dramaturgy; celebrity manhunt, pre-london -- im going to make it easy on myself and skim through pre-london first, as the most divergence in this AU happens during and after the fact. part of pre-london is the pre-season itself, the celebrity manhunt special.
so action comes and goes, noah gets out of the season and remains as chris’ PA for the year break. in that time, months before it actually happens, chris finds out about the new season (with producer word both pushing for ‘more drama/engagement’ or smth along those lines, and *noahs actual involvement this time).
while something something contracts might prevent him from just outright telling noah, i’d imagine that he’d all but say there’s going to be a new season and heavily imply that noah wont be able to get out of it this time. not only that but he also implies that maybe noah should give opening up to people on the show a chance,, cause, yk, hes about to be stuck on a jet with them,, for weeks,,
of course, noah is pissed at first. but in so many weeks or whatever he begrudgingly accepts it and just resolves to throw it like usual. as for the ‘opening up to people’, he lands on owen.
owen was nice enough, genuine to a fault and the person least likely to use any of noahs bare slivers of vulnerability against him. hes safe.
[*noahs involvement within the show as something that the viewers are very interested in. he could be ratings gold and they know it.]
now im a little bit torn over the whole ‘chris’ assistant’ bit; similar to the awakeathon i would imagine it might just be missing entirely and he would be fired before the fact. or it could happen, as a way to give his on-screen character some information. as a ‘look everyone, i have Depth. stop prying into my life please’
either way, whatever. *total drama dirtbags show up, chris locks them out of the venue, they dont win any awards, bus chase etc.
^ note here, per usual noah comes off as his usual uncanny self around the cast. sierra is there as well, im sure thats Something for her. however he does take notice of one (1) alejandro burromuerto, recognizing him and focusing on him. < this comes back during introductions, where he notes his behavior towards the cast.
[*total drama dirtbags existed as the original ‘new TD season’ that noah found out about and worked on for a little bit before he finds out that it was not in fact a real show and a coverup for something else (a grab for an extra contestant for WT) < hence, he knows josé from interviews/auditions he helped with, but doesn’t know alejandro since he decided one brother was Enough]
^ and just for extra clarity on the TDD thing bc ive kind of muddled it, say noah finds out about dirtbags, helps out whatever. and then the news breaks that its a fake phish for a new contestant for an actual show — fine enough, he’s already behind the cameras, so he can just stay there, right?
no, actually. its kinda just slung at him that he has to be part of the cast (smth smth his job is threatened under ‘contractual obligation’ like its not wildly unconscionable). and he is soooo pissed off, so incredibly angry at the circumstances he’s landed himself in somehow.
< but he is aware that he cant just bottle everything up because it will spill over; chris said he needs something to his character, so maybe he can funnel his anger into playing the game a little more. as the most outlet he’ll get before he can throw it and just be done with the show entirely.
^ and then,,, alejandro.
while the actual events of pre-london remain largely unchanged, his dynamics are changed with the presence of four different variables: alejandro, izzy, owen, and sierra.
alejandro i’ll get into more later with a longer post detailing what they think of each other mutually, but im gna touch on alejandro a little; with picking off team victory and believing heather is the only person who’s noticed his facade, he just,, doesnt really distinguish noah as a threat worthy of focusing on.
^ throughout the game and the events of, he does single noah out as the most tolerable of all his teammates but doesnt offer much intrigue beyond that until *new york. (to note, he’s a lot more comfortable with [oblivious to??] noahs detachedness than the rest of the cast since that empty demeanor is p common among whatever diplomatic events hes been a part of)
izzy is someone who’s character i established mostly in the long post i had about her?? but it is worth mentioning now though that she does stick very close by to noah throughout her time on the show, and routinely interacts with him where most of the cast had given up trying altogether.
