Interesting I never knew this. Poor babies now I feel differently about them.

Then we got telephones and we threw them out like trash.

Their species had already been fully domesticated and they could not survive in the wild; they lost all their survival instincts during the centuries that they lived caged by people.

That is why they live in cities with people instead of in a forest somewhere. It's OUR fault. And not only did we throw them away, but now humans curse them as "winged rats;" casting them as pests.

But they don't know how to live without us, and their instincts tell us that they should trust us. So, they continue to come up to humans and beg for food, because it's the only survival skill left in their genes.

They love us because they were bred by us to feel that way, and yet we hate them."

What resources would you suggest to someone wanting to get their first pidgeon? Google overwhelmed me with its answers >>

Same thing happened to me 😂 Palomacy is a great one, (http://www.pigeonrescue.org) you can also check out my bird care tag (tinysaurus-rex.tumblr.com/tagged/bird-care). The pigeon forums (pigeons.biz/forums) are okay, but I notice it's difficult to find people that keep single birds as indoor pets, a lot of the folks there are breeders. I've spoken to the person who runs the Pigeons as Pets fb page and used to keep a blog (https://m.facebook.com/pigeonsaspets/) a few times and they have a few resources. @crisscrosscutout made a big piece on pigeon care but I LOST IT! I used to have it saved on my phone but it is gone ;-; I'll be doing my own write up eventually but I'm still working on citing resources besides myself hehe.

I guess I'll share my pige Goldy here since no one else wants to see him. This is my child. He is very silly and has a wide range of emotions he expresses through noise, dance, and by puffing his feathers. I'm basically his pigeon wife (how he sees me).

Baths are his favorite, they turn him into a kreechur.
