wagen roept streng naar een man met een vlieger: ‘Mag hier niet, meneer’. 

Die avond eten we pannenkoeken in het dorpje Oosterend. Ik wijs naar twee bordjes aan de muur: ‘pas op het opstapje’ en ‘pas op het afstapje’. Ze hangen nog geen dertig cm van elkaar. ‘Als je dan nog op je smoel gaat…’ zegt man. Zoon schiet in de lach, houdt zijn mond met chocomel, met moeite dicht.  

Maarten heeft ‘South Park’ ontdekt. Ik kijk even mee, begrijp de charme. Het getetter van de karakters verbreekt wreed de stilte. Slapen is hier trouwens een surreële ervaring. Doodstil, aardedonker en een bed met dekbed waar je happend naar adem uit wakker schrikt.

Vandaag gaan we naar Den Helder om de laptop van zoon op te halen. Hij zou thuis bezorgd worden, niet handig, kunnen we niet checken of hij het doet voordat zoon straks naar de brugklas gaat. De laptop is naar Primera gestuurd, in een geestdodend winkelcentrum. Zullen we straks naar het onderzeeërmuseum gaan? vraagt man. Het Marine museum is vlak bij waar de Veerboot aanlegt. 

Er zijn verschillende onderdelen, de historische afdeling, een rondleiding in een werkelijke onderzeeër. *De Tonijn’, leest zoon voor, ‘in de Potvisklasse’. Ik denk dat hij een geintje maakt, maar wat weet ik er nou van? Lange, trage rij naar boven. We kijken om ons heen, staan akelig hoog. ‘Dit is waarom ik aan parachutespringen niet eens ga beginnen’ zegt man. Ik knik begripvol. Ieder zijn angsten. Eindelijk zijn we aan de beurt.

‘Achterstevoren het trapje aflopen’ waarschuwt de begeleider. ‘Is het erg smal en laag daar beneden.. ? vraag ik nonchalant, terwijl ik me vast omdraai. ‘Ja’ zegt de man . Dus als je last hebt van claustrofobie, niet doen. het is druk, je kunt er niet zomaar uit’. Dan zie ik er toch vanaf, zeg ik en stap opzij. Man gaat verder, loopt het smalle trapje af het donkere gat in, blijft even hangen met zijn rugzak. Zoon is al binnen, zie nog net hoe hij naar me zwaait. Wacht maar hier, zegt de begeleider, over een kwartiertje komen ze daar uit, wijst hij. Een kwartiertje. Jezus, ik had minstens drie kwartier in gedachten. Te laat.

Tot slot stappen we in de Radarbol. De 3D-radarbol geeft de richting, afstand én hoogte van objecten aan, lees ik. Dus dat ronde ding kan ‘de vijand’ traceren. Het nadeel is dat ze door diezelfde radar zelf ook sneller in het vizier komen. Ik kijk met andere ogen naar de witte bol op het dek van een oorlogschip. De bol lijkt nog het meest op een onaf standbeeld, de ronde gipsen kop nog niet gevormd in het hoofd van een President of zo. Goed, een radar dus.

De Veerboot heeft ook een radar. Alleen niet 3D. En is niet uit op de vijand maar wel op objecten, als de kade, een walvis of een anders schip. Legt man uit in Jip en Janneke-taal.  

‘Er is een Mac in Den Helder’ roept zoon opgetogen, als we na uren weer buiten staan. ‘En het is donderdag’. Man ziet mijn gezicht. ‘Het is een ritueel, daar houd jij toch zo van’. ‘Oké, op naar de Mac’. Ik neem zelfs een Mcflurry toe. De nieuwste met stukjes brownie, toffee en caramelsaus. Ik kan het afraden. De kaart voor Oma? Daar staat een brievenbus, man wijst naar buiten. ik kijk op mijn telefoon, snel! Ik ren de zaak uit.

Rond zevenen staan we weer op de Veerboot terug naar Texel. Vierde keer op de boot in korte tijd. Voelt bijna als routine. Man laat zich zelfs verleiden tot een selfie (‘threesie’).