^ it builds,, a kind of rapport between her and noah?? in some way after the fact he’d recognize it as a nice, ‘i-want-to-know-more-about-you-and-also-befriend-you’ thing, but during he reacts more like a yowling cat tbh. he’s built up this reputation and facade that make people stay away from him, and now izzy wants to stick around him and threaten his defense mechanism? no thanks. (< further reasoning for why he belays insults towards her during WT under the guise of his own facade)
owen is a special case — in the bus chase before the season, noah took the time to sit by him and build up the proper beginnings of a friendship, which owen is thrilled about < during his time on island, owen was really fond of noahs quips and ‘just wished he would open up a bit more!!’,, he thinks some friends would b good for him and hes right
^ and again, owen is noahs safest option to 'endear' himself to the audience with a friend. hes so genuine and understanding of where noahs projected character falls flat, and like izzy keeps interacting and wants to interact with him where the rest of the cast gave up (and noah the person becomes very fond of owen and the reprieve their friendship offers him very quickly)
and finally,,, sierra. i actually want to talk more about the Audience as an entity in this AU in a later post and sierra ties into that heavily. as established, noah is the one cast member she just doesn't know anything about. of each blog she runs dedicated to each member of the show, his is the emptiest; the most baseless. being in proximity with the man of mystery is exciting!
^ noah still comes off as very uncanny valley to sierra and his detachedness is immediately clear. but the key difference to her and and cast is that she has the Audience perspective --- he's intriguing moreso than offputting. (and also theres definitely Something there about the meta-analysis of panopticon as an in-universe topic and how sierra would relate/connect that once it becomes clear to the cast why noah acts as he does)
[*new york (same time space as the aftermath?) as the moment when sierra prattles off information about the cast but comes up with nothing on noah that his own interest is piqued just a liitle bit, and he starts building a proper relationship up with noah as the straightmen to the cast. < also come after london is something he looks back on as a Hmm. moment wondering what noah knows about himself.
^ alejandro does believe their rapport is one-sided bc of his own facade, which i want to mention simply bc he's wrong. it is no-sided. both of them r faking.]
now getting to the episodes themselves -- minor changes/additions:
in the yukon, he doesn't try to cuddle bridgette
^ also in the yukon, he shivers less visibly than the cast (think when in cold weather you get those microtremors that really fucking hurt after a few seconds). this is only because it feeds into the android joke-turned-conspiracy for the folks watching on the aftermath set
in new york, he was not actually asleep in the carriage nor did he explicitly pretend to be. he just Kept Quiet when heather did her thing
in germany, he doesn't go up to alejandro when he falls off the platform, but he does prompt owen to ask something along a similar line [to his canon ones]
in the amazon, he's the one to point out owens absence
in paris, the line of 'this totally works on my dog' he changes to smth like 'totally works on dogs',, for his own exercise of privacy really
in the space of the jamaica aftermath, he again disappears from the rest of the cast à la playa des losers save for owen. owen gets a hello during mealtimes and hes the only one.
and finally, the episodes of 'significant' development with noahs intrigue in alejandro:
beginning before any real events of the show during introductions
^ kicked off in germany similarly to canon, emphasized by newfoundland and the grab for DJ's alliance
and cemented completely [his interest in unmasking him] in jamaica, continuing onward with london around when he discovers that alejandro is acting skittery towards him because of his own suspicions

I know that the TDD don't have the same holidays as in Inisfáil, but do they have other ones?
They do! Each region tends to have its own celebrations that are meaningful to them. Each court also has a significant event that takes place. The Unseelie Court, as mentioned, has the Wild Hunt, though it's a bit of a grim holiday. Congrats, you have the day off! Now hide.
The Seelie Court has the Tailteann Games, an ancient athletic competition, and a religious festival (no association with the modern school competition). It is similar to the Greek Olympics, but they also use this time to declare laws, honour the dead, and give honours to anyone who may have recently earned them. It's also the time of year when the cream of the crop - both physically and socially - likes to really show off. Many citizens come from Finias just to gaze at the people strutting around like peacocks. Fun fact: The Games were first established by none other than Lugh himself!

The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) is now out on Steam and Itch.io, and has a Kickstarter pre-launch page! Check our pinned post for details!

Nothing felt worse than having to relearn how to hug Yamada Ichiro.
And Samatoki said that as someone who knew what it felt like to be shot.
Even though Ichiro had been scrawnier back in their TDD days, like a still-growing puppy in its awkward, gangly phase, he'd always given the best hugs. He threw his whole body into it whenever he hugged Samatoki, as though he thought each one might be the last he ever got to give.
