DeltFall question

In pouring over ASR to find scenes to stage with Murderdoll, I have questions.

I ran a query on AO3 and no one has written fanfic on the subject either.

Why was DeltFall targeted by GrayCris and targeted before PresentationAux?

(Other than a plot device by the author, of course.)

I get the impression that both GrayCris and DeftFall were both on the survey planet before the arrival of PreservationAux.

But DeltFall was on a different continent. When GrayCris came to attack PreservationAux habitats, they came from the south but presumably they were on the same continent as PreservationAux. When the PreservationAux team retrieves the GrayCris message and goes to the meeting site, it is also on the same continent.

So why was DeltFall destroyed? What had they found on the other continent? We know that PreservationAux went to the unmapped area. Which from the melted looking rock/glass made me think some cataclysmic event, possibly involving alien weapons of mass destruction, had taken place leaving residue on the site.

What are y'all's thought?

Please, someone better than me at writing suspense, write a fanfic answering this!

i think it's really cool that the mb diaries opens on PreservationAux crew. it's a very uncaring world that Murderbot exists in, and it spent 35,000+ hours among apparently careless contracts where no one did anything except for money as far as it cares to describe.

but the first thing we're shown is kind people. people who do selfless acts. the very first impression of humans we get is caring and concern for each other. not because of legal fees if they die or because they have important data. because they are loved.

in an unloving world, the first thing we are shown is that people still care.
