HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS!!!!

2023 was such a wild year especially on here! I started writing again and y’all have been so supportive of me and the stories I’m telling! 2023 was the year I became a hockey fan and I never expected to be able to share that love for the sport with people the way that I have. To be able to tell the stories that I’m telling and sharing the things I love is such a blessing and I love you all so much 💚💛🩶 I can’t wait to keep this energy going into 2024, because I have no shortage of stories to write and things to share! I’ll be enjoying watching the Winter Classic today since my boys the Seattle Kraken are playing!! It’s my first Winter Classic and having my boys play is such a great!

For those who are also new to hockey, let’s talk Winter Classic! The Winter Classic is a special game that takes place on New Years Day! It’s the only NHL game that day and is unique because it’s an OUTDOOR game! This year is the 39th outdoor game and the 15th Winter Classic, and it’s between the Seattle Kraken and the Vegas Golden Knights (the reigning Stanley Cup champions) who are the two youngest teams in the franchise. The Golden Knights were formed in 2017 and the Kraken are the youngest, formed in 2021. There are special jerseys for both teams usually inspired by the history of the team and older jerseys. For example, the Kraken’s Winter Classic jerseys are inspired by Seattle’s old hockey team the Seattle Metropolitans that played in Seattle from 1915-1924. For the first time this year, the Winter Classic will be held in a retractable-roof stadium, T-Mobile park in Seattle, home of the Seattle Mariners. In the case of rain (because Seattle is a rainy rainy city) they’ll have to close the roof 🥲
