(Before continuing on to the movie review this week of āAnnie Hallā, I feel I need to state this. Yes, this is a Woody Allen film. Yes, he is, without a doubt, a scumbag of a human being. However, I throughly enjoyed the movie. This is because separating the art from the artist is a very real thing people can do, no matter how influenced by the artistās life the art was. I and everyone else in my class did the same thing.
As my professor said before the screening: āThis is a film class, not an ethics class; take your scorn elsewhereā. So please do not come to me with anon hate about the fact that I enjoyed this movie. It will be immediately deleted as if you never sent it. (I know most of the regulars around here know not to do that, and know what kind of person I really am, but you never know who might see this š¬)
Anyway! With that disclaimer out of the way, the review is under the cut for those interested! Thank you all for being respectful and chill š)
Another week, another movie in film class! Last weekās āGodfatherā didnāt give me much to talk about, but good golly did this one! This week we watched āAnnie Hallā by Woody Allen, and it was a romantic comedy. Romantic comedies are something I usually donāt watch very often, with the sole exception of āPretty Womanā and a couple of others. But this one had a lot of tricks up its sleeve to keep me interested!
The movie is about the relationship between Alvy Singer-Allen-and the titular Annie Hall-Diane Keaton-as it rises, falls, rises again, and eventually breaks up amicably. Alvyās other relationships are also explored briefly to hammer in the point that he seems to be unlucky in love no matter what. We see this relationship out of order, with their awkward first meeting only coming about a third a ways in. We also break the fourth wall pretty frequently, with fantasy sequences woven in here and there by all characters and frequent asides to the camera by Alvy. In the end, they meet each other one last time for dinner, and the whole thing ends surprisingly poignantly with a metaphor involving love and eggs. Trust me, it was way better than it sounded š
The screenplay definitely deserved to win an Oscar, as itās very tightly written and very funny, if odd and cringe worthy occasionally. What didnāt win an Oscar but was amazing, though, was the cinematography, done by the same dude that did āGodfatherā funnily enough. It really captured what it must be like to fall in and out of love against the backdrop of a big city. The fantasy sequences and asides, very unusual for a romcom, also make it stand out from a crowd and keep you guessing what strange-but-realism-driven thing would happen next. The movie line scene with a cameo by Marshall McLuan (you can look it up if you want) was a highlight!
Iād say itās a combination of what āScenes from a Marriageā and āFerris Bullerās Day Offā must be likeā¦but Iāve never seen either lol
Keaton deserved the Oscar for playing Annie, bringing just enough of her real self into the role to make her realistic but enhancing everything when needed to make her the prototype āmanic pixie dream girlā she is. Some of my classmates thought Alvy was annoying, what with his constant griping and distinctive voice, and I can definitely see why, butā¦I saw parts of myself in both of them. My positive qualities in Annieās free-spiritness and definitely my negative ones in Alvyās anxieties and overthinking. So I canāt bring myself to hate either, or their performances. They truly captured the ānervous romanceā of the tagline!
So, yeah! Overall I really liked this movie! It did a lot of things I didnāt expect a romantic comedy too, and in a good way, too. The burden of how horribly its writer/director/lead actor forked up over the years weights heavy on it, make no mistake, but I think despite that itās aged decently. If you can find it for free somewhere I recommend watching it! Just, yāknow, do what I did. As for me, I will be watching it again as soon as I can find that aforementioned free source lol
Next week is āNetworkā, the origin of the famous āmad as hellā rant! Definitely a very big change from a romcom, but as someone going to school for media and a news reporter myself I canāt wait to see how it is! Iāll be sure to let you all know. In the meantime, hopefully Iāll be on in a few hours to get to threads.
La dee da la dee daā¦seriously I loved Annie. See you all soon!
My mission if thereās ever a 70s day at college is to dress like her in this gif š

Hi, the anon who referred to Thanos as Goofy Grape here!
