NCIS NOLA Series 6+ Beyond

I don't really know too much but please say that there isn't any truth to the 'ncis nola could be in danger' posts I've seen on Twitter? :( I know that some not very nice people (writers/producers?) have been given the sack because of their terrible treatment to others on set but would that endanger our favourite show? D: Or will it get stronger again now the bad 'uns have gone? I hope all the cast and crew are ok. :(

Mind you I don't like nor trust the 'networks'. They murdered CSI and CSI NY (pun fully intended). And they unfortunately make the decisions I think.

5) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Heh. Green Lantern, for sure. Second to that, maybe All That Remains in My War-Ravaged World?

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? Oh, boy. Most of my fics at least end hopefully, I think. Maybe Scientific Method + Markers or Mac + Drugs + Riley + Braids. The ending of Sat Phone + Heat Stroke + GPS makes me happy, but I’m not sure that’s the same thing. :P

7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written? I haven’t yet, but I’ve brainstormed a few. And I’ve definitely slipped in a few names from other fandoms here and there.

8) Do you write smut? If so what kind? That’s a nope from me, dawg.

9) Do you respond to comments, why or why not? [weeps softly] I did respond to all my comments, and the goal is to get back on track. We’ve been having some WiFi issues at my house, and the comments kind of piled up faster than our situation would let me keep up with them. I plan to go back through and respond to all the ones I can. They mean so, so, SO much to me, and I’d hate for anyone to think I don’t care. They make my day. Week. Month.

10) Have you ever received hate on a fic? Not that I recall...I’ve gotten hate for a character in my fics, but hey. We all like what we like, right?

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? I’ve not had a fic stolen (to my knowledge?), but someone stole some of my art a few months ago. Huge thanks to the pocket friends who noticed and let me know!

12) Have you ever had a fic translated? I have not. That would be absolutely rad, though.

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? Ron Khatri was co-created with a slew of magical pocket friends, so I just slipped him into a little oneshot. Beyond that...Stay tuned. :)

14) What’s your all time favorite ship? I really loved Michael + Sara from Prison Break.

15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I had this LaSalle-centric case fic I was working on for NCIS: NOLA. I was SO pumped and the words were flying right up until they weren’t. Now I’m not as deeply into that show as I was, and I’m not sure I’ve got the steam to finish it.

16) What are your writing strengths? Hmmm. I’m pretty comfortable with dialogue and characterization.

17) What are your writing weaknesses? Plot. Clarity. Plot. Finding the balance between trusting the reader to find the emotion and slapping them in the face with it. Did I mention plot?

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I think I’ve only done this once, in The Overstretched Arms of Our Spoiled Hopes. I probably wouldn’t have done it on my own, but I was trying to emulate the style and feel of the book it was based on, so I felt I had to. It was Spanish, which I’m a little more familiar with, but still. Guys, if I butchered it, I am so sorry.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for? Prison Break. I wrote a post-season 5 oneshot involving Michael and Sara at home, settling in, and the aftermath of nightmares in a sketchbook from a friend, and then I tore it out so no one would see.

20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? It’s a toss up between The Overstretched Arms of Our Spoiled Hopes, Sat Phone + Heat Stroke + GPS, I think. I’d be curious to know what your favorites are!

I will never, and I mean NEVER forgive ncis nola for what they did to the LaSalles. Especially Cade. I mean yeah I was obviously very pissed that they killed Chris but Cade shows up in like 2 eps of season 1 then I get excited because I hear there's a Cade story in season 6 then it's THAT.

It's been over a year and I'm still angry

Covid und die Serienbranche - Alles wie immer oder doch ganz anders?

Die letzten Wochen und Monate waren voll von Hiobsbotschaften für Serienfans. Während einerseits gewisse neue Serien bereits verlängert wurden, wurde das bevorstehende Ende von anderen verkündet. Das ist um diese Zeit des Jahres normal - die Upfronts rücken näher und damit auch die Zeit, in denen die US-Networks ihr Programm für die nächste Season festlegen. Trotzdem werden wir das Gefühl nicht los, dass alles ein wenig früher als sonst festgelegt zu werden scheint. Und das ist im Grunde auch so, und es hat mit der momentanen Lage der Welt zu tun - Serien werden frühzeitig verlängert oder ihr Ende beschlossen um den Autoren und Produzenten die Chance einzuräumen entsprechend vorauszuplanen. Das ist keine schlechte Sache an sich, es ist eher gut, eben weil die entsprechenden Staffel- bzw Serienenden vorgeplant werden können, zugleich scheint aber niemand etwas aus 2020 gelernt zu haben - wo ganze Staffeln im Papierkorb geendet sind, weil sich von einem Tag auf den anderen alles geändert hat. Wir leben in Zeiten, in denen sich nach wie vor alles auf einen Schlag ändern kann. Zu weit vorzuplanen ist da mitunter eher ein Risiko als eine gute Sache.

