[New Jeans x Oldest Member! Reader] - #3
-imagine.
Tumblr media
Summary: Silly little fics of you and the gorls. You’re basically the tired father figure in their lives.
Warning(s): Cursing, car accident?, bribing a worker?,!crack humor, Hanni has a stalker, you get violent, etc.
A/N: This is like really unserious lmao. I wrote it really lighthearted. Also, this was written over the course of the whole Ador vs Hybe situation. So please understand I’m slowly becoming more unhinged as the story goes.
———————————————————————
#1
You’re strong. I mean physically strong. All of New Jeans, hell, ADOR knows that.
Oh where’s Y/n unnie?; She’s out for a jog.
Unnie is your hand okay?; Yeah, I just had a sparring match today.
That’s just a part of your life.
Fans adore this about you, the girls adore this about you, and today, you’ve come to appreciate this fact too.
Especially when a stalker decided to show his face again at the airport.
It’s been about 2 months since you’ve last seen the man. He went viral on the news (by news I mean Dispatch) for being Hanni’s stalker.
The last time you met him - oh, it was ugly.
He snuck into a performance venue disguised as a staff member. You were the one that caught him lurking near the MC waiting room.
‘Hanni’s supposed to be in there.’
Five. seconds.
That’s all it took for Hanni’s scream to pierce your ear.
The stalker barged into the room, grabbed the girl, and attempted to drag her towards the exit.
You don’t remember much after that scene.
Actually you might remember punching his face something and throwing something him across the wall, but that doesn’t really matter does it?
It mattered alot to Dispatch, who got a hold of the security footage, and decided to share it for the world to see.
The whole situation cause alot of debates of “Oh he’s a stalker. He deserved it. Good job Y/n!” versus “Wow, you didn’t have to get that violent Y/n.”, and in the end, the company decided to put you on a short hiatus and a long scolding from the producer.
Currently, you guys are standing across a crosswalk in front of the airport. The six of you are scheduled to perform in Paris in a few days and decided to get there early to settle in. You all planned a short vacation before having a whole week of dancing after dancing.
So imagine your surprise to see the dirty little freak right between the paparazzis - with a broken camera, might I add - staring at your group.
After acknowledging his presence, you quickly turned to Hanni - hoping that she didn’t notice him yet.
Unfortunately, you were too late.
Hanni’s body was slightly shaking and you could see the fear in her eyes as she stares directly towards the area where the stalker is.
Instinctively, you rushed to her side, and held her waist with your arm.
“I’m not letting him get to you, bub.”
“I.. oh you saw him too?”
“Mm-hm, and I’ll sucker-punch him if he tries to touch you again, alright?”
Hanni giggles, “Nooo, I don’t want you to be stuck in our dorms again!”
“I think it’ll be worth it if I get to break his nose this time, no?”
Minji - overhearing your conversation - butts in.
“Please don’t break anybody’s nose today unnie.”
“I’ll try my best.”
Minji gives you a skeptical look and you give her an innocent smile.
When the crosswalk light turns green, the whole group starts to walk through the group of people, as security tries to make enough room for you guys to pass.
The six of you were just about to manage through the gates when Hanni’s pained scream cuts through the air. You snap your head towards your right to see the same stalker gripping a fist-full of her hair.
And in just a millisecond, a loud crack replaces the girl’s scream.
The paparazzis’ cameras went wild with flashes - all trying to capture how you grabbed the man by his collar and slammed your fist right into his nose. Your pupils were blown wide, piercing right through the stalker writhing on the floor.
“Y/N!!”
Minji was the only one quick enough to snap out of her shock and grab onto you before you could attempt to break anymore of his bones..
Yeah, guess you’re not making it to Paris.

“UNNIE!! Look at this!!”
Danielle happily skips over to the rack filled to the brim with different bunny plushies. You, her and Haerin all decided to go to a state fair that was happening only an hour away from the hotel.
Technically, you were dragged here by the two of them, but that doesn’t matter.
You watched as the girls looked through the pile of plushies while sipping in your smoothie.
‘Is this what parenthood feels like..’
When the two of them finally chose a bunny they liked, they simultaneously looked over to you… expectingly..
“What. Wait. I already bought us food?”
They nod.
“And hats, I bought us three hats.”
They nod, again.
They’re now directly under your nose, giving you those big puppy eyes. Sweat drips down your back, and it’s definitely not because of the Texas heat.
With a exasperated sigh, you reach into your back pocket and take out your card.
“Excuse me, how much for two of those plushies?”
“Oh, so sorry, but those aren’t for sale. You have to win 50 tickets to win two of them!”
The worker gives you a smile and continues helping out a family near the shooting range. When you turn around, Danielle has a clear pout on her face.
“Aww.. I thought I could buy them..”
“Not you, I could buy them.”
“Potato po-tah-to.”
For a moment you think of the choices you have. It’s either waste cash on a rigged shooting range, give up on the plushes, and.. oh.
“Can the two of you get wait in line for the bucket of cookies over there? Here-”
You hand over a 20$ bill. Danielle squeals happily and Haerin finally has a tiny smile on her face. The older girl grabs her hand and runs towards the stand.
As soon as they turn their backs on you, you slither over to the worker again.
“I need the plushies.”
“Wha- oh it’s you again. Look man, we have a policy that we can’t sell the prizes for c-cash.. wha..what is that..”
You quickly tuck a 100 dollar bill into his front pocket and give him an innocent smile.
“Dude, this isn’t a drug deal, I- ugh, fine, I’ll grab you the fucking plushies”
“Thank you :D”
You carry the two bunny plushies in your arms and a giant teddy bear the man gave you in return for a signature to give to his sister.
You awkwardly walk towards your groupmates while balancing the giant furball on your back.
“Y/n unnie!!! Oh my god! What is that?!”
Danielle looks clearly surprised, but you can tell she’s having a hard time containing her smile. Haerin’s trying her best to help you with the teddy bear.
“I.. uh…-holyshitthisisheavy- I hit the jack pot! Yeah, jackpot….”
You give them a toothy grin, not noticing the group of people taking photos of the three of you, and definitely not realizing the absolute fever Twitter is having over the pictures.

“I’m telling you guys, nothing’s gonna happen-”
A loud scream cuts off Minji as a ghost jumps out from the wardrobe.
Hanni and Danielle screams louder than the ghost, and runs into your arms in fear. You turn around to see Minji in the same situation as you - just with Hyein.
“Nevermind…” Minji rolls her eyes as the actor scurries off to a different room.
But her nonchalant behavior doesn’t last long when something under the bed grabs her ankle. She screams and - quite literally - jumps into your arms.
“WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A HAUNTED HOUSE FOR YOUR BUCKET LIST.”
The moment you let down a wide-eyed Minji, Hanni grabs your collar and shakes you; Pretty sure she’s trying to get revenge, but having absolutely no impact.
“Ack- I thought it would be fun..”
“FUN?! YOU THINK GHOSTS AND DEAD PEOPLE ARE FUN???!!!”
While Hanni growls at you with tears in her eyes, Haerin bravely opens the next door, only to be met with a doll dropped right in front of her face.
The shock causes her to let out a scream-
‘My ears are ringing.’
which you never expected from her - and run towards you to use your body as a shield.
“ALRIGHT, you guys stand behind me, and I’ll open all the doors, okay? That way I’m the one being threatened by the next ghoul or whatever…”
The girls nod their heads in unison. Hanni finally lets go of your collar to grip onto your left arm.
You cautiously kick open several doors, trying to find the exit, and on the third try you finally find another long corridor with a glowing exit sign at the end. The 6 of you slowly walk towards it but freezes when the buzzing sound of a chainsaw starting echoes from behind.
You’re the only one brave enough to turn around and see the clown standing in the middle of the room you guys just left.
“Okay, don’t panic but there’s a clown-”
The girls scream in unison as they sprint towards the exit like their life depends on it. You follow suit, and use your body to bust down the last door.
The whole group falls toward the ground together, and the younger girls naturally grab onto you, tightly closing their eyes in fear.
“Um… Congrats…?”
When you see the employee standing behind the counter, you sigh in relief that the haunted house is over.
“Guys, we escaped the house.”
They finally detach from you to take a look around their surroundings.
“Oh! Well that was nothing.” Hanni scoffs confidently, causing everyone around her to let out a deep sigh.

“We got into a car accident.”
“WHAT?!”
You jump up from the bed - almost dropping your phone - and check the contact name again.
“Yeah, I think Haerin unnie has a concussion.”
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.”
You quickly put the phone on speaker and fumble around to find your jacket.
“Yeah.. so since Haerin unnie got her license we decided to take your car out for a drive..”
“Wait, wait- MY CAR?!”
“Yeah, you said we can take it out whenever we want? Anyways, we decided to go to the beach… but the road was really messy, I think my phone is glitched, unnie.”
“HUH?!”
“We kinda went down this hill… blah blah blah… we hit a telephone poll- blah blah….”
“Oh my god.”
You rush out the door to the location Hyein has told you. When you arrive, you spot the girls and your BMW M3 that you recently acquired after begging your uncle for 3 months to sell it to you.
With a quick glance you can tell that - thankfully - the car is only a little scratched up, so you immediately turn your attention to the girl curled up in the driver’s seat.
Haerin’s head is against the handle with both of her arms covering her face. Her knuckles are almost white.
“Hey, hey, you okay?”
The only response you receive is a tiny groan from the younger girl.
“Hyein said you might have a concussion? Can you look at me sweetheart?”
“She’s been like this the whole time.” Hyein chimes in.
“The car can be fixed, it’s fine, just a scratch. But it’s more important to me if you’re fine, bub.”
With that a few seconds of silence passes and you finally get a tiny ‘I’m okay’ from Haerin.
“Alright then, let’s move you to the backseat so I can drive us to the hospital, okay? Hyein, get in the passenger seat.”
“Hell yeah! Shotgun!!”
You carry Haerin to the backseat, but as you try to get her seatbelt on, you finally notice the frown on her face.
“Haerin, I’m not disappointed you guys took my car out. I told you guys you’re free to do that. However, I am upset that you guys weren’t careful and got hurt. Okay? We can talk about that after we check if the two of you are fine.”
“What- me too?”
“YES, YOU TOO. YOU WERE ALSO IN THE CAR!”
Hyein pouts at your disbelief. You sigh and give Haerin a peck on her forehead, and hurry to your seat to get to the hospital.
“Put your seatbelt on bub, I’m speeding to the ER.”
“W-wait, you just told us to be caref-AHHH!!”

Pairings: G!p Fuck girl basketball player Hanni x fem reader!
Word count: 1,4
Warnings: unprotected sex (don’t be silly wrap your Willy), use of aphrodisiac, manipulation, corruption kink, p in v, fuck girl hanni, virgin reader, reader gets called kitty, little bit of teasing, not proofread, and just filthy smut!!
Jwans note: I managed to make this kinda soft🫣🤷‍♀️
—————————————————————————
You hated basketball, and you hated Hanni. Or maybe you hated basketball because of hanni?
Hanni was one of the most popular basketball players in your whole school, and the most arrogant one. She had girls literally flooding her house everyday or all over her in the school cafeteria.
You’ve heard some of the nastiest rumors about her, from the same girls that she has fucked dumb and threw away the next day, it got to the point that there were no more girls to fuck in your school, she had to “re-fuck” and that was one of the things that she hated. She wanted something new and different, not something she already got to have her fun with. She got bored easily and that’s just her habit.🤷‍♀️
You hated her because of her mean attitude and the way she treated the girls after she got to have her fun with them. Well hate is a big word, dislike is more like it.
You never hanged out with type of people like Hanni. She was way out of your league and you liked your own small group of friends. You guys weren’t nerd but you weren’t popular, you guys just had your grades on the top of the list. You cared for your future and career. So after the cute kindergarten crush and date you had, you never went out nor had some kind of hook up in some available room in those frat parties like most people your age did.
You heard the unnecessary rumor in your school, about your friend group being a pack of losers and virgins. You have no idea who spread that information, but there was nothing to deny except the losers part. You honestly didn’t know what was wrong with being a virgin or not having much experience. But still you had to torment the laughing of the mean girls and the laughing of the fuck girls.
Hanni found the thing, quite alluring actually. The idea of fucking a virgin pussy and virgin mouth, didn’t fail to make blood pressure in her cock and also she’d put you in the list of the girls she has already fucked, so it’s a win win situation for her.
But the real question is…How will she get you under her spell?! You were a hard person to impress or to make a move on, so if she acted nice and kind around you, that won’t impress you.She need more smart and easy way to blind you under the sheets.
The teacher has been nagging about her needing a tutor because of the constant basketball practice and the basketball games. So she have been missing out on lots. Hanni recommended you as her tutor, you were shocked that she even acknowledged you, you were gonna deny but the wide smile the teacher gave and the loud “Good choice” she muttered made you change your mind and accept being her tutor. What is the worse that could happen?
Days come and go as fast as wind, and here you are in front of her door, the first tutoring session. Bringing your hand to knock on the wooden surface. You gave two soft knocks, and not long after, a figure stood tall in front of you. She was wearing grey sweatpants and her teams basketball shirt.
You couldn’t help but let your eyes travel down to her crotch, the visible little bump in there. She saw how you eyed her length she gave a little dirty chuckle. “Shall we go inside?”
You gulped before meeting her lust filled eyes and nodded hurriedly. The little look she had on her face, made anticipation burn right under your belly button.
You sat down on her black leather couch crossing your legs and she stood in front of you.
“Do you want coffee, tee or juice?” She asked you heading towards her kitchen, you registered what she said. “Juice is fine!” You answered politely.
You waited for her patiently, your bag on your lap, playing with all of the cool zippers and pockets before her figure came with a tray of what you think is Orange Juice and heart chocolates. You honestly don’t know about this combo of Orange juice and chocolate, but you are here as a guest so you must be grateful for what she offers you.
You took the glass of juice from the tray and took a little sip, she offered you heart chocolates with a little smirk. Your heart told you to not take it but your brain shouted otherwise and you obviously went with your brain.
“Taste these new chocolates, I bought them from a cool shop near here!”
You mumbled a low ‘thank you’ and took a bite from the heart chocolate. “It’s good!” You said with a warm smile on your face. “I know” she smiled back at you, or not a smile, it was more like a grin.