Samatoki missed those hugs.
They didn't come back like magic, just because he and Ichiro kinda-sorta made up.
Maybe Ichiro still couldn't fully let his guard down around Samatoki; that was fair. And maybe Samatoki couldn't set aside enough of his pride to just pull Ichiro into his arms.
When they first started to see more of each other again, they were all awkward nods and little to no eye contact. They still bickered and bantered sometimes, more out of habit than anything.
They got to handshakes, eventually. And some time after that, those handshakes evolved into quick, one-armed pseudo-hugs that never lasted more than a split second. Ichiro would always let go and pull away in a hurry, like he'd been burned.
"What exactly are you waiting for?" Jyuto asked, when Samatoki absently let it slip—just how much he missed Ichiro's hugs—while they were out for drinks one night. "Do you intend to wait until one of you is shot and bleeding out, to take him into your arms one last time?"
Samatoki pulled a face at the scathingly scornful look Jyuto was giving him over the top of his glasses. Rio leaned forward a little, looking like he might intervene at any moment.
Maybe Jyuto had a point, though. Even if he was being a bit of a bitch about it.
What was Samatoki waiting for?
When he climbed into a cab that night, excusing himself early after just two drinks, he gave the driver an address that wasn't his own. He didn't plan anything, didn't think anything through. It wasn't until he was standing in front of Ichiro's door, one hand raised to knock, that he realized he didn't have the first clue what he was doing.
The door swung open before he could figure it out.
Ichiro blinked when he found Samatoki standing there. He had a bag of trash in one hand, and he was wearing sandals, basketball shorts, and an old t-shirt with a smattering of holes near the hem. It wasn't like he was all dressed up, but the sight of him made Samatoki's chest ache with want.
So he hugged him.
Samatoki stepped past the threshold, wrapped his arms around Ichiro, and hugged him tight. He didn't care that he could faintly smell the food waste in the bag of trash Ichiro had been about to take out. He didn't care that Ichiro seemed a little hesitant to lift an arm to hug him back.
"Samatoki…?" It took a moment, but Ichiro did eventually settle a hand more firmly at the small of Samatoki's back. "What are you doing here? Did something happen?"
"No, nothing. It's just—" Samatoki broke off with a laugh, which clearly surprised them both. Ichiro must have thought he was losing his mind, and Samatoki couldn't blame him. He felt a bit nuts, with the way he had his face pressed to Ichiro's shoulder, smiling despite himself. "I just missed this. I've been missing this. So bad."
Ichiro moved, but only to set down the trash bag he was holding. He didn't step back or try to pull away, and even though he still seemed a little tentative and unsure, he did let his other hand come up to join the first on Samatoki's back.
"This?" he prompted.
"You," Samatoki whispered. "You and your hugs. Do you know, Ichi, that you always gave the best hugs? Do you know that I've lay awake at night, more times than I can count, wondering if you'd still feel the same tucked under my arms?"
A sharp intake of breath sounded near Samatoki's ear. Ichiro was still for a moment longer before he hugged Samatoki back, really hugged him, tight enough to squeeze just about all the air out of his lungs. He hugged Samatoki with such urgency that Samatoki knew, right away, he'd never been alone in missing this.
Ichiro must have had his own reasons, for having held back all this time. But the relief he felt, knowing he didn't have to hold back anymore, was palpable everywhere they touched.
That was how Ichiro's brothers would find them later, when they got back from a grocery run.
Standing in the doorway, with a bag of trash by their feet, holding each other like they might never let go again.

Hypmic Party Concept: Post 2nd DRB 💞
After their reconciliation, Jakurai and Ramuda plan to spend a weekend together just for themselves. Ramuda is reluctant at the offer at first but he gradually accepts when Jakurai says he wants to cook for him (to which, he awkwardly uses Ramuda’s poor health and “You eat only sweets!” as an excuse— not that Jakurai ever needs an excuse to meet up with Ramuda at that point). Although Ramuda would normally prefer the party type of date, he has somehow grown tired of all the canon-typical drama, anxiety and health issues he went through so he agrees to just have dinner at Jakurai’s ridiculously big house (mostly because he misses him and wonders if they can be like the old times).