Sei es wie es sei, was uns wirklich bekümmert und erstaunt ist, dass wir uns des Eindrucks nicht erwehren können, dass dieses Jahr (und wohl auch noch im nächsten) einige Serien zu Grabe getragen werden, die eigentlich noch lange hätte weitergehen können/sollen. Und da stellt sich die Frage ob nicht viele davon noch weiter gehen würden, wenn das letzte Jahr nicht passiert wäre. Und die Antwort lautet ziemlich eindeutig: Ja, viele beliebte Kultserien gehen vermutlich wegen Covid zu Ende. Aber genauso gut hätten sie dieses Jahr auch ein Ende finden können, wenn Covid nicht passiert wäre. Man kann das einfach nicht mit Sicherheit sagen, aber abzustreiten, dass Covid ein Faktor war, der das Ende beschleunigt hat, wäre ein Fehler.

Sehen wir uns ein paar der überraschend endenden Serienlieblinge an, die es 2021 ereilen wird:

* Supergirl: Von allen Serien auf dieser Liste, ist das die Serie, wo die Chancen am größten stehen, dass sie vermutlich sowieso nach der 6. Staffel geendet hätte. Melissa Benoists Schwangerschaft ist hier der Hauptgrund dafür, warum sich die Darstellerin gegen eine Vertragsverlängerin entschieden hat. ABER und auch das muss man betonen, wenn die Dinge normal weitergelaufen wären, und man die 6, Staffel so hätte produzieren können, wie es ursprünglich geplant gewesen war, dann wären die Chancen, dass sie für eine verkürzte abschließende 7. Staffel unterschreibt wohl um einiges besser gestanden. Viel mehr hätten wir nicht bekommen, da sie noch nie begeistert darüber war, dass die Serie von L.A. nach Vancouver umgezogen ist, aber die Chancen auf eine 7. Staffel wären ohne Covid auf jeden Fall besser gestanden.

* Black Lightning: Wir wissen immer noch nicht was da eigentlich vorgefallen ist. Gerade die Staffel, die auf die Ereignisse des Jahres 2020 folgt als letzte zu designen, ist erstaunlich. Tatsächlich bin ich genau wie viele andere auch davon ausgegangen, dass 2020 “Black Lightning” mindestens eine fünfte Staffel erkauft hat. Ja, die Quoten waren nie besonders überragend, aber das sind die die von “Dynasty” auch nicht, und “Dynasty” wurde wieder einmal um eine Staffel verlängert. Und ja, sie haben einen potentiellen Spin-Off/eine Fortsetzungsserie in Petto, aber es gibt keine Garantie, dass diese ins Programm aufgenommen wird. Aber dank dem Reboot von “Batwoman” würde The CW seinen eigenen Diversity-Anspruch für sich selbst wohl auch ohne diese beiden Serien erfüllen. Trotzdem ist es seltsam. Mit Staffel 3 hatte sich die Serie endlich gefunden und war an ihrem qualitativen Höhepunkt angekommen. Ist der Grund also, dass jemand wegen Covid aus der Serie aussteigen möchte? Einige Zeit lang sah es tatsächlich so aus, da wir in der abschließenden Staffel weniger Jennifer Pierce zu sehen bekommen werden. Doch wenige Tage später hieß es, dass Thunder und Lightning groß im “Painkiller”-Spin Off gefeatured werden würden. Was verwirrend ist, und eventuell widersprüchlich (oder eben nicht, wenn der Plan ist, dass Jennifer und Kahlil gemeinsam nach dem Backdoor-Pilot in den Spin-Off wechseln, und das der Grund für das Herauschschreiben von ihr aus der Serie ist). Auf jeden Fall kam die Ankündigung, dass die Serie mit Staffel 4 enden würde, während den Dreharbeiten an dieser Staffel, also liegt nach wie vor nahe, dass irgendein Darsteller oder eine Darstellerin möglicherweise Covid bedingt aussteigen wollte, und man die Serie lieber beenden als ohne diese Person weitermachen wollte. Aber wie gesagt wir wissen es nicht. Was wir allerdings sagen können, ist dass wenn Kate Kane “Batwoman” erhalten geblieben wäre, sich The CW niemals getraut hätte “Black Lightning” ausgerechnet jetzt zu beenden. Oder zumindest hätten sie “Painkiller” fix ins Programm genommen.

