Am I too late for the ship headcanons?? Forgive me I've slept 16 hours today and just woke up an hour ago 😭

Anyways! If we're still doing them... maybe Enonami?? I feel like those two thrive as an enemy "we are not so different, yet are opposites, I must destroy you because you are my natural enemy" type ship and ALSO in despair!Chiaki AUs. I'm rotating them in my brain. Or actually! What about Chiaki and Ryouko? How would they interact? I feel like Chiaki/Ryouko has the potential to make toxic Yuri into even more tragic toxic Yuri, lol.

Headcanon requests never really close! I just start answering more sporadically because I get tired. Such is my way as Guy Who Gets Out Of Bed Maybe Three Times A Day, Max.

Ryoko/DR3!Chiaki does fascinate me in narrative terms because it's like. Two characters who are predecessors to themselves. I am not the version of me people fell in love with. I came first but the audience met me only when I was already dead. My most beloved self is created from me, but it is not me. How much of the collective me is truly myself? And I think that narrative connection provides this fascinating bond you can explore between these characters in a metatextual sense, on top of the existing facets of Chiaki dating the girl who would transform and kill her, and Junko watching over an AI version of the girl that a version of her once loved.

Running from one end of the stage to the other, he responds to the audience’s cheers, egging them on.

His smile dazzles, along with the sweat flying off of him.

Kotobuki-senpai does a final turn and glances at me for a second.

He blows a kiss and the song ends.

The audience bursts into cheers and applause.

When Kotobuki-senpai returns to the wings, he collapses into my arms, breathing heavily.

I quickly support his body and give him a towel and a drink. He leans against the wall and catches his breath.

Reiji Kotobuki: Haaa…. It’s been a while since I’ve been this serious…. Might have even… gone past my limit….

Haruka Nanami: You did great. It was really lovely. Everyone had so much fun….

Reiji Kotobuki: What about you? Did you have fun too?

Kotobuki-senpai asks with puppy eyes.

Haruka Nanami: Of course I did!!

Reiji Kotobuki: I’m glad…. I was already exhausted before that axle turn with the kiss, but I wanted to give you a present.

He smiles sweetly.

Then, all the performers finish their acts.

I wait for the announcement of the results with Kotobuki-senpai side stage.

For this Song Festival, the final score will be determined by counting up the points given by a special jury along with the audience’s online votes.

When the counting is completed, the president appears on stage with an envelope that contains the name of the winner.

If Senpai’s name isn’t in that envelope, I’ll have to leave the agency.

Reiji Kotobuki: Believe. My name is written on that piece of paper. Rei-chan has the power to see through things, so I know.

He holds my hand softly to encourage me.

Haruka Nanami: Yes.

I nod deeply and look towards the stage.

Then….

Shining Saotome: The first prize of this year’s Shining Song Festival goes to….

From a platform, the president rips open the envelope, then takes out the paper with the name of the winner.

Shining Saotome: The winner is… Reiji Kotobuki!!

Haruka Nanami: We… we did it! We won!! Senpai, congratulations!!

Reiji Kotobuki: Thank goodness…. My feelings and your passionate music were conveyed to everyone.

(TL Note: Reiji's choice of words here, "sound of love" (愛の音), are a reference to Aine's name (愛音). Like Reiji explains in chapter 2, Aine's name is written with the kanji of "love" and "sound".)

Saying that, Kotobuki-senpai raises the trophy towards the audience.

At the end of his line of sight… stand Otonami-san and Katagiri-san.

They came after all!

Hearing Kotobuki-senpai’s words, Otonami-san, who previously had his arms folded, raises them high above his head and gives him loud applause.

Then, Katagiri-san also claps with all his might.

Reiji Kotobuki: Everyone…. Really, really…. Thank you so much!!

The cheering starts once again when he bows to the audience.

Ryuya Hyuga: Good job, Nanami, you’ve worked hard.

When I feel someone tap my shoulder lightly, I turn around and see Hyuga-sensei.

Haruka Nanami: Th… thank you very much.

Ryuya Hyuga: You’ve been through a lot. To be honest… I didn’t think you’d make it this far.

Saying that, Hyuga-sensei looks to the stage.

Reiji Kotobuki: What’s wrong, Kouhai-chan? You look surprised.

Haruka Nanami: Well, you said “partner” ....

Reiji Kotobuki: That’s right, I want you to continue being my partner from now on. Could it be that you want to partner with someone else? Or that you just don’t want to?

Haruka Nanami: N-no way, I could never do something like that!

I shake my head.

Living like this is so dreamlike. Even though I’m happy with my debut, I want to keep on dreaming.

Reiji Kotobuki: Then all’s good, isn’t it? I also have something else I want to tell him…. “I was able to find such a cute girlfriend.”

