Meow Ears Up ep. 4 mini review ✐∗ ˖࣪ ༻

rating 𓄷 8 - Another good episode full of nothing but cringe, and yet I can't get enough of it.

spotlight trope of the week 𓄷 put your head on my shoulder/lap (I'm a sucker for this one, and Faiyen just looked so small and warm) and also the forehead touch (*chef's kiss*)

spotlight actor(s) of the week: Po (Manni) - We didn't get to see much of her this episode, but by far, she stole the show. She's freaking adorable, and I'm already loving her and Jin's dynamic.

Review:

Ok so, not MEU's best episode, some things moved along pretty slowly, and some things were more or less interesting, but nonetheless, this was a good episode that's starting to move the plot along.

At least we got an explanation of why Evan has one facial expression, cause I was about to call him (Bodo) out for having no type of emotion, but I guess it's understandable..? It's very stupid, but this show is about a man and his catboy, so I pass stupidity for normality at this point.

However, Faiyen is the new highlight of my watch. There's just something about him that I can't get enough of, like my heart literally broke for him when Evan had to cancel their plans. I'm interested to see what Evan's reaction will be to finding out he's a cat, probably nothing since he can't show emotion..like literally, his face won't let him. (I can't remember why they can sometimes get rid of their ears, can someone explain that to me again? Cause I thought they said they can get rid of their ears if they're around someone they feel comfortable with, but it might just be vice-versa.)

Jin and Manni are coming around. Manni is just pure bubbles, and I like that Jin is the complete opposite. I got giddy with the accidental closeness trope happened (I'm sorry, it just happens). Manni is such a sweet person who means no harm but seems to catch herself in it every single second. I'm excited to watch Jin take down her walls and open up to Manni, so can't wait to see more of them (so glad this GL couple looks like they might have a decent run time).

God, Dermdem looks so much better with his hair like that now, no more uneven hair extensions. I think it was cute that Meow thought it was a tail, and Dermdem just went with it and patted him on the back as he cried.

I'm excited to see what happens with them both going on a trip together where they have to be in the same bed. Even with it only being the fourth episode, I can't help but love Dermdem and Meow's chemistry, and it was evident when they were both lying on the floor together. For a split second, I thought they were going to kiss, but this is pretty much PG, so I'm really not expecting a kiss until the finale.

Mark?? Mark is in this?? Actually very excited for next week's episode, super stoked to find out how he and Meow know each other. Finally, we'll get some realization about feelings and continue on down this path, hopefully, we'll even get a confession. I didn't realize this series only has 10 episodes, so I hope everything goes as planned and nothing is rushed or incomplete.

I never really noticed they were wearing wigs (Meow and Faiyen) until someone pointed it out. It's not so much a bothersome to me at least, and I caught it today when I was really paying attention to their hair, but it's nothing that is a constant bother. I don't really understand the need for the wigs, maybe to make the ears look more realistic, but I genuinely wonder why they don't just have their normal hair.

A Scene from “OurSelves”

On Purpose

Keaton looked at himself in the floor to ceiling mirror of his dorm room. Six months is a long time, he thought as he looked at his messy hair, his bangs covered his eyes unless he swept them back. He still had his father’s broad shoulders and height. But his pecs has softened into small mounds of chest. His dark nipples were always hard and the sparse chest hair between them and down to the belly that had grown over his abs. He wasn’t sure how to feel about anything anymore. His body had a mind of its own he joked to himself as he turned to the side and saw the two cuts edges, now pink raised skin sliced through the full back piece of tiger ripping its way out of his skin. The ornate piece ran down from his long neck to curves of his round moons of an ass. He looked himself over unaware the door had opened and two sets of eyes were on him. He was grateful his foreskin covered penis had not grown smaller with the added weight.