*Last Man Standing: Diese Serie wurde bereits einmal umgebracht und zwar von Trump (indrekt). Dann wurde sie wiederbelebt. Fand ausgerechnet auf Fox eine neue Heimat, und wird nun nach der neunten Staffel zu Ende gehen (und einem “Hör Mal wer da hämmert”-Crossover). Möglicherweise hatte Tim Allen einfach genug. Möglicherweise war Disney nie ein großer Fan. Möglicherweise hat sich die Serie nie vom Umbesetzten von Mandy erholt. Oder Covid hätte dazu geführt, dass wieder ein Baxter umbesetzt werden müsste, was ein Mal zu viel gewesen wäre. WIr wissen es nicht, aber in diesem Fall ist es am logischten den Schwarzen Peter Disney zuzuschieben. Disney hat nach seinem Erwerb von Fox begonnen das Programm des Senders umzugestalten. Und vermutlich nicht wirklich gewusst, was sie mit “Last Man Standing” auf lange Sicht anfangen sollen. Und immerhin ist Staffel 9 ein durchaus fortgeschrittenes Alter für ein Sitcom. Das die Serie unter der Herrschaft der Maus wohl eher früher als später ein Ende finden würde, war abzusehen. Dass man den Verantworlichen aber auch Zeit und Raum geben würde die Serie zu ihren eigenen Bedinungen zu beenden ebenfalls. Trotzdem könnte Covid gerade bei einer Ensemble Show dazu beigetragen haben, dass es ausgerechnet dieses Jahr war, in dem die Serie ein Ende finden würde, und nicht erst nach Staffel 10.

* Brookyln Nine-Nine: Fans woltlen immer, dass diese Serie wenn schon dann mit der 9. Staffel endet. Jetzt ist nach Staffel 8 Schluss. Das könnte aber gar nichts mit Covid zu tun haben. Immerhin wurde die Serie bereits einmal eingestellt. Dann wurde sie “gerettet”, fand eine neue Heimat. Doch bekannterweise halten sich Serien in ihren neuen Heimaten nicht besonders lange (siehe auch im Fall von “Last Man Standing” oben). Es ist eine nicht zu beantwortetende Frage, ob eine 9. Staffel unter anderen Umständen drinnen gewesen wäre. Vermutlich eher nicht. Allerdings dürfte die Ankündigung sich mit gewissen RL Issues auseinandersetzen zu wollen nicht bei allen auf Gegenliebe gestoßen sein. Genauso wie die Tatsache, dass vorhandende Skripts geschrottet wurden, eben nur wegen diesen Real Life Issues. Solche Aktionen wurden schon anderen Serien zum Verhängnis. Allerdings gibt es keine Nachweise solcher Geschichten für NBC. Andererseits ist gerade NBC ein Sender, der ziemlich großen Wert auf gute Quoten legt. Und die hatte “Brookyln Nine-Nine” nicht wirklich. Deswegen dürfte anzunehmen sein, dass es letztlich die Quoten und nicht Covid waren, die nach drei Staffeln in der neuen Heimat fürs Ende gesorgt haben.

