i think phoenix wright should wear more gold jewelry like his pendant accent works so well with his suit and it looks so stylish and the tiny hint of gold just brings it all together, so more, i say! more gold jewelry! for the sake of colour coordination!

Hi, I just finished the AA trilogy with my bf and we fell in love with it! I found your blog the other day, and it sometimes feels like you're the only one giving correct takes on these characters' writing and the minutiae of everyone's inner worlds (or the fumbling of, see Godot).
I just got here, but, something that's been bothering me about the fandom's approach to the sequel trilogy is like... the imperialist undertones are glossed over, or swept under the rug. Researching "The Dark Age of the Law" and beyond puts a sour taste in my mouth. And with Khura'in the country vs Kurain the village? It all feels racist at best (the concept of the Divination Seance gives me squick). If you have the time, I'd love to hear your thoughts about AA5 and AA6 in relation to the world of AA as a whole. Thanks again for all of your thoughtful and nuanced takes on this series!
so glad to hear you guys liked the games!! thank you for enjoying my posts, i always appreciate it.
the tl;dr of it is that i do think they are genuinely bad enough additions to the franchise that they have signed mainline ace attorney's death warrant. picking out the dark age of the law stuff and aa5 and the imperialism in aa6 you've pretty much honed right in on my two biggest critiques
however i do want to say that although they're being bundled and sold as a 'second trilogy' that's not quite accurate either experientially when playing the games or from a development perspective. aa4 had scenario design/creative direction by series creator shu takumi, with the art director being kazuya nuri (responsible for character design for rise from the ashes in the series previous to this); aa5+6 was spearheaded by takeshi yamazaki, who had been with the franchise since its first game, with the slightly less tenured takuro fuse on art direction/character design. yamazaki and fuse are not without skill, but i think they're both significantly less skilled than takumi and nuri respectively and. it really shows.
pair that with the fact that aa5 and 6 fundamentally do not follow up on any of ace attorney 4's established characters or plots more than superficially, i don't think it's particularly useful to critique 4-5-6 as if they're a single body of work in the same way the trilogy is. apollo justice isn't a perfect* ace attorney game but it's a good one.
anyway i think buying into the 'dark age of the law' stuff in ace attorney 5 necessitates cheapening all of the events preceding it. the implication that 1. the law wasn't that bad before but it Is Now and 2. a single case was the tipping point for whether or not the entire legal system would be bad just ruins the times when ace attorney has managed to acknowledge corrupt systems as a massive source of problem for the everyman in the past
i think this screenshot from the dark age of the law wiki page says a lot:
Tumblr media
For starters, that phoenix quote. He would not fucking say that. I don't think there has ever been a point during or leading up to phoenix's career where he thought the legal system had 'glory' he would then want to restore it to. you seem to get it so im not gonna harp on this too much on this but. jesus christ
then, then there's fact that even by stating the most basic details about the franchise's events undermines the whole premise. like okay notice that the corruption that happens during the trilogy/investigations spinoffs is coming from all of the actual agencies that represent law and order/the system: the prosecutors, the police, and the prosecutorial investigation committee. however in aa5 the thing they choose to paint as responsible for supposedly unprecedented levels of corruption in the legal system is defense attorneys resorting to more drastic means, and the general public; aka not the people who are responsible for upholding the legal system but the people who are victimized by it and in opposition to it.
i don't think this was an intentional choice as much as it's just sloppy, inconsiderate, and contrived writing.
aa6 is just flat out racist. 'imperalist undertones' is i would say the gentlest way you could phrase it. like. japanese characters going to a made up south asian country that needs to be taught how to govern itself to quash its internal rebellion is like. so high on the yikes meter.
making a bunch of fake 'ethnic sounding' nonsense names filled with apostrophes to make them into silly sounding english phrasing was a disastrously tone deaf thing for the localization to do. they're really unforgivable. the worst of it all is probably "Inga Karkhuul Haw'kohd Dis'nahm Bi'ahni Lawga Ormo Pohmpus Da'nit Ar'edi Iz Khura'in III" i'm unsure if the names are quite as offensive in the original japanese because i haven't looked too much into what they actually are and have a really limited knowledge of the language. but. this name in japanese is "インガ・カルクール・ククルーラ・ラルバン・ギジール・ホフダラン・マダラ・ヴィラ・ヤシマ・ジャクティエール・クライン3世" which is written in katakana. katakana is, in contrast to kanji and hiragana which are used for writing japanese, used to phoenetically transcribe foreign languages or to write loan words. so the foreign-ness of this character is being emphasized here in the original text as well.
