how tf do you save (export settings) your gifs for it to be so clear?
it’s actually 100% reliant on how hq your video is as well as how many colours are in the gif (this is the most important fact) so ofc if you don’t have a large colour range then the exported gif is more accurate to the original video.
Here’s an example
The first one is a screencap of my original file (with the psd etc) and below is a screencap of the exported gif. You can’t really see much difference at a glance but if you look closely at the eye near the lids + surrounding area you can see that there’s a bit of depreciation in the quality (with the gif having a bit more noise). There isn’t too many colour in this gif so the export result is pretty true to the original
Meanwhile for gifs with a lot more colours its more apparently to see that once it’s been exported there’s a lot more noise pretty much every where (especially in coloured area) noticing especially on hobi’s jacket, jungkook’s face and the background overall.
So while having a hq video is necessary for a good base, it’s also important to figure out how to colour gifs to minimise the colours. In the following example my psd pretty much blacked out the entire background because if I didn’t you can see it would have been super noisy/grainy

How do you brighten gifs without it looking harsh or too contrasty, what’s your favorite way to color gifs/give more depth to colors in gifs? Also is the process of making a gif from start to finish (excluding colouring) always the same for you or do you have a different process for each gif? What’s the best way to save gifs? Mine always turn out pixelated thank you!! You are a giffing Queen!!

I don’t really do much colouring wise, I only really try to adjust for lighting. I guess it’s just my colouring style to do anything too drastic. As for brightening/contrast I’ve answered a similar question before where I’ve made a quick video kind of going over working around blacks and exposure which you can check out here

It’s pretty much always going to be the same every time. I don’t think there’s much to change in the process tbh
Dowload file > find time stamps > make clips and do all my resizing in avisynth > import into ps > topaz > colour > export
What’s the best way to save gifs?
I find that generally speaking adaptive is probably the best one, but if you have a lot of solid colour in your gif (i.e. the bg is all one colour) then you can export with selective with next to no difference in the gif and a smaller file size. I also use diffusion almost every time, it’s super situational when pattern dither looks better than diffusion. To avoid pixelation in general you just want to try reduce the number of colours in the gif.
