As an educator and researcher myself, I felt it to be worth investigating to see how the ADP3450 works, how it performs compared to contemporary devices and its specifications, and how useful its Linux Mode can be.

The Analog Discovery Pro ADP3450 seems to be the “grown-up” brother to the Analog Discovery 2, offering higher specifications, improved connectivity and autonomy with an increased price-tag, while retaining the use of the Digilent WaveForms software and its multi-instrument integrations that made the original so useful. The ethos behind those devices was to offer basic but usable instruments for the cost of no more than an average textbook, enabling students to do laboratory exercises from the comfort of their own home and offering them an instrument they may find useful into the future. Those who may be familiar with the original Analog Discovery and Analog Discovery 2 would know these devices to be an educator’s favourite. Towards the end of last year, I was fortunate enough to be selected for the Digilent Analog Discovery Pro ADP3450 USB/Ethernet Mixed Signal Oscilloscope RoadTest. This comes delayed as I've hit a bug with the RoadTest form submission that needed to be worked out. Please bear with me in case of any formatting or presentation issues – I’m still working my way around the new layout. Abstract
ObjectivesWe determined the usefulness of C-MAC video laryngoscope (C-MAC) as a safe training tool for the direct laryngoscopy technique in the emergency department.MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed an institutional airway registry of adult (≥18 years old) patients from April 2014 through October 2016. In this study, the operator used C-MAC as a direct laryngoscope (DL) with limited access to the screen, and the supervisor instructed the operator via verbal feedback while watching the screen. Patients were categorized into the DL group if a conventional DL was used and the C-DL group if a C-MAC used as a DL.ResultsOf 744 endotracheal intubations, 163 propensity score-matched pairs were generated (1-to-n matching: C-DL group, 163 vs. DL group, 428). For the propensity-matched groups, the overall first pass success rate was 69%, while those in the C-DL and DL groups were 79% and 65%, respectively. Overall, multiple attempts were required in 8% of patients, with 4% in the C-DL group and 9% in the DL group. The overall complication rate was 11%, with 4% in the C-DL group and 14% in the DL group. In multivariable analysis, the adjusted odds ratios of C-DL use for first pass success, multiple attempts, and complications were 2.05 (95% confidence interval (CI) 1.18-2.87, p ConclusionsOur study suggests that the C-MAC could be useful for training residents in the direct laryngoscopy while ensuring patient safety in the emergency department.

You can install this software anywhere, but I recommend installing it in the default directory: C:MinGW.
Click Continue.
The following pop-up window will appear, showing the downloading progress. After about a minute, it should appear as follows.
Click Continue.
The following pop-up window will appear. Ensure on the left that Basic Setup is highlighted. Click the three boxes indicated below: mingw32-base, mingw32-gcc=g++, msys-base. After clicking each, select Mark for selection. This window should appear as follows.
Terminate (click X on) the MinGW Installation Manager (I know this is weird).

Click Review Change
The following pop-up window should appear
Click Apply.
The following pop-up window will appear, showing the downloading progress.
After a while (a few minutes to an hour, depending on your download speed), it should start extracting the donwloaded files. A few minutes after that, the following pop-up window should appear.
Click Close.
Edit Path so that the MinGW and MSYSM software is findable by Eclipse.
Click Start
Click Control Panel

Click Advance system settings; you will see
Click Enviroment Variables...; you will see
In the System variables (lower) part, scroll to line starting with Path and click that line. IMPORTANT: Even though you see a highlighted PATH in the User variables (top part) look for Path (not CLASSPATH) in the lower part to change it.
Click Edit...
Copy C:MinGWbin;C:MinGWmsys1.0bin; (include everything from C to ;) and then paste it at the very start of the Variable Value text entry.
When done it should look like

Laser takes pictures of electrons in crystals
Microscopes of visible light allow scientists to see tiny objects such living cells. Yet, they cannot discern how electrons are distributed among atoms in solids. Now, researchers with Prof. Eleftherios Goulielmakis of the Extreme Photonics Labs at the University of Rostock and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching, Germany, along with coworkers of the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, have developed a new type of a light microscope, called the Picoscope, that overcomes this limitation.
The researchers used powerful laser flashes to irradiate thin films of crystalline materials. These laser pulses drove crystal electrons into a fast wiggling motion. As the electrons bounced off the surrounding electrons, they emitted radiation in the extreme ultraviolet part of the spectrum. By analyzing the properties of this radiation, the researchers composed pictures that illustrate how the electron cloud is distributed among atoms in the crystal lattice of solids with a resolution of a few tens of picometers, which are billionths of a millimeter. The experiments pave the way for a new class of laser-based microscopes that could allow physicists, chemists, and material scientists to peer into the details of the microcosm with unprecedented resolution and to understand and eventually control the chemical and the electronic properties of materials.

Dear Polarity Practitioner,
In this incarnation, I have never traveled to a negative polarity universe. Though I can recall memories of my prior, singular self now that I reside in the Realm of the Primes, in many places they are fuzzy and distorted. I can clearly recall a reluctance to travel to such realities, fearful of what their inverted laws of nature might do to my dimensionally-transcendental being—an uncertainty that I do not believe I would have felt had I ever tested the idea—and yet, in the depths of my memory banks I occasionally catch glimpses of strange data, information which I have no context for, memories from beings antithetical to what I think of as "me". A meddling monk, interfering with history for his own personal amusement or gain... a cold, detached intellectual, treating other beings as test subjects, just as a scientist with a picoscope studies nanocons in a drop of oil... a violent authoritarian, delivering twisted justice to anyone who dares interfere with the fourth dimension. The idea that any of these could be a part of my fundamental nature is an idea that I find deeply disturbing.
From my current dwelling place, I can see from the perspectives of countless other incarnations of myself, stretching across the multiverse... and yet, I cannot see through the eyes of any such inverted Vector Primes. I do not know yet whether this is cause for relief or concern, but in my experience, such unexpected upheavals are rarely something to be celebrated.

According to the research paper, the malware detection system was developed using a Raspberry Pi that scans devices for specific electromagnetic waves in conjunction with a Picoscope 6407 oscilloscope (cost around $15,000 US) and an H-Field probe to detect EM field changes. They then used Convolution Neural Networks (neural networks use three-dimensional data to for image classification and object recognition tasks) to evaluate the data for threats. They recorded 100,000 measurement traces from an IoT device infected by various in-the-wild malware samples and realistic benign activity to train the malware detection system provided accuracy as high as 99.82% during testing.
The paper itself can be bought online for $15, you can get a used Picoscope 6407 for around $8,000, you can build an H-Field probe yourself, and you can build a CNN using Python, Python libraries including NumPy and TensorFlow, and the right datasets. Now to buy the paper and see if they give sufficient information for me to duplicate their work (I’d have figure out if I could use a cheaper oscilloscope because I’m not paying eight grand just to fool around with this).