I just wanted to share this little food for thought, but I was rereading the Crimson Peak novelization a few days ago (the novel points out a lot of things that were left out of the movie ā maybe for time restraints idk) and noticed how Del Toro had depicted codependency as a toxic thing as well as depicting incest as something nasty and vile (as it is) and I can't help but compare it to Loki, which did the opposite to both topics. I am curious to if you had seen the movie and if I am not the only one who notices those themes and the presentation of said themes.
haha goofy grape! Damn, it fits him so well š Hi! š
I love Crimson Peak. It's so good, Guillermo del Toro is a star and Jessica Chastain has my heart, that woman is absolute perfection. I will forever be mad that the film didn't get nominated at the Oscars.
You're absolutely right and it comes to show that you can have dark themes in your movies and series but they can only work if you frame them correctly. That scene of Tom and Jessica making out is so uncomfortable and we're supposed to feel that way but we can also be sympathetic to them because not only Tom gets to talk about it but more specifically we hear it from her.
We see how she controls him, how he never really breaks free from it even after he meets Edith, we understand why she needs him and it's clear she's a villain but even after everything she does I feel uncomfortable calling her that because she's so complex and tragic... is is too obvious that I love her character? š The great thing about it is that we understand them but we hate what they're doing and the control she has on him is never justified and Del Toro doesn't shy away from it: this is incest, it's wrong, it's toxic, there's nothing romantic or cute about it.
They could have had the same in the series and portrayed that co-dependency between Loki and Sylvie as something wrong, something to avoid and they both could have grown out of it as better people, but Waldron just had to go and romanticize it.... way to ruin it, Mikey. You think he has seen Crimson Peak? I doubt it.

this is gonna be my condensed thoughts/feelings as I finally catch up to the most current chapter in bs:a!
@darke15 youāre a genius and I luv youuuu
...
I had to make a new ao3 account after my computer denounced the website šš
ā¦
Okay so from chpts 65-69 Iām high key sweating every two minutes lol
The lying Ghost had to do was insane!! Girl was doing cartwheels dodging Buckyās questions to the point I was so stressed! I feel so bad for themāI canāt imagine the pain of wanting to share something but knowing the repercussions and fear of the outcome.
But so much good/yummy fluff and smut was weaved through so Iām happy haha
āDid you fuck Captain America?ā
āDid you fuck the Winter Soldier?ā
^ honestly has to be one of my favorites š I was squealing lmaoo
ā¦
*this next part is dedicated to chpt. 70. And only chpt. 70.*
Exc-UUUSE MEEEE?! Did you wake up and decide on violence, Darke?! Iām IN TEARS. AGONY. DANNY OH MY GOD. I CANT DO THIS. I REFUSE. NO. NOO. NOOOO.
Wow goddamn if that hurt me I canāt imagine how much that hurt you when you wrote this scene. I mean Danny?!? Babes Iām withering in pain, full tears.
ā¦
Chpt 71. What in the HELL IS GOING ON. So many people are getting hurt?! Dune, my loves. The whole team. Iām terrified for this chapter.
Oh my god Wraith is throwing Ghost under the bus as a HYDRA sleeper agent š«£ what is HAPPENING RN
OKAY NOW WAIT HOLD ON WHAT THE FUKKK
DARKE
My GOD. WTFF.
Ollie?!? OLLIEEE
I was trying to be coordinated when doing this reaction post but NO WAY. NO WAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
Heāsā! And Iām justā!
Oliver whyā!
oh for the love of god š Iām not strong enough for this
I have to say that Wraith being Ollie was a twisty twist I did NOT plan for. Now that heās been revealed oh ā I see it. Like I reread a quick scene from the early flashbacks and it does make so much sense. He and Ghost had some turbulence <literally lol> but I still am blown away. Heās got such a wild anger towards Ghost.
But now some serious concerns. What in the hell, Ollie?? Like heās pretending to act like Danny?! BRO THAT IS MESSED UP.
