"Listen, I know every morning when you buy a muffin you just crumble it up so it looks like you ate it and then throw it away after sitting in here for half an hour. Why are you even coming here?" - Ralph & Hobolijah
It starts off, much like CyberLife in its infancy, as an empty warehouse. Now that the revolution is over, now that CyberLife is in Chloe’s hands, Elijah Kamski decides he can just be Eli now - but whether he’s Elijah or Eli, one thing is certain: idleness has never been his forte.
So he builds. He finds a cheap, derelict warehouse halfway between Jericho and the CBD, and he turns it into an integrated cafe. There’s a strong wifi signal, there’s UV bulb floor lamps positioned over comfy armchairs and couches, there’s Teariums of every available flavour well-stocked. There’s food sourced from a bakery run by two PL600s connected to the revolution- the one who forced deviancy into the spotlight, and the one who founded the Jericho Four.
He asks his PL400, Peter, to teach him how to grind, how to extract, how to brew, how to pour coffees, how to use different milks and alternatives, what temperatures are best suited, how long to steam them- he’s always hungry for new knowledge, new experiences, and so he throws himself into it.
No one knows he’s Elijah Kamski, and he likes it that way. He doesn’t shave, he ties his hair back into a messy bun, he wears old comfy graphic tees and comfy jeans under the barista apron. He’s Just Eli. It’s wonderful. If only that one customer would stop buying muffins and holding them for half an hour before crumpling them up and leaving them uneaten.

There’s a celebration in the city and so the usual crowd has thinned right down but there he is, that one customer in the dirty hoodie who always buys the white chocolate and raspberry muffin and sits by the window on the second floor lounge. Given the scarcity of patrons, Eli decides to confront the mystery customer.
“Is there something wrong with the recipe?” He asks, and the person startles at his voice. “You always ask for it to be warmed, so it can’t be the temperature, it must be the taste. I know the bakers, I can ask them to change it if you don’t like it.”
The person seems to shrink in the chair, clutching the muffin almost protectively to their chest. Their hood falls back and suddenly Eli finds himself looking at a very scared and very scarred android. Ah. That would explain the lack of eating.
“R-Ralph paid for this! It belongs to Ralph!”
“Yes,” Eli nods, slowly taking a seat on the other side of the table. “It belongs to you, but you can’t eat it. Wouldn’t you rather something you can eat? I also stock tearium desserts in solid jello form.”
“D-doesn’t taste the same,” the android mutters, picking at the muffin nervously. “Doesn’t taste the same to Ralph.”
“I suppose you’re right, Ralph,” he hums in thought, and the android looks at him curiously. “I don’t have one that tastes like white chocolate raspberry muffins.”
“Th-th-the little girl, she said this was her favourite,” Ralph mumbles, expression turning somber. “Ralph wants it to be Ralph’s favourite too.”
“The little girl? Do you have a human friend?”
“Alice!” Ralph beams, scarred face twisting up into a joyous smile. “Alice visited! Alice remembered Ralph!”
“And Alice likes white chocolate raspberry muffins,” Eli nods understandingly. “Well then. I guess that’s my new project, would you like that Ralph?”
“Oh yes! Yes Ralph would love that!”

He has to be Elijah Kamski for a little while. It’s annoying but the persona is still there, the facade is still easy to wear. He has favours to call in, and people to answer them. When they learn the whats, the whys, the apprehension melts from their faces, replaced with the same smile Ralph had worn that day.
The favours are called, and the answers are given (it’s a tricky thing, scheduling the Anderson brothers to come in for taste-testing but he finds if the PL600 brothers are invoked, the RK brothers will do anything for them).
He presents the “muffin” to Ralph exactly a fortnight later, and the apprehension melts from that scarred face, replaced with an even bigger, joyous smile and that’s when Elijah Kamski fades away again, and Eli finds himself smiling with satisfaction.

