11th PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON 2020

The PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON has been one of Zurich’s sustainable festivals for performance art in public space for eleven years now, and has become a very important platform for discussion with a view to exchange and dialogue between artists and the public.

The whole cultural life was suddenly shifted to the online platforms, with this tele-presence, the private space had shown itself as a temporary and partly public space. Now we return to the public space with real and direct encounters. In this year’s edition of the PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON is about other experiences, reflections and broader social and political issues, but also about other important questions not only in relation to the art business. Art in public space causes and moves a – not quite everyday – possibility to look at the world we live in with different eyes, to reflect and discuss about it.

Trace Place war eine einstündige interaktive Performance, die gleichzeitig in Neu-Belgrad und im Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Belgrad stattfand. Während des Spaziergangs wird die Künstlerin vom Publikum, das sich im Kunstmuseum aufhielt, durchgeführt. Das Publikum verfolgt ihre Position in Real-Time mit einem ‹ Google Satellite View ›.  Trace Place ist ein komplexes Stück, das Geschichte und Stadtentwicklung Neu-Belgrads sowie Macht und Grenzen der modernen Technik widerspiegelt. Neu Belgrad war lang "Niemandsland" und an der Grenze zwischen beiden Reichen gefangen - Osmanischen Orient und der österreichisch-ungarischen Abendland.

Bei der Performance geht es nicht nur darum von der Entwicklung Neu-Belgrads zu erzählen, auch um einen Vergleich zwischen Neu-Belgrad und Neu-Oerlikon. Das ehemalige Industrieareal zählt zu den grössten innerstädtischen Entwicklungsgebieten der Schweiz.