Kinda glad it wasnāt Danny, tbh?? Maybe Iām crazy but I freaking love that man so much. His character and Ghost have been through so much that Iād hate that for them. Plus I picture Oscar Isaac for godsakes I canāt imagine him as my villain Iām sorry šš
ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦. nOw HoLd Up Is DaNnY aCtUaLly DeAd
OH. OH NO. OH NO. NO NO. NOW THE FLASHBACK IS HURTING ME EVEN MORE.
*I took a week long break from reading after that ššš*
{but also realizing Origins is going into Danny and Ghost soā¦ compromise? *crying continues*}
So, Iām back. Not refreshed ā Iām thoroughly feeling bamboozled and stunned by Oliver. Man, he had me fooled š
Chpt. 72-73 wowowowow!!!
Bucky is so heartbroken ugh. Again. The lies and deceit have wounded him so deeply I hope he can recover when the truth comes out about Ghost and her working with Aftermath and Dune/Alpha Twoā¦
These snippets into Oliverās anger and planning is so terrifying. But thatās also a compliment haha. These scenes are so well done I want to punch him. Like real bad. This was supposed to be their friend and coworker Ollie! Not Ollie the Hydra lover š
Murder!Ghost is coming out to play š !!
But on a serious note, Ghostie needs a break or sheās gonna snap. All that trauma and pain, without time to heal and process, would make any person crumble. I really hope not but she needs a break. Pronto!
ā¦
Chpt 74, oh how I loved this!! So The Big š finally knows the truth. And heās nice and possibly not surprised about Reader being Ghost. Love him. Love him and Boone. God I hope Bucky wonāt hate Ghost too much after this!! [also screaming how cute Boone and Steve are *cries in single*].
ā¦
Chpt 75: I love how you write these team dynamics. Like theyāve been through the worst things imaginable and they still got each otherās backs. Now thatās my found family!!!
The heartbreaking realization [again] of what damage had been done to Olympus and the surrounding area is wild. Having Ghost describe it through her eyes was agonizing. Everything being rubble and yet the memorial stone is standing tall... oof the image :( but at least Turner and the family are alive!!
āIf Ollie wants to play the hero, Iāll give him a villain.ā
-- ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY YESS. This gave me chills ahhhhĀ
[OO and Novak ditching Wraith?! WHAT IS GOING ON]
...
Ā Chpt. 76!
I know Bucky is going through it right now, but at least he realized Ghost loves him. And the slight doubt about Ghost beingĀ āhydraā is giving me life. Slowly but surely the team is finding this odd, but Iām glad Clint is thinking it through. This web that Ollie created is so insane and I canāt wait for the truth to come out!
Even though the next scene showed a badass machine that Ghost can be (and nearly terrified Bucky again *le sigh*) I have hope this will turn around haha. *sweating intensifies*
Plus, even though the whole Stark Tower/Avengers group was in panic during Ghostās takedown of Wraithās base in Kabul, I was thoroughly enjoying that scene <3 Badass Ghostie is fun!
Also Bucky still calls New Eden hisĀ āhomeā so thatās a win, bro!
Ollie calling Ghost anĀ āimpulsive psychopathā... boy, please. We need him to look in the mirror hahaha.
...
So... um... chpts 77-78:Ā
well holy hot damn. I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK. Aināt nobody touching Amma. No. Iād throw hands, Iām sorry haha.Ā Girly, you had me going nuts like Ollie hurt Amma oh my goodddddddd! Boone was so sweet to get Amma the hell out of dodge. I love her with my whole heart, ugh! Ghostās reaction to Amma being missing then reuniting with her had me teary ngl
Ghostās internal monologue in MedellĆn about the team and whoās bullet holes did those belong to was so heart wrenching. Her panic attack?! Holy crap, my heart hurts so badly for her. All Ghostās trauma and pain is really coming to a head with all of this stress and itās making me so sad to see Ghost hurting like this.
āIf sheād fought so hard to get away from them, Bucky could get her backā
ā> hell fucking yes!