You started the tutoring session, it was going peacefully and perfectly, before you felt your panties soaked, you were so wet that you swore that there is a probably a stain on her couch. But what confused you was,why were you aroused? There was no particular reason for you to be this wet.
You felt that your clit was ten times more sensitive and you felt like a horny rabbit, even the slightest touches of her hand on your burning form was enough to make the most sinful noises come out. She saw how you were biting your lip or stuttering when her knee brushed against yours. The drug finally did it work and she loved seeing you in this vulnerable state.
You tried rubbing your soaked pussy against the couch, but soon stopped due to the noises that threatened to fall. She wrapped her hand on your thigh, dangerously close to your heat.
She started groping and rubbing the soft flesh. And you couldn’t help yourself and you let out a moan, your hand immediately found it way on top of your mouth, your eyes wide at the sound you just let out.
She gave once again one of her dirty chuckles “if you want me to touch you this badly you could just tell me kitty!” Her index and middle finger found it way over your clothed clit and started rubbing it.
“Fuck- baby you have a waterfall down here” your breath hitched, your brain too occupied with pleasure and the feeling of wanting more that you are not processing what she said. She took off your pants and started toying with your soaked pussy, playing with your folds, thrusting her knuckles in then pulling immediately out, or pinching your sensitive pearl.
And suddenly all of her touches were gone. Her sweats were getting too uncomfortable and suffocating for her, with one swift motions her clothing was discarded on the same pile as your pants.
She aligned herself with your walls before pushing in, your virgin pussy suffocating her cock in the most delicious way ever.
“Fuck kitty, your pussy is hugging me so tight.” Her eyes were shut close and yours were too. Your sobs echoed through the room walls, you were desperate for more. Her hips started rocking against yours gently, the head of her cock discovering places nobody has ever visited. She gripped on your waist like she could just collapse any moment, the grip so tight that you are sure there is now a red or purple marks there
“I’m the first and only one who is going to run this pussy” she muttered before her face leaned against yours, her lips swallowing your high pitched moans.
Her pace started being desperate, hammering her hips against yours, sweaty skin slapping sounds echoing, moans and groans the only thing your brain processing. Her lips captured yours, the kiss messy and sloppy, exchanging saliva and her tongues sucking on yours.
Your pussy was now swallowing her length even tighter, “Hanni I-I’m close” you uttered, it was more like a moan but she could understand you.
“M-me too kitty m-me too!” She groaned. Her tips continued abuse made you clench once more around her before your orgasm washed over you, leaving you exhausted. Your first ever orgasm.
You felt your insides being flooded with warm sticky liquid and you realized that she came. She snuggled onto you, her hands wrapping around your exhausted form. And your hands around her neck. You knew that you had to take a shower soon, but you want to enjoy this moment for now.

Like all bad decisions you’ve made in your life, it always starts with Danielle.
“Please,” Danielle begs, standing in the doorway to your room like a toddler who’s waiting to tell their mom that they just vomited. “Just for tonight.”
You glare at her as you pause your TikTok. “I’m not being your designated driver. Catch an Uber.”
Danielle skips toward your bed and flops on it, resting her chin on the palm of her hand and kicking her feet like a kid. She’s putting on this disgusting baby voice. “Please, I’m begging you… I don’t get paid until next week.”
You ignore her and press play on your TikTok. It’s an edit of Asami Sato, and damn, she is so fine. You’re blushing and giggling to yourself until Danielle rudely interrupts you by pulling your blanket to the floor, ridding you of its comfortable warmth.
“What the fuck!”
She pouts. “Please? I won’t ask again.”
“You said that last time,” you give her a blank stare. “And the last last time.”
“Last time was five months ago! And I always make it up to you.”
Danielle rolls over on her back, and her head is heavy on your legs. She begins to poke you.
“Please,” she whines, dragging the word out. You close your eyes as her voice rings in your ears like a mosquito, taking deep breaths to prevent yourself from murdering her.
Danielle is a lovely roommate. She pays her half of the rent on time, she keeps her space tidy, and she always brings you leftovers from the bakery that she works at. Only issue is, she’s a massive social butterfly. Meaning that wherever she goes, there’s always a party — either in your own apartment, or someone else’s.
She keeps trying to explain to you why she’s like this – saying that she’s an “E” for her “MBTD” or “TMDI” or whatever, but you couldn’t care less. All you know is that you want to peacefully rot in your bed.
But, damn, she can be awfully persuasive. Persuasive meaning incessantly pestering you until you give in.
You sigh in defeat. “Get out before I change my mind.”
Danielle sits up at the speed of light and grins.
“I love you so much,” she presses a sloppy kiss on your hand. You wipe your hand on your blanket in disgust. She then skips out of your room humming some song.
As you force yourself out of bed to get ready, you mentally prepare yourself for the night ahead.
Tumblr media
Every time Danielle drags you to one of her parties, you hate her a little more. Which is impossible, because no one hates Danielle. But here you are, cursing her as you stand alone, leaning against the wall, arms folded, and cynical eyes scanning the crowd.
Danielle had practically abandoned you the second the two of you stepped foot in the house, preferring the company of her other friends. You don’t mind of course — this is always the standard drill.
There are the people who are not exactly drunk, just a little buzzed, who are mingling with each other, conversations full of giggles and exaggerated voices. Then, there are the people who are drunk, either dancing sloppily on the floor or passed out. You hear a group of people in the backyard cheering someone on to chug. Lastly, there’s the small group of people who are completely sober, stuck in the same boat as you are.
Okay, so maybe you do mind that Danielle abandoned you. Because you’re stuck here looking like a bitter loner, and in this very moment, you are one. You feel awkward, self-conscious, tired, and extremely bored.
You’re checking your phone for any new notifications (there are none) when you look up and make eye contact with a familiar face for a split second.
You immediately look back down and open Instagram, pretending that you have something to do. You hope she didn’t recognize you. If you can’t see her, she can’t see you, is what you tell yourself.
You hear footsteps approaching you, but you convince yourself it’s just a stranger walking past.
“Hey,” Minji says, a small smile on her face. Nevermind.
“Minji,” you greet her tentatively. “Hi.”
Nothing better than seeing your ex’s best friend for the first time since the breakup that happened three months ago. As expected, she’s taken on the role of the responsible one and is sober.
You mull over the past for a split second — you’ve never seen Minji tipsy, let alone drunk. She’s always been a good friend. It sucks that you guys don’t talk anymore, for obvious reasons.
Minji joins you in leaning against the wall. “How are you?”
“Good. You?”
You’re not curt because you have something against her — you just have no idea how to navigate these types of social dilemmas. There’s no exact rulebook for approaching a conversation with your best friend’s ex, especially an ex who you are still in love with.
“I’m good as well.”
Silence follows after. You fidget awkwardly, pulling out your phone just to stare at the same Instagram feed you were only looking at a few minutes ago. You keep refreshing the feed, but to no avail. You’re staring at the same reel of a cat playing a rhythm game.
“Look,” Minji says. “What happened between you and Hanni—”
Your finger twitches at the mention of her name. You straighten yourself up and rush out an apology. “I gotta go to the bathroom.”
Minji doesn’t stop you as you hurriedly weave your way through the mass of sweaty bodies. You don’t even know where the bathroom is. It takes you a good ten minutes to find it, and it’s surprisingly vacant.
You lock the door behind you. The air is humid inside, and you feel claustrophobic. The lights are dim. You steady yourself by gripping the sink. Hair is sticking to the back of your neck, and your clothes cling to your sweat.
You let out a deep exhale to collect your thoughts before washing your face. You stare at your reflection, and you’re not sure if you like what you see. You’re pale and your eyebags are prominent. You’ve lost the fat in your cheeks that Hanni always used to…
You splash water on your face again. If Minji’s here, then that means Hanni’s definitely here. Fuck, you knew you shouldn’t have come today. You close your eyes as the water drips down your face and back into the sink. It’s been a rough few months.
You grab some tissues to dry yourself and chuck them in the bin before steeling yourself to go back outside. You cautiously creak open the door and peek outside to check if Minji is still there. To your relief, the coast seems clear.
Your eyes scan around the house for a bit longer, searching for another corner to nestle into. And that’s when you see it. Or, more specifically, her.
Hanni’s leaning on the balcony railing, red solo cup in hand, and the moonlight is gently resting on her. There’s someone else with her – she looks familiar but you can’t remember her name. It was either Yunjin or Yeonjung. Or it could be Yeojin.
They’re laughing together, and Hanni’s eyes are crinkling just like you remember, and you remember the sound of her laughter, and how it was a melody that you were proud to bring out, and God, she just looks so pretty. Like she didn’t just go through a breakup.
Then Yunjin/Yeonjung/Yeojin places her hand on Hanni’s waist, and your body goes frigid. You feel hot — anger at first, shame next, and guilt last. And it’s a fiery concoction that burns all over you.
You have no right to be jealous. You force down the lump in your throat and look up at the ceiling until the tears are gone. Fuck. You will not survive the night sober. You take one last glance at Hanni and Yujin/Yeonjung/Yeojin and make up your mind.
You text Danielle: catch an uber, and send her $20 with Apple Cash. She’ll be fine. You hope. Then, you beeline straight to the kitchen, rummage through the cabinets, and help yourself to a small bottle of Jack Daniel’s. Then, you down it.
You grab another bottle of soju from a fridge (peach because it’s the best flavor) to slowly sip on as you settle on some couch. It feels slightly sticky, but beggars can’t be choosers. You know you’ll be too drunk to care in a second — you’re lucky you’re a lightweight.
It’s twenty minutes later that you feel the heat encompassing your body and the tip of your ears burning. You can barely hear the music over the pounding of your own heart. You automatically keel over to the side and relish the coolness of a silk pillow.
You’re mumbling to yourself (and possibly drooling) when you hear a muffled voice.
“Hey, you okay?”
Huh, the voice sounds just like Minji, but you’re too sluggish to respond. A few minutes later, there’s something blissfully cold pushing against your cheek, and then it’s gone. You’re pulled up so that you’re sitting again, and your head lays against the top of the sofa.
“Drink this,” Minji(?) says, and they guide the bottle to your hand. You shakily take a few gulps, and of course, you spill some of it on yourself, but Minji(?) cleans it up with some tissues.
“Thanks,” you mumble.
“Do you have anyone to take you home?”
You try to shake your head, but it makes you feel nauseous and you almost fall face forward off the sofa. Minji(?) luckily catches you and helps you back up.
“I’ll be back,” Minji(?) says. “Stay still.”
You blearily open your eyes, and everything still seems the same. Every movement of your head feels as though it’s in slow motion, like you’re in some kind of TikTok velocity edit, but worse.
People are still mingling, there’s still Boat Race and Beer Pong going on, and the night is still young. Your eyes close shut on their own. Your heartbeat is still as loud as ever.
Clearly, your plan to drink in order to forget about your ex didn’t work, because just a few minutes after Minji(?) has left, you think of Hanni again.
Tumblr media
The two of you met in your first year of university the way most people meet: through a friend of a friend. In this case, the friend of a friend was Danielle. So, in retrospect, at least there’s one thing you can thank Danielle’s amiableness for.
You and Hanni hit it off quite well — both still new and adapting to the unexplored terrain that is university, and despite your initial awkwardness and standoffish nature, you both found an unlikely friendship through your common love for simulation and management games.
(If you scroll all the way back to the top of your message history, it would show your first conversation as you teaching her how to illegally download City Skylines.)
Four months later and after countless movie marathons and one laptop explosion (your Macbook Pro died in flames after you attempted to open the Sims 4 with all its DLCs that you pirated), the two of you officially started dating. The way Hanni asked you out was extremely nerdy, but you think that’s what made it all the better.
You were both playing Minecraft one night, and while you were in the dark depths of a comically humongous cave, Hanni was doing God knows what up on the surface. That’s how it always was: Hanni was the builder and you were the miner. There’s no better dynamic than that.
It was relatively silent for around ten minutes until your curiosity got the better of you. “What are you doing up there?”
“Nothing,” you could hear the smile on her face. “Just building.”
“I know that,” you huffed. “I mean, what are you building?”
A muffled giggle. “Secret.”
You paused your mining. You’d probably see endless corridors of stone and coal in your dreams. “Should I go back up?”
“No!” Hanni quickly exclaimed. “Please, not yet.”
“Alright,” you grumbled, placing down a crafting table to make a new pickaxe. “Hurry up, I’m almost out of food.”
Fifteen minutes later, you heard a meek, “You can come up now”, and then the abrupt sound of her ending the Facetime. You were confused, and you tried to call her back, but to no avail. You spent an embarrassing few minutes trying to remember where the stairs back up were. Eventually, you began the arduous journey back up to the surface, and when you reached the top, your thumb ached from pressing the space key too much.
You saw it immediately. Right next to your cottage was a custom cherry blossom tree with a bench under it. You moved towards it, and a sign caught your attention: “Can we place our beds next to each other from now on? <3”
You laughed to yourself, blushing, and entered the house Hanni made before breaking your bed and placing it next to her pink one. You took a screenshot of this and sent it to her. She replied immediately with a Facetime call back. And that was that.
It was 9 months of this: enjoying each other’s presence, being disgustingly in love and domestic, opening yourselves up to one another… before The End arrived. Maybe you should have seen it coming. You were never good with your emotions though.
(Danielle’s horrified reaction upon seeing your ‘T’ result after that nonsense test she made you do flashes through your mind.)
Even if you did see it coming, would you have been able to stop it anyway?
Looking back now, it was so obvious. The number of dates dwindled down. The dates that did happen, once full of animated conversation and laughter over silly little things, now consisted of half-hearted and dry replies.
Maybe it was your fault. You know how distant you can get under academic pressure, and especially with a course as demanding as nursing, there’s barely any time to yourself, let alone Hanni.
The End happened on a Saturday evening. A familiar rhythmic pattern of knocks echoed through your apartment, and you slowly made your way to the door to greet Hanni.
“Hey,” you smiled tiredly as you leaned against the doorframe. “I missed you.”
With the hand that’s not holding takeaway, Hanni squeezed your hand lightly. “I missed you too.”