the supposed cultural inferiority of the khurainese people is baked into the game at pretty much every level, down to the gags. khura'in has the 'plumed punisher' show, which is actively criticized by the characters in game for just being a cheap ripoff of the steel samurai. they don't even get to have their own tv.
i believe the reason the racism is pretty much glossed over a lot in the fandom is for several reasons. for starters, ace attorney fans overall tend to fall into three camps: 1. people like me who fucking hate these games, refuse to acknowledge them, and would retcon them out of existence if possible. 2. people who have found things they like about the game and have a Good Version of the characters and plots that they have constructed in their head and 3. people who view all of the hate on these games as completely overblown
the first camp Does talk about how the game is racist but we're all already in agreement about that so it's kind of preaching to the choir and a bit redundant to keep going on about. the second camp tends to acknowledge the stickier aspects of the game but focuses on making content around the elements they like rather than critique. the third camp is the type to throw the baby out with the bathwater re: critiquing a thing they like. it's all haterism to them. but either way i think its kind of fucked up how many people will be like 'aa6 isnt that bad you guys are just mean' without even acknowledging these complaints.
anyway the khura'in country vs kurain village thing is really weird to me it shows both a lack of imagination and a disregard for the series' own established lore. why would a girl from a village where almost everyone is a spirit medium need to go to a place where only, like, two people are mediums to train.
i will say though that the divination seance is kind of one of the only things i found about aa6 to be an interesting addition. for a franchise with ghost summoning and murder solving, the two have a kind of hilariously low amount of overlap so i found the idea of bringing ghost bullshit into court really fun. mechanically speaking, the divination seances also felt a LOT better to play than the mood matrix segments of aa5.
in general, i think the biggest weakness of the mainline franchise under takeshi yamazaki's stewardship is its misunderstanding of stakes. both aa5 and 6 prioritize more bombastic and impressive on paper material stakes. oh no! the ENTIRE JUSTICE SYSTEM BEING GOOD OR BAD depends on this one case! on no! we have to DEAL WITH REBEL INSURGENTS! complete horseshit when there is not competent and functional enough character writing to get us emotionally invested here. yamazaki seems to think bigger is better, and that just simply isnt true for something like ace attorney
i've pointed this out in the past when critiquing aa5 and 6 but if you look at the actual material stakes on the line in ace attorney, they're at their highest after rise from the ashes. ousting the corrupt chief of police is the most impressive and impactful thing phoenix does with his career (arguably until the jurist system, but definitely in the trilogy.) but that's not the big Finale case for his character arc. his finale case is defending his college girlfriend; a nun who lives in the mountains, whose conviction would have had zero implications on the larger fabric of ace attorney's legal system. because takumi's writing clearly shows that he understands what makes a plot impactful is the emotional stakes the characters have invested in the events.
before taking over the main franchise, takeshi yamazaki was responsible for the miles edgeworth investigations spinoffs. i do enjoy both of those games - aai2 in particular is really strong. yamazaki does a great job with edgeworth's character arc even if i have some specific gripes with the duologys writing. i think theyre solid additions to the franchise. but you can see traces of this sort of misalignment in narrative priorities here as well. for example, the last case in aai1 is notorious for still going on for, like, an entire hour or two past the time when the last remaining plot point we care about has been revealed. because yamazaki seemingly had no understanding that That was the thing the case should have been about, and that should have been the final mic drop of the game. it just keeps going! he didn't know the game was done and he added a bunch more bullshit busywork after it that no one likes!
so yeah. without going into anything even as specific as how individual plotlines or character arcs were mishandled in aa5/6 that's really my overview What Went Wrong of those games.

I'm becoming slowly open to being a hater of AA5. In that I want to know where the bad stuff starts. Because I actually liked the first case a lot.
