i have a lot of opinions about the Octonauts movies- but i’ll keep it a bit short i suppose ^^

Cave of Sac Actun: 9/10

CoSA is actually my number-one favorite Octonauts movie- it centers around Barnacles and Peso and in Barnacles’ past- which makes me a bit happy and sad at the same time. At times the movie doesn’t make sense to me- like when Grouber notices the shaking trees- i’m not really sure how to explain it. But whatever, it is my favorite movie besides that.

Great Barrier Reef: 6/10

This is probably my least favorite movie- I mean, i love the songs- It just gives me the least amount of interest than the other movies do. I love the main character Corey and the song he sings. I actually mostly love all of the songs in the movie, but the plot is just simply: eehhhhhh

Ring of Fire: 8/10

I love this movie a lot- but the mega gupz thing is just eh, I don’t really like it. I like the plot besides the gupz thing, i love how the crew has to face the danger of the ring of fire by themselves - with some company of course. I also don’t like the ending either???? idk, that’s just my tiny opinion i guess.

The comic involves with Octonauts still having to work out the traumatic events on the Ring of Fire so they mostly come to Walton's for a small therapy session.

Note: Somehow Walton taking on as a psychiatrist in the name of Dr. Parker PhD to make money and also help others with any advises and solutions. Side note the way on how the crew react is based on an art made by Timegays on tumblr.

However, while out on the boat when Angel was ten, a huge storm hit. A lightning strike set fire to the boat and killed her father. A gigantic wave hit, throwing Angel and her mother overboard, resulting in the death of the latter.

Angel held onto her backpack in the water and washed up on a deserted island. Six days later, Shellington found her, suffering from hypothermia and a broken leg. Luckily, the Octonauts came to her rescue, but Angel must adjust to life without her family and with an unusual new family, having learned that animals can talk. To make things worse, she's scared of Captain Barnacles.

cant find the post again that mentioned this but the stakes in your average octonauts episode/movie are insane

meteor shower happens and a meteor is about to hit the octopod. they cannot move it, and this meteor is about to destroy their home and livelihood. everything they hold dear will be lost and there is nothing they can do to stop it. its ok tho, fish ate the meteor lol

character gets struck by lightning and gets stranded without a working gup. he now has his paw caught in a giant clam. he cant swim or get his paw out, and is being harassed by a school of barracudas. he is slowly running out of air and if the others cant get to him in time he will die. its ok tho, he finds a stick by chance and pries his paw out lol

a character has been stranded for literal years in the arctic without a radio or any way to contact anyone else. he has been alone and afraid, and his research station is falling into a ravine, and theres nothing he can do to save his lifes work and his home. its ok tho, the octonauts just so happen to find him lol

a venomous cone snail is aboard the octopod and is attacking the crew out of fear. almost all the crew including the captain are out of commission and the only member of the crew who can save the crew and pilot the octopod is the youngest member, a medic, with no formal training in piloting the octopod, who has to try and take care of the crew and find the cone snail, all at the same time. its ok tho, he girlbosses his way through lol

the octonauts are separated, and everywhere that they are is being affected by the eruption of a ring of volcanos all around the pacific ocean known as the ring of fire. their problems range from saving other animals from a volcano to saving themselves from an underwater, flooding maintenance facility. its ok tho, they girlboss their way through lol

Behind the scenes for the names:

Barnacles: Purely going off vibes. “Bernard” seems like a good first name for him, and my idea was that “Barnacles” is a nickname that comes from his surname.

Kwazii: “Hawkins” is after Jim Hawkins from Treasure Island/Treasure Planet. Both stories involve sailing, adventure, and pirates.

Peso: Literally just looked up a bunch of Spanish surnames and decided “Morales” was the best.

Shellington. Looked up several Scottish surnames, and Holmes fit best. Bonus points because in the books, Shellington actually dresses up as Sherlock Holmes.

Dashi: Her last name comes from the Omura’s whale— one of the featured animals in The Octonauts and the Ring of Fire.

Tweak: “Ida” means “work” or “labor” in several languages. “Lagos” is Greek for rabbit or hare.

Inkling: I don’t know. I couldn’t think of a surname for him. He’s like Guianan. No other name. Just Inkling. That’s it.

The Vegimals: Since they are Shellington’s adopted children, they share his last name.