You both made your way back inside the apartment. You went to your room and slumped back in your chair, continuing your work as Hanni set up the table for dinner. Even though both your schedules were packed, you were glad that you were able to see her once in a while. It sucked, but it had to be enough, was what you told yourself. Little did you know.
At Hanni’s calling of your name, you remember running your fingers through your hair, closing your eyes for a second and taking a deep breath. A second was the plan. You ended up dozing off right then and there, and Hanni had to come in and shake you awake.
Dinner was quiet, save for the sounds of the clinking of cutlery and the occasional slurp. It had been like this for a while. At least there was background noise with the TV playing on some obscure channel. You wondered when this became the norm. The two of you didn’t even bother to ask about each other’s day, because it would elicit the same response: “Exhausting.”
You swallowed the last of your food and mentally prepared yourself to drop the bomb.
“Hanni,” you started off cautiously. “You know how we’re in second year now?”
She hummed in response, her eyes meeting yours. You missed when it used to have so much life and love in them.
“Well,” you breath hitched. “I start placement soon. And it’s full-time.”
“Oh.”
You both knew it was coming, but you guess it wasn’t something you were both prepared to face. Full-time placement typically ranges from four to six weeks, and the university allocates you a location to work at, usually far from home.
Hanni’s face was unchanging, and you hated this. She used to always be so expressive around you. You would always be able to read each other like a book — that’s how it always was. “How soon is soon?”
You tapped your finger on the desk nervously. “Like… next week type of soon?”
She dropped the chopsticks on the table. “Are you serious? You couldn’t tell me sooner?”
“It’s not that deep,” you hastily defended yourself. “A month isn’t that bad. At this point, it’s normal for us to not see each other for a month anyway.”
Your tone was harsher than you intended, but in the heat of the moment, your pride and your stress got the better of you. But this was the worst mistake you could’ve made, because it all escalated so fast and so wrongly.
Hanni scoffed in disbelief. “You say that like it’s my fault. You’re the one who’s always busy. You’re the one constantly canceling our plans. I’m the only one who’s trying to keep this relationship together.”
“Don’t act like I’m not trying here,” you gritted your teeth. “You know my schedule. All the free time I have, I spend it with you.”
“I can’t believe you’re guilt-tripping me over wanting to spend more time with you.”
“I’m not—” You stopped yourself from raising your voice. “I’m not guilt-tripping you. You should’ve told me how you felt rather than just dropping this all on me today. I’m already stressed enough.”
Hanni let out a scornful laugh. “Oh, you can’t be the one to talk about dropping bombs. And have the past few weeks not been enough of an indication for you? You’re too stressed to notice how we literally act like strangers?”
“You can’t expect me to read your mind!”
“Well, I expect you to at least care enough to notice!”
You threw your hands up in exasperation. “Look—”
She cut you off. “Whatever. I don’t think this will work out. Especially now that you’re practically going MIA for a month.”
“Are you serious?” You spat. “You don’t think our relationship is worth fighting over? You can’t even handle a few weeks?”
The jarring screech of the chair scraping against the floor as Hanni sharply stood up rang in your ears. “I have been fighting. But clearly, you’re too in over your head to see it. We’re over.”
And with that, she stormed out of the apartment with a thunderous slamming of the door.
Tumblr media
You’re crying. You’re still at the party, drunk out of your mind, and you’re bawling your eyes out. You at least have some dignity to force yourself up and stumble outside so that no one has to witness what a horrible mess you are.
You drop yourself against the wall, and you hit your head against it. It hurts like hell, and there’s going to be a bruise tomorrow, and you want to scream so badly. You clench your fists instead, feeling the digging of your nails into your palm, your body racking with sobs as you try to breathe, but it’s too hard.
Tumblr media
You couldn’t even grieve in the first month, because you were on placement. It did provide a temporary distraction from The End, but at night, when you lay in bed, miles away from home, there was nowhere else to run.
You sat with that weight, that feeling of your body closing in on itself. Tossing and turning, you could only rely on completely crying your eyes out until you were so drained that you had no choice but to fall asleep.
All you were left with each morning was the swelling in your eyes and the ache all over your body.
When you finally finished placement, you did what anyone else would do after a breakup: entirely shut the world out. The only time you left was for mandatory classes, which you barely survived. A cap and mask to hide your miserable self was the solution.
In the third month, Danielle somehow managed to lure you out of your room. She offered you some takeaway from your favorite restaurant, and you were surprised that she didn’t pry. You must’ve looked really bad. After that, you gradually assimilated yourself back into normal society and got a grasp of your usual routine.
What hurt most was that it wasn’t hard to live without Hanni, because you had already been separate and distant before you even broke up. The other hardest part was learning how to move on, because it was something you never thought you’d have to do.
You didn’t want to move on though, and although Danielle reassured you that it was fine (you finally broke and told her everything one night when she found you drunk on the couch blabbering to yourself), there was this nagging feeling in your chest that it was the right thing to do.
After all, it was your fault.
Tumblr media
You hear the door of the house open and there are faint voices floating around. “Check if she’s outside.”
Some time passes by before a soft voice calls out your name. This is followed by a few gentle taps on your cheek.
You curl yourself up and turn away from the stranger, your voice small and croaky. “Leave me alone.”
“I’m gonna take you home.”
You shake your head. “I don’t want to.”
A few seconds pass by with no response. You assume mystery person has left, but they speak up again. “Why?”
“I’m sad,” your words come out nasally because of your blocked nose. “I’m really really really sad.”
You hear a sigh before the mystery person sits next to you, a few inches apart. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“I miss my ex,” you whine. “I miss her so much.”
“Um—”
“I want her back,” you continue, slurring your words. “I’m so stupid. So stupid.”
Mystery person listens silently.
“And the universe keeps reminding me of her. Yesterday, I was playing the Sims, and the Sim I made of her burnt my house down. She must really hate me.”
“...You made a sim of her?”
You sniff. “Yes. And I made one of me. And I made us marry.”
Mystery person laughs quietly. The two of you sit there and focus on the muffled music from the party for a few minutes.
“Did you really mean it?” They suddenly ask.
“Mean what?”
“That you want her back.”
The question makes you burst into tears again.
“Yes,” you ramble. “I miss her so much… I want her back… I’d do anything…”
Your voice grows weaker with every passing word. You pass out after a minute of repeating the same thing over and over again.
Tumblr media
You wake the next morning with a killer headache and swollen eyes. Huh, this doesn’t feel too unfamiliar. You’re snuggling yourself deeper into the bedsheets, but then you realize that this is way too comfortable to be your own bed. You blink your eyes open, adjusting your vision, and thankfully the room is dark, otherwise you would’ve been flashbanged.
Oh my god, your mind eventually registers. This is not your room. This is Hanni’s room.
You sit up in shock and horror. It makes you nauseous but you hold it down. How on earth did you end up in her room?
You can hear some shuffling outside the door. Okay, you think. Two options here. Best case scenario: It’s Minji, and you can awkwardly say hi and bye. Worst case scenario: It’s Hanni. There is no current thought as to how you will approach the situation.
Then you hear humming, and just your luck, it’s Hanni.
Okay, you think to yourself again and look out the window, is it possible to survive that jump? (It isn’t.) Your brain runs through hundreds of methods to somehow suddenly die, but none of them are plausible.
Hanni approaches the door, and you quickly hide under the sheets and pretend to be asleep.
She flicks the light on. “I know you’re awake.”
You sheepishly peek out from under the covers.
“Go brush your teeth and shower,” Hanni says. Then, in a smaller voice, as if embarrassed, she continues, “Your toothbrush is still there.”
You stand in the shower, contemplating all of your life decisions that have led to this very moment. You brush your teeth, still contemplating all your life decisions. You consider sending a text to Danielle, something along the lines of: I HATE YOU!!!! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!, but that’s not very fair to her.
You decide on sending a nicer text: hi i hope you got home okay… sorry for not staying sober!
You pace around the bathroom, thinking of what to say to Hanni when you step out. You could just take off and run, but you’re probably not coordinated enough to do that. Guess it’s time to be the bigger person and have a mature conversation.
You take one big dramatic step into the living room of her apartment. Minji isn’t home, it seems. You gulp as you see Hanni, back turned to you as she’s cooking breakfast. There’s already a glass of water and Advil waiting for you on the table.
You wordlessly sit down and gratefully take it. After a while, Hanni sets the table up, and this takes you back to the day of The End. You sit there, frozen, but then she stares at you in confusion and you remind yourself to eat like a normal human being.
“So,” Hanni says after a bit. “Do you remember anything from last night?”
“No,” you fidget in your seat. “Did I do something bad?”
“You said you missed me. And wanted to get back together.”
“Oh,” you swallow.
Hanni tilts her head. You still can’t read her. “Did you mean it?”
You play around with your scrambled eggs. “...Yes?”
She continues to stare at you.
“I did,” you say, a bit more firmly this time, albeit shakily. “And I’m sorry — for everything. I took you for granted… and I should’ve been more considerate of your time and your feelings.”
A pause.
“I’m sorry as well,” Hanni bites her cheek. “I shouldn’t have expected you to know how I felt.”
Another pause. “And I miss you too.”
“Truce?” You offer an awkward smile.
Hanni puffs out her cheeks. “No more last-minute news?”
“No more last-minute news.”
“Spend more time with me? Quality time?”
You nod. “Tell each other how we feel?”
“Tell each other how we feel,” Hanni repeats. Then she says in a serious tone, so serious that you almost don’t believe what you’re hearing. “Buy me Planet Zoo?”
“Buy you… Planet Zoo?”
Hanni swiftly hooks her pinky into yours before you can stop her. “You pinky promised!”
Unbelievable.
“Whatever,” you mutter with a smile.
Planet Zoo is a small price to pay to get the love of your life back.
(“Okay, how drunk was I on a scale of one to ten?”
“Oh, you were so drunk.”
“I said on a scale of one to ten.”
“Like, passed out on the floor, crying, mumbling my name scale of drunk.”
“Okay, not my finest moment. But you were there with Yunjin… or Yeonjung. Or Yeojin. What else was I meant to do?”
“Yujin. It’s Yujin.”
“Oh… Agree to never mention this again?”
“Nope. Love you.”)

you are never going to be enough for anyone.
the last sentence your girlfriend said to you lingers in your mind.
wait, no.
she’s your ex-girlfriend now.
it was the last thing she said to you and the last thing you have heard from anyone since you drowned yourself in the comfort of your bed. you’ve cried a lot. too much to the point you can’t physically cry anymore. it’s like you have run out of tears to let out. your friends have simultaneously come and go to your dormitory room but no one could get over the other side of the wall.
well, at least, not yet.
you know deep inside that you will only allow your best friend to do so but her being MIA for the past few days got you worried, and inevitably hurt.
where did she go? is she sick? or is she just going to abandon you like jinah did?
her absence affects you so much but you don’t have the energy to reach out, adding to the fact that what jinah said to you has affected you significantly.
so, you just wait, albeit the sting on your heart starts to grow into a punch on your heart.
you know your friends are getting worried with the nonstop notifications and ringtones ringing from your phone but you still lay lifelessly on your bed.
it is not that you like jinah that much but the way she took your heart and stomped on that poor thing two days ago hurt you a little bit too much. you hated how you remember vividly the way she slipped out all those words about you being undeserving of being loved, about you being so egoistic that no one would dare to look your way again.
and it is all because of the dare she took from her best friend, who turned out to be one of the suitors you have rejected in the past.
was your rejection too harsh? you don’t think so. you rejected her politely, saying how she is a good person but you are not interested in having a romantic relationship with her. so, why was jinah’s best friend so mad?
or was it jinah who was mad all along?
you don’t know and thinking about the possibilities hurts your head so bad so you shrug it off.
and a soft knock on your door pulls your attention.
“choi y/n?”
the long-awaited voice has finally arrived. you smile bitterly before standing up to open the door for her.
“hey—”
you hadn’t finished greeting her when you got engulfed in a tight hug from pham hanni. reciprocating the hug, you freeze when she lets out a wince.
“han?”
“i’m fine, i’m fine.”
not convinced, you break the hug immediately and the sight in front of you causes you to gasp loudly.
hanni has bandages all over her arms. her left cheek is in the shade of dark purple, most probably from a punch or two.
“w-what happened?”
your sorrow is neglected as worries fill your entire system. knowing that han won’t budge, you immediately yet carefully guide her to take a seat on the side of your bed.
“y/n—”
“who did you beat?”
you say sternly, giving hanni zero chance to change the topic.
“or, should i ask, who the hell beaten you up?”
you let out a grunt when all she did was look away, avoiding your questions like the plague. you are not in a good mood so her act irritates you more than it should.
“if you are not going to tell me, just go.”
that sentence was what you needed to make her look your way again. you know you caught her off-guarded with those words, causing her to panic almost instantly.
“o—okay! i’ll tell you! just…”
her voice dies down but you wait, knowing how she needs some time to rethink her decision and let the silence engulf the room.
“i kinda need a hug…”
you noticed the pained and drained look on her face and immediately agreed in silence as you climbed your bed to lie down before patting the space beside you.
once you think she’s comfortable in her position, you pull her into your embrace. a smile formed on your face when you heard her contented sigh.
“so, the thing is that i was really really mad, and still am, to be very honest, at that damn jinah so i kinda went up to her when i saw her walking outside yesterday.”
“so you throw the punch first, hm?”
you giggle softly when hanni can only let out a whine.
“i mean, she looked so smug at that time i couldn’t hold myself back any more!”
you feel hanni’s grip on your shirt tighten. you love how you can read hanni like an open book and the fact that she only acts like this with you. you keep caressing her silky hair that recently got shorter since she said she wants a change in her so-called dull life, in an attempt to comfort her and yourself.
“oh no, yn…”
you are so surprised by hanni’s words that you pull back from the embrace to ensure she’s fine.
“why? why? are you hurting somewhere?”
you are left confused as hanni buries her face into your neck.
“the one who should do the comforting is me, not you…”
oh.
you are dazed upon the realisation that you forgot about your feelings the moment you saw hanni in front of your door earlier.
“it’s ok—”
you couldn’t finish your sentence when hanni wiggled her way out of your embrace and sat up immediately before looking back at you.