Zoon en man hebben hun ochtendzwem achter de rug. Ik blijf achter in het huisje, want ik kom elke ochtend als laatste uit bed. Elke keer om half 9, zonder wekker, het tijdstip waarop zij vertrekken naar het zwembad. Anders is het te druk, aldus man. Het voelt als een nederlaag en toch is het iedere ochtend hetzelfde liedje.

Zoon en ik gaan midgetgolfen. ‘Weet je nog, vorig jaar in Saarburg? toen was het 34 graden en nergens schaduw’. Zoon weet het nog. Vandaag is het perfect. 21 graden, zonnig en de bekende (eiland)bries. Bij een baan, slaat hij in een keer raak. ‘Jij kan beter richten, ik sla harder’ aldus zoon. 

We fietsen naar vliegveld Texel. We hebben forse wind tegen. Na ruim zeven kilometer zijn we er. Parachutisten in de lucht. Tandemsprongen worden gemaakt. Kleine vliegtuigen, als in de animatiefilm ‘Planes’ stijgen op en landen. Moeiteloos. Allemaal op hetzelfde veld. Gefascineerd kijken we naar het komen en gaan, als dat maar goed gaat. Het gaat goed. Zouden we zelf willen parachutespringen? Hm… liever niet. 

Zullen we dezelfde route maar terugnemen, hebben we wind mee, stel ik voor. Ja leuk, zegt man spottend. ‘Nee, ik weet iets beters: stukje door, wind tegen, dan naar rechts, wind schuin komen we weer bij de Slufter uit, en dan naar huis, wind mee.’ Bij de Slufter weet man nog een geinig paadje tussendoor. Het is een klimmetje, dat wel. Hijgend kom ik uiteindelijk boven. Stuit op het bord Verboden voor fietsen. ‘Terug’. ‘Welnee’ zegt man en rijdt stug door. Ik pruttel nog wat maar fiets achter hem aan over de wiebelende stenen, duidelijk gemaakt voor wandelaars. ‘Kijk eens naar het uitzicht, gebaart hij. We fietsen tegen beter weten in. Weer een klim, stijl omhoog. Met de fiets aan de hand lopen we omhoog en aan de andere kant weer omlaag. Zoon en man kijken toe hoe ik voetje voor voetje naar beneden loop met mijn fiets. ‘Ik heb sandalen aan, jongens’ roep ik als excuses voor mijn slome geschuifel. Je kunt je handremmen inknijpen, adviseert man. Oh ja, reageer ik, moet hier zo hard om lachen, dat ik alsnog bijna mijn evenwicht verlies.  

We fietsen de laatste kilometers op het heuvelachtige pad van de Slufter naar het huisje, met wind mee. De tegenliggers werken hard, sommige kijken alsof ze moeten poepen of in snikken willen uitbarsten. Meestal pubers.

Mijn moeder is vandaag jarig. Ik denk aan haar. Daarna aan mijn broer die op dit moment, samen met vrouw en kind, zijn uiterste best doet om haar feestje in goede banen te leiden.

Zon. Klein buitje. Weer felle zon. Zoon heeft een voetbaltoernooi(tje). We gaan kijken. Ploegje waarin hij speelt, oranje hesjes, wordt uiteindelijk tweede. Twee kleine jongens zitten bij hem in het team. Ik schat ze zes jaar. Vol vertrouwen rent het mannetje met de bruine krullen over het veld. Hij is niet bang voor de bal en al die grote lijzen om hem heen. ‘Laatste potje: de ouders tegen de kinderen’ roept de bebaarde jongen van het animatieteam, hij draagt zijn petje achterstevoren. Man aarzelt geen seconde. 

Daarna willen we naar de muziek, krijgen zoon niet mee. Hoe we ook aandringen (motiveren), hij wil chillen na deze inspanning. Dan samen. We stappen in de auto. Eerst naar Oudeschild waar vandaag ‘het havenvistijn’ is. Het is druk, kleurrijk gezicht al die vissersboten in de kleine haven. Sommige vertrekken tussen twee kades door richting open Waddenzee. De zon glinstert in het water.

