Sally: Percy, remember the stories I’ve told you - the Greek myths - I’ve been preparing you for the day when you have to grapple with what you are. Hold on to those stories. Be strong. Brave the storm.
Grover: Percy. Listen. I have been prepping you for your destiny via Mythomagic cards. The Minotaur will be wearing tighty-whities. Remember this it will be important.

I'm rewatching the PJO TV series bc my life is imploding (again) and I need to ✨feel something✨, so here is a running list of
🔱 Times Walker Scobell Made Me Cry 🔱
1) "I'm not a god! There's something wrong with my brain. I understand that I'm weird, believe me, I get it, but I'm afraid something may be really broken now." - S1E1 (look. If you know, you know. If you don't, I'm so so glad)

PJO (TV) S1E1 -- little things I like
Mythomagic cards
Mr. Kane (crossover potential?)
How much Percy hated the word "special" and the stories his mom and Mr Brunner told him, because "special" was just a nice way to say " weird" to him, and because all the stories only made him feel worse in " real life".
How nervous and sad and scared Grover looked before he betrayed Percy and made him kicked out of the school. He hugged himself so tightly. I love him...
Gabe looked like such a loser it's almost funny
Percy's muffled " It really wasn't my fault" when he was pulled into Sally's big wet hug. It broke my heart...
Di Angelo's
" like Jesus?"
Percy's confused face through the whole episode
" So the important thing is not to panic." (Did I mention I love Grover?)
Also, the end credit is gorgeous!! Love it so much! I like it when a show spends effort on the opening and ending sequences.

PJO S1E1
THE OPENING NARRATION (I swear that's how the first book opened, but forgive me if I'm wrong. It's been like eight years since I read it.)
Sorry, Percy, that Pegasus was not your imagination.
GROVER, MY BELOVED.
Ooh, black Chiron. I dig it.
"Not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero, and not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster." This line is everything.
Like so many other people have said, they've done an incredible job portraying this angle of ADHD through Percy. I feel seen.
Mrs. Dodds is just as unbearable as always.
The way the Mist stops affecting Percy- and you can tell that it's only wearing off on him because nobody else so much as looks his way. No one saw a thing, and poor Percy was getting attacked by who he'd thought to be his teacher. And then they all just. forgot she ever existed. I love seeing the Mist get its justice in the show.
Grover, you adorable little traitor. How dare you. (Not actually offended, because she knows where they end up anyway)
Chiron approaching Percy to get a grasp on if he needs to get moved yet or not. To give a comforting hand to a kid that's been laughed at for so long that he won't tell the truth.
WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE GUY WHO PLAYS EDDIE THE PLUMBER. I RECOGNIZE HIM. (He looks like the guy who plays Carson Teva in Mando)
Gabe is worse than I remember.
Sally literally knew as soon as Percy said "I'm scared" what was happening and that she needs to get him the fuck out of actual society.
"I am not a god. There is something wrong with my brain!" 😭
Percy, you have no right to be bad at your mom for not telling you stuff after you didn't believe her.
Ayyyy, the canonical satyr age of being older than you look is also here.
"You're gonna need to be brave now." 😭
And all is revealed. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood.
Oooh, a next-episode preview

PJO (TV) S1E1-2
Some thoughts in first watch.
<Casting> Perfect. Seriously. I did have a different imagination of each character’s appearance, but other than that it was on point!
<Adaptation choice> It seemed that they decided not to play mysterious and gave the explanations quite fast. At first it made me feel less drawn in and less excited, but after 2 episodes, I think it was a good choice. The story of Percy Jackson is so well-known already, it wouldn't do any good to pretend the majority of the audience already knows of Percy's power or the identity of the monster. It was actually nice to see characters being more observant and less secretive. It also helped speed up the story. I thought a TV series was enough to portray every detail in a book, but it seemed that it was still a little rushed.
<Camp Half-Blood> It's beautiful!! So much better than I expected. The lighting and colouring of the show overall were already great, adding to the beautiful and realistic camp buildings and facilities. Hermes cabin wasn't as crowded as I would have liked though.
<Pacing> I thought the pacing was a little weird. Or maybe it was other things. But I felt like the climax scenes (i.e. every time Percy showed his power or killed a monster) were not very satisfying. They seemed to be rushed over. I didn't have enough time to linger on the excitement or other emotions. Although the individual scenes were not fast-paced, the transition was so compact that the emotional beats were a little weak.