The chaos! Bucky loves Ghost, wants to find Ghost, but is going to make it worse if he does because of Oliverās ties to the Avengersā¦.. ugh a month went by and I feel like heās slowly loosing faith in her *cries*
AND YESSSSS THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURY IS GONNA HAPPEN!!!! Jack and Duke are getting married!!!!!!!!!!!! š„¹šā¤ļøš
...
Ahhhhaha! Chpt 79:
I am sobbing. This was so perfect and lovely. I needed this. We all needed this. Darke, you needed this. I feel like I fell in love with these characters all over again. What Ghost said during the ceremony had me weeping. And when Danny is brought up, Iām also crying very sad tears lol. š„¹š
...
*side note: the way you write peter and sam are exceptional! I can really hear their voices come alive <3
** side note 2: just a general declaration that Sam Wilson needs a love interest moving forward in the MCU... like theyāre missing out on this man and Iāll fight Marvel haha šš
ā¦
Yikes! It seems my BA in Communications is not paying off š what a messy reaction post lmao. I cannot communicate to save my lifeeeeee
@darke15ā,Ā I canāt properly explain how much this whole series has me in a chokehold. You are a phenomenal writer and storyteller!! Seriously Iām always in awe what that brain creates š¤ thank you for all that you do, lovely!!Ā

tried to make it a little shorter š«£ idk if i succeeded š«£
imagine choosing a job where you only work evenings and weekends, and you still barely even get paid for it š honestly i love working weekends though, idk what i would do otherwise. watch racing probably, and tbh thatās a sad one to miss out on š but i can always watch the replays!
i just found it funny how carlos felt like choosing the calmest guy on the grid to write about, he had so many ppl attack him instantly š itās like those old tweets of ppl saying oscar is cocky back in dts lmao
i would love to write something about childhood friends to lovers with liam, itās one of my favorite tropes š„ŗ but that daydream is just like so many random thoughts and scenes and justā¦ š«¢ i gotta think of what else of it is share-able shekdhd
blonde oscar!!! bestie i would fall in love all over againā¦ i actually think itās unfair that his hair doesnāt just belong to me. i could be a very good scalp massager? please?
donāt get me started on the tank tops š he knew what he was doingā¦ he was baiting and he knew we would fall for itā¦.. as if the hair isnāt enough?? it is for me š¶ i try to watch freca as much as i can but it doesnāt always fit into my schedule, but i managed to get all of my family gathered around for race 2 in paul ricard a few weeks ago and i still feel proud of it š well either way, itās going to be interesting to see how everything plays out, both on the grid and in my heart š¤
oooo i see!! i feel you on the sleep schedule š«£ the alpha tauri fight is def going to be interesting the rest of this season lmao. cant wait to see it š„°
(well uhā¦ idk how pics work in asks butā¦. ši may enjoy these pics too)
You wonāt and itās alright I love to read your long asks š and appreciate the time you put into it to send me one š„¹
Sounds like a hellhole ngl š oh I work a lot too, like very stressful kinda field and the salary š„“ above average compared to the people around me but itās below average in European standard.. š
I need the weekends off to be able to relax finally (ofc racing doesnāt make it easyā¦ ). Any hobbies tho? You could write a lot if you were off on the weekends š¤·š»āāļø YES! Hopefully itāll be the happy one to watch back š„ŗ
He really saw Oscar and thought imma going to make him angry and yet Oscar gave no fucks and itās so damn funny ššš tried his best at Zandvoort too š
cocky? When? Oscar was in dts?? Iāve never watch it ššš
Iām most like enemies to lovers but childhood friends to lovers could be so cute too š„ŗš„ŗ those are the best tho, need a little brainstorming but from random thoughts born the best fanfics imo š« you can always send me a message if you donāt want things on dash š
Here here I found it!!