Daarna op naar Strender pop in Oosterend. We gaan op de muziek af. Daar is het terrein, midden tussen de dorpshuizen. We krijgen fluorescerende polsbandjes om. Bedaard staan we tussen het publiek. Om ons heen alle leeftijden. De band die bezig is, klinkt niet onaardig. Amy Macdonalds, met ‘this is the life’ schalt over het veld. Rond zessen zijn we weer terug. We wagen het restaurant op het park. Er is nog een tafeltje. Zoon gaat tussendoor op het springkussen. Sluit het etentje er ook mee af.  Ik lees thuis ‘Het feest’ uit.

We fietsen naar het strand, maken een wandeling langs de zee. Forse wind, fantastische zee, lucht en wat een breed strand. Als we terugkeren, slaat zoon af richting springkussen. Naar zijn vrienden. Ik ga zitten in de zon met een nieuw boek. Het is zomer! Behalve dat dit boek ‘t Hooge Nest’ van Roxane van Iperen, verpletterend is. Wat een aangrijpend verslag. ’s Avonds kijk ik Zomergasten helemaal uit. Maxim Februari. Vriendelijk, intelligent, onderhoudend. Mooie fragmenten, zinnig commentaar.

Op naar Ecomare, wens van zoon. Ik herken alles nog. Zoon ziet de waterspeelplaats, brengt daar veel tijd door. De zeehonden vindt hij de moeite waard, terug in de auto heeft hij al hun namen onthouden. Skinny en Rohan, Boelie en Beer, Michael en Dennis, somt hij op, ‘oh nee, dat waren Bruinvissen’. Bruinvissen zijn geen vissen en ze zijn ook niet bruin. Bruinvissen lijken op dolfijnen, ze zijn beiden familie van de walvisachtigen, maar je ziet zelden een Bruinvis met een boog boven het water uitspringen.

De roggen vind ik de leukste vissen. Een steekt zijn kopje boven het water uit, een plat wiebertje met een lief gezichtje. Zijn kleine ronde kieuwen gaan open en dicht, net ogen die knipperen. Op het allerlaatste moment wil zoon toch de roggen zien. ‘Ik heb er mijn spreekbeurt over gehouden’ verklaart hij.  Als we weer thuiskomen, barst het in alle hevigheid los. Voor het eerst sinds we hier zijn.  

Zoon heeft vrienden gemaakt. Jayden, Daan en zijn broertje. Hij vertelt ons dat hij het broertje van Gerco tegenkwam op het springkussen. Gerco zat bij zoon in de klas. Ooit op zijn eerste feestje geweest. Nooit echt vrienden geworden. Broertje vertelde dat ze ieder jaar naar deze camping komen. Wat een toeval.

Vandaag een fietstocht naar De Koog, we hebben de hele weg tegenwind. Zoon gooit om de paar kilometer, demonstratief zijn fiets in het gras. Hij slaat zijn armen over elkaar, kijkt stuurs en zegt dat hij er nu echt mee stopt. ‘Ik ga terug’. Jij houdt het nog het beste vol, zeg ik hijgend en voel aan mijn natte rug. ‘Je wilt toch niet verliezen van je moeder?’ ‘Ik kan het wel, maar vind het saai’. Saai? echoot zijn vader en gebaart demonstratief om zich heen. Dan stapt zoon toch maar weer op en gaat er als een speer van door. Hij fietst staand. Misschien moet je gewoon blijven zitten, adviseer ik hem later, mijn hoofd gloeit van de inspanning. ‘Blijf jij maar lekker zitten hoor, mama’ zegt hij spottend.

