What if in this au the reason Akako is obssessed with Kaito is not because she wants him to love her, she wants to catch him.

Also, maybe she discovered his identity because her family is very attuned to sinister and psychic types of pokemon, so she could sense that he was a pokemon 🤔

inspired by @livmadart and their phantump conan au, a pokémon mystery dungeons au

shin and heiji gets the normal pmd treatment, no memories and was recently turned into a pokémon

ran fills the role of the partner in every game

they eventually run into kaito (a shiny zorua masquerading as a person) and saguru (the descendant of the human from the ninetales legend in the red and blue pmd game, who was turned into a rowlett for being an arrogant prick) who are trying to get saguru back to normal after aoko accidentally caught him

shenanigans ensue. even without memories heiji hates saguru and takes all opportunities to use his larger size to mess with him

@livmadart conan phantump au is Living in my brain.

So anyway everyone's team and my reasoning. It's kinda long so click for more.

Ace Trainer, fought all the gem leaders and elite four Ran Mouri.

She got Bulbasaur, now a Venusaur, from professor oak. primeape. Fearow, Raichu, Clefable, and Slowbro. A decently well balanced Kanto team. She's never really had the chance to visit or catch other region's Pokemon.

Detective "Not A Trainor" Shinichi Kudo

Got a Charmander, now Charmeleon, from oak at the same time. Hasn't fully evolved bc they're too busy solving mysteries to train. An Umbreon that evolved when they stayed up late to read, and a Togedemaru he found in "Hawaii" Alola.

Sonoko Trainor and Coordinator.

She has an everstone Wartortle, received from prof oak at the same time as the last two, an Arcanine (hehe big dog) and A shiny Delcatty she was gifted by her grandfather. She does more contests but she often has to go to other regions for that. Kanto doesn't have its own contest circuit.

The Detective boys are Pokemon in their au but if I gave them ones it'd be

Haibara only ever had an Espeon. (Hehe parallels)

The other three detective boys all have baby Pokemon.

Ayumi has a Pichu

Mitsuhiko has a Mime Jr

Genta has a magbe

Agasa has a Mr. Mime

Rans mom has a persian but her dad doesn't have a Pokemon at all.

Now I think it'd be funky to make Osaka Johto.

Hattori is an enigma. His first Pokemon was a honedge. (Literally the chosan one Pokemon and a sword) No one knows what it was even doing in Johto. No it's NOT a literal ghost. It is a Duoedge now. His second was Heracross and he also has an Unknown Question Mark. (Literally the ? Pokemon) That's his team. He battles but like Kudo he's far too busy playing private investigator to get into battling. He can speak to Pokemon and keeps seeing and MEETING legendaries.

Kazuha is an actual Trainor

She's got a Smeargle, Scizor, Crobat, Lanturn, ambipom, and Granbull. (Yes it's a competitively viable Smeargle)

Now onto Magic Kaito.

Kaito is a Zoroark but "has" a butterfree. (They're friends :3) And kid has a bunch of pidoves.

Aoko has a Gyarados, and Machamp. She tried battles but decided it wasn't for her.

Akako has an Alakazam and spiritomb. (Witch)

Saguru has a Corviknight (I found the most extra galar bird. Something to really mimic owning a FUCKING hawk)

I think it’s sooo funny he just outright insulted KID’s outfit. At least in this AU, he doesn’t realize KID can understand him. Conan’s thrown off guard when Kaito reveals this, and he doesn’t learn the whole truth after a few heists have passed

phantump au, people have probably noticed that during KID's heist a zorua and a phantump appear together. There is a rummor that they are KID's pokemon and help with the heist. (not technically wrong in one way)

Hmmm how would Ran feel about this seemingly wild zorua randomly coming to play with her little ghost?? :3 say she steps in the yard one day to see poachers trying to steal the rare duo? Kaito has witnessed the fear of God! He will never tease Conan about her babying them again..

She would be like oh!! Conan has a little friend how sweet!! And then Kaito gets to experience newfound horrors :)

Zorua Kaito is so special to me. He's just a little guy♡ in my own AU I did something similar with him (I've made him a shiny mew because he is the specialest boy to me) but the Zorua thing is just so perfect! Do you have any ideas as to how exactly Conan found out about it?

Aww thank you I’m very glad you like him in this au!! He is indeed the specialist boy ever and that also fits him very well! I have a whole comic planned, that mirrors the ending of last wizards of the century—but for now, here is a little sketch!

As in this post, he starts dropping hints just about as soon as they meet, but thinks it’s funny to taunt Conan for quite a while
