This is the story of TODNAM

This story📙 is very close to my heart❤.

The story of a village🏘 that gave refuge to a person after snowstrom🗻.

The story of a family👪 that took him in and made him one of their own.

The story of a culture, changing rapidly with time while also staying true to its roots.

The story of the most beautiful and harshest placest in the world🌍🗺.

This is the story of Todnam👇.

It is a pretty village surrounded by impressive looking mountains on all sides.

The little village with a big heart.

Todnam is a village of about 15 households located in the pin valley of SPITI, INDIA.

It is a typical spiti village with whitewashed houses clustered together in the middle of Pea and Barley fields.

It is pretty village surrounded by impressive looking mountains on all sides.

If Todnam is pretty in the summers, it looks absolutely spectacular during the winter months. Especially under a fresh coat of snows.

It is in this settings when he first came across Todnam in the spring of 2017.

It was april and he was hiking between the village of Pin valley when he was caught in a snow-strom and spent 2 days stuck in a tent with non-stop snowfall and heavy winds howling outside.

His tiny bivy was buried by the snow, and he was pinned down in the crampped snow, unable to move, cook or even melt snow for water during those 2 days.

He abandoned his tent as soon as the snowfall stopped, and went, through the ocean of snow, looking for refuge in any nearest village.

That nearest village turned out to be TODNAM.

The villagers saw him coming from far away and understood his situation.

Instead of waiting around for him to reach the village they came a couple of kilometres in that deep snow to welcome him with warm smiles and a flask of hot tea indeed.

They took him to NAWANG TONZIN's housewhere everyone in the village had gathered for a ceremony and his family welcomed him with open arms.

This is how he first stumbled upon Todnam and began a love affair with the village that would continue for the next couple of years and counting.

So,

He stayed with Nawang's family for about a week until the snow melted just enough to dig out his tent and get moving again.

And over the course of the week he became close to the family which comprised to Nawang, his wife Chunnit and their two sons, Tsering Punshock and Kunzung Sherab.

Living with them was their grandmother Evi, who at 93 was the oldest person in Pin valley.

The family was going throughtough times of their own but they were exceedingly kind to him and made him feel right at home.

TODNAM is aprimarily a farming village.

The Pea crop is the main and sometimes only source of income for its people and they make a decent living through it.

Pin valley is the last bastion of unique traditions before they disappear forever.

His first visit to Todnam was limited just one week, but it was enough to motivate him (and me also😍) to come back for more and experience life in this unique little village.

This is what he said to me while sharing his amazing experience with so much stars in his eyes.

"I was touched by the warmth and kindness of its people and was inspired by their day to day struggles in order to survive in that stunningly beautiful but impossibly harsh part of our country."

“We need to get Rumlow out of hiding,” Fury said. “Thousands of people could die if we don’t.” “Yeah,” Darcy said. She could fill in the blanks. “He dislikes Captain Rogers,” Fury supplied. “If Brock gives a damn at all, he’ll dislike any Alpha that I bond with,” Darcy said. “It can be anybody.” “Are you volunteering, Lewis?” Fury said. “Darce--” Steve began. “If you’ll keep your mitts off Steve and not make his life more difficult, yes,” Darcy said.

It was the typical crazy Nick Fury plan: Tie Steve out like a goat. In other words, bond Darcy Lewis to Steve Rogers to trap Brock Rumlow. Darcy's all for a plan that would see her ex-Alpha captured; she needs his whereabouts for an annulment, after all. But she doesn't know how Bucky Barnes would feel about his childhood love being bonded to his captor's ex. So, Darcy vetoes it and tells Fury to find somebody else.

Who they find might be even scarier than Rumlow.