Had to go through like 900+ Oscar pics but it was worth it š„ŗlook at him. Isnāt he damn handsome?? Good luck not falling for him again ššso fluffy and soft just lemme touch it š©š©
HE WAS SO READY TO MAKE US ALL GO CRAZY ššš and he acted all innocent and shitā¦ even put on a hoodie one in a whileā¦ such a teaseš«£ he has such gorgeous hair too, itās unfair š©š© Yeah, Iād not fit into mine either, thatās why I stopped watching it. There was a weekend last year when I watched three series at the same time š hated when sessions overlapped each other š
was it a chaotic weekend? Who are your fav Freca drivers? They must be literal babies š«£ oh my!!! What if Liam beats Oscar in your heart? š you better hand the man over to me in that case ššš
Gonna be just over 3 hours today it seems š I still have WhatsApp messages to answer but deffo wonāt do that now š I canāt wait to see how comes up on topš
Uffff Liamā¦. I did notice that he has nice hands back in f2.. š he talks with his hands so itās impossible not to see š®āšØ and since he wears a ring š©š©š© that turns up the sexiness volume a notch š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤ AND THE BICEPSā¦ā¦ ufff heās deffo more buff than Oscar thoš„µ thanks for sharing babe, always appreciated š©š©š©

did you like the first approach with rayan in ul? or would you have liked them to get to know each other differently?
I loved it. The Oscar Wilde quote? š„µš„µš„µ Candy recongzing it and Rayan feeling like they connected almost immediately? The tension? The spark of it?
I kinda understand WHY they went for "first sight love" for his route (despite being one of my least all time favorites types tropes, it only loses for dead girlfriend/wife, my all time hated trope) and it makes sense I guess, Rayan is a very romantic character, every aspect of his route have a very sweet, mellow, almost comedy-movie like type of romance.
But I don't hate how they made it, actually, because Rayan simply didn't created a preconceived image of Candy from the start, he actually took his time to let her know him and to know her better, that's why he kept asking permission and finding excuses to be around her - so much so that he was ready to drop his job at Anteros just to stop being her professor and not having to sneak around with her all the time.
I often read other's people head canon about alternative scenarios of them meeting, but I don't think, for Rayan's character and for the proposition of his route (like the type of route that he has) that the outcome or even the way he would behave would be any different in the end - like you can switch the place and he would still fell for her at first sight, because it's within his character, it makes sense, it's just the way he is.
Maybe since I have been invested in the canon so much I can't really see how I would change it?
I like how simply it is too, no elaborated scene, no twist, very out of their control, very destiny-like, that's also why his route work so well - because in the end of the day, it wasn't just sexual tension, it was he genuinely fell in love with her and despite all things against his feelings, in the end he chose her and it could only be her in his eyes (very "Pride and Prejudice" of him even šš).

TWW REWATCH: Shibboleth (2.08)
ā¢ previously on the west wing: letās all say our names, again! that usually means the episode theyāre doing doesnāt draw on past episodes but if thatās the case they should just start with the title card? Theyāve done that in the past so I donāt get it š¤·š½āāļø
ā¢ god my brain could not figure out if this was a thanksgiving episode and it is!
ā¢ oh my god yessss the turkeysss š
ā¢ āCJ handles all the...birds.ā
ā¢ ok unrelated to this episode but Leo says heās spending thanksgiving with the first family and I really wish we had more scenes with Bartletās family I get thatās not the main focus of this show but it wouldāve been nice to see his daughters a little more particularly Ellie and Liz ok thatās all Iām saying on that
ā¢ āWeād prefer to watch football rather than listen to a history of the yam in Latin.ā
God I hate football so much Iād rather take the history of the yam
ā¢ itās funny cause the blinds in CJs office are open and Carol was already there so how did she not see the birds in the office? š
ā¢ oh just kidding she already knew
ā¢ I love Donna running up āwait wait wait wait wait wait Iām coming!ā
ā¢ actually this whole scene with CJ and Donna is gold
ā¢ gOD THIS IS RHE KNIFE EPISODE ???? FUCK IVE LITERALLY FORGOTTEN THIS ENTIRE EPISODE EGOD SDAMMIT
ā¢ itās so unrealistic that CJ doesnāt know about the turkey pardoning or any of the thanksgiving traditions she has to do but itās still funny
ā¢ mary marsh!!! blecjhhshdhhs š¤¢
ā¢ āNot now, right now I have you know actual serious work to do.ā
*flashes camera at turkeyās*
ā¢ āTroy, I want you to know it was neck and neck, but Iām giving it to Eric.ā
ā¢ ha I just realized CJs desk is covered with cloth and bird sees everywhere. Also where did she put Gail?
