the university of delaware has a major that i am OBSESSED with called three languages and it’s exactly what it sounds like. you pick three languages and spend your time in undergrad learning them all as comprehensively as possible. as far as i can tell they’re the only university in the whole country that offers something like that and it’s 1000000% what i would want to do if i had infinite money and time. hell i would take one fairly robust language program that i could do as someone who already has a bachelor’s degree (ie not another full 4-year program) and is affordable. but every community college is like. we can offer you. spanish. or. two semesters of french. and those are the only languages. like uuuuuugggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i hate it here.

there are only maybe 5 people i have ever met in the arts in 10 years who is under 50 that knows more art history than me and only a few more that know as much as me so it is wild when anyone tries to come for me art wise. I meet curators and im like “didnt you go to school for like six years on and did other jobs before coming to this position (sometimes, we know how white nepotism works for all jobs) so why do you kinda only know dead white European artists and your few years of concentration and a few Black tokens & nonblack ppl of color tokens and thats it? really?!” like im out here knowing all races art history to some extent and know more Black art history than every nonblack artist currently living off art combined. not exaggerating & there are Black people who know much more than me so like these curators are just gatekeepers and enforcers of the anti-Black ruling class in the arts who don’t actually know much about art and to be quite honest (“i know you girls like to tussle”) if you yourself cannot make art that is really beautiful or moving on its own, i dont think you will ever understand relational aesthetics enough to “curate” anything.

at best, these trendy art group shows are adequate cause these phonies aligned themselves with actually great artists but the shows themselves arent cohesive in their voices.