Except, Hifumi and Doppo has no idea about the fact that their usually lonely bird Sensei actually has a boy— Ramuda Amemura— over, so Hifumi decides to surprise Jakurai by bringing a bunch of indrigents to cook! He is sure sensei would be alone and sulking, so he doesn’t hesitate to grab Doppo and come along— except, it is Ramuda who opens the door,. Doppo cannot process the fact that he is standing in front of Ramuda Amemura and apologizes and shuts the door thinking he came to the wrong house. Jakurai overhears and checks the door only for a very awkward (but pleasant) Matenro/JakuRamu encounter and JakuRamu’s reveal of relationship.
Ramuda then tries to play it off as they are Not Dating and he is here for Stuff, but the brilliant host Hifumi Izanami immediately Gets It, and tries to laugh it off and leave saying he shall not ✨disturb✨ (wink wink) Sensei’s private time. At that point Jakurai is also very awkward so he says he and Ramuda were “not doing much in particular” so it is okay that they can join. Ramuda, who also panics, immediately agrees that they should join and this all big thing was actually supposed to be a big SURPRISE PARTY!!! He was just about to call Gentaro and Dice too!!! A-and of course Samatoki and Ichiro! Y-You see, Ramuda planned this big party post second division rap battle and throw away the championship money by the food (there definitely is not that much food at Jakurai’s house) and Hifumi and Doppo just caught them pre-surprise! Haha!
On a logical level, Jakurai and Ramuda don’t need to pretend they were not intending to have a date. But none of them could properly talk to their teammates about how “Oh I actually pretended to hate this guy but I am so irreturnably and hopelessly in love with him”, and they seem not to be quite ready for that, so they both play a big lie where everyone is quite aware of the nature of their relationship but not saying a word because they don’t want to embarass JakuRamu.
Anyway, Hifudo agrees to stay then, much to not embarass Sensei further. Ramuda, playing along with his plan, calls Gentaro and Dice. Dice comes because there is free food! Gentaro comes when he learns it’s Jakurai Jinguji’s household— he is a TDD fan, after all, he’s not missing it. Ichiro brings his bros along because it’s a party! Samatoki brings Jyuto and Rio too because why not? It is a party! Rio and Hifumi bond over cooking, TDD gathers again, Saburo plays with his phone on the corner because he is bored (that OR he is checking Jakurai’s medicine-related books and actually being impressed by his library!), Jiro is rolling the barbeque, and overall everyone is having a great time, then at some point JakuRamu find themselves alone in the kitchen while they watch the crowd on the backyard. Ramuda is still a bit tense because he casually threw up a big lie and called so many people over Jakurai’s place without ever explicitly asking for his permission— completely spontaneously too. Jakurai notices that Ramuda’s mood is off, so he asks him if something is wrong. Ramuda avoids eye contact and focuses on the plates he is preparing.
He asks, “Things will not go back to be the same… right?” and Jakurai is surprised for a moment that instead of enjoying the party, Ramuda is thinking about deep sad things. It once again reminds Jakurai just how fascinating Ramuda is. They both watch their friends— teammates— people they met through the rap (Hifudo is probably making a mess and laughing really loud on a corner). Jakurai smiles it off and pats Ramuda’s head. “Perhaps not,” Jakurai says and Ramuda flinches. Jakurai says, “It can’t go back to be the same. But, I am still looking forward to the future we build.” Ramuda gives Jakurai The Emotional Teary Eyed Look that he gave him a few times in canon and he feels like he is about to cry but at that moment Dice abrubtly enters the kitchen for food, absolutely clueless about the romantic moment he just interrupted. He asks Ramuda where the popcorn is— then why Ramuda looks so freaking sad. JakuRamu blushes awkwardly and then Ramuda laughs it off and speaks in his bubbly voice while giving Dice a bowl of popcorn. Dice asks if they are not coming back. Ramuda spares a quick look at Jakurai and then, with a spontaneous decision, holds Jakurai’s hand and pulls him to backyard, where all of their friends are. He says Jakurai is right. The end.