Like it's fucking goofy but thats AA baby. The characterisation seems good. Athenas a ton a fun. Phoenix is trying to be the adult desperately but is being vicariously a little shit through Athena while also showing he's incredibly caring and protective for these kids he's acquired, Apollo doing the heroic thing in protecting juniper but being so much of a workoholic he reopens his fucking wounds in the process is in character. The case makes sense especially for a turtoiral where the complexity has to be limited. I like the mood matrix mechanic. The cut scenes are fine. The judge is himself and got a few laughs from me. I was genuinely shocked and worried when Apollo was attacked. Juniper is sweet, Ted isn't the best murderer ever but the tutorial case ones never are (with 2 glaring exceptions where they cheat by having them be the main villain) and the ending hook was interesting as was Athena's PTSD. Like this is around as good if not better than 1-1 and 2-1 imho. Their villians are kinda bland and ted was goofy enough to be fun. I don't like the 3d look but it's tolerable if you meet it where it's at. Like it's good I'm kinda confused where the issue is.
5-2 is feeling weird. I'm glad to see Trucy but she does seem more bland and the 3d design did her very dirty but I'm only at the very beginning.
From what I've heard of from later on Apollo kind of gets too many unpreivously referenced stuff. Which ok but I'm going to be honest that feels like it's maybe more an AA4 issue? Don't get me wrong I loved that game and I love Apollo as a character but there's very little to work with after it. There's the sibling twist which does need addressing (I'm aware they don't) and his mentorship with Kristoph but, I'd Apollo always felt like the one who Kristoph had the least bad infulence on. Like Klavier is a very explicit victim of emotional abuse and Trucy and Phoenix's lives were destroyed by the guy. Apollo while still negatively impacted felt like the one who could get over it the easiest. Then there's his rocky relationship with Phoenix which, like the ending of AA4 kind of implies he started to understand that especially with how he talks about him in court. Does it happen off screen? Yes. The lack of wanting to repeat information after the mason section (objectively a great section) means we never really get his reaction to learning that Phoenix didn't forge evidence and that he didn't give up on the law and was just biding his time. We don't see it but from how he talks during the final trial day it's pretty clear his opinion of him increases a lot when he realised what Phoenix was actually doing and actually going through. I'm actually going to make a post about how I'd fix that tbh. But yeah. I just feel like this game had to build on something with very little left to build on.

Super sexy aa7 ideas that will never happen
*puts on my clown shoes
Themes: “the worst times are when lawyers have to smile their brightest, but you can’t be a lawyer 24/7” “sometimes (esp now) the system is WRONG”
CASE 1
Klavier Gavin prosecutes, because society has progressed beyond needing Paynes
And if the widespread complaint is that he’s too nice, this position is perfect
Make a witty remark abt feeling demoted >:(
Athena and Trucy dream team girls
Murder took place at a theater/has something to do with acoustics, to ~fit the characters~
Maybe Lamiroir was there 👀
Phoenix is once again a witness, but hes less infuriating. But still fucking funny infuriating
He mentions his college degree, vaguely. Pressing him reveals nothing.
Also address that TRUCY AND KLAVIER PROBABLY HAVE SOME TRAUMA FROM MURDERS AT THEIR PERFORMANCES
Defend a rando
The twist: the murder only could’ve been committed by someone with superhuman hearing, so Athena’s senses are vital here!!
End: the culprit tries to psychologically fuck with everyone, but Athena stays strong, maybe uses some noise cancelling headphones, and corners the SHIT out of them
Also, there’s a new judge. A higher judge than your normal judge, who is a boomer. BOOMER JUDGE
Post-trial: a comment about all them missing Apollo…
CASE 2
Athena vs Franziska von Karma
Athena calls her out on the whipping if that’s still a thing
[Maybe Trucy is there again for extra spice,,,] but Solo Thena would be EPIC
NEW FRANZISKA DESIGN
Maybe we can bring Maya back here, but NOT ACCUSE HER FOR MURDER
Or accuse her at the scene but quickly disprove it
Idk also address her trauma
Wow this is turning into ATHENA CYKES- ACE THERAPIST
Put Simon there too because he’s hilarious
Maybe him and Maya are casually attending Comic-Con for the Steel Samurai panel
Defendant: some toxic celebrity with DRAMA
the twist: the murderer was targeting several high-profile ppl, but only killed like. A janitor instead. They aren’t found OR arrested, but you get a not guilty by… indicting their accomplice. And it HURTS but you have to or its your not-guilty kinda-a-dick client that gets guilty
New judge plays by the written rules, so u can’t ague ur case
Franziska is skeptical of the Accomplice’s guilt, but she lets the verdict go because your client is innocent.