“what did she say to you?”
you stifled your laugh upon seeing her sudden serious face but to be honest, she just looks super cute right now with her lips pursed and her eyebrows so close to each other.
but still, your smile wears down while sitting up when you get taken back to the scene that happened two days ago. when jinah took your heart and stomped it on the ground heartlessly—as if she’s the one being taken her heart away—before throwing out the haunting sentence that filled up your mind.
you didn’t realise how long you were completely quiet until you registered han’s soft and gentle touch on your arm.
“do you want to tell me what happened?”
you hesitate a bit, wary about putting burdens on your best friend’s shoulder.
but the said best friend can also read you like an open book. before you can decline her, she encourages you first.
“just so you know, you won’t burden me with this at all.”
your heart suddenly clenched, your eyes suddenly filled with tears and your head hung low as you bit your lower lips when hanni started caressing your hair.
your resistance has proven weak, especially in hanni’s arms when you started sobbing your heart out while the caressing on your hair gets even gentler than you thought was possible.
“it’s okay, y/n. let it all out. i’m here to catch you. i’m here.”
hanni’s heart breaks when she feels your grip on her shirt tighten alongside your loudened sobs. a tinge of anger seeps inside her heart upon the thought of what jinah had done to make you cry so miserably. even if you won’t tell her what happened, she’ll make sure jinah will pay the price.
“sh-she said that it was all for a revenge b-because i rejected her best friend before.”
you managed to slip it out without stuttering much. you expected hanni to shout her anger like she always does when you’re feeling down because of someone else but all she did was furrow her eyebrows and caress your hair, signing that she’s trying her best to let you let your feelings all out.
“and sh-she said that,”
you gulp your tears down, feeling your heart clenched even harder at the flashback in your head.
“that i will never be enough for anyone…”
the way your voice quietens down hurts hanni’s heart so bad.
“you might not believe me now, y/n but you are more than enough for me”
“how can i be, han?”
you deny weakly. everyone who knows choi y/n know how strong-minded you are, and how you never get wavered by people’s talks. how you always managed to stand straight no matter what fell upon you.
but this time, it hurts you so bad knowing that someone you allow yourself to be vulnerable with thinks of you like that.
“y/n..”
“jinah won't say it if she didn’t mean it, didn’t she?”
“either she meant it or not, she’s so wrong, y/n. you are everything to me, you are enough to be my best friend, you are enough as my listener and you are also enough to be my menace too.”
you smile a bit when hanni ends her assurance with a light chuckle.
“really?”
“yeah.”
“even when i ghosted you for two days straight?”
“it’s understandable, y/n. you were hurt, still are, and it is just right for me to give you space for a little bit.”
the past few days you were so mad at her for not checking up on you when all she was trying to do was to give you space to recollect yourself. a small frown appears upon the disappointment hits you. you were cut off from your thoughts when you felt hanni’s small fingers drawing circles and patterns on the back of your hands.
“what’s wrong, hm?”
“I was so mad at you thinking that you didn’t care about me but it turned out that you care the most…”
your heart breaks a little upon seeing the surprise on hanni’s face.
“oh, y/n… i should have told you first, shouldn’t i?"
you shake your head, disagreeing with her.
“no, no. i should have known better, han. seriously.”
she probably sensed that you are not hiding anything as she proceed to tuck your head under her neck while caressing your hair.
a comfortable silent fills the room, driving you sleepy with the warmth of hanni’s embrace.
"you're not falling asleep on me, are you?"
"uhuh..."
you try to force your eyes open for just a little while but the sleepless nights have caught on you. you let hanni lay you down before pulling you into her embrace once again. hanni’s soft chuckle is the last thing you heard before you were taken to dreamland.
hanni smiles fondly, letting her finger graze on your face, touching every detail on it that she had long engraved in her memory.
“have a good sleep, my love.”
she kisses your forehead so softly as if you are a valuable masterpiece. her heart swollen upon hearing your contented sigh.
“i wish i could hold you like this forever, y/n.”
hanni confesses, pulling you impossibly closer to herself as she, too, drifts into dreamland.

You
-pt.2 of Crush
Parings: Pham Hanni x fem!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis: you like her, just her…
Genre: Idol au, fluff
Tumblr media
“Okay, so unnie listen carefully okay?” Hanni grinned as she nodded at your serious face. Gosh if she weren’t on face time she would be rolling off her bed. You were so cute.
“You know how my schedule has been really packed so I don’t really have time to hangout at the company and like socialize with other idols right?” You waited until Hanni nodded before continuing. “Yeah so, I decided to chill there for a while with my members because we had a free schedule the whole morning…” you continued to rambled but Hanni wasn’t listening, she was only looking at you.
Looking at how your eyes furrowed when you acted confused, or how you slightly pouted when you noticed she wasn’t listening. “Unnie, are you even listening?” Hanni shook her head. “I’m listening, go on.” You raised your eyebrows at her, totally not convinced but chose to continue anyways.
“Okay, so you know that time when I accidentally said that I had a few crushes on a few idols on live right?” Hanni suddenly felt like not listening anymore. She remembered that era of time when you would come to their dorm just to gush to her about your crushes. Let’s say Hanni wasn’t very happy about that.
“They approached me…” You paused to look if she was paying attention, she was.
“And suddenly said that they liked me at the same tim-“ You didn’t get to finish as Hanni interrupted, furrowing her eyebrows she tilted her head. “Like? As in Like-Like?” The bitter taste of jealousy hits her tongue after you nodded.
“And? What did you say?” Hanni felt stiff throughout her whole body, she did not like it one bit but she needed to know more.
“Well…nothing I just stared at them and then my manager came in and saved the day. It’s the reason why I called you, I want advice!” You twirled your hair, giggling like a school girl in love.
“Advice for what?” Hanni asked as her lips grew a pout. Why’d you have to tell her that.
“For what I should do?” You asked, frowning a bit when you noticed that she looked like a child whose lollipop was snatched away.
“I don’t know…” Hanni’s voice trailed off as she glanced away from your pretty face to her freshly painted nails. “Do you like them like that? Any of them?”
“I’m not sure of my feelings…I guess it felt good when they told me they like me? Yeah, I just felt nice…whatever, I like someone else now but it’s not like I’m allowed to even if I wanted to” You shrugged carelessly, leaning back onto your pillow.
But Hanni wasn’t able to care less at all, she cared a lot. If you stopped liking them then who do you like now? Was it one of your members? Or that actress whom you’ve been hanging out with way too much lately. Hanni immediately felt even more bitter after thinking about that actress.
Okay, who ever it is, Hanni Pham desperately needed to know. “Who do you like?!” looking at you with desperate eyes.
“You.”
Hanni jaw dropped as she blinked rapidly, unsure that what she heard was what it was. Even you were surprised by your own words but before any of you could utter a word, you could see from Hanni’s phone that your sister had just entered her room.
As they always say, life is full of interruptions.
“What are you doing?” Minji’s head appeared behind her door. “On video call with my baby sis again?”
Minji raised her brows when no one replied, she then swung the door fully open and walked inside of Hanni’s room, staring at her friend who was frozen in time. “Bro, we need to get to the company now.” then she faced your face through the iPhone screen, you too were quite.
Minji flickered her eyes between the two who were both still and faces were redder than the tomatoes Danielle ate daily. “These two…”Minji shook her head before picking up Hanni’s phone from the desk and bid goodbye to you before leaving the call.
“Han, get it together before I release those love songs you wrote to my baby sis.” Seeing as Hanni won’t respond Minji sighed before punching her arm and then left, leaving Hanni alone.
“She likes me…” Hanni said in a low voice as she held her burning cheeks with both hands. “Yn likes me.” her cheeks hurts from smiling to hard.

paper airplane, pham hanni x fem reader.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
genre : fluff
a/n : ' my world ' IM DYING I LOVE HER SM
Tumblr media
pham hanni, your vibrant and playful girlfriend, had a knack for capturing your attention in the most endearing ways. her creativity knew no bounds when it came to expressing her love for you.
one sunny afternoon, you found yourself engrossed in a book, completely absorbed in its pages. unbeknownst to you, hanni had been trying to get your attention for a while, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
she plopped down beside you, leaning close to your ear. "hey," she whispered, her voice laced with playfulness.
you glanced up, a smile tugging at your lips. "what is it, han?" you asked, unable to hide the fondness in your voice.
with a mischievous grin, she produced a small paper airplane from behind her back. "i have a message for you," she declared, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
you raised an eyebrow, curious about her antics. "alright, i'm listening," you said, playing along.
she held the paper airplane in front of you, her eyes never leaving yours. "unfold it," she instructed, her voice tinged with anticipation.
as you unfolded the paper, a burst of color and delicate handwriting greeted your eyes. it was a love note, written with care and adorned with tiny doodles. it read, "to the most beautiful person in my world, you make my heart soar. will you share a sweet kiss with me?"
your heart swelled with affection, and you couldn't help but giggle at hanni's adorable gesture. "of course," you replied, your voice filled with adoration.
hanni's face lit up with joy as she leaned in, her lips connecting with yours in a gentle and sweet kiss. it was a moment of pure bliss, a simple act that spoke volumes of her love for you.
when you finally pulled away, your lips still tingling, you gazed into hanni's eyes, a soft smile gracing your face. "you always find the most creative ways to get my attention," you remarked, your voice filled with warmth.
hanni chuckled, her eyes sparkling with affection. "i can't help it," she confessed. "you're my muse, and i can't resist finding ways to make you smile."
you reached out, intertwining your fingers with hers. "well, you succeed every time," you said, your voice filled with sincerity. "you make my heart soar too, han. i'm grateful to have you in my life."
she leaned her head against your shoulder, her touch comforting and filled with love. "i'm grateful for you too," she whispered, her voice soft and tender. "every day spent with you is a treasure."
and there, in that tender moment of shared affection, you knew that hanni was the one who had stolen your heart. with her playful spirit and boundless love, she had become your source of joy and inspiration. your world and your energy. she is your hanni.

hello !! can i request for newjeans reaction where they react to y/n surprising them with a passionate kiss after they come home from work? thank you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
feel special -> surprise kisses with ot5
just realised i kinda made this them coming back overworked oof
kim minji | 🐻
minji has this mindset that turns on whenever she gets overworked, that she just needs to get stuff done and go home. thus, she’s basically going on autopilot. when she steps through the doors of your shared apartment, the last thing she expects is to feel your lips on hers.
“i’m home-!” *squeal* “y-yn? what was that for?!”
she is taken aback and flustered! but she deffo pulls you into another kiss
pham hanni | 🐰
hanni gets through her harder days in a dangerous way- she ignores everything and blows up on the first thing that appears on her way. naturally, one could assume hanni would go back home and yell at you for that reason, hence you’re always waiting for her to come back. fortunately, before she can speak a word, your lips are on hers, shushing her gently.
“i-… i love you, you know that?”
all her worries suddenly fade away. only thing left is the overwhelming love for you
mo jihye | 🐶
danielle rarely allows herself to work to the point of exhaustion, she knows well it’s unhealthy. at times she does overwork herself, like when a comeback is approaching, she comes back home kind of zoned out. really, she’s thankful that the first thing that she feels when she closes the doors after her are your lips on hers.
“thank you, my love… i needed that.”
she looks at you all blushy, so grateful to have you
kang haerin | 🐱
while haerin usually is a little quiet, when she has a bad day, there’s like no way to speak with her. she straight up ignores everybody. only when she sees you, she calms down. she goes to hug you from behind and gets surprised when you turn your head to peck her lips.
“what was that for, y/nnie?”
she asks in a soft voice, although she’s extremely grateful for you
lee hyein | 🐣
over worked hyein comes home sad so you watch a movie with her ok 😃 ik it said kissing but like 🔥‼️💀
“that’s such a cool movie, hyein!”
“…are you saying that because you have a crush on black widow-“

Someone requested for virgin reader x g!p hanni! So here it is!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She’d be so gentle and soft, Hanni already treats you like a fragile doll in normal activities. It’s not like she thinks you’re weak it’s just that she feels the need to protect you from any hurt. So in sex she’d treat you like a soft doll, always making sure you are comfortable and satisfied.
Your pleasure is way more important than hers, always asking you “does this feel good doll?” “How does this feel?” Or complimenting you “your so pretty baby” “you are taking me so well doll” “such a pretty face with a pretty pussy, and all for me”😮‍💨
She isn’t fucking she is love making, she wants this experience to be memorable and loving so it is in the bedroom. She prepared you scented candles (the one you like), roses all over the bed and dimly lit bedroom. She is a romantic woman.
Her thrust slow and loving, but managing to hit the deepest parts that your fingers never reached. The bump onto your cervix was too delicious.
You were soon over the edge and your release was pushing her cock out, and your body squirming uncontrollably. Once you would feel your high she wouldn’t care to make herself cum. It’s your first time and it should be about you so she can manage her cock problem alone in the bathroom.
Love my girl Hanni😍🫦

kim minji
it wasn't a secret that you and minji were furiously competitive girlfriends with each other. idol's physical race did nothing but fuel the competitive fire between you two.
it was scary honestly, if the girls didn't know that you and minji were in a stable and loving 1 year relationship with each other, they'd have thought you two were enemies.
in both yours and minji's defense, you both found that the rivalry between you two in competitions were what made them so interesting and addictive. of course though, there were never any hard feelings afterwards.
so when your manager announced that your group would be going on 'idol's physical race' and competing against each other, you and minji were both practically counting down the days.
you and minji even went to the gym together to train for the upcoming competition.
finally, the day of the long awaited physical race rolled around, and it was pretty obvious that you and minji were the most excited.
first up was the grip strength test. danielle had gone first with a combined grip strength of 37.9 kg, then haerin second with a combined 36.7 kg. third was hanni, with a score of 44.2 kg. hyein attempted it shortly after, getting a test score of 50.9 kg.
it was finally minji's turn, so you sent her a teasing grin before she attempted the test, combining both her left and right hand's strength, she got a score of 51.2 kg. the highest score so far.
minji sent you a teasing smirk, spurring you on to try and beat her score.
so you did just that, after taking the test yourself, you got a combined score of 60.2 kg (29.8 L + 30.4 R). everyone looked at you shocked, even the instructor himself. you simply grinned back towards minji, continuing on with the idol physical race.
the rest of the competition went along like that, with minji winning some and you also the same.
lastly, came the obstacle course. you already got a feel for what it was like since you had to go against hanni in the 'semifinals' of the race.
having won against hanni, it was now time to officially go against minji in the finals for the 1 million won cash prize.