ā¢ Josh and Toby are worried Bartlet will invite them to thanksgiving dinner when he realizes they arenāt really doing anything, and Leo keeps telling them the President doesnāt care what youāre doing, but I feel like it would be in typical Bartlet fashion to invite people to thanksgiving dinner if he knew they were doing nothing. I think the only thing that would stop him is Abbey. Maybe not though.
ā¢ CJs reaction to Toby inviting her to thanksgiving
āItās about damn time you asked me! I have been sitting here for two weeks turning down all kinds of very glamorous invitations from people I like a lot more than you! You canāt just ask a girl at the last minute to just...
āWell if you canāt come...ā
āNo I can come, I can come, I can come!ā
So cute
ā¢ I love how attached CJ gets to the turkeys
āYes and I chose Eric cause Troy doesnāt like to be touched which, surely, weāre not gonna execute him for!ā
ā¢ āMaybe after the ceremony you can get one the fourth graders to come in and show you how to use the intercom.ā
This is, hands down, my favorite Mrs. Landingham line. Itās cracks me up every time. Itās funny but also incredibly savage
ā¢ and then I CRY because the KNIFE and āIām proud of you Charlieā
ā¢ āThey sent me two turkeys. The more photo friendly of the two gets a presidential pardon and a full life at a childrenās zoo. The runner up gets eaten.ā
āIf the Oscars were like that, Iād watch.ā
ā¢ āYou canāt pardon a turkey?ā Oh Donna
ā¢ CJ has to play a lute?! Thatās hilarious
ā¢ wait the thanksgiving speech Bartletās giving talks about how the pilgrims āsought out a place in the new world where they could worship according to their own beliefs.ā and thatās exactly what the Chinese refugees did. Why did I never make that connection....
ā¢ ....bro Iām fucking dumb goodnight

JOJO RABBIT: 10 Thoughts Or Observations
You know it is that time of year when we, the #filmfolks, finally get to be excited about movies without looking like total freaks! Sure thing Bob, it is Christmas season BUT above all else, it is award season (basically your cinephile Xmas season! And things cannot be better as we will now have that big O happening earlier in February - Well ideally it should come in even closer to Christmas considering release date deadline for FYC films is often December 25th...But who are we to judge ;) ) So, anyway, this brings us to today's movie, that, like few others from the festival circuit, will make you ābelieve the hypeā of early award buzz and praisin': Taika Waititi latest oddity or "mischievous comedy" JOJO RABIT.
It is the story of ten-year-old boy Johannes "Jojo" Betzler, portrayed by Roman Griffin Davis set during WII in Nazi Germany. He lives with his mother Rosie (Scarlett Johansson) who is taking care of him by herself while his father is either fighting the war, missing or simply deserted. The thing is Jojo is well, a fanatic his imaginary friend is no other than the fĆ¼hrer himself...But a bonkers and silly version of him played with great irony by the Maori Jew director! Jojo and his best friend ( scene-stealer newcomer Archie Yates) go to a sort of nazi scout camp for kids where they will train to be a good soldier under the "supervision" of incompetent and goofy adults played by Sam Rockwell, Rebel Wilson, Alfie Allen. Of course, there is a twistĀ
#spoiler
He will discover a Jewish girl, Thomasin McKenzie's Elsa, hidden in his house, and his life will be turned upside down as the war his coming to a devastating ending.