MediaTek Dimensity 6300: 108MP Cameras & 50% Faster GPU
Tumblr media
MediaTek Dimensity 6300 Enabling 5G smartphones that are widely used with faster gaming and better photographs
The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 bears a striking resemblance to several MediaTek models from the past, even with its new moniter. However, the OEM claims that smartphones built on this silicon will be equipped with all the modern capabilities, including 5G UltraSave 3.0+ power-efficiency improvements and HyperEngine “gaming technologies,” to allow them to compete in the 2024 market for reasonably priced 5G handsets.
Although the name of MediaTek’s most recent CPU release may suggest that the Dimensity 9300 has finally been redesigned for the mid-range market, the silicon in question is really built on an older 6 nanometer (nm) architecture and features the ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
Although it has the well-known 2 Cortex-A76 + 6 Cortex-A55 ARM core arrangement, cellphones built on this “new” CPU could be up to 10% faster than those built on its immediate processor, the Dimensity 6100+, thanks to its top speed of 2.4GHz.
However, it’s impossible to overlook the parallels between it and the Dimensity 810 from 2021, which include support for outdated standards like Wi-Fi 5, LPDDR4X RAM, and UFS 2.2 flash storage and more.
However, the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 adopts Bluetooth 5.2 instead of 5.1 for the 810, supports 120Hz refresh rates (but only for FHD+ displays; no mention is made of more recent 1.5K resolutions), and has a primary camera that can capture up to 108MP images “with Enhanced Noise Reduction.”
It’s expected that the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 will soon be released in the shape of the Realme C65 and other reasonably priced Android smartphones.
Improved Noise Reduction in 108MP Cameras 108MP camera sensors are natively supported, resulting in remarkably detailed images. In low light, pre-integrated multiframe noise reduction produces a steady, clear image.
MediaTek HyperEngine: Quicker Gaming Experience Users may now game up to 10% quicker than they could on prior generations’ CPUs and have a GPU performance advantage of over 50% over competing platforms thanks to the boost to 2.4GHz CPU speeds.
With up to 11% more power efficiency, up to 13% more frames per second in demanding gameplay scenarios, intelligent connection prediction between 5G and Wi-Fi, 5G Call/Data concurrency, and more dependable connectivity to guarantee gamers never lose connection, MediaTek HyperEngine gaming technologies infuse the entire smartphone gaming experience.
Billions of Colour Displays View billion colour displays with contour-free true colours, and enjoy real 10-bit images and movies on true colour AMOLED screens, which improve user experience. With display speeds up to 120 Hz, users can enjoy exceptionally fluid interactions with apps and pages, including animations. This helps lessen eye strain.
Modem 3GPP R16 Standard A 3GPP Release-16 standard 5G modem with the most recent connection improvements now being used by international cellular operators is included in the MediaTek Dimensity 6300. One smartphone design may be made for all cellular markets worldwide by device designers, greatly cutting costs and speeding up global rollout.
5G UltraSave 3.0+ MediaTek In typical 5G sub-6GHz connectivity circumstances, MediaTek 5G UltraSave 3.0+ offers a full range of R16 power saving advancements in addition to MediaTek’s own optimizations that yield 13–30% higher power efficiency than competing options.
Faster 5G with Greater Range Up to 3.3Gb/s 5G downlink via 2CC carrier aggregation is possible by addressing a maximum of 140MHz cellular spectrum. This represents up to 40% faster downlink speeds in metropolitan areas and up to 30% faster downlink speeds in suburbs when compared to competitor alternatives. With the application of mixed duplex FDD+TDD, which combines the benefits of low and mid-band, smartphones in CA can enjoy higher speeds and a wider range. Additionally, carrier aggregation allows for a smooth changeover between two 5G connection areas at the coverage layer, giving consumers more than 30% more throughput layer coverage than they would have without CA.
Situationally-Aware Improvements When using a car underground or high-speed train, MediaTek’s 5G modem detects the connection environment and uses situationally intelligent optimisations intended to offer 20% faster downlink speeds than competing options.