"may the best girl win" you smile warmly towards minji, extending your hand for handshake.
minji shakes back, also smiling warmly at you "likewise."
the rest of the girls and crew were laughing at the oddly serious scene, but admired the sportsmanship between you two.
the timer had reached zero, and the two of you took off sprinting. you and minji weaved and dodged, jumped and ducked through the obstacles, the two of you neck and neck the entire time.
the last stretch was rapidly approaching, minji still in the lead with you trailing closely behind her.
although you did take the lead a couple times in the race, you ultimately lagged behind near the end due to a slight mishap in your footwork, making minji the winner.
you made your way over to minji who was sitting in the winners circle, "if we go again, i bet i could totally beat you" you beam, helping minji up.
your girlfriend rolls her eyes, but soon betrays herself as her crescent moon eye shape comes out and smile slips past. "what makes you think i wouldn't just beat you again?"
"because i'll get the other girls to hold you down while i finish the course" you joke. minji playfully smacking your arm in response.
soon, shooting 'idol physical race' had come to a wrap, all of you more tired than expected.
you all gathered into the car. you, minji, and hyein in the back. whilst hanni, haerin, and danielle sat in the middle.
your manager double checked that everything was good to go before dropping you all off to your shared dorms.
as the ride came to a stop, signifying that you were at your dorm, you gently shook minji awake. no response. after a couple more attempts, and minji still not getting up, you told the girls to go inside first.
you decided you'd just carry her instead. you carefully picked minji up into a princess carry, not wanting to drop her or wake her accidentally. you thank your manager for the shoot today and for dropping you all off home before heading inside.
you gently set minji down onto her bed, adjusting her blanket so that it laid comfortably on top of her before pecking her forehead with a kiss before leaving her room to help prepare dinner for the members with hanni.
when minji awoke, you were all indulging in the meal that you and hanni prepared for the group. she took the vacant seat next to you.
"how did i get into my room?" minji asks, still a little sleepy.
"yn-unnie carried you" haerin replies nonchalantly.
minji's face flushed red, she already knew you were strong (thanks to previous events and the idol race providing even more evidence for her), so it shouldn't have been as surprising as it was to her.
either way, her flushed and blushing cheeks were a sight for you and the members to behold so none of you complained.
pham hanni
hanni took pride in the fact that she was your childhood friend. more specifically, the fact that she knew almost knew everything about you. keyword: almost.
hanni, your wonderful groupmate and girlfriend of 6 months has been by your side ever since the two of you met in diapers. so to say that hanni knows everything about you isn't that far of a stretch.
"jagiya, i'm going to the gym now." you told hanni, pressing a kiss to her forehead before you left.
hanni waved goodbye as she watched you gently close the door behind you, feeling her heart warm as you peek your head in through the door one more time before sending her a final wave.
your girlfriend knew you enjoyed going to the gym, telling her on more than one occasion that the gym was basically your third home. the first would be hanni herself, then the second being the rest of newjeans.
three days later, hanni found herself feeling incredibly bored on her day off. minji headed off to the company to work some leader stuff out (hanni wasn't fully awake when minji announced what she was doing for the day), haerin was still sleeping, danielle and hyein were watching a movie together. and you? you were getting ready to go to the company gym.
"im so bored.." hanni drawled out, currently laying on your bed in a starfish position as she watched you pack all your things needed for your time at the gym.
you giggle lightly at hanni, "you know, you can come to the gym with me"
hanni thought about it, deeming it a perfectly good idea. despite the fact that you've been dating each other for half a year now, she's never actually gone to the gym with just you.
"give me 15 minutes to get ready" hanni shot up from the bed. theres no time like the present right?
true to her word, hanni was appropriately changed and ready by the 15 minute mark. after letting danielle and hyein know, and texting haerin and minji, the two of you were headed to the gym. you and hanni started making your way there.
in the gym, there was nobody else there, despite it already being 1 pm in the afternoon. neither of you minded though, a quiet and empty gym was rare these days.
hanni didn't do much in the gym except for some core exercises and cardio. she was jogging a moderate pace on a treadmill as she started looking around. you, however, were going straight to work on one of the machines, 'lat pulldown' is what hanni could make out.
hanni knew you went to the gym often, hell she was there with you, but seeing you work out in front of her, in just a sports bra no less, just made everything so much more surreal.
hanni watched you work out in awe. the weight was set to 110 lbs, which was a little over your body weight. hanni watched as your back muscles flexed in response to the machine working at your lats, your biceps and triceps contracting and relaxing from the motion of the workout, and the tension in your abs visible as you finished your second set. hanni might've swallowed a fly if she kept staring any longer.
finding herself distracted, your girlfriend trips over her footing and stumbles on the treadmill. hanni shortly fell off the treadmill after, luckily unharmed.
seeing the scene that just played out in front of you, you quit whatever rep you were on and immediately went over to hanni's side. "are you okay?" you ask worriedly.
hanni gives a fervent nod, embarrassed that she quite literally fell for you.
"what happened? how did you trip?" you start asking a barrage of questions before hanni finally speaks up.
"i got distracted." hanni left her explanation at that, quickly dusting herself off as you helped her up.
to this day, you still don't know what made hanni distracted at the gym. if only hanni turned around for you, you'd be able to see the furious dust of pink that spread across her cheeks.
danielle marsh
danielle being the ever bubbly and perfect girl she is, is head cheerleader for hybe's cheer team. you on the other hand? just a quiet pretty girl who happened to be in the same class as the sun personified that is danielle marsh.
the first time you two ever exchanged words was 4 months into the new school year, despite having most of your classes together.
sighing softly to herself, danielle sat down in a chair in her home room afterschool, why? because of detention. danielle had forgotten to do her homework and wasn't able to convince mr. kim this time around.
danielle laid her head down, hoping to fall asleep to pass the time quicker. as danielle felt herself fall not slumber, a loud screech could be heard in the room.
the girl whipped her head up, annoyed that whoever this was couldn't bother to lift the chair as she falling asleep.
danielle recognized you from her class, you were the girl that always kept to herself and sat at the back of classes. danielle also noticed that you weren't in your school uniform, instead in gym clothing attire, making your lean, defined muscles very visible. danielle soon snapped out of her thoughts after she heard you talk.
"im so sorry" you apologize profusely, "i didn't realize that it was gonna screech like that-"
before danielle could accept your apology, the detention supervisor 'shhh'd' the two of you, reminding yourselves to stay quiet.
instead, danielle gives you a thumbs up, thinking that you also had a pretty voice before trying to succumb to the lull of sleep again.
one hour later, the two of you had been released from detention.
after exchanging awkward, but quick goodbyes with each other. the two of you went your separate ways, not expecting to talk anytime soon, or even ever again.
to both of your surprises though, you found each other in the same detention again only two weeks after the last one.
the same thing occurs again, you would be reading your book as danielle tried to fall asleep. an hour later, the two of you got released from detention.
the same thing happened for the third time, which didn't really surprise the two of them this time. they run through the entire detention process again, but before the two of you could go your separate ways, you called danielle by her name to get her attention.
you catch up to danielle who was in the middle of the hallway, facing you now.
you ask danielle why she was in detention. you listen intently as she tells you that she was there for not being able to complete homework in time.
"what about you?" danielle inquires.
you blush in embarrassment, "i fell asleep in mr. hwang's class again"
danielle found herself amused at the girl in front of her, 'again?' she thought to herself. "i don't blame you, mr. hwang is really boring." she offers a smile.
an awkward silence engulfs the two of you, it was now that danielle never really noticed how you were taller than her, the way your long arms fooled everyone, because hiding underneath all of that was physique worthy of a goddess. catching herself staring, danielle hurriedly says goodbye. you do too, you were just a bit confused with how she was acting.
the next day, it was danielle that approached you in class first. she smiled when she saw you already dozing off and a little before class.
danielle taps on your desk, successfully gaining your attention. "here, for you." she beams as she set down a bar of caffeinated chocolate on your desk. "it'll help you stay awake" she adds.
you thanked danielle generously, shaking her hand repeatedly.
unbeknownst to you though, danielle watched as your biceps flexed unconsciously. who knew that underneath that quiet pretty girl exterior, you were actually really buff.
kang haerin
haerin was the manager of the varisty girls volleyball team of hybe multi-arts high, she also happened to be the girlfriend of the distinguished y/n l/n, captain of the volleyball team.
it was just another practice as haerin quickly tallied another point in the spike category underneath your name.
a loud 'boom' echoed through the gym as you managed to spike completely past hyein, who was currently practicing her blocking with you.
"why am i practicing single blocking, we both know how coach yeji gets when we don't double block in game" hyein complained.
you simply smirk at her, "hyein-ie, what are you going to do when yunjin-ie isn't able to get there in time with you in game huh?"
yunjin who was getting drink of water suddenly exclaims, "i always get there in time!"
your laugh echoes throughout the gym, "regardless, it'd be really good if you can get a touch on the ball single blocking before practice is over"
you were currently running simple drills as warm up before the rest of the team started showing up. your starting lineup went as follows: minji (setter), hyein (middle), danielle (middle), hanni (libero), yunjin (opposite), and you as their power.
you were all practicing for the upcoming game against sm academy, hybe's rival school, this friday. so this practice was really important.
haerin loved watching you play, practice or game, she knew you always gave it your all. it was exciting watching you play with such passion, your presence on the court contagious as she observed how your teammates would match your energy and passion on court.
this time a 'ba-boom' was heard throughout the gym, followed by a squeal of excitement.
"i did it yn-unnie! i got a touch on the ball!" hyein dances around happily.
you all looked hyein impressively, before minji adds on, "that was a shoot set too, hyein. you should be proud."
yunjin soon joined in to block with hyein, now practicing double blocking. you and minji kept experimenting with your sets, some shooting past the two blockers, but most of the hits touching their blocks, resulting in hanni practicing her digs, which managed to get the ball up almost every time.
a click turned all of your heads around as you revealed the person who just walked in, thankfully it was just danielle, so you were all free to just keep doing what you were doing.
danielle sets her stuff down the middle of the bench, beside hanni's. danielle observed her surroundings before grinning.
"you look so in love with y/n" danielle teases haerin as she got changed into practice clothes, causing the latter to hide her face into her hands.
regaining her cool composure back, haerin replies, "... who wouldn't? she's a phenomenon"
danielle laughs, "slow down there haerin-ie, lover girl heard you y'know"
turning her head towards y/n, haerin can indeed confirm that y/n heard her due to the surprised look on her face. without y/n paying attention however, she hadn't realized that a set was coming her way. the set hit y/n's head unexpectedly, a small groan coming from y/n in return. y/n's teammates were quick to find the situation funny and laughed, asking if you were okay shortly after.
slowly the rest of the team piled in, as well as coach yeji and the practice goes the same way as it always goes.
during the actual practice though, haerin couldn't help but take notice of how your compression shirt hugged you so nicely.
sweat beaded at your hairline, some trailing down to the sides of your neck. you were practically glistening with sweat, as did the other girls.
simply put, haerin thought you looked absolutely breathtaking right now. your muscles and abs were clearly defined thanks to the black compression shirt you were wearing. paired with your heavy breathing, and the overall presence and vibe you were giving off right now, haerin thought she was the luckiest girl in the world for having such a hot girlfriend.
haerin was surprised she even made it to the end of practice, thinking halfway she was going pass out from staring at you too hard.
to signal the end of practice, your team did their signature sandwich, yelling out 'hybe high!' at the end.
you walked over to haerin, who was right beside your duffel bag. "so.. a phenomenon, huh?" you tease.
haerin effectively responded to your teasing with a kiss, after pulling apart she whispers to your ear "if only you could see you from my point of view, then, yeah."
you blushed furiously, haerin had never been so bold before.
watching the blush spread across your cheeks, haerin thought that you really were a phenomenon in her life.
lee hyein (platonic)
hyein has always looked up to you during her trainee days, now that she's debuted with you, it's only increased by tenfold.
hyein wasn't joking around when she said she was her unnies' number 1 fan. you, of course, were no exception to her protective maknae instincts.
when the members revealed that you were the member that worked out/ went to the gym the most during a live, the fans went wild asking for you to pose for them.
you laughed awkwardly, looking towards minji for what she'd do in this situation, and she just giggled at your cuteness.
the next ot6 live that went on you were wearing just a simple tank top, all the members in their loungewear as well.
it wasn't long before you saw the comments flood about wanting you to pose for them.
a bit reluctantly, you looked around your members silently asking for their permission to do this.
seeing no weird faces or reactions, you decided to flex for your fans for about 3 seconds, feeling shy.
needless to say, that moment got clipped and popular pretty quick within the fandom. all the clip showed was you doing a simple bicep flex pose which showed the curve in your biceps excellently before getting flustered and relaxing once again.
the group decided to do another ot6 live around week later, everything doing the same as usual, but they'd be lying if they said they didn't get annoyed by the comments asking you to flex again that showed up every 9-10 seconds.
what seemed to hyeins breaking point however was when hanni read out a comment "y/n-unnie marry me please!!"
with her protective maknae habits, she immediately denies the comments request, "sorry bunnies, y/n is already newjeans's, you can't marry her."
with that the group erupts into laughter, and another viral clip in the fandom was made.

broken thread
pham hanni x fem!reader | one shot
Synopsis: Your whole life, you had been waiting for the red loop to appear on your ring finger. The string leads straight to your soulmate, you had heard. You weren’t really expecting your soulmate to literally cut ties on the first day of getting it. And you definitely weren’t expecting to meet her months later at your university library.
Contains: cursing
Playlist
Tumblr media
Your favorite color had always been red — a rich and blazing red.
You learned from an early age that it was the color of love. The color of the string that would wrap around your ring finger one day, and lead you straight to your soulmate.
You spent countless days pestering your parents to retell the story of when they first received their string, the story of how they first met, the story of how they fell in love. You would watch them send teasing smiles to each other as they fought over who fell first, and see their eyes gleam with fondness as they reminisced about their younger days.