He slowly splays his hands across my shoulders.

As I'm dumbfounded, Senpai takes my hand and we run towards the car.

Already in the car, Kotobuki-senpai sighs. Water drops fall from his hair.

The rain hits the windshield like a waterfall and it doesn’t look like it will stop soon.

Haruka Nanami: Achoo!

Ugh… I must be a bit cold….

Reiji Kotobuki: At this rate, you’ll catch a cold. You need to warm up fast…. Let’s find shelter from the rain.

He starts the engine in a hurry.

The place we head to is….

A hotel suite on the top floor.

You can see the sea from the big window that makes up one of the sides. Some chocolates have been placed on the table to welcome us.

The sideboard is adorned with overflowing flowers.

Reiji Kotobuki: I’m glad, you seem to like the room.

Haruka Nanami: Yes, it’s so gorgeous and big, like in a drama. It’s my first time being somewhere like this.

Reiji Kotobuki: I’m happy I can be with you for that first time. Here, a towel. Ah, or did you want to take a shower?

Senpai brings me a towel from the bathroom before I notice.

Haruka Nanami: That’s… you go ahead. I’m fine with going after you.

Saying that, he takes a chocolate from the table and unwraps it.

Reiji Kotobuki: Say “aaah”~

Haruka Nanami: S-Senpai!!

Reiji Kotobuki: Be honest. Do you like me? Do you not like this type of boyfriend?

When I say that and stretch out my hand, he holds it tight and intertwines his fingers with mine.

The drama he was to star in, “Midnight Agent,” also makes a comeback thanks to Katagiri-san’s efforts.

They’re cooperating with Otonami-san to make the background music as well.

Kotobuki…. No, Reiji-senpai’s character, the host and detective “Reiji,” becomes extremely popular and the drama is decided to launch in a prime time slot.

KOKIA in flashback - 2016

The year of 2016 has barely started, but it is already an exciting one for KOKIA as she gives birth to her son Leonardo (Leo for short) on January 13.

Amazingly, KOKIA is already back on the stage in weeks, for her second fully orchestrated concert no less! Later in the year, KOKIA also performs in Shanghai for the first time, and in November, she holds her concert LAYERS. This concert celebrates her 10 years of independence, shorter than her usual concerts but incorporating sounds, lightning, dance and effects in ways she's never done before. The title refers to all the layers of sound and visuals woven throughout this performance.

This is also the year KOKIA releases her first jazz cover album, Watching from above, featuring little Leo on the cover. The album is published by KOKIA's own office, anco&co, and therefore only available via the web shop or at concert venues.

All of the moral ambiguity of a Junko ship with none of the despair! (Or at least with a different brand of despair!)

Actually I take this back a huge appeal of Ryoko/Chiaki is the context it provides for Chiaki’s multiple brutal murders. Ryoko fell in love and Junko used it as a tool to bring herself even deeper down the rabbit hole by punishing her lover for ever coming close to her. And it’s got the bonus of paralleling the relationships between Chiaki and Hajime/Izuru!

And of course, alternatively, AU where Ryoko never regains her memories: taking care of someone on the level that Ryoko requires would force Chiaki to be much more attentive to the world around her. But it’s worth it because she loves her! And that’s cute.

They get along SO WELL in UTDP/Summer Camp. Chihiro’s gender stuff opening Tenko’s eyes is canonical in the world where they know each other. Because they just like each other so much! Chihiro is small and cute and Tenko’s type, and Tenko is buff and loud and Chihiro’s type!! They have their issues but what teens don’t! Tenko forces Chihiro to verbalize her problems and Chihiro helps Tenko think more deeply.

While I’m looking up, a woman arranging receipts behind the display case notices me and gives me a curious look.

???: Welcome. Would you like a lunch box?

The woman asks with a sweet smile.

Her smile looks just like Kotobuki-senpai’s…. She must be his older sister.

Haruka Nanami: Um….

I enter the shop and stand before the counter.

Reiji Kotobuki: I know. This is just to show that I’m really sorry. I didn’t expect you to forgive me with this. I apologize for causing you so much trouble.

Finally, the night before the Song Festival, Kotobuki-senpai brings me back to the dorms in his car as usual.

While we're doing the final checks in the dressing room, Kotobuki-senpai’s phone rings.

Reiji Kotobuki: Ah…. Wrong mail. Guess it really is impossible.

Haruka Nanami: What’s wrong? You’ve been fixated on your cell phone for a while now.

Senpai doesn't normally check his phone that much, but he's been checking it all day today.

Reiji Kotobuki: I invited Hibikin and Ke-chan. I said that I’d like them to come watch, but they haven’t replied, so I’m not sure if they’re coming.

Haruka Nanami: So that’s what it was.