Na een aantal kilometers, houdt hij het weer voor gezien. Weer smijt hij zijn fiets in de berm. Ik wijs naar het bordje De Koog, ‘krijg je daar een ijsje’. Een simpele en effectieve oplossing. De Koog is de grootste badplaats op Texel. Ik loop het boogbruggetje op naar de zee. Altijd fijn om de zee te zien. Ik vind de weg naar het strand vanaf ons huisje, mooier. Kleiner, eenvoudiger.   

Op de terugweg racet zoon keihard op huis aan. Lekker voetballen of naar het springkussen. Daar is hij tenminste onder gelijkgestemden. Hij rijdt een heel stuk voor ons uit. Ik vraag me af of hij nu rechtdoor is gefietst of toch dezelfde weg langs de Slufter, net als wij. Vertwijfeld kijk ik man aan. Wat wou je er aan doen? reageert hij. Ik denk aan de middelbare school waar hij over twee weken op zit, en probeer het los te laten. We hebben wind mee. Veel tegenliggers. Sommige hebben hun fietslamp aan staan. Wat zijn dat voor idioten? vraag ik me af.  

Halverwege staat zoon vast op ons te wachten, bij het restaurant aan de Slufter bijvoorbeeld. Nee, mis. Uiteindelijk komen we bij het park, rijden langs het springkussen. Nee. Ik fiets naar het huisje. Nee, ook niet. Dan komt man aangefietst. Hij is er niet, zeg ik. ‘Jawel hoor, op het voetbalveldje’. ‘s Avonds heeft zoon weer een voetbaltoernooi. Hij kijkt in zijn schermpje. Ja, tijd om te gaan. Snel strikt hij zijn veters, pakt zijn fiets, steekt zijn hand naar ons op.

We zijn op weg naar Oudeschild. Met de auto. De bekende hit van de Beegees klinkt. Ik denk even aan mijn vader. ‘Pa was een van de eersten die deze elpee kocht’. In gedachten hoor ik de trots in mijn broers stem. Ondertussen schiet de natuur van Texel aan ons voorbij. Ha! ha! ha! ha! Stayin’ alive.

Texel 44 staat op de boot. We zijn niet de enigen. De boottocht is op de Waddenzee en zal twee uur duren. Het is windkracht 3. Gisteren nog ruim 5 en de dag ervoor zeker 6. Ik bof maar weer. Het is heerlijk op zee. Felle zon, mooie blauwe lucht met Hollandse wolken. We varen naar Den Helder, richting de marine basis. Ze zijn met oefeningen bezig. Er vaart een oranje, twee persoonsreddingsbootje een tijdje keihard met ons mee. Ze lijken er plotseling te zijn. En net zo snel, zijn ze ook weer verdwenen. We zien een zeebank met zeehonden. Af en toe een zeilbootje of ander schip. Gaaf hè, lach ik naar zoon. Mag ik een ijsje? vraagt hij. 

’s Avonds fietsen we naar De Cocksdorp. Ze hebben er wel 57 pizza’s zegt man opgetogen. We komen aan. Gesloten. Op een woensdagavond? Dan maar een ander restaurant. ‘Pangkoekehuus’. ‘Grappig, zegt zoon, ‘hier wil ik naar binnen’. Op de terugweg, zie ik twee vage lichten in de struiken. Staat mijn fietslicht nou aan? Ik stop. ‘Jongens brandt mijn voorlamp?’ Al fietsend draait zoon zich om. ‘Ja, al dagen, hoezo?’

Laatste dag. Ik wil naar het strand en in de zee zwemmen. Wie gaat er mee? Zoon niet, gaat met zijn vrienden springen en voetballen. Duimpje. Man wil wel mee. Vanaf morgen wordt het aanzienlijk warmer, komend weekend begint een hittegolf. Vandaag nog niet. Man loopt voorbij al het gepeupel voor een rustig plekje aan zee. Drie keer denk ik: Stop dit is een goeie plek. Hebben we profijt van het windscherm dat er al staat. Man loopt en loopt. Eindelijk stopt hij. Inderdaad een rustig plekje. Wel volop wind.