They would tuck you in bed with goodnight kisses after sharing little tidbits of their love story, and you would fall asleep with a smile on your face, comforted by the fact that you would one day find your own soulmate — someone who would love you unconditionally.
The first time you saw the red string in action, from someone other than your parents, was in the first year of high school. A girl from your class had rocked up to school one day, waving around her hand to flaunt the red loop that had appeared around her finger, the first to do so.
That was the telltale sign that she had found her soulmate: everyone could see the loop, and only she could see the string that led her to them.
(Getting the loop didn’t mean that you would immediately find your soulmate, though. You had heard from your parents that it was different for everyone. It could be mere days, or it could take weeks, months, sometimes even years after receiving the loop to meet your soulmate face to face.)
News traveled around fast. By second period, it was all everyone talked about. Students rushed to the girl during the break, eager to see it in person, as if to confirm that this concept was tangible and real.
You didn’t have to see for yourself. The look on the girl’s face was enough for you, glowing with ardor and pride. And it was not only the girl who was left eager at the prospect of a soulmate after this. This day planted a seed of hope in everyone, their own expectations and fervor beginning to grow and flourish.
It’s so nice, you had thought to yourself at the time as you absentmindedly drew a red line that looped around your whole page, that everyone is so excited for love.
And you loved love, too. How could you not, when it was in everything you saw growing up? It was in the mornings when you would wake up unusually early, and peek outside your room to see your parents conversing in hushed tones over some coffee, the sunlight just barely spilling through the curtains to tenderly greet them.
It was in the tooth-rotting sweetness of the candy your cousins would secretly buy for you without your parents’ knowledge, along with the bandaids to cover your scraped knees when you rode your bike together.
It was in the way you and your friends would bring extra servings of your snacks or lunch to share with and ‘trade’ together.
It was everywhere, a constant and certainty, there for you to give and take at your will, and that’s what you loved about love.
As years went by, more and more students burst through the school gates brandishing their red loops, and more and more couples began popping up. Valentine’s Day at school was always sweet to see — the school would decorate the hallways with red threads and balloons, and students sent heart lollipops and roses to their lovers or friends.
By the time you reached your senior years, your ring finger was still bare. Your friends and family always reassured you that your time would come, and friends who hadn’t received the loop yet would lament and rant about their anxiety. You weren’t too worried, though. Love is patient and so you figured you should be too.
Tumblr media
It was a few weeks after graduation when you finally received your red loop. You woke up in the afternoon to the disruptive revving of a car that zoomed past your house.
(You had been waking up later these days, enjoying the last taste of freedom before the start of university.)
You stayed up late last night, suddenly feeling the motivation to perform a surgical deep clean of your room. You enjoyed doing this every few months to give yourself peace of mind. It was bittersweet to look back at your past exams and the old notes you took, reminiscing the endless hours you spent hunched over your desk.
You were about to drift back to sleep when you felt a slight itch on your ring finger, and instinctively went to scratch it. Then, you realized what that meant, and quickly sat up to investigate.
There it was, in all its glory: a red loop around your finger. The string that extended it passed through your walls. You leaned in closer to inspect it — it seemed like a real string, like what you would find on a spool. You could see the little threads that it was made of. But when you tried to touch it, it would just pass through your fingers.
You sat there for a few minutes, letting the reality sink in. You were overwhelmed with emotions, the good kind, and your cheeks started to hurt because you were smiling too hard.
You didn’t feel any different, didn’t feel suddenly whole or complete, and you didn’t expect to. You were just content that there was someone out there to share your love with. Though, there was that small sense of relief in the way your shoulders relaxed.
(There was always a small margin of error with soulmates; you had heard of it through whispered rumors and seen it in the fine print of your research. The selfish part of you was glad that it wasn’t you.)
Your hands wouldn’t stop trembling, even when you got out of bed to brush your teeth. You couldn’t help but begin to fantasize about who your soulmate would be — what they would look like, what their personality was like, if the two of you would click straight away.
Just as you finished washing up and began to make your way to the kitchen, you winced as you felt an unexpected sharp tug on your ring finger. Your hand felt like it was burning. Cradling your wrist up towards you, you noticed what was wrong.
What was once a red string that carried your love beyond these walls, to wherever your soulmate was, was now cut short, frayed at the edges. Its color had faded, as if lifeless, now a pale pink.
Oh. Maybe you spoke too soon.
You stood there for a while, in the hallway, in denial. Hadn’t it only been a few minutes? When your mom made her way to your room to check up on you, she saw your stricken face first. Her eyebrows knitted, mouth open and about to ask what was wrong. Then, she saw the string, or a lack thereof.
She didn’t say anything, only pulling you into her arms, the arms that once engulfed you as she told you everything she knew about soulmates. You let the tears run down your face.
You never thought that love could be pain, but you were feeling it now, and you didn’t know how to make it stop. Each gasping breath after the sobs that wracked through your body should have been breaths that your soulmate would’ve taken away.
You bit your lip so as to no longer make a sound, and you were biting so hard that it bled the red you once thought meant love.
Tumblr media
You felt empty for the next few days. There was an almost imperceptible lighter feeling to your ring finger now, and you felt bare.
The loop was still there, and the sight of it that had once brought joy, now only gave you sorrow that you would’ve never thought to associate with soulmates.
You cried until your eyes were bloodshot red, and you imagined that your tears would stain the pink loop, if it could be stained — soaked with your tears so that it darkened, and maybe it would be closer to the red you love.
It was as if the universe was mocking you. Everyone knew how much you loved the idea of soulmates, how badly you were waiting for the day to get your loop (even though you tried to hide it).
But we always want what we can’t have. And you thought that the world was cruel, for letting you just have a taste of soulmates, only for it to be ripped away from you not even an hour later.
Or perhaps you should blame your soulmate for being selfish and entitled enough to deny both of you the gift that is love. You wonder if you would actually say that to them if you ever met face to face.
(You wouldn’t. You have a feeling that you’d love them regardless.)
It was stupid, being heartbroken over someone you had never met. But you had spent so much of your life waiting and hoping, that the disappointment was stifling, like the string had wrapped itself tightly around you, leaving you no room to breathe. Maybe it was your fault for being too idealistic.
The worst part was that there would not be any closure. But perhaps this fate was better than being rejected upon the first meeting. It hurt all the same, anyway.
You kept yourself occupied as best as you could, which manifested itself into more of just holing yourself up in your room, listening to sad music and cleaning away your thoughts.
Eventually, you forced yourself out of hiding and faced the music. The pitiful looks and words of comfort from friends and family felt more burdening than anything, but you knew they meant well.
You took it day by day, learning to slowly chisel off the bitterness that had engraved itself onto you. You didn’t want to become someone your past self would’ve hated.
Romantic love may not be on the table for you anymore, but there was still plenty of love to go around. And that was what you would tell yourself to move on. You had to move on, because time doesn’t wait for anyone.
The good news was that the start of university was not too long after, which gave you something to focus on rather than the gaping hole that your would-be-soulmate left.
University was a big change, but you were never one to be unnerved by change. The hardest part was finding where all the lecture halls and rooms were on campus, but other than that, you had successfully cemented yourself into uni life among hundreds of other students.
Faster than you could process, you settled into a comfortable rhythm: taking public transport to get to uni, attending lectures and tutorials, rotting away in the library to complete your weekly exercises, going home to sleep, then doing it all over again.
At least you didn’t have classes every day.
Ignoring the relentless workload, the freedom and flexibility that university offered in comparison to high school was a breath of fresh air.
You enjoyed romanticizing the train rides to university, getting lost in the scenery passing by with your Airpods on. Grabbing a coffee early in the morning, feeling as if you were an adult now. Feeling insignificant under the towering skyscrapers that the city boasted.
It was lonely though. With a fresh set of classmates every semester, it felt harder than ever to make friends. Your high school friends had branched out to different universities, and the ones that went to the same one as you, were busy with adapting to the new lifestyle.
You still met up from time to time, of course, but it wasn’t the same as seeing each other every day in high school.
So yes, it was incredibly lonely. It didn’t help that all you could see around you was the bright red of everyone’s loop, a reminder of what you lost.
Tumblr media
You were in your zone, catching up on a lecture via recording and making notes, when the opening of a door startled you.
You looked up to see a girl who, despite her short stature, still exuded an intimidating vibe. You took out your Airpods.
“I booked this room.”
“Oh,” you frowned. You were so sure that you booked this room. You always did, this same room, on Wednesday, every week. “I thought I booked it, but maybe there was an error with the system.”
You started to pack up, the air painstakingly awkward as the stranger stood there and watched you.
“I’m sorry,” you murmured.
You struggled under her scrutiny, fumbling over your pens and pencils as you internally berated yourself for not verifying the booking.
“You booked it?” She said after a while. (You were still packing up.) You felt small under her gaze, only nodding in response.
“Don’t worry about it then,” she mumbled, plopping herself on a chair. “We can share.”
“Oh.” Your hand that was stuffing your stationery into your backpack froze. “Are you sure?”
The stranger grunted and waved her hand dismissively. She then folded her arms on the table, leaning her forehead on it. You took that as a sign of the conversation ending.
You hesitantly sat back down and put in your Airpods again. You spent the rest of the time studying, occasionally glancing at the sleeping stranger. You were slightly concerned, more curious if anything.
It was around three hours later when she stirred back to life. You watched her out of the corner of your eye. She puffed her cheeks out as she ran her fingers through her hair, proceeding to check her phone before setting it down on the table.
She rested her chin on her folded arms, diverting her sole attention to you. You quickly averted your eyes back to your laptop screen, feeling her burning stare.
You suffered under her gaze for a few more minutes that seemed to drag itself out before you mustered up the courage to look back up.
Out of habit, you looked at her ring finger. It was something you had been meaning to stop. You wouldn’t want people staring at yours, but you couldn’t help yourself.
To your shock, her loop was also a pale pink. You hadn’t met someone else who also had a pink loop yet.
She noticed your fixated gaze. “Yeah. No soulmate for me.”
“Sorry,” you hastily said, sitting up straight. “I didn’t mean to look-”
“It’s okay,” she shrugged. “I’m used to it.”
You bit your lip and showed her your ring finger. “No, really, I wasn’t judging. I’m the same.”
For the first time since meeting her, you seemed to pique her interest. She smiled as she leaned back, a mix of pride and dryness. You couldn’t really pinpoint it. “I cut mine. How about you?”
You wavered for a split second, but quickly shook the thought off. It’s just a coincidence. You tried to play it off. “Me too.”
“Really?” She tilted her head, still skeptical. “Why?”
You shifted uncomfortably in your seat. “Didn’t feel right, you know. I wasn’t ready.”
She let out a sigh of relief. “God, finally someone that gets it. Everyone’s so obsessed with soulmates, I can’t stand it.”
“I know right,” you laughed awkwardly. Your response only seemed to spur her on.
“Soulmates are such a scam. Love should be a choice. Some stupid string shouldn’t dictate who I love,” she muttered, drumming her fingers on the table.
You nodded slowly. It sounded personal to her. You had never really seen it like that, but you could understand where she was coming from.
Maybe the pain I felt from the cut string was the same pain my soulmate felt when they got the string.
You weren’t sure how to feel about this. You didn’t have much time to dwell on it though, because the stranger spoke again.
“I’m Hanni.”
You were expecting a follow-up question, but realized she was waiting for a response. You promptly introduced yourself, although quite clumsily, but she didn’t seem to mind.
“You almost done with studying?” Hanni asked, kicking her feet on the table. You were pretty sure that was against the rules, but she didn’t seem to care.
“Kind of?”
“What do you study anyway?” You kept your eyes trained on your laptop while she kept hers on you.
“Actuarial studies.”
A whistle. “Damn. You must be crazy.”
“Yeah, it’s definitely something,” you scratched your nape before continuing meekly. “How about you?”
“Nothing,” Hanni closed her eyes, arms behind her head as she teetered the chair back. This left you on edge, you were scared she would fall. “Took a gap year.”
“Oh,” you said. “So what do you do with all the time?”
“Whatever I want. Which basically means nothing.”
“Cool,” you nodded stiffly. You were about to end the conversation there, but realized,
“Wait,” you furrowed your eyebrows. “So what are you doing at a uni library?”
She cracked an eye open for a second before smirking. You found this immensely attractive. “Is it not open to the public?”
“It is,” you backtracked. “Sorry-”
Hanni suddenly stood up and stretched. “I’m just messing with you. Most of the time, I come here to take a nap. Sometimes I meet up with my friends though.”
Not giving you any time to respond, she continued. “I’m gonna head out.”
“Oh,” you said, again. That was all you could say really, you weren’t the best with strangers. “Okay.”
Hanni stuffed her phone in her pocket as she shuffled towards the door, putting on her headphones again. You flexed your wrist before continuing to write down lecture notes.
“Hey.”
Hanni hovered at the door, hand on the doorframe. “We both like booking this room. You don’t mind sharing from now on, right?”
You tapped your pen on the desk to relieve your hand of its shakiness. “Yeah. I don’t mind.”
Hanni nodded. “I’ll see you next week.”
“See you…” You mumbled, but she had already walked out. You watched her leave. That initial gut feeling started to die down.
Tumblr media
Hanni was someone you wouldn’t necessarily consider a friend in the first few weeks of knowing her. She was consistent though, you’ll give her that, always showing up to the same library room just to sleep for a solid 3 to 4 hours every Wednesday without fail.
So the conversations between you two were minimal. Not that you minded. But there was just something pulling you toward her, maybe it was her assertive nature and the way she carried herself with confidence, the complete opposite of you, or maybe it was the fact that she was very pretty.
Despite her being asleep most of the time, there was a subtle sense of tranquility that she brought — the idea that the two of you were in the same boat; you knew she wouldn’t walk on eggshells around the topic of soulmates around you. You liked that.
(It had been months since the incident. You thought your friends and family would’ve moved on by now, hell, even you have, but the way they tread lightly around you about soulmates was like opening old wounds.
It made you feel as if you were weak. As if you were a defect. You knew this wasn’t true. There was more to life than soulmates. This is what you had to learn.)
Before you knew it, two months had passed since your first meeting. Time flies when uni completely bombards you with assignments. It was just another ordinary Wednesday when Hanni decided to strike up a conversation.
“Hey.”