Unfortunately for those of us tired of conventional WWII drama & co, or stories, JOJO RABBIT is, in part, and under the coat of fresh and fun paint, deja-vu. However, its other part is like nothing we've seen before, somewhere between action-adventure shenanigans lead by a funky kid like in HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE, and, a movie filled witty banters and deadpan humor like What WE DO IN THE SHADOW. So you can say it a Waititi alright alright alright!Ā
There are so many things to be said about what JOJO RABBIT represents and its theme. It is such an incredibly interesting movie deserving of all praises for its creativity and solid acting. Yet, āOscar speakingā some of us are not really seeing how this can happen even though it is 100% deserving a spot in the spotlight... But a win is somewhat highly improbable (well, stranger things have happenedš
!) We are not so sure how people believe in this possibility especially since it is the kind of movie the āgreen book crowdā might not approve of, just because ššš).Ā
In addition, many were quick to call it an anti-hate movie, and maybe it was designed as such, but it is simply a brilliant satire closer to THE DEATH OF STALIN than a typical anti-hate movie which might be reductive to both JOJO RABBIT and projects that exist with the sole purpose of informing or education about hate and tolerance.
That being said the film surely is a crowd-pleaser and has so much to offer, and after watching it, one would be thinking about so many aspects and things that make it such a unique piece of modern Cinema, timeless yet so contemporary.
So here we go;10 thoughts, observations, or maybe reasons to watch JOJO RABBIT tonight or anytime soon!
1. Fun factor: JOJO RABBIT is a movie that will make you laugh for real š So considering this happens rarely for some of us, thatās GOOD!
Sure, it gets a bit silly sometimes - as in maybe it is rightfully made to also appeal to people like Jojo, 10 years old kids mature enough to understand the concept at play and the bulk of their complexities - but the humor is at the same time very simple and clever too.
2-3. Related: Never thought how fun and funny listening to someone mispronounce āhitelerā and having the guy pointing that same fact could be! Or even the hilarity of witnessing obnoxious "hailing" round and hailing of hitler's name all kinds of cray-cray manner. And all this happening in a easy-going not āoutrage culture ā kind of way! Just a ābon enfantā tone and mild ānazi jokesā type. Who would have thought!
*But please, no matter how tempting it is for caricature purposes, letās not dress up as such for a Halloween or under any circumstance, pretending to be Taikaka in JOJO RABBIT, because no matter how "non-racist" one might be, not so sure the effect will be the same IRL without context, or if people will get it without being rightfully alarmed or distressed.Ā
4. This brings us to much valid criticism of the film depiction of "nice nazi" being dangerous thing particularly in a troubling year like 2019... But if one were to be objective and no anal about everything they will know there is no malicious intent behind JOJO RABBIT.
5. Performance part 1: The kids were absolutely "everything" with Jojo being "the most" and Korgi (aka 'I am just a kid in a fat kid body' dude!) being the best friend ever! Their camaraderie / bromance will warm the coldest-hearted folks! ( and it will make you wanna be a kid again just like you felt after watching GOOD BOYS ;) )
6. Performance part 2: So Johansson attempt at being funny (more like "being fun") was not totally convincing but it works ācharminglyā!
7. Performance part 3: Sam Rockwell back at it again! The lad is yet again playing another morally dubious character/notably racist pos ("but with a heart" they say...So we're supposed to feel empathy for his character, but c'mon, seriously, F that guy he is playing no!?): CHECK ā
8. The visual: Some scenes were actually visually impressive and the musical choice was much appreciated but one can only wish they really went full-blown mode with the psychedelism of it all.
9. The story: Not only "the package" looks interesting and out of the ordinary but the content is also very unique. So, again the creativity of it all is *chef kiss š
10. Taika Waititi. š (might deserve a supporting actor nod, director nod, writer nod, producer nod, and a rad human medal!)
MORAL OF THE STORY: 7.5-8 *****Ā
Highly recommend for all ages and movie taste š
That is all š