Support for 8-layer DL MIMO and LB+LB ENDC A smartphone that is future-proof is one that supports the most recent cellular operator specifications, such as dual, low-band ENDC and 8-layer DL MIMO.
Compact & Exceptionally Power-efficient Platform Even for discerning smartphone consumers, a prolonged battery life is guaranteed by using the TSMC 6nm-class chip fabrication process. The more compact platform that MediaTek’s engineering advancements have produced also allows device designers greater creative freedom.

Web Application Deployment: Streamlining Processes with Ruby on Rails
Tumblr media
In today's fast-paced digital landscape, deploying web applications efficiently and effectively is crucial for businesses seeking to stay competitive and meet the evolving needs of their users. Among the myriad of development frameworks available, Ruby on Rails (RoR) has emerged as a popular choice for building robust and scalable web applications. In this article, we explore how Ruby on Rails streamlines the deployment process, empowering businesses to deliver high-quality applications with speed and agility with ruby on rails development company.
Understanding Ruby on Rails
Ruby on Rails, often referred to as Rails, is an open-source web application framework written in the Ruby programming language. Launched in 2004, Rails follows the principles of convention over configuration and don't repeat yourself (DRY), emphasizing developer productivity and code simplicity. With its comprehensive set of tools, libraries, and conventions, Rails enables developers to build feature-rich web applications rapidly.
Rapid Development with Ruby on Rails
One of the key advantages of Ruby on Rails is its focus on rapid development. The framework's convention-based approach eliminates much of the repetitive configuration work typically associated with web development, allowing developers to focus on building core application features. By adhering to established conventions for directory structure, database schema, and naming conventions, developers can accelerate the development process and maintain a clean, organized codebase.
Moreover, Ruby on Rails boasts a rich ecosystem of gems (libraries) that extend its functionality and simplify common development tasks. From authentication and authorization to database management and testing, developers can leverage pre-built gems to streamline development and reduce time-to-market. This extensive library of gems, coupled with Rails' modular architecture, empowers developers to build complex web applications efficiently while adhering to best practices.
Automated Testing and Quality Assurance
Quality assurance is paramount in web application development to ensure a seamless user experience and mitigate the risk of bugs and errors. Ruby on Rails promotes a test-driven development (TDD) approach, where automated tests are written before writing the actual code. This practice ensures that new features and functionality are thoroughly tested and validated against predefined criteria, reducing the likelihood of regression bugs and enhancing overall application stability.
Rails' built-in testing framework, along with popular testing libraries like RSpec and Capybara, enables developers to write comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and acceptance tests with ease. By automating the testing process, developers can identify and address issues early in the development lifecycle, resulting in higher-quality code and faster deployment cycles. Additionally, continuous integration (CI) tools like Jenkins and Travis CI can be seamlessly integrated into Rails projects to automate the testing and deployment process further.
Scalability and Performance Optimization
As web applications grow in complexity and user base, scalability and performance become critical considerations. ruby on rails development company usa robust tools and techniques for optimizing application performance and scalability. From database query optimization and caching to horizontal scaling and load balancing, Rails offers a myriad of strategies for handling increased traffic and ensuring consistent performance under load.
Active Record, Rails' built-in object-relational mapping (ORM) framework, simplifies database interactions and abstracts away much of the complexity associated with database management. Through techniques like eager loading, database indexing, and query optimization, developers can optimize database performance and reduce response times significantly. Furthermore, Rails' support for caching mechanisms like fragment caching and HTTP caching enables developers to alleviate database load and improve overall application responsiveness.
DevOps Integration and Continuous Deployment
In today's DevOps-oriented landscape, seamless integration and deployment pipelines are essential for delivering software rapidly and reliably. Ruby on Rails seamlessly integrates with popular DevOps tools and practices, facilitating continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) workflows. By automating the build, test, and deployment processes, teams can streamline deployment pipelines and accelerate the delivery of new features and updates to production environments.