Athena cries to Phoenix about how she feels like she fricked up b/c she empathizes with the accomplice but also everyone, Phoenix does his best dad comfort—this is the truth that’s allowed in the confines of their court system.
CASE 3
NARUMITSU DATE
Open with a call from Maya. She loudly thanks the god/the holy mother for this
MURDER!!! AT THE VENUE
Kay and Sebastian are there
GUMSHOEEEEE (OLDER SPRITE??? Higher salary?? Maggey too?)
Classic Wright vs Edgeworth
All the options are flirty
Everything is an innuendo
Trucy co-council is embarrassed by ur Old Man Flirting (NEW SPRITES)
Lampshade conflict of interest what with dating opposing council. Gloss over it completely
Phoenix’s college degree is vaguely mentioned to be helping him. This is Not elaborated on
The murder is some crazy shit that basically parodies the whole series
TWO SETS OF EVIL TWINS
3 cross poisonings and with INTERESTING results of chemicals mixing (Ema: 👀)
All the dying messages were faked
Handedness contradiction.
Some gross old guy appears, but you can punch him
The murder weapon goes from bloody knife with defendants fingerprints on it to glass shards of a broken bottle to an icicle to an overly spikey piece of hair
EXTRATERRITORIAL RIGHTS
For extra funnies: BOOMER JUDGE IS NOT USED TO THIS. They are the straight person of this comedy clown case.
For extra feels (the twist): Phoenix actually has an emotional breakdown on one of the investigation days. Maybe Trucy gets put at risk again, or something with poisoning, or even something with Kay or Seb (to show how much Phoenix cares, in general) and we address all the shit that he’s gone thru
Awkward comforting by miles
HUG SPRITE/ART
CASE 4
(shoves Klavier into Khura’in) GO FAKEGERMANBOY GO
Play as Apollo (khura’inese clothes sprites)
KLAVIER CO-COUNCIL (CASUAL SPRITES?? Put his hair up in a bun capcom im begging)
ADRESS AA4
Maybe at the end of one investigation, theres just. A heartfelt talk.
Ok ill make it heavy (b/c if its lighthearted these fuckos will never talk about their feelings)
LAMIROIR IS HERE TOO??
TRUCY ALSO- im sorry truce im shoving you everywhere because I want you to develop
maybe she and Klavier are like, performer bros
Apollo is happy that Trucy is but also feels alienated, like AA6 totally pulled him from his AA4 roots [COUGH]
CASUAL TRUCY SPRITE??? I would cry capcom
Nahyuta, Rayfa, and Apollo being awkward but trying (and mostly succeeding) siblings, Amara being a scary but p good queen momther
FRANZISKA INTERNATIONAL PROSECUTING??? Idk it’d be epic tho
She roasts Klavier so bad
Though he is very smart so she just roasts his terrible German
Resolve the Gramarye siblings here?
Include something with gender dysphoria to contrast how they butchered Robin Newman???
This is huge headcanon territory here tho
The Twist: realizing that this case cannot POSSIBLY be resolved in 3 fucking days. Also that Apollo is so backlogged that hes stressed and he probably needs help
Also someone tries to frame Klavier with his Gavinners-brand shoeprints
End: answer yes/no to Klavier working at Justice Law Offices. The choice affects his dialogue with Apollo in 7-5
CASE 5
Some fuckin. International level scandal
Elaborate on whatever the fuck “the phantom” was spying for? btw is the same that the culprits froms 7-2 and 7-4. maaybe 7-1?
