Le prince héritier de l'époque a divorcé de Sujarinee qui a été accusée d'adultère en public en 1996.Sujarinee et ses enfants ont par la suite déménagé à l'étranger. La plus jeune fille a été reprise par la famille royale et a reçu le titre de princesse Sirivannavari Nariratana, par contre les quatre fils restent séparés et n'ont aucun titre royal officiel.Le Palais n'a pas commenté sa visite.Vacharaesorn s'est rendu à la Foundation for Slum Child Care et a donné de l'argent pour soutenir leur travail, d'après le post Facebook de la fondation, disant qu'il "a salué les enfants avec attention et s'est beaucoup intéressé au travail de la fondation pour aider les enfants et les familles défavorisés".Les photos publiées montraient Vacharaesorn embrassant des enfants et parlant étroitement avec eux.Un jour après son arrivée, Vacharaesorn a été vu dans des vidéos visitant plusieurs sites religieux à Bangkok, dont le temple du Bouddha d'émeraude qui se trouve dans le sol du Grand Palais. Il a posté sur son compte Facebook une photo de lui sur un auto-rickshaw la nuit avec la légende "Bangkok Tuk-Tuk".Le roi Vajiralongkorn, 71 ans, s'est marié quatre fois et a sept enfants, mais il n'a pas nommé d'héritier officiel. Son quatrième mariage avec la reine Suthida a été annoncé quelques jours seulement avant son couronnement en 2019. Le roi a pris la couronne après le décès de son père, le roi Bhumibol Adulyadej en 2016.En décembre, le palais a affirmé que la princesse Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, 44 ans, s'était effondrée en raison d'une arythmie cardiaque, qui, d'après lui, était due à une infection à mycoplasmes.
