I make jokes about how I'm a cripple and that's why I work with Apollo because I find it extremely funny. While it isn't totally true it still does hold a fair amount of weight.

This might get me cancelled, but idc, so...

Fanfiction is supposed to be transgressive. It is supposed to be about looking at something and saying "I could go somewhere interesting with that", "That was stupid, I could fix that", "I can make that better", "I can make that happen", "I can make them fall in love", "I can make them happy".

It's why one of my fandoms had about 30% more works shipping the main character with her (male) best friend as opposed to the guy she marries in the show. People looked at it and said "That isn't right. This is better". So they made it themselves.

But guess what? Shipping her or just liking her more with her love interest was still more popular amongst more casual audiences. And the fanon shippers were surprised by this!

It's why I am baffled by the things I see stated online.

People thinking that there being more fanfiction about a particular ship means more people ship it, as if one fan writes a fic each and then leaves and as if there are no people who ship it and just don't write fic? Because they are not writers?

People being surprised that main characters are shipped with other main characters more as opposed to a character that appears in one episode.

People being surprised that people can believe a character is straight in canon and still enjoy fanon slash ships where he's shipped with other men.

Of course there will always be more M/M works than M/F works. We have enough heterosexuality in media already and as for F/F, while queer women do write F/F fanfic, there aren't that many queer women in the world statistically as opposed to straight women and even if fandom has a larger number of queer women than average, queer women write M/M works too.

You can believe this is Problematic, but guess what, back then, we were all freaks and weirdos. People would share links on obscure websites because they were scared of being sued. Professional writers would purge all their fanfiction and pray to god no one ever finds out. And if you wrote gay fanfiction? Good luck being taken seriously anywhere.

We went from "ship and let ship" and "don't like don't read" to "supporting this platonic surrogate father-son bond makes you a bigot because the father figure once made an ignorant comment" and "it's problematic to ship the hero with the villain because the hero is scared of him".

Fandom stopped being about Liking and Enjoying things and started being about Fighting People and Proving You're Right and Your Ship is Better. Because if you don't become canon, if you don't Win, what is even the point?

Of course it will be like that, when you tell people shipping something is Activism and not shipping something makes them a Bad Person and shipping something you morally disagree with makes them a Bad Person and more importantly makes you a Good Person for fighting the important battle of stopping people from imagining two imaginary people kissing in their heads.

Shipping is a feeling. Sometimes it's "I ship this, hehehe." Sometimes its "Oh no, I ship this and I wish I didn't." Sometimes it's "I wish I shipped this but I can't." It's supposed to be fun and not a form of mental torture.

It's not a choice. It's not writing fanfiction or making fanart, that comes later, but it's not even a requirement. You can write fanfiction for something you don't even ship! You can write fanfiction for shows you didn't even watch!

And shipping something doesn't make you Better or Worse.

Ship shaming doesn't stop people from shipping something, it only has the potential to make them feel worse for something they, for the most part, can't control. And when the person in question is a literal teenager who also self-harms, it certainly has no potential to do anyone any good.

And it's why when the proshippers see a person like that, a person like them, they welcome them in. "You're with us now. It's your ship. Own it. Come join us." Because they have experienced the same thing and they know they would want someone to stand up for them, too. They won't let you feel as if you're alone. Because you're not and you never will be. You have a community, you just need to look for it and find it.

It's what made me realize that the antis were the bullies. Also, the antis were a bunch of teenagers too, who thought they were doing important activism by yelling at people in caps lock.

So get off your high horse. It's not that serious. Stop talking about it like it's life or death and maybe you will feel better.

It worked for me.

I literally do not care what your preference is when it comes to any kind of ship. But please do not assume that just because I don't have a horse in this race that I'd actually want to talk horses with y'all.

You're perfectly entitled to your own preferences, but I don't have an interest in debating anyone and if I happen to use a particular tag for a ship pairing, please do not assume I'm making an actual statement in regards to that pairing.

I will repeat: Just because I use a particular tag for a ship pairing doesn't mean I am making a statement regarding who I think is topping or bottoming.