And it involves MORE AUDITORIUMS
Open w/ calling Trucy, whos in the states. She mentions that Klavier casually got a Japanifornian defense attorney badge. Cue exasperation/fondness/incredulity (I promise this is relevant)
In Khura’in
Starts small- like a robbery, which leads to an attempt on Thalassa’s life. Again
Athena gets to therapy her
Then someone high-profile actually fucking dies
Athena (co-council Apollo) vs FINAL BOSS FRANZISKA
Lots of investigating with them
Talk about space center and grief
The twist: a person with low emotional output is framed, but they are innocent because LOWER EMOTIONAL REACTIONS DOESN’T MAKE YOU FUCKING EVIL
The other twist: Bring in 7-2 framed person for a character witness, show that they’re innocent. Athena is panicking because of Fear(?) so Apollo is determined to Do Something, and points out how this only happened because the system is Stupid and calls Klavier and Trucy
BECAUSE:
At the same time, there’s a stateside investigation. some botched, continued interreference at the Space Station
Klavier can pull an Edgeworth and investigate with Trucy
With parently narumitsu
Klavier talks about Apollo a lot, Trucy calls him out on it
Nahyuta is prosecuting this case
Depending on the relations between Klavier and Nahyuta established in 7-4, this will be hilarious or disastrous
Protective Yuty route: makes scathing comments about petty parts of Klavier- a petty-off
Teasing Yuty route: brings it up whenever Klavier talks about Apollo. Rlly funny banter. Klavier showing more human emotions sprites!!
Revisit the Space Center and get emo. Simon is here, arguing with Nahyuta
Because the cases go to trial simultaneously, the comment about the wrong conviction in 7-2 can be brought to the Japanifornian courts by Klavier and Trucy
They argue that Athena was forced to do that to spare an innocent and press HARD for legal reform
They call in Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth for reforms??
They also start a twitter war (that can be investigation minigame) and get public opinion up abt it
Yuty vouches for change, w/ khura’in as evidence
SO AA4 CAN GET KINDA RESOLVED!!
DUNK ON BOOMER JUDGE
BONUS: CASE 6: TURNABOUT CHILLOUT
Phoenix vs Franziska
Larry time
Scruffy time
Idk man. No more international stuff, just good old fashioned cleaning up ur shitty dad’s messes amiright
Resolve things with the Shelly card?
oldbag cameo but you file a restraining order
help trucy and pearls with college
TLDR: Athena actually tracks an international conspiracy that has weight, the AJ gang once again changes the system, Phoenix gets emotional resolution, Franziska helps international stuff AND gets emotional resolution, and i finally stop trying to throw hands with capcom.

Ughhh so I’ve been debating posting this because: a) I don’t want to be *that* fan b) I don’t want to impose on how ppl interact/interpret fandom c) at the end of the day it’s just fiction so it doesn’t matter
But it’s eating at me and uhhhhhhgghhh I have to say something. Please don’t come for me, this is not me calling anyone out- you are all valid, this is me being an old lady yelling at cloud. Ignore me, ignore me if you don’t agree with me and seriously go on with your lives.
So to start out, I have friends in the video game industry in licensing and merchandising for a few AAA studios-specifically in the creation of the guidebooks/official art books/lore compendiums etc.
These books are created off of information from the game’s artists, writers and narrative producers.
And the general rule of thumb is: unless noted otherwise- character traits such as height, weight, etc. do not account for clothing, accessories, hairstyles, etc.
If a character has augmentations which may effect a stat and it’s vital to the character or story at large-it’s listed.
A good example of this is Peridot from SU. There are character sheets that list her height in relation to her environment with and without her leg extenders. We have two stats for her height.
This for the most part, is pretty standard across the board in the video game/animation industry because they want people(artists and designers in particular) to understand a character’s scale in relation to their environment. Help cosplayers understand how an outfit/character’s form works (not that they *need* to 100% accurately represent a character to cosplay as that character), and because they know their fellow nerds live and breath to know this information.
Soooo this is my long winded explanation to say that Apollo is most likely not 5ft tall and running around with two almost half-foot spikes on his hairline.
I feel if this was the case, AA is silly enough to state that fact. And yes, while this is the world in which Daryan can have a 3ft pompadour, the main attorneys’ designs are less gonzo compared to the clients and witnesses. So it’s unlikely based on what I’ve been told by my friends, that Apollo’s design, which is meant to have appeal while being distinct to AA’s style, would have his hairstyle effect his official stats. The horns are an element to Apollo’s overall design- the Art of Ace Attorney says they’re symbols of him as a “young sprout” in the legal world.