Tools like Capistrano, a popular deployment automation tool for Rails applications, simplify the deployment process by automating tasks such as code deployment, database migrations, and asset compilation. Combined with CI/CD platforms like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins, teams can implement fully automated deployment pipelines that ensure code changes are thoroughly tested and deployed to production environments seamlessly.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Ruby on Rails offers a powerful framework for streamlining the web application deployment process, empowering businesses to deliver high-quality applications with speed and agility. From rapid development and automated testing to scalability optimization and DevOps integration, Rails provides developers with the tools and techniques needed to build and deploy robust web applications efficiently. By leveraging the capabilities of ruby on rails web development company usa, businesses can accelerate their development cycles, improve application quality, and stay ahead in today's competitive digital landscape.

Game Blog #1
Hi! My name is Joshua and this is my blog about our game, Stairway to heaven, a roguelike tower climber game.
These past few weeks have been pre-production on the project! Although not much coding progress was made on my part, it felt very good to get all of the planning out of the way before getting into the nitty-gritty coding. I got lots of work done on the GDD, and we had lots of good inspirations to get down on paper.
Tumblr media
I find that the easiest way to describe a game is to compare it to other games and add an adjective, e.g “Hades is like enter the gungeon combined with god of war” I think stairway to heaven is going to be like dead cells combined with hollow knight, which sounds lots of fun… even though i haven’t really played either of those games. Anyways, aside from the GDD, I also got my TDD done. This was…less fun, but it’s still very important work. My TDD was on saving and loading, which will be important due to the planned length of our game.
Tumblr media
Still, at least making the flowchart and UML diagrams were fun! Actually feels pretty good to lay everything out in a visual way.
Tumblr media
It looks dry, I know, but these will be very important later on when I’m actually trying to implement these systems.
Collaborating with my teammates is lots of fun! Working with others towards a collective goal is something I already enjoy, but combining it with game development is even better. It was very interesting to be taught how to use github by another member, and it seems he’s very experienced with it! Having him teach me all of the ins and outs of github was very interesting, it’s very nice to be taught by somebody with lots of experience. However, the biggest collaboration we’ve had so far was when we all worked on the GDD together. That was lots of fun! We all discussed certain parts of the game, found reference images, as well as writing down our thoughts in general. It reminded me of doing it last year, except a little more thought out due to our experience. I also loved helping another group member write characters! At one point, I had an idea for a psychotic shop keeper character, and he had an idea for a calmer and more friendly one. So we both wrote the shopkeepers in, one sells weapons and the other sells healing items (guess which) and both of them are by far my favourite part of the game so far! They seem like they’ll bounce off each other really well. The final time i’ll recount is when me and all of the members had a meeting about if the game will have lives or not. It seems small, but it was the first time we all came together in person to decide on something. It’s very interesting hearing everybody’s perspective on how a game mechanic will affect what they will do! I loved every discussion we had, really. That’s it for now, I’ll be back in another two weeks with more!

The Professional Scrum Developer Cert
"The Agile Certifications that exist are a complete joke and an utter absurdity." - Robert Martin, Clean Agile.
TL;DR: My company asked me to get this, so I did. Even though I only did a couple of hours of study. All the books I had been reading last year prepped me for it... I'm also good at taking tests.
You should ask yourself: Why the hell do I need this?
If the answer is that it will help you land a job, get a promotion, satisfy management, or assist you with a goal to pursue your learning. No harm, it's $200! However, if you want this to show off to people that you are the most Scrum dev, that is just so Scrum, just don't...please.
With that out of the way...
The first thing they asked me to do when I joined my new team was to get the PSD cert. I had other PM style certs under my belt, so this would be, as the very cool people say, 'no problem.' I figured this would be a fun way to make sure I had the terms and ceremonies down for Scrum. (And I was right, because I think tests are fun.)
I started with this assessment test to understand where I was so I could plan where I should go. I'm a massive fan of taking assessments before you study. You see, the idea of pre-testing is it gives you the shape of the test to come. This method helps my mind map out things that will be valuable to know for the test. I scored 60% on my first try, which was not great but gave me information on how to start my next steps.
After I studied my answers and noted right and wrong answers. From the reading I had been doing, I realized most of the terms in the test had been introduced over the last year.