Het is een overweldigende zee met flinke schuimkoppen en een stevige stroming. Godsamme wat koud. Man loopt heldhaftig door zonder twijfel. Ik ogenschijnlijk ook. De ultieme ervaring. Doet me aan vroeger denken. Sommige mensen denken vooruit, ik denk regelmatig terug. Zo vaak zwem ik niet meer in de zee, en zeker niet met man. Ik krijg de slappe lach van zoveel vastberadenheid. Ik ga onderuit door de stroming. Heerlijke afsluiting zo’n laatste dag.

De volgende ochtend staan we op het dek van de Veerboot, op weg naar huis. We kijken naar die prachtige zee, die nooit verveelt, de wind waait om ons hoofd.

‘Ik vond dit de leukste vakantie tot nu toe, zegt zoon. ‘Nou ja, samen met Berlijn dan’.

Word je gearresteerd voor reizen met CBD-olie, of kun je zonder problemen reizen met CBD?

Onlangs werd een vrouw gearresteerd in Disney World (Amerika) wegens het bij zich hebben van een verboden stof: CBD-olie, naar verluidt gebruikt om te helpen bij haar artritispijn. Ondanks zijn legalisatie in 33 staten, is reizen met wiet lastig, zelfs van de ene staat in Amerika naar de andere, waar beide het recreatieve en medicinale gebruik hebben gelegaliseerd. Maar de grenzen worden nog veel vager bij CBD-olie, dat is afgeleid van een chemische component in cannabis en alom wordt aangeprezen als een trendy geneesmiddel voor honderden gezondheidsproblemen. Gelukkig heeft de TSA (Transportation Security Administration, VS) deze week zijn beleid op het gebied van CBD-olie op een belangrijke manier gewijzigd, waardoor reizigers in Amerika nu expliciet is toegestaan om hennep-afgeleide CBD-olie (en enige door de FDA goedgekeurde medische marihuana) voor het eerst in handbagage en een ingecheckte koffer mee te nemen.

Vliegen met CBD-olie die THC bevat, is nog steeds illegaal

Zoals de Points Guy schrijft, moeten TSA-agenten op een luchthaven lokale wetshandhaving inschakelen als een reiziger cannabis bezit, ongeacht hoeveel ze hebben of als ze een medicinale kaart hebben. Dat zou je echter niet tot paniek moeten brengen. "Laten we eenvoudig zijn: TSA-officieren zoeken NIET naar marihuana of andere illegale drugs", schreef TSA op Instagram op hun officiële account. "Onze screeningprocedures zijn gericht op beveiliging en het detecteren van potentiële dreigingen. Maar in het geval dat een substantie marihuana of een product met cannabisinsufficiëntie lijkt te zijn, zijn we volgens de federale wet verplicht om wetshandhaving te melden. " Betrapt worden betekent niet per se dat je wordt gearresteerd voor bezit, het hangt af van je vertrek- en bestemmingsstaten. In een plaats als Oregon, waar cannabisgebruik legaal is, kan het in orde zijn, maar in staten waar het nog steeds een misdaad is, kun je in de problemen komen. "Vorig jaar nam de wetshandhaving in Wyoming het standpunt in dat CBD een gecontroleerde substantie was en het bezit als misdrijf wordt gezien. Dit jaar veranderde de wet, "zei Alex Freeburg van Freeburg Law in een e-mail. "Ik vertegenwoordigde een hulpverlener die twee dagen werd vastgehouden en beschuldigd van een misdrijf tegen CBD-producten die hier gewoon in de winkels werden verkocht." Ook goed nieuws voor sommige CBD-oliegebruikers: vanaf december 2018 werd hennep gelegaliseerd volgens de Farm Bill. Met recente wijzigingen door de TSA mag je nu vrij reizen met CBD-olie die is afgeleid van hennep, wat voorafgaand aan de update op zijn website onduidelijk was. Volgens een verklaring van de TSA aan de Marihuana Movement, werd deze update ingegeven door de behoefte om personen te huisvesten die reizen met Epidiolex, een medicijn dat wordt gebruikt voor de behandeling van epilepsie bij kinderen en dat CBD-olie bevat. Reizen met CBD-olie afgeleid van marihuana blijft echter illegaal. (Het gehalte aan tetrahydrocannabinol of THC is hier de doorslaggevende factor: hennep bevat over het algemeen veel minder THC dan marihuana, wat vorig jaar ook een rol speelde bij de legalisatie ervan). Toch kun je ook in de problemen komen wanneer iemand als een TSA-agent of politieman geen onderscheid kan maken tussen hennepafgeleide en van marihuana afkomstige CBD-olie. Er wordt opgemerkt dat als een TSA-agent je betrapt op een vliegveld in Amerika, je op zijn minst een vertraging bij het binnenkomen van je gate kunt verwachten. Als er vragen zijn over de vraag of een bepaalde substantie illegaal is volgens de federale wetgeving, kan de kwestie ook onder de aandacht van de wetshandhaving worden gebracht, vertelde een woordvoerder van de TSA aan Marijuana Movement.

