I adore this shot.

Annabel and Lenore are the center piece of the board so they're the only ones in colour.

Montressor and Duke have their eyes locked because they absolutely loathe each other.

Interestingly, Prospero has his eyes fixed on Annabel instead of the opposition (Because at this point of the story he doesn't fully trust her).

Ada and Pluto are lukewarm. Ada wants to look down on Lenore, Pluto is side-eyeing Prospero (they've got beef that is still yet to be resolved because Pluto felt abandoned by Prospero when he got switched for Morella).

Morella is in the middle, she wants everyone to be friends and doesn't want to pick sides. Everyone looks so pretty. I love it. ✨

(I also realise that Will was present during this conversation but he's not here. 💀 He's not in this shot. Dang. He's the side character of side characters).

I'd imagine all specters translates to cutie marks, though with the right push and pull their special specters would be awakened!! (Lenore is obviously cutie-markless ofc) Though with the base, unicorn, earth pony, and Pegasus would relate to base personality, or hint at their specters. I feel like there would be special cases though were we have Monty's & Pluto's spectre would be permanent (physical appearance-wise) once awakened, where Monty's could be inspired by Lord Tirek, or Pluto being full cat or a hybrid of sorts! (Along w/ Berniece being half pony, half bat) And with Merry + Mourn being the exception, I feel like full on pony pants is a bit niche/looked down upon in the Academy, like you're hiding that your markless A bit more on Merry, Mourn the alicorn! every scene in the comic they seem to be together, so I was like... what if they spent so much time they sort of just fused? (Mourn would be pissed abt how annoying Merry is all the time atp) Plus the whole alicorn name technically doesn't apply with this design, but Mourn could just create magical wings or smth, so its a bit of a reliant system :-]

What I love about this one panel is that Ada doesn't know how to react to the person who reached out to her and validated her feelings not being who she thought. Like Duke has to physically snap to try and bring her back to reality.

Will realizing Monty didn’t, & never will give a shit about him kinda made me feel bad for him THEN Lenore yelling at him until he broke down.. like damn. ..Deserved tho tbh 😭 you are NOT getting away from what u did to Duke 😤

Will’s response when Lenore asked who he was, & he replied “I don’t know.” IS SO INTERESTING Because let’s think about it, Will practically is a NOBODY. He admits this himself. He doesn’t have much of a presence unless he’s talking to Monty. His spectre lets him turn into other people & that’s cool & all but let’s think about WHY his spectre is like this. He’s a people pleaser, naive & just a coward. Turning into other people, wearing their faces is the perfect fit for him. He doesn’t have anything interesting about him, hence the “I don’t know.” He really doesn’t know.

THEN it’s the fact that his spectre doesn’t look like him. All the spectres so far look like what they usually look like when they’re human. Will’s is just.. a bunch of faces 🤔 Makes me curious on who he was in life & how he died tbh. Some ppl say he was an actor but idk!