Gonna be real with y'all, I find this kind of "debate" very uncomfortable in the first place as a queer person. I understand where people are coming from when they prefer a certain name order for their ship, but the emphasis on trying to dictate which character gives and who receives ... idk it makes me very uncomfortable and it brings up a lot of homophobic/transphobic related memories and discourse from my earlier stints into fandom spaces.

I'm only bringing this up because I've been noticing certain tags on my ship related posts going into the weeds of this exact topic as well as certain replies I've seen my own followers putting on other people's art.

Again, you're valid in your opinion, but I personally find it rude and unnecessary to dictate to other people (especially on someone else's art) which naming order they should use for a certain ship on their own posts.

Idk I thought I had left this kind of discourse all the way back in 2012, but here we are.

Small reminder that I go by it/it’s mainly, and she/her to the side.

A lot of my online friends see “it/she” in my bio on whatever platform and assume that I mostly use she/her, which is really annoying and it does make me upset. That’s why I put “it” in the front in the first place. A lot of my irl friends do it too and it honestly makes me feel pretty crap

The only place where people genuinely respect my pronouns is Tumblr and I have two-four online friends and my partner who use them correctly.

It/it’s on me only unless you’re genuinely confused.

•when and why did you begin to ship prongsfoot? what makes you ship it ?

i had always loved james and sirius as friends and their friendship, and just their dynamic, used to get grumpy when authors at times replaced or sidelined either of them in favour of a different character, or just made them two friends on paper and didn't give them the material. i always just looked at them with the "bestie lens"

the person who got me into prongsfoot was lovely miss– @padfootastic

intially i came across her fantastic opinions of sirius on someone else's blog and immediately thought - must follow this person she thinks on a similar brain wavelength to mine. stalked her blog and just was on a cotton candy moonland when i found her ao3 account. loved all her fics and her portrayal of james/sirius/harry to bits

(shovel talk , the whole notes app drabbles have become my comfort reads)

she's the one (well more like me stalking her blog and her wide variety of very enjoyable tags introduced me to romantic and queerplatonic prongsfoot)

also camichats on ao3 works of prongsfoot are like fresh rain on parched land, much needed and very well loved.

the why?

see, describing prongsfoot is very hard to me they just exist in their own bubble just orbiting next to each other. two peas in a pod– i could go on with epithets for them. something about the how every marauder has james as a best friend ™ but James has sirus does it to me. the almost devotional level of loyalty that these two have in each other, the extent of comfort and stability they see in each other how they are each other's home, hope and responsibility.

it's funny how they only have like five paragraphs in books (actually nvm- 5 is fine, jkr probably would have made james a figment of sirius plan's to bully Snape or something if she wrote their whole story) but almost every other dialogue sirius had he was like - james my beloved (and rip james you were dead from page 1 you couldnt get dialogues).

everytime i think about how sirius just went mad with grief after seeing james die – it fully breaks me. like there was just this one person who always used to cover for him, save him and excuse his actions who used to be the shield for sirius's rough edges and that person is gone now. for the first time since he was 11, he's unsupported. his home was killed

like it's hilarious to think about (not really) a group that was known for it's unending friendship (animagus, supporting financially) just broke like strings of marionette before even james potter body was fully cooled down. fuck he wasn't even buried when sirius was thrown in askaban (and turning 21)

in the end it's really intresting to think about a chance meeting with james on the train- pretty much changes his life path entirely– talk about a butterfly effect indeed.

Rules + Guidelines of my requests!

So these are pretty much some rules if you would like to put in a request!

I do any gender for 'x reader' fanfictions!

I also do 'what ifs' so like if something else happened in a show. Example: 'What if (insert character) was the bad guy?'

I won't be doing smut at all. Why? I'm a minor and I'm asexual so i do not feel comfortable writing about these types of topics. I will do fluff or angst tho!

I can also do fanfics for ships in the fandoms I'm in ^^

I would prefer a 13-17 gap on my page. If you are under-age or 18+ respectively DNI with my page as i am not comfortable with any adults on here.

Im saying this once and once only. I do not make exceptions with any of these rules so please respect them and you will be ignored if you send me a smut request when I specified that I don't want to at all.