Misschien kun je ook problemen krijgen op cruises of bij federale landen

Beide Carnival Cruise Lines en Disney Cruise Lines verbieden ook CBD-olie op hun schepen. Het is ook niet toegestaan om cannabis, inclusief CBD, te hebben tijdens een bezoek aan een nationaal park, ongeacht of het zich in een staat bevindt die het gebruik van cannabis heeft gelegaliseerd; deze openbare gronden vallen onder federale jurisdictie. (Van hennep afgeleide CBD-olie blijft waarschijnlijk de enige uitzondering.) En hoewel het heel gemakkelijk is om een tinctuur bij elk soort transport te verstoppen, betekent dat nog niet dat het is toegestaan. Zoals in het geval van de vrouw bij Disney World, waren er mogelijk geen problemen bij het meenemen van haar tinctuur van haar huis in North Carolina naar Florida, maar was ze nog steeds onderworpen aan de Florida-wetgeving inzake recreatieve cannabis. Je moet onderzoek doen naar staten en landen waar je doorheen reist en je bewust zijn van de gevolgen van het vervoeren van cannabis.

Hoe blijf je uit de problemen bij het vervoer in Amerika van je CBD olie?

Wanneer je reist met van hennep afgeleide CBD, onderzoekt je het analysecertificaat van het product en print je het laboratoriumrapport af dat het THC-gehalte bevestigt. Als je problemen ondervindt, kunt je dit aan een TSA-agent of vliegveld -beambte geven.Als je onderweg bent naar een snelweg en een staat doorrijdt waar cannabisgebruik niet wordt gelegaliseerd, bent je nog steeds onderworpen aan de strafwetgeving van die staat.Als je in het buitenland reist, wordt het over het algemeen niet aanbevolen om CBD-olie mee te nemen. Zowel hennep als marihuana kunnen zwaarder gereguleerd zijn op je bestemming en dit kan resulteren in grotere straffen. Het advies is op dit moment dan ook om dit niet te doen. Dag 12. 28 juni, Martijn pak ’m beet 1.150km Marlies 288km

Stroomstoring bij Edinburgh Airport. Het was donker, druk en rustig. Toen er eenmaal weer stroom was stond de vertrek hal vol met passagiers, maar kom security nog niet direct aan de slag. Nadat zij eenmaal weer op gang waren en ik in de gate stond, was het precies vertrektijd voor KL 1280. Maar gelukkig stond i nog keurig voor de deur geparkeerd. De passagier in het vliegtuig mochten, door de storing, het land nog niet in. De douane had het maar druk zo zonder stroom. Ook boarden ging met de hand. Maar uiteindelijk thuis. Ik mag over een paar weken terug om Zwelgje op te halen.

Marlies heeft vast een leuker verhaal…. — Nadat ik Martijn en de GS gedag gezegd had, ben ik begonnen aan de terugreis naar Dover.