Reiji Kotobuki: I want to shine on behalf of Aine. I’m gonna sing a love song that will reach them and Aine. That’s what I wanted to show them.

Even if they understand each other now, those deep scars they share will not disappear right away.

Time passes quickly and the Song Festival begins.

The Shining Song Festival is one of the biggest events for the agency.

Popular idols affiliated with the agency perform and then those performances are used in a contest and the winner is chosen from among them.

Of course, Kurosaki-senpai, Mikaze-senpai and Camus-senpai are participating as well. They've all prepared wonderful performances.

Eventually, Mikaze-senpai’s song begins to play on stage.

His clear voice belts out a painful love song that fills the venue.

It’s lovely, as expected….

But Kotobuki-senpai won’t lose! Everything will be alright!

If he doesn’t win here, he won’t be able to stay with the agency.

When I remember that, I get a little nervous.

While I’m looking at the stage, I hear a voice coming from behind me.

I turn around and….

Haruka Nanami: Kotobuki-senpai.... Waaah… so cool.

Kotobuki-senpai is standing there in his costume, smiling.

He looks wonderful, sparkling brighter than ever….

Returning for a summer meeting

I haven’t updated in a while, as I’ve returned to Japan.

And just as I was thinking, huh? I haven’t heard the cicadas yet, I heard the cicada chirp for the first time this summer today.

When I hear the cicadas, it gives me the feeling that summer is here.

Have you all been doing well?

I hope so. I’ve been working on my fourth fun album about animals as I think of all of you.

I have some happy news today.

My paid livestream concert ‘History of my pieces’, which had a set list comprised of only songs I’ve done as tie-in songs and went live on June 25, was received favorably, and it was quickly decided to have a rerun.

The rerun will start on Saturday, July 30 at 20:00 JST.

The price for the rerun will be a bit cheaper.

Tickets are for sale on livepocket here.

I have received some questions about it here and there, but unfortunately there are currently no plans for this concert to be sold on Blu-ray or DVD in Japan.

Currently, I’m planning on distribution exclusively through the Chinese online webshop ‘Masadora’, considering my Chinese fans have trouble watching the livestream due to the system used.

If you’ve missed the previous broadcast, I’d be happy if you were to check out the rerun this time.

Of course I want you to enjoy the concert, but I’ll also be sitting behind my computer at the same time watching it, so I’d like it if we got to chat together in the chat.

It will be my birthday soon.

I had been planning on another concert to go along with it, but unfortunately, some plans have gotten delayed...

It’s a bit small, but I’m currently planning on a performance at the ‘otonami house’ as I’d like to have a live ‘music time’ in August.

P.S.: Today I wrote the song ‘Hamster’ (Hamusutaa). One more song to go. Once I’ve written to last song, it’s time to actually record them.

As of the moment, I’ve got... An octopus, crocodile, capybara, turtle, dragon, polar bear, migratory bird, hamster, sea angel... a lineup with a small number of fluffy, cuddly animals. That’s why I’ve been wondering whether to write a song about a bit more familiar next for the final one. Stay tuned!

Diskursus dibalik produk Kebijakan Reklamasi lahan pascatambang

Tulisan ini muncul dari hasil diksusi-diskusi dan bincang bersama teman-teman saya yang juga ikut berkontestasi dalam persoalan kehutanan diantaranya mas Tabah Arif Rahmani dan Agnes Gracella. Studi S1 saya juga dulu mengambil fokus di sini pada aspek silvikultur (sains dan teknik budidaya hutan) dalam implementasinya di reklamasi lahan pasca tambang. Proses reklamasi lahan pascatambang melibatkan banyak stakeholder dan berbagai kepentingan dari setiap stakeholder yang terlibat. Beberapa aktor yang berkaitan dengan reklamasi lahan pascatambang diantaranya: perusahaan tambang sebagai pemegang IUP (Izin Usaha Pertambangan), dan pemerintah dalam hal ini pemerintah daerah dan pemerintah pusat yang membuat kebijakan berupa Peraturan Pemerintan No 78 tahun 2010, Peraturan Menteri Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral No 10 tahun 2014, dan Peraturan Menteri Kehutanan Republik Indonesia No. P.60/Menhut-II/2009 tahun 2009 tentang Pedoman Penilaian Keberhasilan Reklamasi Hutan. Aktor lainya yang memiliki kepentingan adalah LSM, Masyarakat, Lembaga Penelitian dan Perguruan Tinggi.

