pokemon is such a large fanbase we all like the same core thing but the difference between the different niches is insane. like put a gamecanon, pokespe, vgc and anipoke fan at a table together and it would be like putting 4 long lost relatives together like i know we’re technically family but who tf are you and what language are you attempting to speak to me in lol
In competitive Pokémon lore, Amoonguss now canonically supports trans rights. We already knew Ferrothorn was homophobic so that's 2 of their opinions on LGBT rights, 1023 to go.
Something about VGC I'd like to share about the current format is that landorus incarnate is meta now. Which, may not seem noteworthy, cause we all know that landorus is the face of competitive, but I wanna reiterate, landorus incarnate. This is the form that's just some guy. To give you an idea of the usage difference, at last weekend's portland regional, landorus-I was on 23% of teams while landorus-T didn't even make the top 12.
The reason for this, as I understand it, is landorus-I's ability to deal bigger damage than landorus-T, and therefore being a better counter to the new threats of raging bolt and incineroar. Landorus-I can usually pick up one shots on them, while landorus-T fails. Speaking of incineroar, its introduction also means there's less incentive to use landorus-T for intimidate, as you now have another option that takes the form of one of the best pokemon in VGC history.
But incineroar has existed alongside landorus for a while now, and never before did its presence alone cause I to be used more than T. This all gets kinda funny to me when you consider raging bolt's place in this too. Raging bolt, while being great on its own in terms of stats and moves, is largely popular because of how well it counters tornadus and urshifu. So for the first time in well over a decade, the face of landorus in VGC has changed, and one of the key factors in that is that it's a counter to a counter.