Het eerste deel van de dag was een soort ‘Cinderella Trail’. Konijntjes renden naast de motor, er vlogen kleine, gekleurde vogeltjes met me mee en familie fazant stak rustig over. Het landschap was afwisselend. Het ene moment reed ik over een rivier met golven van asfalt, het andere moment vanuit het bos ineens een golf-parcours op. Van lange glooiende bochten in een nationaal park, tot korte hair-pins in kleine dorpjes. Die zijn overigens best interessant als de weg met meer dan 25% stijgt en er om iedere hoek een schaap of koe op de weg kan staan…

In de middag sloeg het weer om, dus regenpak aan en door. De avond heb ik doorgebracht in het sfeervolle Kings Head. Waanzinnig lekker gegeten, echt boven alle verwachting. En daarna tot laat zitten kletsen en lachen met een Engels en Amerikaans echtpaar. Ik kijk nu al uit naar het ontbijt!

Dag 19: SF - Maasmechelen

Morning SF ...... De good lieten we vandaag even achterwege, aan alle mooie liedjes komt een einde, en vandaag dus ook aan onze reis.

We stonden vroeg op om de laatste dingen in onze koffer te proppen en nog even van het mooie SF te genieten, want om 12u moeten we naar de luchthaven vertrekken. Koffers gepakt, kamer nog een laatste keer geïnspecteerd en dan checkten we alvast uit. Tijd voor ons laatste echte Amerikaanse ontbijt.

Na ons ontbijt begeven we ons nog een laatste maal naar Union Square voor enkele last-minute aankopen, waarna we terug naar het hotel waar de supershuttle ons oppikt om ons naar San Francisco Airport te brengen. We checkten met flink wat tegenzin in voor onze vlucht en wat bleek één van onze koffers is te zwaar, hmmmmm hoe zou het komen. Snel nog een position switch en dan mogen alle koffers mee zonder extra kosten.

Deze keer geen marathons om onze vlucht te halen. We hadden ruim de tijd om op het vliegveld rond te wandelen en iets te drinken. De winkeltjes sloegen we maar over, want alle koffers waren propvol.

15 uur lokale tijd en we stegen op. De lange vlucht kwamen we door met een aantal filmpjes en af en toe een hapje en een drankje. Slapen zat er niet in, we hadden namelijk het gezelschap van een baby die echt niet blij was om te vliegen. Hebben jullie al ooit het geluid gehoord van een varken dat wordt geslacht? Awel, deze baby ging daar losjes over.. :-\

Na 11 uur vliegen stonden we terug op Europese bodem en is de reis officieel ten einde. Tijd om een beetje bij te praten met onze families, de koffers uit te pakken en te beginnen aan de was van 3 weken. Met andere woorden back 2 reality.  

Nog een paar leuke facts om onze laatste blog af te ronden:

we reden in totaal 1955,8 mijl oftewel 3128 KM op 13 dagen. 

we bezochten 5 verschillende staten en sliepen op 9 verschillende plaatsen.

het aantal kilo's dat we mee terug naar huis nemen is duidelijk meer dan we meenamen naar de USA. Dit geldt zowel voor onze bagage (Oeps.... iets met Memorial Day kortingen) als voor de lichamelijke kg's ( iets met  hamburgers, pasta's, grote ontbijten, enz... ;-) ).

deze reis kostte ons uiteindelijk ....... 500.000$ .... Grapje, de kost doet er niet toe .... de blijvende herinneringen die we meenemen zijn zo veel meer waard.

Nog een paar dagen bijkomen van onze reis en maandag is het back naar het echte leven. Voor mij een nieuwe start met een nieuwe job en voor Laura back 2 the world van bicky burgers :-).

Why Everest Base Camp Is Popular Than Other Treks In Nepal

The Everest is the tallest mountain in the world so most of the mountain and adventure lovers may have the desire to see the highest mountain in the world and reach the base camp of it. The Everest base camp trek is also popular as the base camp trek among the trekkers although base camps are with another mountain in different regions too. There are so many people during the high trekking and expedition season.