Fakta lapangan yang terjadi adalah adanya ketidakberhasilan dalam pelaksanaan reklamasi lahan pascatambang, dan kurangnya keberhasilan reklamasi lahan pascatambang, sehingga ini menjadi perhatian untuk ditelaah lebih mendalam. Kajian utama kami dalam kelompok diskusi mendapatkan beberapa rumusan masalah yang menimbulkan potensi terjadinya fakta di atas, sehingga fokus telaah adalah merumuskan kepentingan apa dibalik penetapan kriteria keberhasilan reklamasi lahan pascatambang. Proses reklamasi yang dilaksanakan masih parsial, hanya memperhatikan faktor biofisiknya saja bahkan secara ekologis belum dikategorikan memenuhi seperti disampaikan oleh hasil riset Al-reza (2016), apalagi aspek sosial, ekonomi, sosial, budaya juga belum banyak diperhatikan. Hal ini menimbulkan diskursus berupa kajian dan analisis mengapa kriteria keberhasilan reklamasi lahan pascatambang tidak lengkap, rendahnya komitmen perusahaan, serta belum memperhatikan kepentingan dari berbagai aktor lain agar tercapai hasil reklamasai sesuai peruntukan awal lahan tersebut sebagaimana akad izin diawal yang disepakati.

Beberapa rumusan masalah yang menjadi faktor penyebab timbulnya fakta di atas, diantaranya: adanya unsur nilai dan kepentingan yang dianut oleh aktor yang merumuskan kriteria keberhasilan reklamasi, perbedaan cara pandang dari setiap stakeholder. Upaya perusahaan untuk menekan biaya reklamasi yang tinggi sehingga paramater keberhasilan reklamasi dibuat sesuai kebutuhan aktor yang berperan dan yang memiliki berkepentingan. Aspek sosial dari masyarakat belum diperhatikan karena perbedaan kepentingan dan cara pandang, begitu juga dengan pihak LSM yang berperan dalam advokasi hak-hak masyarakat tidak memiliki power karena sudah diberikan modal oleh aktor lain sehingga narasi LSM bisa dikendalikan oleh pemilik modal terbesar. 

Peran dan rekomendasi hasil riset dari Lembaga Penelitian dan Perguruan Tinggi juga sulit diimplementasikan karena sumber daya di lapangan tidak memenuhi untuk mengikuti rekomendasi tersebut. Terjadi gap antara akademisi dengan aktor di lapangan yang berpandangan saran tersebut terlampau ideal dan membutuhkan biaya besar, sehingga pemegang IUP memilih pertimbangan rasional untuk mengalokasikan biaya pada bidang lain di luar reklamasi. Diskursus ini  mengarah pada dominannya peran perusahaan sebagai pemegang IUP dalam mengimplementasikan rencana reklamasi sesuai dokumen RKTTL (Rencana Kerja Teknik & Tahunan Lingkungan), dan juga pemerintah daerah dalam peranannya mengontrol dan membuat aturan lokal pada pelaksanaan reklamasi lahan pasca tambang. Faktor ekonomi dan politik mengambil sisi dominan sebagai motif utama aktor dalam implementasi reklamasi lahan pascatambang, di mana perusahaan berusaha menekan biaya reklamasi dengan proses reklamasi secara parsial dan didukung kriteria yang tidak lengkap, serta pemerintah daerah yang menggunakan hasil tambang di daerah ini sebagai pendapatan daerah bukan pajak. Secara posisi politik, mekanisme ini akan menguatkan legitimasi mereka sebagai pemerintah daerah yang sukses dalam kebijakan otonami daerahnya.

Proses dan regulasi kebijakan yang bisa memininalisir tindakan dua aktor tersebut adalah dengan pendekatan ekonomi berupa insentif (reward and punishment) pada perusahaan pemegang IUP dan juga pendekatan politik melalui revisi dan penambahan kriteria serta indikator keberhasilan reklamasi lahan pascatambang pada PP No 78 tahun 2010, PP ESDM No 10 tahun 2014, dan P.60/Menhut-II/2009 tahun 2009. Perumusan kebijakannya harus melibatkan semua aktor agar kepentinganya terakomodasi, dan melibatkan ilmuwan dan praktisi atau profesional dari berbagai sektor. Selanjutnya model insentif dapat diterapkan kepada perusahaan yang berhasil dalam melaksanakan reklamasi, diberikan insentif berupa pemberian izin tambahan, dan jika gagal maka harus membayar pajak pada pemerintah sesuai masa berlakunya IUP tersebut, serta membayar denda 3 kali lipat dari total biaya jaminan reklamasi. Mekanisme lain adalah diberlakukannya regulasi pada setiap perusahaan yang akan membuka izin tambang dengan IPPKH, dimana ketika masa izinnya selesai perusahaan diberikan hak dan kewajiban untuk mengelola kawasan hutan tersebut agar berfungsi kembali sebagai hutan sesuai prinsip Ilmu Manajemen Hutan dalam jangka waktu satu periode izin pembukaan lahan tambang untuk mencapai pengelolaan hutan yang berkelanjutan.