Clean Code
Clean Architecture
Pragmatic Programmer
Clean Agile
Test Driven Design
Scrum: Twice the Work in half the time
Scrum: A Field Guide
Also, the following online documentation and videos helped me understand a bunch:
DevOps Terminology
More Devops Stuff
This Pluralsite Course
The Scrum Guide
Tech Debt
And some of this post on TDD
So, after reviewing some keywords in those books, I made a:
Tumblr media
Let's talk about my study guide system:
First, I take my wrong answer pass and use that to build a foundation of what I don't know and mesh this with whatever core competencies list I can find for the certification. I then research videos and articles that can help me fill in my knowledge.
Then, I review this content, taking notes on any terms I don't understand. I then cross-referenced all of these with terms I noted down from the assessment test and refined my study guide. I do this process till every term, and the wrong answer makes complete sense.
Then I take the assessment again, but now it's speed mode. I try to spend less than 10 seconds on each question (sometimes more if there is a long setup) or less on each question; if I go too long, I skip (or guess and note it down real quick). The thinking is, in a multichoice test, if I don't know the correct answer immediately, I'm gaming the multiple-choice, not actually "knowing." I refined this technique on a couple of Comptia Certs, which also helped me through a good part of my schooling.
After 2-3 speed runs. I complete all the wrong answers and any notes on terms or concepts I stall or take longer on. Then I take this and make a:
Tumblr media
While speed running, I repeat this process until I pass 10% higher on pre-tests and assessments than I need for the certification test. Because certifications often have question bundles, I can buy them. I will often buy one or two if they're cheap. However, for the PSD, the free one is WAY better than the paid one I bought from Udemy. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't have grabbed the paid one.
After this is done, I look at scheduling an assessment. But as it turns out, that's not something you need to worry about with the PSD; you can take it any time after you pay, so keep that in mind.
Before the assessment, I reviewed the core test competency materials and took a nice mind break.
When I feel calm and centered, I take the test. This method has yet to fail me. Is it the fastest way to cram new info in your head? Probably not, but I do learn whatever the cert is trying to teach me, and as a bonus, I feel very little pressure in the tests, often finishing quickly with enough time to review questions I wasn't so sure about.
How did this serve me for the PSD? It was 95%, not 100%, as the fabulous folks get, but perfection is the enemy of done in my book. And it is very done!
So now that you know how I took it. The real question is, was it useful?
Yes? We'll see as time goes on.

Embracing OOP principles allows developers to organize code into reusable objects and classes.
Encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism facilitate modular and structured code development.
OOP promotes code reusability, separation of concerns, and easier maintenance.
PHP Frameworks:
Utilizing PHP frameworks, such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter, streamlines development by providing pre-built components, libraries, and MVC (Model-View-Controller) architecture.
Frameworks facilitate rapid development, code organization, and everyday tasks like routing, database handling, and user authentication.
They promote best practices and standardize coding conventions, leading to cleaner and more maintainable codebases.
Dependency Management:
Adopting dependency management tools like Composer simplifies the integration of external libraries and packages into PHP projects.
Composer allows developers to define project dependencies and automatically manages their installation and updates.
It promotes code reuse, reduces wheel reinvention, and ensures project dependencies are easily maintainable.
Unit Testing:
Writing unit tests using frameworks like PHPUnit helps ensure code correctness, identify and prevent bugs, and facilitate code refactoring.
Unit tests provide a safety net when making changes, allowing developers to validate that existing functionality remains intact.
Test-driven development (TDD) is an approach that emphasizes writing tests before writing the actual code, leading to more reliable and maintainable software.
PSR Standards:
The PHP Standards Recommendations (PSR) are guidelines and standards established by the PHP community to promote interoperability and consistency in PHP projects.
Adhering to PSR standards improves code readability, collaboration, and compatibility across different frameworks and libraries.
Following PSR standards ensures that codebases are well-structured, easily maintainable, and accessible to a broader community of developers.
Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD):
Implementing CI/CD pipelines, utilizing tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI, automates the building, testing, and deployment of PHP applications.
Continuous integration ensures that code changes are regularly integrated into a shared repository, preventing integration issues.
Continuous deployment automates deploying code to production environments, ensuring a streamlined release process.