Attractions of the Everest Base Camp Trek

The main attraction which attracts people is the base camp because trekker’s main aim is to be and step on here. Besides the base camp, there are much more other highlights in this trek. The features of the Everest base camp trek have been indicated here:

Exiting Scenic Flight to Lukla

Flying to Lukla from Kathmandu with a small aircraft is an adventure experience to all. The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla takes about a half an hour scenic mountain fight. A short runway with a clip drops downwards and a small hill at the end may make little scary to the people. Flying to Lukla and start the trek is not one and only the way to the base camp but it is a common and popular entry.

Sagarmatha National Park

Sagarmatha Nationa Park is a natural world heritage site of UNESCO.  The national park was established in 1979 and the area of this national park is 1148 square kilometres. The mammals; Himalayan Thar, Himalayan Pikka, wolf, jackal, with endangered animals like snow leopard and musk deer are here in this national park. More than 200 spaces of the birds including Himalayan eagle can be seen around here. Pine, rhododendron, oak, and more with several bamboo bushes are here to hide to the faunas of this national park.

Namche Bazaar

Namche Bazaar is a beautiful village on the way to the Everest Base camp which is like a small mountain city. The view of Kongde Ri, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaroo, Lhotse, Amadablam, Everest, and other high mountains are great to see from the national park army base. There are some coffee shops with bakeries, bars, equipment shops to hang around during a free day when trekkers take an acclimatization day rest. Acclimatization day is not really a rest day, trekkers hike up to the Everest view hotel for attitude practice before going to a higher elevation and enjoy the views. Weekly markets every Friday to mid- Saturday for the public held here where hikers also may visit.

Everest View Hotel

Everest view hotel is on a hill station from where can be seen panoramic Everest Himalaya. This is one of the viewpoints to see the Everest massif and elevation practice. Everest view hotel is running by the Japanese management is like a mountain 5-star hotel. It takes about 2 hours to reach here from Namche bazaar passing one of the highest airport (Syangboche airport). The hike starts after breakfast in Namche than back again by lunchtime.

Tengboche Monastery

Trekking to the base cap is not only an adventure journey; it is a spiritual journey. Mani walls, Mani stones, colourful prayer flags, Stupas, and other Buddhist monuments make the journey sacred and the Tengboche monastery is the main monastery for getting a blessing with the monks before heading to the base camp. The monastery is more than 100 years old with religious aspects.  The Tengboche hill itself is a viewpoint to see mountains; Surrounding with forest all around and open space at the middle offers an incredible view of the Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Thamserku, and more mountain and green hills.

Everest Base Camp

This is the most important and desired destination to the trekkers that’s why they walk about a week not caring any other difficulties facing on the way up. Everest base camp 5364m) stands on the glacier with the ice underneath. The main climbing season to Mt. Everest is in spring so this place will like a high mountain city with colourful tents. Khumbu icefall which the climbers cross to go camping 1 is very close to here. Mt. Everest can’t see from here but other huge snowcapped mountains can be seen. Hikers may forget all the difficult moments before reaching base camp once they arrive here. This is about 5 – 6 hours hiking journey to go and come back from Gorakshep where the lodges for camp are.

Kalapatthar

Kalapatthar (5550 m) is even a dream destination than the base camp for some trekkers because of the view which it offers. 360 degree panoramic Everest Himalaya with valley and glacier lower is really worth to see. The Everest stand just in front of Kalapatthar and Pumori look it has been attached with this hill. Hike to the Kalapathar is not an easy walk but after reaching the top, may realize that why I pay for this with an amazing view.

Beside of these highlights, valleys, rivers, waterfalls, glacial lakes, monuments of the climbers, Sherpa culture, local lifestyle, traditional villages and much more attractions are here on this trek.

Conclusion

Not all people can reach the base camp of the world’s highest mountain. There are thousands of mountains to see and be at the base camp of them but this is the most popular than other treks in Nepal because many people would like to see Mt. Everest. Visiting during the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-December) are the best timings to the Everest base camp.