Hanni flung a pencil in your direction. It had only been ten minutes since she entered the room.
(It was your pencil. You had no idea how she got a hold of it.)
You barely had time to dodge before taking out your Airpods, slightly annoyed, but mostly perplexed.
“Do you do anything other than study?”
“Obviously…”
She still seemed dubious. “What do you like? Any hobbies?”
You paused.
“I like astronomy?” You said it as more of a question than a statement.
Hanni’s eyebrows furrowed. “Like signs and shit?”
“No,” you laughed softly. “That’s astrology. I mean, you know, space and all that.”
Hanni didn’t reply. You hoped that it was because of indifference, rather than judgment. You didn’t know why you cared anyway. You continued on with your work.
She spoke again a few minutes later. “What do you listen to?”
You took out your Airpods again. Usually, this would be irritating, but these seemingly trivial conversations and small talk somehow wormed their way up to be the highlight of your week.
“Um…” You trailed off. “How am I meant to show you?”
Hanni hummed in thought for a moment. “Do you use Spotify?”
You nodded. She grabbed your phone, pushed it in your face so it would unlock, and started tapping and doing who knows what. You just sat there, appalled by her brazenness.
She handed your phone back to you with a proud smile. “There. Our Spotify’s should be synced now.”
You don’t know why your face started to heat up. Something about listening to music together felt so intimate. Like you were opening a window into your soul.
“Are you sure you want to listen along?” You mumbled. “You might not like my taste in music…”
“I’m sure,” Hanni insisted. “It’s a good way to get to know a person.”
She stretched before settling comfortably into a familiar position, arms folded on the table. She motioned for you to put your Airpods in as she put her headphones back on, before dropping her forehead on her arms. “Wake me up when you’re done studying.”
You took a glance at the pale pink loop on her finger before focusing back on your work.
Tumblr media
The sun was beginning to set by the time you finished, the sky painted with an array of vivid yellows and oranges.
You cracked your knuckles as you quietly started to pack up, observing a sleeping Hanni. If you strained your ears, you could hear faint snores, which you found quite endearing. You thought that Hanni was much cuter when she was asleep, a stark contrast to her usual brooding demeanor. Too cute that you almost didn’t wake her up, but guilt would eat you alive if you didn’t.
You cautiously poked her shoulder. “Hanni?”
It took a few more pokes until she blearily opened her eyes, grumbling under her breath. You retracted your hand as if she would bite. “You told me to wake you up…”
You suppressed a smile at the sight of a bright red mark on her forehead. “What time is it?”
“Just about to hit 7. I’m gonna head home.”
Just as you turned to leave, Hanni somehow got out of the chair in the blink of an eye and grabbed you. “Wait.”
You swiveled back around in confusion. She rested her headphones around her neck before stuffing her hands in her pocket. “Do you need to get home urgently?”
You shook your head.
“Okay,” Hanni said simply. “Let’s go.”
You wanted to ask “Go where?”, but Hanni brushed past you and was already walking out the door. You bit your lip. Surely you could spare an hour or two, just for today. You hurriedly adjusted your backpack on your shoulder before jogging to catch up to her.
Tumblr media
Your hands were clammy for the entire walk. The sky continued to grow darker, and all the lessons of stranger danger that your parents had taught you were flashing in your head. Maybe it was a bit stupid to blindly follow someone you had barely talked to and only known for a few months or so. Well, if Hanni ended up kidnapping or killing you, at least you died to someone pretty.
Before your thoughts could derail further, Hanni finally stopped walking. Your legs were starting to ache. The last time you got this much cardio in was when you were running late for class in high school.
You took a few seconds to absorb your surroundings. It was a small lake, the water still as it reflected the last remnants of the sunset. It was secluded — you didn’t see or hear any other signs of life besides the inevitable chirping and buzzing of random insects. Hanni seated herself on a small grassy hill that faced the water, patting the space next to her as a signal for you to sit as well.
She leaned back and rested her head against the grass as she closed her eyes. You sat down awkwardly and set your weight on your backpack, just staring at her. Is she asleep again?
“Pretty, right?” She suddenly asked. Okay, not asleep. “I come here to think a lot.”
You gently tugged her hoodie over her head. She didn’t even flinch. You didn’t want bugs to crawl into her hair. “What do you think about?”
You were caught off guard by her deflection. “How do you think your soulmate is doing?”
“What?”
“You cut off your string, right? How do you think they’re doing?”
“Oh,” you tensed. “I’m not too sure. I hope they’re okay, wherever they are.”
Hanni hummed. “You’re awfully nice.”
You hesitated before asking the pressing question on your mind. “Do you really hate the idea of soulmates that much? What if you met them?”
“I wouldn’t say hate,” Hanni clicked her tongue. “I don't really know how to explain it, but I want everything to be my choice, you know? I don’t believe in things like fate. I just happen to meet people, and I choose who I want to stay and who I want to love.”
She shifted before continuing. “And I’ve seen what the string can do. People get too attached to the idea of soulmates, but sometimes they never end up meeting them and are left heartbroken, or their soulmate turns out to be a terrible person. So what good is it, really?”
You bit your cheek as you reflected on her words. Your instinct was telling you that there was more to the story, but it wasn’t your place to ask.
“And I don’t know what I’d do if I ever met my soulmate. I wouldn’t even know it’s them, first of all. But I guess if they’re a decent person, we could start off as friends.”
Hanni finished off with a sigh. “Anyway, enough of my rant. Can you spot any constellations? Or whatever astronomy entails.”
You stared at the sky. You could see the faint twinkling of stars if you tried hard enough. The wonders of light pollution.
“I actually don’t know much about astronomy,” you answered sheepishly. “I just remember having a space phase in, like, 4th grade. And so now I just remember random facts about space and find everything about it pretty.”
Hanni opened her eyes and turned to face you. “Tell me one.”
You pursed your lip in thought for a second, racking your brain. “Magellan was the first teddy bear in space in 1995. It even got a special astronaut suit. Very charming fella.”
You showed her a picture of it on your phone with a stupid smile. You felt your face warm up as Hanni chuckled at the photo, eyes crinkling. Ah. Her smile is so cute.
You cleared your throat to alleviate your fluster. “How about you? What are you into?”
“Nothing special,” she shrugged. “Music and games. Do you play games?”
“Not really,” you admitted. “I remember illegally downloading the Sims and never playing it after my Sim randomly died from a kitchen fire.”
Hanni cracked a smile. “Happens to the best of us.”
"By the way," you said curiously. "Did you learn a lot from my music taste?"
"I did actually," she smirked with arrogance. "You seem to be the sentimental type. A romantic."
"Huh," you blinked.
"You don't need to say anything," she continued smugly. "I already know I'm right."
The buzzing of your phone cut the conversation short. Your mother was calling.
“Oh no,” you winced as you slowly got up. “I lost track of time. I should get going.”
It looked like she wanted to say something, but chose not to. “See you.”
“Don’t you have places to be?”
She flicked her gaze from the lake to you, one that was unexpectedly intense. “Yeah. But I’ll stay here for a bit longer.”
“Okay,” you lingered there for a few seconds. “Stay safe.”
You started making your way home, oddly feeling content.
Tumblr media
As more months passed by, the lake became a spot of solace for the two of you, meeting there regularly when either of you felt like talking (mostly Hanni). It was a bit hard at first, getting used to spontaneous hangouts (usually you enjoyed the comfort and stability of routine), but Hanni’s presence was a big help. You learned a lot from her, and especially admired her self-assurance.
You cherished these times as it was an opportunity to learn more about Hanni. Like the fact that she worked at the cafe on campus, despite hating coffee.
(You wondered how you never saw her.)
And the fact that she had performed for her high school talent show and ended up being the grand winner. And the fact that she once slept through the night at the library, and then woke up to the blinding light of a security guard’s flashlight shining in her face.
The more you got to know her, the more your feelings for her grew. Which you found to be quite problematic, because you were such a firm believer of soulmates all your life. Although there was that minuscule possibility that Hanni was your soulmate, you felt as though you were betraying your soulmate by falling for someone else.
Surely, it was free real estate. Your soulmate was the one who cut the string after all. To be honest, they probably don’t care at all. You don’t know why you were creating such a fuss about it. It was your inner guilt clawing at you. Didn't liking someone who wasn't your soulmate debunk the idea of soulmates itself?
You thought about what Hanni would say. You could hear her voice in your head: Love is a choice. Soulmates shouldn’t determine who you love. As much as it conflicted with you, every time you woke up to the thought of her, you found yourself agreeing with her more and more.
You also started to like the pale pink loop on your finger more and more.
Tumblr media
“Hey.”
You sat cross-legged on familiar ground, picking at the grass. Hanni hadn’t come to the library today, which left you embarrassingly worried, but she had texted you to meet at the lake around 15 minutes ago. The two of you exchanged contact information the week after the first lake hangout. The two of you didn’t text though. That was, until today. “What are you doing here?”
Hanni’s eyes were closed, as usual. She seemed to ponder a lot. You always wondered what was on her mind. “Thinking.”
“And you called me here because…?”
“Figured you needed a break.” The corner of her lips tugged up. You let out a small smile too. Behind her nonchalant tone and nature, she was surprisingly sweet.
“What are you thinking about this time?”
“You.”
“Me?” You sputtered. “What about me?”
Hanni let out a breath. “My bad. I should be more specific. I’m thinking about my feelings for you.”
Luckily her eyes were still closed, because your face was turning red at an alarming pace.
“Really?” You squeaked. “And what are those feelings?”
“Good feelings. Something that could grow into love, I think.” She opened her eyes to meet yours.
“Oh,” you said. “...I may share those feelings.”
She closed her eyes again, a satisfied smile on her face. “Good. We’re dating now.”
You blinked in astonishment.
“It’s that easy?” You muttered to yourself. “I thought after getting my string cut, I’d never find love again.”
Hanni abruptly sat up. “What?”
You blanched at her cold tone. “What?”
“You didn’t cut your string?”
Shit. The air became tense, her anger palpable. Your hands tightened around a patch of grass. You bit your lip in shame. “...I’m sorry.”
“When?”
You looked at her in confusion.
“When was it cut?” She asked, exasperated.
“December,” you murmured, your throat clogging up. “The 4th of December.”
“Fuck!” She turned away. “That’s when I cut mine.”
Oh. She stood up and started pacing around in circles, running her hand through her hair in what you thought to be frustration. There was a whirlwind of emotions swirling in your chest — fear, guilt, regret, but also joy, as crazy as it sounded.
Hanni was your soulmate. You had to repeat that to yourself internally to really process it. Of course it would be her. Who else would it be?
You pulled yourself back to reality. Reality being a very distressed Hanni who would blow up and ghost you if you didn’t do something.
“Why did you lie?” You hated how you could hear the raspiness in her voice.
You desperately tried to explain yourself. “I panicked the first time we met. But I never thought to tell you after that because I thought you would hate me for believing in soulmates."
“I’m not that spiteful. It wouldn’t have mattered to me if you believed in soulmates.”
“But we wouldn’t be where we are now,” you reasoned, your voice raw. “We started talking because we bonded over the fact that we both cut our strings.”
“Look at where we’re at now,” Hanni bitterly muttered. “I feel like our relationship is a lie.”
“It’s not,” you stammered. “This doesn’t have to change anything.”
Hanni whipped her head around with a glare. “Of course it changes everything!”
Her eyes softened when you flinched at the harshness of her voice. “Look, it’s just that I genuinely thought that I could finally be loved without either of us being bound by a stupid string.”
You plucked out another strand of grass. “There’s another reason, isn’t there? Of why you hate soulmates so much.”
She stopped walking back and forth. “Yeah.”
“Might as well air everything out, right?” You offered a wry smile.
Silence. You thought that this was the end, but she sat down, a bit further from you than before, and spoke again. “Long story short: I was in love. She was in love with me too. A year into the relationship, she got her string. She didn’t tell me. She just broke up with me and blocked me on everything. Found out days later when one of my friends told me about her new relationship with her soulmate.”
You wanted to reach out and grab her hand to comfort her, but that would have probably just made her hate you more.
“I’m sorry,” you swallowed, an ache in your chest. “You didn’t deserve that.”
“Now that I know we’re soulmates, how do I know if any of our feelings are true? What if this whole relationship, from when we first met to now, was all because of ‘fate’?” Hanni said in a flurry, aggressively ripping out grass. “How much of my feelings are really mine?”
You flattened your hands in the grass to stop them from trembling. “I don’t know. But if we both like each other despite not knowing that we’re soulmates, and even after the fact that our string is cut, doesn’t that mean something? That this was our choice?”
Another pause. You held your breath.
“I need some time to think,” Hanni closed her eyes and exhaled deeply. “You should get going.”
You shakily stood up and took one last glance at her before turning around to leave, your voice small. “Stay safe.”
Tumblr media
You didn’t see Hanni for the next two weeks. She didn’t turn up to the library, and you didn’t expect her to. You still felt a pang of disappointment regardless.
The revelation that Hanni was your soulmate weighed heavily in your mind. But that wasn’t the main issue. It was Hanni’s reaction to the fact that created an uneasy feeling in your chest. You found humor in the way that the thread that binded you together ended up being the thread that unraveled everything.
You cried for the first few nights, because you knew it was all your fault. It was like reliving that day in December all over again. At least you got some form of closure though — an explanation as to why your string was cut. But eventually, you accepted the fact that if this was to work out, you would both have to make a deliberate choice.
Your choice being to wait, and Hanni's being to forgive. You once believed love was all about fate, but after meeting Hanni, you learned that it was about choice, too.
You carried on with your routine as usual, but Hanni’s absence followed you wherever you went. The library room felt emptier, quieter. You just hoped that she was okay, wherever she was.
Was it selfish of you to be celebrating the fact that Hanni was your soulmate, when she clearly resented it? Your feelings for her didn’t change, they were the same before and after the realization that you were soulmates. Again, you hoped she would come to the same conclusion too, and still feel the same.
You didn't try to reach out to her or to find her working on campus. She needed the time and space, and you promised yourself you would wait for her.
The next time you met was not planned. It was a Wednesday, like always, and you had just finished a grueling 3-hour study session. The sky was particularly pink today, and it reminded you of Hanni. You found that a lot of things would remind you of her these days. You missed her greatly.