They’re visual elements on the same level as his red suit. You wouldn’t assume Apollo’s listed weight includes him wearing clothes (maybe if he was wearing armor, but then his weight with and without armor would prolly be listed)- so when a stat is listed, that character most likely is that stat regardless of how they styled their hair that day.
And if we follow the logic of what people are sharing about Apollo’s height then we have to ask ourselves things like- “is Trucy really her official stated height or is that including the top hat? Maybe she’s 5 inches shorter” “Is Klavier really 6ft? He is wearing motorcycle boots so that could be giving him some height so maybe he’s actually 5ft 8in”.
And if you believe that, fine. You do you. It doesn’t matter, I stg, I may delete this once I’m done writing this. But I just wanted to share what I know from “the inside”.
And considering that the Japanese studios go into more depth on character details due to fandom, cosplay, virtual idols,doujin/fanworks being a huge industries in parts of Asia- if Apollo was actually 5ft with two 5in horns in his head- that is a detail that would have been noted allllll the way back in the AA4 guide, and there would have been even more meta jokes -official and unofficial- about him being a smol fierce loud lawyer man.
Sooo yes, he’s still a small birb when compared to Phoenix, Miles, Klavier, and Simon, but he’s more than likely not *that* short.
And honestly, if you love 5ft Apollo, I love and support you and wish you nothing but the best in your pursuits of fandom happiness.
I think the idea of 5ft Apollo, who has to climb Klavier like a tree, is cute. But also I’ve had in my brain for the last 13 years that Apollo is 165cm/5ft 5in-ish (okay he’s like 5ft 4.961 inches, I’m rounding up- I’m not his doctor) so it’s what I’m defaulting to when I write.
I guess if anyone wants to ask the artists/creators the next time there is a con or an interview, if Apollo’s spikes are included in his height-please do. I would love to know XD. And if I’m wrong please let me know, but rn I’m going off of the Art of Ace Attorney and the Dual Destinies art book.
But yeah, just needed to write my feelings out- I’m sorry I stg I never do this; please carry on with your lives and leave me to scream at my cloud.

OKAY NO I WAS LYING IM POSTING THIS ONE TOO. here we go, all my dumb ideas for a DD remake bc FUCK it could have been one of the best games in the series but they fucked up so badly
the jurist system IS implemented because oh my god why would you delete the whole thing that they made us believe was all phoenix was working on during his disbarrment?
dark age of the law my ass. all together stop saying that every 5 minutes. acknowledging the legal system has been fucked up since ages and them trying to fix it slowly, with their first step being the jurist system
not...treating the whole phantom thing as if it was the main plot of game? id personally make turnabout tomorrow a case like rise from the ashes, important, heavily filled with lore, but not the main plot of the game. its own thing, just like rfta! or well maybe more like like turnabout goodbyes but lengthier n w more lore like rfta
the bombing thing was stupid and im deleting all the cases related to that
since id make AA5 focusing in the reform of the system, a work between both parties ( defense n prosecution, both inside and outside the court ) simon is NOT the prosecutor for the game. yep, hes not guilty, but hes still a convict an letting him prosecute people would be going against the whole we're destroying corruption thing? prove hes innocent and then he can kick defense attorneys asses
oh definitely bring kay. be it as the detective or whatever but! shes the yatagarasu! the one who exposes corruption! the whole theme of the game screams for kay to be there
let phoenix get back to court but like? normally? not making him have a radical switch from AA4 to AA5? i wouldnt have phoenix as a lawyer for the whole game, maybe 4 the last case only! and for the previous cases we get a mid AA4-AA5 model for him! id go for something like. casual but still not quite "hoodie, sweatpants and fucking sandals" maybe the hoodie but open w a button up under! and some pants or jeans wait when did i start talking about clothes. ACTUALLY NEVERMIND CLOTHES ARE IMPORTANT! the designs of the character can tell us a lot so yes i do think we should have gotten a pre lawyer again phoenix model! id leave the beanie but slightly backwards, showing more spikes n with that lil hair he got going on nowadays
talking abt designs. edgeworth would have his prosecutors badge on his lapel it makes no sense he DOESNT...the neckwear can stay i guess but it should be gone too...to show the complete desvonkarmatization yknow.