*Mom: Das Ende dieser Serie war in dem Moment besiegelt, als Anna Faris überraschend hingeschmissen hat. Das soll nicht heißen, dass Allison Janney und William Fichtner nicht dazu in der Lage wären die Serie ohne sie zu tragen. Es heißt nur, dass der Ausgangspunkt der Serie endgültig verloren gegangen war. Ohne Mutter/Tochter-Beziehung war “Mom” nicht mehr “Mom”. Der inhaltliche Reboot hat einfach nicht funktioniert. Nach sieben Jahren plötzlich etwas ganz anderes zu machen, kommt selten gut. Gerade in Sitcoms. “Two and a Half Man” konnte dank des Asthon Kutcher-Faktors überleben, aber “Mom” konnte und wollte Anna Faris nicht ersetzen, was gut ist, denn das hätte die Serie sogar noch sicherer gekillt. Aber hat das alles mit Covid zu tun? Wenn Covid der Grund dafür war, dass Anna Faris hingeschmissen hat, dann ja. Aber Gerüchten zur Folge hat es hinter den Kulissen schon länger gebrodelt. Ohne Covid aber wäre sie zumindest ordentlich herausgeschrieben worden oder zumindest in Teilen der 8. Staffel noch anwesend gewesen. Aber selbst wenn sie für eine achte Staffel unterschrieben und diese auch gemacht hätte, und mit dem Ende dieser gegangen wäre, wäre die 8. das Ende gewesen. Aber möglicherweise hätten sie eine neunte ohne sie versucht. Wie auch immer, da wir nicht wissen, warum sie gegangen ist, können wir nur festhalten, dass Covid Schuld sein könnte, wenn das der Grund für ihren Ausstieg war.

*NCIS NOLA: Wieder einmal wir wissen zu wenig um sicher sein zu können, warum diese Entscheidung gefallen ist. Nüchtern betrachtet könnte es viele Gründe geben. NOLA war irgendwie immer das ungeliebte Stiefkind er Franchise, daher wundert es nicht, dass es diese Serie als Erstes erwischt. Und ein Nachfolger scharrt schon in den Startlöchern. Trotzdem ist das Timing interessant, und wir dürfen eben nicht außer acht lassen in welchen Zeiten wir leben. Es dürfte mitunter nicht so einfach sein Szenen in Louisana zu drehen. Und andere Location auf Dauer doubeln zu lassen ist wohl eher teuer. Und vielleicht wollte Scott Bakula die Serie auf Grund der veränderten Lage der Welt verlassen und man wollte nicht mehr ohne ihn weitermachen. Und dann ist das das Skandal rund um das Gerichtsverfahren. War der Image-Sachen für NOLA zu groß um weiterzumachen? Aber das Verfahren bezog sich auf einen Vorfall aus 2017, und die Klage ging unter allem anderen, was 2020 zu passiert ist, ziemlich unter. Trotzdem könnte das der Sargnagel für NOLA gewesen sein. Aber wir wissen es nicht. Die eingängiste Theorie ist die, dass Scott Bakula keine weitere Vertragsverlängerung eingegangen ist. Warum sie uns das dann aber erst jetzt sagen, nun vielleicht haben sie bis jetzt verhandelt. Oder überlegt ohne ihn weiterzumachen. Was immer der Grund für seine Entscheidung ist, vielleicht hätte er die in jedem Fall getroffen. Sieben Jahr sind für eine Action Serie und auch für eine Krimi-Serie eine durchaus normale Laufzeit. Dass die anderen Serien so viel länger gelaufen sind, nun wie gesagt NOLA hatte immer schlechtere Quoten und Kritiken, und hat weniger von sich reden gemacht. Das einzige Seltsame ist der Zeitpunkt der Einstellung. Also können wir vermuten, dass Covid zumindest doch eine gewisse Rolle bei der Entscheidung gespielt hat.

Aber wir dürfen nicht vergessen, dass durch Covid auch Fahrt in viele andere Projekte  - wie die Fortsetzungen von “Dexter”, “CSI”, und “Sex and the City” und sämtliche HBOmax und viele neuen Disney+ Serienprojekte - gekommen ist.

Es gab also Auswirkungen zum Guten und zum Schlechten. Und wie gesagt, oft sind wir vermutlich um nicht viel mehr als eine weitere Staffel umgefallen. Bisher zumindest.

As far as ncis, I do watch the spin offs, though I stopped watching new orleans after season 6 (but I did watch the series finale cause I could) . I'm up to date on hawaii, a few eps behind on the og and la. My mom unintentionally got me into the franchise when I was like 11 (pre nola)

the only reason i can think of waiting until you’re caught up is because Ellie is there and not Ziva but that’s literally the only thing

and it barely matters because it’s the crossover episode