You decided to go to the lake. You lay down on the grass, closing your eyes. Doing this made you feel closer to Hanni somehow. Your mind meandered and you could imagine her here, doing the exact same thing. The solitude of the lake brought some temporary peace to your restlessness.
You got lost in your thoughts for the next hour before you heard the sound of footsteps, steadily growing louder and louder. Fear ran through your veins before you relaxed at the sound of Hanni’s voice.
“Hey.”
“Hey,” you replied, voice hoarse. You kept your eyes closed. You didn't think you could handle Hanni’s gaze for this conversation. You felt her sit down next to you, her hand brushing against yours. You tried to ignore the goosebumps that followed and the heat radiating off her body.
It was silent for the next few minutes. After a bit, you opened your mouth to speak, but Hanni beat you to it.
“Did you really not know we were soulmates?”
“No,” you confessed. “I knew there was a small possibility, but I thought it was too good to be true.”
You swallowed as there was no response. “...How are you feeling?”
You heard her sigh. “Confused.”
“Can I tell you what my parents said when I asked them for advice?” You asked tentatively.
Hanni made a small noise of approval.
“They told me that the string doesn’t mean you don’t have a choice. The two can coexist. They said there are plenty of people who meet their soulmates, but choose to be friends. And that they can still end up in a happy relationship with someone else.”
You gave yourself time to breathe before continuing. "I know that what happened in the past hurt you. But, don't let that define your view on soulmates. I think love is choice as much as it is fate."
“Thank you,” she breathed out after a while. “I think I realized that in the past two weeks, but I’m just stubborn.”
“And just to be clear,” you started slowly. “I still would have feelings for you. Soulmate or not.”
You felt the weight of the world fall off your shoulders as she replied, “Me too.”
“Hanni,” you bit your lip to stop a growing smile as you tested the waters. “Are we still dating like you said?”
Your smile only widened as you heard her laugh. “That didn’t count.”
Your ears perked up as the sound of Hanni shuffling around filled the air.
“What are you doing?”
“Nothing. Just keep your eyes closed.”
You furrowed your eyebrows as you felt something wrap around your ring finger, but your doubt quickly washed away as you recognized her movement. You waited for her to finish before opening your eyes.
You looked down to see a very real, tangible pink string connecting your ring finger to hers. You grinned as you tugged on it. This was infinitely better than the red string.
“Now it’s official,” Hanni huffed, turning away to look at the lake with the tip of her ears colored pink.
Your heart was full, it felt as though it could erupt at any given moment. “Thank you for choosing me.”
Hanni smiled softly. “And thank you to the string for leading us to each other.”
The two of you watched the sun dip below the horizon, bathing in the soft pink and purple hues.
You think that pink is definitely your favorite color now, though red would always be a close second.
("...There's no more secrets between us right?"
"No," you quietly chuckled. "That's all I have. You?"
"I..." Hanni cleared her throat. "Remember the first time we met? I actually didn't book the room."
You almost broke your neck from how fast you whipped your head to face her. "What?"
There was a guilty smile on her face. "Usually, I just storm into a random room and say that to kick people out. People just believe me and leave."
"Wow," you said in disbelief. Of course Hanni would do something like that. "So why did you let me stay?"
"To be honest, you were kind of pissing me off because of how long you were taking to pack up, and I just wanted to sleep," she admitted sheepishly. "But, let's just say that it was fate."
You rolled your eyes, but you were smiling. "Right. Fate.")

Tumblr media
You were helping your older sister Minji, move her stuff into the dorm that she will be sharing with her members. “Uh, unnie where do I put these?” You questioned as you were holding a box packed with snacks that your mother packed for Minji and her members.
“Just put it on top of the countertop in the kitchen, I’ll organize it later.”
You nodded and left your older sister’s room, ears blasted with music from your headphones.
You hummed as you made your way to the kitchen, not noticing Hanni who came in a few seconds prior.
You were trying to get the snacks out of the cardboard box but couldn’t because it was sealed shut. “Hmm where are the scissors” you asked yourself before turning around with the intentions of asking your sister but to your surprise, Pham Hanni was standing near the door frame.
“Oh sh-“ you were startled after seeing her. “Uh ,sorry for that! Hello, you must be Hanni unnie, I’m Minji unnie’s younger sister!”
You greeted her but she didn’t respond because Hanni Pham was mesmerized by you.
When she first saw you in the kitchen, she was wondering who the pretty girl in the kitchen was but after you greeted her, she couldn’t help but think how your voice is as pretty as your visuals.
But while she was star struck, you were standing awkwardly while waving your hands in front of her. “Hey?”
“Oh sorry, yeah I’m Hanni! You’re Yn right?” She replied, her face shows that she was clearly embarrassed and turning red as well.
You giggled a bit at how red her face is before giving her a reply. “Yep, that’s me!”
The two of you stood still for a while before you asked her where the scissors are at. “Here you go.” She placed the scissor on top of your palm, getting a thank you from you in return.
You shifted your attention to the box of snacks before using the scissor to unpack it.
Hanni who watched you the entire time decided to step in. “Yn, do you need help putting it away?”
“Yeah, that would be nice, thanks unnie.” You smiled at her as you lift one of your favorite snack out of the box unintentionally, gasping after realizing that it’s a box of cookies and cream pepero. “Oh my god I love these! I can’t believe mom put these in for Minji unnie after banning me from eating them!”
Hanni looked at you in confusion. “Why did your mom ban you from eating them?”
“Mom said that I am too addicted to them, honestly so unreasonable, I only eat 3 packs a day! Don’t you think so too?” You told her about the unfairness of the situation, you looked so serious about it that it made you look cute in her eyes.
She found herself subconsciously agreeing with whatever you’ve been rambling about.
“Right? Totally so unfair! But I guess it’s fine because I do eat them behind her back!”
After you finished rambling, she began to laugh and you soon joined her.
Minji, who have been spending a lot of time on organizing her room, heard the loud laughers from the kitchen, so she decided to investigate.
She found you and Hanni laughing endlessly about who knows what. “What are you guys laughing about?”
You and Hanni turned away from each other to face Minji. You waved your hands around dismissively before replying. “Nothing unnie, it’s nothing.”
She nodded at your answer though knowing that it wasn’t true, but she also didn’t want to ask further. Her eyes scanned the room before landing on the pepero that was in your hands.
“Ynnie, you’re not allowed to eat them anymore, you know that!” She exclaimed before snatching the box from your hand.
“Hey! That’s unfair, please can I at least have one piece?!” You begged like a child asking their mom for candy, Hanni found it adorable.
“No way, you’ll only want it more!” Minji refused before running back to her room, leaving you alone with Hanni again.
“Ugh, she’s so mean.” You sulked as you unpack all the other snacks onto the counter.
Watching you sulk, Hanni felt the need to make your frown go away. “If you want them so bad, we can go to the convenience store, I’ll buy them for you!”
“Really?!” You no longer have a frown on your face as it have been replaced by a large smile.
“Yes!” Seeing you so happy made Hanni feel complete.
“Okay, what are we waiting for? Let’s go!” You tugged the sleeve of her hoodie before locking arms with the older girl.
Hanni knew she was down bad when she found herself approving of everything snack you put in the cart.
When you finished putting every snacks you wanted, Hanni brought them to the check out, it came up to 85$. Hanni was crying on the inside but seeing your million dollar smile definitely made her moneys worth.
The two of you made your way back to the dorm, you were eating your ice cream while Hanni was occupied with holding the bag of snacks that she bought you.
You offered to hold it at first but Hanni insisted that since she was older, she’s the one who should hold it.
Minji jaw dropped when she saw the snacks in the bags.
That day, both you and Hanni got scolded by Minji. You for spending all of Hanni’s money, and Hanni for buying the snacks that you weren’t supposed to be eating.
Hanni got scolded more though but she didn’t care because in the end, it was worth it knowing that your happiness came from her.
Author’s note: Hi :) this is my first post and hopefully more to come!

Hanni x Reader: Where the River takes you
Tumblr media
Permanent Taglist: @cwpiqwon@justme-idle
"Deep breaths babe." Hanni whispered, her hand over yours, pressing your hand down slightly in an attempt to center you.
"What if I messed this one up too Han, like the first one?" You whispered, head laying on Hanni's shoulder. "You're going to be just fine babe, don't worry." Hanni's voice was just like her namesake, smooth and soothing, and it held you down amidst your worries and fears. Your attention was then drawn by your principal, standing atop the school stage as he began to address the student body. "Good Afternoon Students, it's been awhile since I last spoke to you all." The principal began a speech, droning on as you began to ignore his speech, head down as you tried to calm down. Seeing you tense in your seat, Hanni squeezed your hand, a concerned look on her face. "And now, the fruits of your labours. Please turn to your civics tutors, who will be handing you your result slips." Finally, the principal's speech had ended, and now, time to face the music, as it were. Hanni nudged you, pulling you back to the present. Cupping your face in her hand, she gave you a reassuring smile, leaning in to give you a light kiss on the forehead, prompting you to return a light smile, before getting up from your seat. This was it. You walked to your civics tutor, someone you considered a good friend, Mr William, a big smile you had grown accustomed to adorned his face. Noticing your shaking hands, he put his hand on your shoulder, a smile as he reassured you. "You did great kid. I'm proud of you." He said, handing you your result slip. Returning the smile, you took the folder with the result slip, walking to join Hanni at a rather unpopulated corner of the auditorium Opening the folder, you glanced at your results, face unmoving. Opposite to you, Hanni tried to analyse your facial expressions, but to no avail. You dug into your bag, digging around frantically, before finally fishing your phone out. After a few swipes, your shoulder drooped, head looking to the ceiling in an expression that Hanni could only categorise as despair. "I'm going to need a minute alone." You whispered, putting the folder in Hanni's hands before rushing off. Curious, Hanni peeled the folder back, glancing at the results, causing her confusion to compound twofold. Slotting the folder into her bag, she ran out of the auditorium, going to the spot she knew you to be. However, she had to stop somewhere first.
Knocking the door to your old classroom, Hanni peeked in, seeing you with your head buried in your hands, shoulders heaving up and down. Hanni stood there in shock, the two of you had been dating for a few years, but Hanni had never seen you like this before. Whenever Hanni was overwhelmed from exams, or exhausted after hours and hours of dance training, when she was on the verge of breaking down, you were always there, like a rock grounded amidst the raging current of life. Now the roles were reversed, for the first time, you were the one crying, not Hanni. So, it was Hanni's turn to be the rock, the same way you were hers. Approaching you from the back, Mr William's words rang in her head once again, and Hanni knew he was right. You had to be in the top 10 percentile of the school. What was wrong? But to her, none of that mattered. Your grades didn't matter to her, how you did didn't matter to her. As silent as she could, Hanni got to your side, setting down a cup of hot chocolate, marshmallows bobbing up and down once the cup clicked onto the ground. Now aware of Hanni's presence, you quickly moved your hand to wipe your blood shot eyes. Hanni's hand caught your wrist, concern evident. She lightly shifted the cup a little closer to you, before she reached her hand across your face, a gentle smile on her face, lightly cupping your face then running her hair through your hair. "It's okay my love. I'm here for you. Just, break, alright? It's okay to break, I'll be here." As if waiting for permission, once you heard those words, you buried your face into her shoulder, Hanni initially taken aback, but quickly wrapping her hands around you, a gentle but firm hold to calm you, lightly patting you on the back as she whispered sweet nothings, reassuring you that she was there, and that it was going to be okay. When you retreated from the secure comfort that was Hanni, she smiled, picking up the cup and handing it to you. You gingerly took the cup, trying to supress a hiccup, then sipping the hot beverage, slowing your breath to a steady pace.
"Can you tell me what's wrong babe?" Hanni asked, hazel brown eyes peering into yours. You unlocked your phone, then sliding it to Hanni. In a glance, Hanni realised what happened. "I wasn't good enough. I just can't believe I let it happen again." You whispered, the tone of self loathing and despair breaking Hanni's heart. Your grades were good, great even, but they fell short. As if a curse that had befallen you, you always had a habit of underperforming during national exams. Your preliminary grades were always good enough to go to the best schools, your target school, but when it came to national exams, well, that was another story. "Babe, remember what you told me when we first met?" Hanni asked, pulling you in. "How I wasn't supposed to meet you, but I was happy that I did?" You chuckled, remembering how awkward you were with her. "Yeh. You didn't do the greatest for the first national exams, and did the world end? No. But what happens?" Hanni playfully shook you "I met you." You whispered with a small smile. "That's right. You told me that you didn't regret any of it, and you shouldn't! I know you tried your best, because after you tucked me into bed at night, you'd stayed up studying, and you'd put in your all for every single exam that you did." Hanni ran her fingers through your hair once again, before she lowered her hand to your chin, raising your head up as she looked lovingly into your eyes. "Sure, sometimes things don't go the way we want it, maybe we don't get what we initially wanted, but it's not a stop, it's just a detour, and maybe you'll find some gems along the way, present company included." Hanni said with a proud smirk, causing you to laugh, playfully elbowing her. "Keep it down Pham Mario." Rolling her eyes, Hanni continued. "So, L/N Peach, trust in how it all goes. You do your best, and that's enough. You're one of the most capable people I know, and if anyone can handle whatever curveballs the world throws at you, it's you, my love. So, just grow as we go, and go where the River takes you. And through all of it, know that no matter what happens, I'll be right by your side in that river, in the same boat, rowing along with you." Tears forming in your eyes once again, you smiled, leaning down and giving Hanni a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Thank you mi vida."
Walking out of the classroom, Hanni leaned into your chest, your larger stature providing her security and comfort. "Wait, Han." You said, a devious idea popping into you head. "Hmm?" Hanni hummed in response. "So if I go where the river takes me, does it mean I'm going to go somewhere else, and find someone else?" You teased, as Hanni's face soured, pulling away from you and glared at you. "Watch yourself, I might be small, but all that means is that I'm closer to hell, and a hell of a lot more dangerous where ankles are involved." Hanni shot back, causing you to laugh heartily. Hanni always had that effect on you. "Don't worry, Han, I'm yours, and you're mine. We'll row together alright?" You reassured, as Hanni smiled, then diving into you again.