also edgeworth appears in the game! a lot! its not a surprise factor or whatever. hes the prosecutor only for the athena v state case! but yeah he appears quite often in pre-"wow we got a client moments"
id have liked it to have klav and sebastian as prosecutors actually for like. all the other cases. HEAVY gavin lore, more development for klav! also he should have been the prosecutor for courtes murder....capcom i hate u...and also seb is there bc. why not. i love him plus themis appears in this game so!
maybe seb 4 one case and klav for the rest! why keep adding new characters when already have a lot of amazing ones we dont need a new prosecutor eAAACH game...
its Athena's Game, she's the lead for most cases! also i know athenas thing is psychology but. i wouldnt use it for trials until like. turnabout tomorrow. why? as the system is being reformed slowly i think it should have been tested out like the MASON system! a hint for AA6 like the MASON system was a hint for AA5 :)! also phoenixs magatama was always investigation only so id do the same for the mood matrix!
trucy never stopped being a main character. fuck u capcom. shes athenas assistant for a couple cases! and even when shes not assisting like directly as a legal aid, i think shed appear every break to help and give her input!
can we get the super crowded bench for most cases. i think that would be epic.
also we get phoenix genuinely worried abt trucy during turnabout for tomorrow bc fuck that
clays there BUT HES ALIVE bc apollo deserves it, maybe make him a defendant idk lol but hes neat

Ema Skye and Sebastian Debeste?
Ema!
First impression: (context: I read several aa fics before I actually started in on the games and only looked up appearances of some of the characters) Oh that’s what she looks like; that was not what I was picturing but cool. Took me a min to get used to her instead of Maya as the assistant.Impression now: Fucking superb you grumpy science lesbianFavorite moment: “Why can’t we have a normal, straightforward killing once in a while in this country!?” BIGGEST MOOD. Also the bit in rfta where she’s like “Hey everyone! Keep up the good work!” at the investigation team while Phoenix is trying to be inconspicuous. That was a really cute moment.Idea for a story: I don’t know if there’s anything specific for her that I’d want to write, but you know what would be cool? Her and Franziska (+ whoever else you want to add in) getting into investigation shenanigans while she’s studying in Europe before aa4.Unpopular opinion: I have. No clue if I have anything that’s unpopular so have a random one: her aai outfit is the best one!Favorite relationship: Her and Lana! I’m a big sucker for interesting family dynamics and getting to see Lana finally smile at the end of rfta and their reconciling was so touchingFavorite headcanon: I just thought of this but the idea of her as a small child doing little murder mystery stories and crime scenes with all of her toys is super adorable.
Sebastian!!
First impression: Oh no he is kind of annoying but also I already vaguely know he has shitty family I can’t hate him. Literally spent the first two cases affectionately going “oh honey. Ohh sweetheart. Oh no. My sweet precious summer child.” every time he opened his mouthImpression now: MY SON BOY! I’M SO PROUD OF HIM FOR HOW MUCH HE GREW BY THE END OF THE GAME! He’s in my top favorite aa characters for sure.Favorite moment: Honestly the entirety of him confronting his father in the courtroom ohhh that got me good. Also his logic chess sequence!! OOF but also right now that’s probably my favorite single gameplay segment out of the series it was so well-done. Idea for a story: I mean I’ve only got about three dozen. ….I’m currently trying to do something with the idea of him and Klavier bonding and eventually falling into a relationship over the course of them doing music collaboration stuff over the seven-year-gap.Unpopular opinion: So I have Very Specific Opinions on post-aai2 outfit stuff with him, which is basically that I think soon after the game he’d try to imitate Edgeworth’s style, but after that it’d be much more his own thing. (which idk if that’s unpopular, just that I’ve noticed a lot of outfit designs for him are very close to his canon outfit/take a lot from Edgeworth’s. Which is fine, any attention being given to my boy makes me happy, but it’s not my personal preference.)Favorite relationship: I think about him & Kay being unstoppable chaos bffs at least five times a day.Favorite headcanon: As long as it’s someone he trusts, he is the absolute most physically affectionate person