“I told you he’s a Daddy now,” Tomo said with a good humored smile at the tall, dark man next to him who looked at Keaton with something close to admiration. Keaton’s eyes moved from one man to the other. The feeling of every inch of his body being seen, scrutinized filled him with panic. Like a rattlesnake in a corner of the room he lashed out. Red in the face, bangs swishing over his brown eyes as he shouted curses. His large hands waving and pointing accusingly at the two men he regarded as family. Both seemed unfazed by his outburst. Running with his flaccid penis cupped in his hands to his bed where he grabbed a sheet and covered himself.

“What the fuck do you two want!?” Keaton shouted as his hair flopped in front of his eyes and his cheeks burned with embarrassment.

“Well we wanted to tell you Zhao is Here to pick you up. But clearly I don’t have to since someone couldn’t just wait in the living room.” Tomo trailed off and Death stepped out of the way and the crimson eyed beautiful young man entered the room. The moment Zhao saw him Keaton felt his breath catch in his throat. It was the first time they had been in the same room since the kiss months ago. But now it felt like time had snapped back and the Kiss had happened yesterday. His heart beat wildly inside his chest as he stood there with just the white sheet covering his lower half. He wasn’t sure what to do, whether he should care if Zhao saw him like this. From the form fitting black shirt that seemed painted on the lean arms and chest and washboard stomach, he felt ugly and fat. Had it been six months since he had been able to turn heads in any room he entered.

Zhao took in his nakedness in a curious silence. Death looked at Tomo who was rapt with attention on the scene. He had listened to Keaton’s love sick venting over this man for months. Now that they shared the same air neither knew what to say.

“Do you humans normally stare at each other this long without speaking when they want to Be near each other. Look Keaton’s penis is doing what ours does,” Death said pointing at the growing size able tent in the sheet. His words broke the tension as Zhao turned his back on the tall man who was shouting swear words in Thai. Death looked confused while Tomo grabbed one of his hands and pulled him toward the door.

“Yes that’s what idiots who don’t know how to act do Nong, now Lets go before Daddy gets really mad,” Tomo said giggling loudly as they closed the door.

“You’ve changed.” Zhao finally said in that deep husky voice against the wood of the door of the room while Keaton scrambled to dress. He froze, his white simple cotton boxers half way up his legs and looked at Zhao.

“What do I say?” He asked himself as he focused on pulling them the rest of the way in silence.

“In a good way.” Zhao added but Keaton took it for what it is, empty words. He grabbed a shirt off the floor and pressed it to his nose, smelling it before putting it on.

“You can turn around now.” Keaton said and Zhao did slowly and Keaton stood before him, like a shy, scared child. The shirt was too big and hung over his boxers almost close to the knee. Zhao looks at his thin legs, scars cross cross the dark vanilla skin. He slowly raised his eyes to meet Keaton’s and saw that same vulnerability, that openness.

“I wanted to do it again. On purpose.” Zhao said and those words hit Keaton like a slap to the face.

“Kiss me? Why?” Keaton asked his hand sweeping his hair back from his eyes.

“Do I have to explain it?” Zhao said with an annoyed face, his small nose was red as was his cheeks.

“No you can get out.” Keaton said pointing to the door, Zhao heard the ultimatum in that sentence.

“Six months of thinking of you. I want it to stop. If we kiss, maybe I’ll come to my senses and stop texting you.” Zhao said in a lowered voice. Keaton was quiet, the words sinking in but his mind had already reached conclusion.

“You don’t text me. The text the Meow Hags sent you sent just a emoji and that was four months ago. You don’t care at all. Besides you have a girl. Just leave.” Keaton said looking away from him. Six months of hoping even though he shouldn’t. Six months of hearing things from Death. Of seeing Zhao and Estelle on campus and stewing silently. Crying in the shower, then jerking off in the shower with his own fingers inside himself. He knew it was pathetic, habit he had hoped. Now seeing the man he had longed for wanting to use him as a cure for thinking of him. It hurt worse than being raped ever had. He could feel tears burn at the edges of his vision but he swallowed back his words.

“You’re acting like I owe you something.” Zhao states as he crossed his arms and watched the man before him.

“No, you don’t owe me a goddamn thing.” Keaton said as he walked past the man and out the door since Zhao wasn’t leaving fast enough.

Summary