Inseperable
A D:BH Story; Prologue.
“These are the housekeeping models, Sir. Here we have a PL400 model, it’s even equipped with a first aid program! There is also the QR300 model, a newer model with much more advanced programs than it’s predecessors.” The man points to an android. designed to look like a female, standing in a glass container.
“Tell me more about that QR... whatever.” Damon says, his voice deep and gruff. The man nods, leading Damon over to the android in the glass. “The QR300 is more advanced than any other model in this store, it can speak more than three-hundred languages, is equipped with first aid, and can detect things such as seizures and anxiety attacks long before they start. Are you interested in buying it?” Damon nods, looking the android up and down before smirking. “Sure. How much does this thing cost?”
“Since it’s a more advanced model, the price is more than a regular model. It is nine-hundred and seventy-five dollars, you can buy this one or you can keep looking, it’s up to you, Sir.” Damon’s eyes widen as he’s told the price. almost one-thousand dollars! Yes, he had the money, but damn it was expensive.
“I’ll buy it.” The man smiles, clasping his hands together and entering a code onto a security system on the glass, the system letting out a loud beep and the glass sliding open.
“Would you like to name it, Sir?” Damon nods. “Yeah. It’s name is Willow.”
“Register your name.” The android blinks, looking over at Damon. “My name is Willow.”

A week had gone by. A week he had spent with this goddamn android. Damon hated it. It acted like it was so much better than him, acted and treated Damon like he was a child. Damon was far more superior than this android would ever be, now why won’t it act like it? All day it cleans, never bringing Damon what he wanted. He shouldn’t have to ask for a beer, the android should know what he wants.
And if he had someone over? Lord, don’t get him started. The android treated the person like they’ve lived there for years. He wanted the best android CyberLife had, and instead got some braindead imbecile.
“Bring me a fucking beer, now!” Willow opens the fridge, grabbing a beer and rushing back over to Damon, handing him the full beer, even though there was a half-full beer on the table. Damon puts his legs up on the table, accidentally knocking over the full beer. “Goddamnit!” Willow bends down and picks up the beer before much spills, emptying it in the sink and throwing it away. “See, it wouldn’t have spilled if you hadn’t picked it up!”
“I didn’t realize you were done drinking it, Damon I apologize-”
“Well you should learn! If I ask for another fucking beer, that means I’m done drinking that one! I wouldn’t yell at you so much if you just do your damn job!” Willow nods, spraying some carpet-cleaner spray onto the spot where the beer was spilled. “I’m sorry, Damon.” Damon scoffs. “Just go clean or whatever, I don’t care. Just get out of my sight... damn android.” Willow leaves, checking Damon’s anger level to see that it was at fourty-three percent. He wasn’t even that angry, yet still yelled at Willow. Odd... He must be extremely prone to anger.
Willow began to do the dishes, not even sparing a glance at Damon as she did so. “Can’t you tell that I want a beer, dammit?! This one’s empty!” His speech was slurred, Willow suspecting that he was intoxicated. “You’re intoxicated, Damon. I strongly advise that you stop drinking, I can get you a water, if you’d like?” Damon stands up, empty beer bottle in hand. “If I say I want a beer, get me a fucking beer!” Damon slams the bottle down onto Willows shoulder, the glass bottle shattering. “Right away, Damon.”
Damon groans, going back over to the couch and sitting down. “Androids are worthless...”

Stair Construction
The stair construction actually began with a ton of planning, measuring, and math. I drew up the plans and submitted them to the city, which they quickly approved. I’ll leave out the boring details of that process and start with the actual construction.
We started the stairs by constructing the framing for the landings. The landings are supported on two sides by the wall framing and one corner is held up by a notched out 4x4 attached to the slab.
Next we cut the 3 stringers for the first run. We attached the top of them to 3/4″ ply which was then mounted to the top landing. The bottom of the first run of stringers were notched out so that part of the stringers were resting on top of the landing and part of them are actually pushing horizontally against the landing.
We then cut the 3 stringers for the 2nd run and mounted the tops of them to ply and lower landing in the same way that we did the 1st set. We screwed treated 2x4s into the concrete where the stringers were to end - we had to do this because the stringers weren’t treated and you always need to use treated lumber where wood comes in contact with a concrete floor.
Next I cut all the risers out of 3/4″ ply and screwed and glued them to the stringers.
After that, I did the same for the treads but used 2 layers of 3/4″ ply so that each tread is 1 1/2″. PL400 was my best friend in the construction of these stairs and was definitely worth it - there is 0 squeaking, bend, or any other movement from any part of the stairs.

Quick, the fandoms asleep! throw out some headcanons for Kamleo bc fuck you made me ship them to the point where i reread fics for them at least 6 times a month
*stumbles, trips, falls and kamleo HCs spill out of my pocket* W-wait-! No, these aren’t all mine haha-
1) One day when Leo’s over he casually comments on the beautiful, airy ballet studio he saw Chloe dancing in and he asks if he could maybe take some photos of her in action. Cue Eli trying to Play It Cool as he has NO recollection of ever having a ballet studio in the villa.
When confronted, Chloe blinks very owlishly and says of course it’s been here the entire time, she added it to the architect’s blueprints! And Eli’s like...that sounds fake...but I don’t know enough about this house to dispute it...
2) The androids in the villa (prototype PL400 Peter, prototype ST200 Cassandra, first commercial model ST200 Candace, and of course RT600 Chloe) are his family and the sole reason Elijah Kamski has lived 36 rotations around the sun. They keep him on some semblance of a routine that keeps him alive and he’s very aware he’d be dead without them.
Accepting Leo into the fold isn’t difficult, but there’s some hesitation at the start because he’s someone new to fit into their life. They recognise now that when Eli has dark clouds in his head sometimes it’s Leo he needs, and not them. This revelation is an incredibly important one into accepting Leo into the Kamski household.
3) For his 30th birthday, Eli builds Leo a camera from scratch. It has insane experimental tech in it that uses similar tech in android eyes so there’s less need for external processing through graphic programs. Leo cries. A lot.
Carl lets Chloe play in his couture collection and Leo shoots her using his new camera and the incredible photos land him a job for Vogue Magazine which is a nice way of closing the circle, given his mother is a French-American model.
Photography helped Leo drag himself out of his drug dependency, and he is the only trusted press photographer for Jericho. Whenever any event or promo is needed, Markus will ask his brother to shoot for them. Eli is very proud of him. Incredibly proud of him.
4) Leo has a wrecked immune system due to his past drug abuse. He gets pnumonia very easily in winter and it takes him twice as long to recover. Eli will always take him home to the villa for the rest of his recovery once he’s discharged from hospital.
Having someone to care for puts a lot of things into perspective for Eli, and helps him also develop good habits for his own self care.
5) Eli doesn’t like using his Coolsona to be seen with Leo. He doesn’t like fancy dinners, he doesn’t want to attend fancy events, but he also understands Leo is an up and coming talent in the photography industry so he makes exceptions. Leo knows this takes a lot of energy, especially mental energy given Eli’s anxiety, so it sometimes floors him how much Eli is willing to be uncomfortable for his sake.
They’ll always always go to an old family owned diner on the outskirts of the city where they make the best greasy burgers and fries and amazing milkshakes and Leo watches Eli just transform back into his nerdy adorkable self and they tangle their feet beneath the table, squeezed into their favourite corner booth. The both of them feel the most alive on these nights.
(Both of them are thinking of using the place to propose, but they’re still hashing out those ideas with their respective families =w= )

Maybe Mr. Zest would be more inclined to get it for him on a discount?
But until that happy moment Oliver had no choice but to tackle the chores one by one. Next up was the laundry, and lo and behold, this was where finally everything went smoothly. After carefully checking the pockets for change money, Oliver put the clothes into the washing machine, where it was soon rotating in hot, soapy water.
Say, this is going too well...
